A 3-movement piano sonata in C# minor, Legends tells the tragic tale of two lovers cursed by the Greek god Poseidon. The first movement depicts the journey of the first lover, a semi-mortal demigod who sets out on a quest to challenge Poseidon for control of the seas. He loses the battle and is cursed to remain lost at sea forever, caught in a vortex with enough strength to swim forever, but not enough to escape. The second movement depicts his mortal human lover, who remains on land. As time continues, the lover grows concerned; they don't know when—or if—their beloved will return. After months have passed, the human decides to go on a quest of their own to find their beloved. The human learns of the demigod's fate, and must make a choice: To live the rest of their life in solitude, separated from the one they love—or to jump into the vortex and doom both of them. The third movement depicts this choice; the human decides to be selfish, and cherish one last moment with the demigod before they both sink to the bottom of the ocean and die in each other's arms.

Hass (A0.1031280). This is my first original composition with PDF sheet music upload. The piece is a beginner's level variation on my theme, Changing Seasons, which I composed originally in October of 2008. Eventually this piece will be published for a large ensemble but for now, I am sticking with humble beginings. This version of the song is meant to serve as an etude for piano. The song is a fun study of arpeggiation, intriguing chordal movement including secondary dominants, repeats with 1st and 2nd endings, classic piano technique, dexterity, and a small homage to Pachelbel's Canon (although not in D, in this case.) This etude is written in the key of C Major for ease of learning's sake. The original composition was written in the key of D Major. I used PreSonus' Notion 6 for this project. However, I ran into a plethora of difficulties when I transferred the file over to PDF format. Some text was lost as well as the majority of all my performance and technique notes in the score. I will try to correct this ASAP and get the score reloaded. I really just need to get something posted on here because I AM a composer and I have never actually shared a composition in musical score form for others to purchase, play or peruse. This is my first ever. I hope whoever selects this piece enjoys it and might offer some constructive criticism or insight. Have fun! (Note, the piece is intended to be played at approximately 120 bpm but I encourage playing it slowly several times at first to figure out a way through the printing errors for now).

Etudes are usually either emotionally compelling but technically hard (like Chopin’s), or other way around - technically reachable but emotionally dull. Both options can influence pianists' motivation, not in a good way. Cinematic Piano Etudes try to provide compelling experiences at the technically reachable level. Each ‘Episode’ should evoke a sense of a scene with easy enough technique requirements. As the series progresses, so will the technical level. Of course, hopefully they will be compelling listening experience to the general public too. Finding the Star is a slow-moving piece that draws out the idea of time being slowed down when one is lost. The theme of this piece is the idea of being lost at sea. The slow ground bass starts, the churning of the dark waves against the side of the ship. The sky and sea are the same type of dark, not a star or light can be seen anywhere above or below. On deck the crew wait for an order, though they are scared, there’s nothing they can do. They cannot make the star appear, and they cannot give direction without certainty that they’re going in the right direction. The waves turn and grow and often push the ship around, making everyone nervous, if they completely get turned they could get lost. The voices of the instruments trade places and come in and out of each other. Dancing around each other making a beautiful eerie melody. At the very end of the piece, the star is found. The clouds move and the moons bright light shines down on the weary travelers and they find hope again.

The boat was located and raised. The cause of the tragedy is still a mystery. The title is from a poem of William Blake.
