Piano Solo - Level 5 - SKU: A0.1203884 Composed by Scott Joplin. Arranged by Jane Stavrinoudis. 20th Century,Contemporary,Jazz,Ragtime. Score. 8 pages. Jane Stavrinoudis #802448. Published by Jane Stavrinoudis (A0.1203884). Grade 8 – Upper Advanced Piano soloWith this sheet music, you can play Maple Leaf Rag by the King of Ragtime writers, Scott Joplin. It's an accurate, carefully created piano arrangement of the full piano solo that became Ragtime’s first and most influential hit. Maple Leaf Rag is a multi-strain ragtime march with athletic bass lines and offbeat melodies. Each of the four parts features a recurring theme and a striding bass line with copious seventh chords. The piece may be considered the archetypal rag due to its influence on the genre; its structure was the basis for many other rags, including Sensation by Joseph Lamb. This arrangement is for advanced players in E flat Major and Two Four Time and includes a brief history and analysis.

Piano Solo - Level 2 - SKU: A0.894345 Composed by Scott Joplin. Arranged by Theoria Music. 20th Century,Folk,Traditional. Score. 5 pages. Theoria Music Publishing #3674659. Published by Theoria Music Publishing (A0.894345). Original Rags was an early ragtime medley for piano and was the first of Scott Joplin's rags to appear in print, in early 1899, preceding his Maple Leaf Rag by half a year.Scott Joplin (November 24, 1868 – April 1, 1917) was an American composer and pianist. Joplin achieved fame for his ragtime compositions and was dubbed the King of Ragtime. During his brief career, he wrote 44 original ragtime pieces, one ragtime ballet, and two operas. One of his first and most popular pieces, the Maple Leaf Rag, became ragtime's first and most influential hit, and has been recognized as the archetypal rag.Joplin grew up in a musical family of railway laborers in Texarkana, Arkansas, and developed his own musical knowledge with the help of local teachers. While in Texarkana, Texas, he formed a vocal quartet and taught mandolin and guitar. During the late 1880s he left his job as a railroad laborer and travelled the American South as an itinerant musician. He went to Chicago for the World's Fair of 1893, which played a major part in making ragtime a national craze by 1897.Publisher: Theoria Music PublishingWebsite: https://sheetmusicmarket.comÂ

Euphonium,Piano - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1112417 Composed by Scott Joplin. Arranged by David McKeown. 20th Century,Jazz,Ragtime. Score and part. 8 pages. David McKeown #714451. Published by David McKeown (A0.1112417). The most popular of Scott Joplin’s piano rags during his lifetime, The Maple Leaf Rag was published in 1899. Joplin lived for a while in Sedalia, Missouri and the Maple Leaf Club in that town is thought to have provided the name for this composition. It provided Joplin with a steady income for the rest of his life, and while he requested that it be played at his funeral, his wife refused as she felt it inappropriate. It was the first track on Joshua Rifkin’s famous 1970 revival recording of Joplin’s music and, never waning in popularity, it has featured in hundreds of films. This version for Euphonium and Piano includes all four sections of the original composition. The tempo in recorded versions varies widely between 72 and 126, so the marking of 92 is a suggestion only. Musicians at an advanced intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. The overall performance time is around four minutes. Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with phrasing, syncopated rhythms and light articulation. Click the YouTube link to hear a full performance of the clarinet version of this arrangement. Piano,Trombone - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1112427 Composed by Scott Joplin. Arranged by David McKeown. 20th Century,Jazz,Ragtime. Score and part. 8 pages. David McKeown #714461. Published by David McKeown (A0.1112427). This version for Trombone and Piano includes all four sections of the original composition. Published by Diamond S Music (A0.790191). Maple Leaf Rag (A Ragtime Two-Step) - Scott Joplin - Piano Solo. Scott Joplin is The King of Ragtime and wrote over 100 pieces of Ragtime, one ragtime ballet, and two operas. Joplin’s ‘Maple Leaf Rag’ became ragtime's first and most influential hit. Joplin and his fellow ragtime composers rejuvenated American popular music, fostering an appreciation for African-American music among European-Americans by creating exhilarating and liberating dance tunes. Its syncopation and rhythmic drive gave it a vitality and freshness attractive to young urban audiences indifferent to Victorian proprieties ... Joplin's ragtime expressed the intensity and energy of a modern urban America. This edition also contains a brief biography of the composer. This piece is also include in the collection, The Entertainer and 21 other popular Scott Joplin Piano Solos which is available here at SMP [S0.811211] at a reduced price. The original work by Joplin is in A-flat major key – and the trio movement in D-flat major. I transposed this to C major key. Instrumentation is for Violin and Piano.
