English Horn,Piano - Level 3 - SKU: A0.549472 Composed by Alexander Scriabin. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Concert,Instructional,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. Score and part. 12 pages. Jmsgu3 #3499777. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549472). Alexander Scriabin Op. 11 No. 2. Score: 8 pages, solo part: 2 pages, piano part: 2 pages. Duration: 3:10. An introspective and meditative work with a lot of dynamic and phrasing nuance. Works well for church meditations or recital encores. Background Op.11/2 Alto Clarinet version. First of all, Scriabin composed mostly for the solo piano and also the orchestra. This is probably because he was a gifted pianist and therefore certainly appreciated the piano. Scriabin grew up in the late Romantic period, consequently, he was fond of the great piano masters of the time. As a result, he wrote his first noteworthy compositions in the manner of Chopin and Liszt. Forms Likewise, Scriabin used many of the same forms as Chopin. These certainly include the étude, prelude, nocturne, and even the mazurka. In contrast, as he developed his own sense of style his music became more and more unusual. So, the last five of his Piano Sonatas do not have a key signature and therefore lean towards atonality. Philosophy Scriabin also developed a keen interest in philosophy and likewise poetry. He was above all particularly fascinated by Nietzsche, Delville, and Blavatsky. Consequently, he finally established his own ideas about metaphysics and certainly mysticism. Scriabin consequently advanced theories about the relationship between color and musical keys. Synesthesia He also may have experienced a condition called synesthesia where he could probably sense a response created from a different stimulus. Therefore, it was almost as if he could see music and hear colors. Scriabin, therefore, arranged the colors in a circle similar to the circle-of-fifths and assigned each key area a color. Finally, he assigned the key of C to the color red, while the key of G was orange. Similarly, he assigned D to yellow, A to green, and so forth. Strangely, he did not differentiate between major and minor key colors. Multimedia Hence, his ability to translate colors into music certainly gave Scriabin a most noteworthy interest in creating multimedia events. Furthermore, He designed his biggest work, the Mysterium, to last an entire week. Even more, Scriabin made plans not only for music, but also colored lights, incense, and dancing. He designed the performance to occur in the foothills of the Himalaya mountains. The Mysterium was never performed, and only sketches of the work remain. Modern Performances In modern times, we often experience performances of Scriabin’s most famous completed works accompanied by colored laser lights and incense. These are the Poem of Ecstasy (completed in 1908) and the Poem of Fire (completed in 1910). The lighting effects for these early performances were accomplished by the clavier à lumiéres. It was a keyboard instrument that projected colored light onto a screen.

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - SKU: A0.726091 Composed by Traditional Basque Carol. Arranged by Todd Marchand. Christmas,Holiday,Sacred,Traditional. Score and parts. 18 pages. Con Spirito Music #4798963. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.726091). Gabriel's Message (The Angel Gabriel to Heaven Came) is a folk carol from the Basque Country, the region that straddles the westernmost Pyrenees Mountains in adjacent parts of northern Spain and southwestern France. A vernacular paraphrase of the 13th/14th-century Latin carol, Angelus ad virginem, the text was translated from Basque and paraphrased into English by the Anglican priest and scholar Sabine Baring-Gould (1834-1924). Commonly sung at Advent and Christmas, Gabriel's Message quotes the biblical account of the Annunciation (Luke 1:26-38) and the Magnificat (Luke 1:46-55) in its opening lines:The angel Gabriel from heaven came, his wings as drifted snow, his eyes as flame; All hail, said he, thou lowly maiden Mary, most highly favoured lady. Gloria! The Basque tune was collected and published by the French composer Charles Bordes (1863-1909) in Archives de la tradition basque (1890) and was arranged and published by the English organist/choirmaster Edgar Pettman (1866-1943) in his 1892 collection, Modern Christmas Carols. Pettman's setting remains a favorite among choirs to this day. This arrangement features each of the voices of the brass quintet on the tune and augments the ensemble with optional finger cymbals and tambourine. ©Copyright 2019 Todd Marchand / ConSpiritoMusic. Brass Band. 133 pages. Lyons Music Services #3077555. Published by Lyons Music Services (A0.767216). This is one of my favourite compositions, which took me several years to complete. It was inspired by a trip to the Lake District in the North West of England in 2000. The landscape is beautiful and we were blessed with wonderful weather and good friends. Although the piece is continuous, there are distinct sections that cover my impressions of the countryside at different points. These are labelled in the score and parts: The Mountains, Airforce Fly Past, The Ramblers, A Brief Downpour, Windermere, Scafell Pike, Haverthwaite Railway, An Abandoned Farm, The Celtic Influence, Helvellyn and Mr Jeremy Fisher. The piece concludes with a final, brief glimpse of the mountains.Mr Jeremy Fisher refers, of course, to the Beatrix Potter character who was nearly eaten by a fish. This would make an excellent own-choice test piece and, at just over 10 minutes, would make a good piece in an entertainment contest programme. Suitable for bands from 3rd section upwards.Parts supplied are for British Brass Band (All TC transposed, except Bass Trombone) plus Timps, Percussion 1

Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1278278 Composed by Trevor Wilson. Chamber,Classical. 11 pages. Trevor's Music Studio #869981. Published by Trevor's Music Studio (A0.1278278). Explore the majestic Wallowa Mountains in northeast Oregon! Inspired by their extreme jaggedness and majestic appearance, this fanfare for brass quintet was originally written for the brass edition of Music Camps at Wallowa Lake summer camp in 2010. Also known as the Alps of Oregon, the Wallowa Mountains are home to many camping, hiking, and other outdoor activities. This short fanfare is a tribute to their striking geography, starting with a simple melody, then expanding on rhythmic themes reminiscent of the range's pronounced sight line. Performance time is around 1:30, and is suitable for an intermediate brass quintet. This is a great piece to start a concert with, and a fun way to educate the audience on a short - but mighty - mountain range in Oregon!

For the composer John O'Reilly, autumn is a special time because of the dramatic colors that dot the Adirondack Mountains in New York State. Summer is over and autumn is the lovely season that precedes the harsh winter to come. Autumn Colors is set in a natural minor tonality and features flowing melodic lines from all the winds. This lyrical ballad portrays the warm feelings the composer experiences when the leaves put on their yearly display of beautiful colors. (2:20) Correlates with Book 2. Published by https://gildedmusicpress.com/ (A0.1158017). Dr. Thrower grew up near the granite hills of northern Utah. As he composed this short fanfare, the octaves in the tuba and trombone conjured images of a solid foundation for the upper brass to build on. The imagery of a granite monolith powerfully provided a suitable title. He pictured himself back in the mountains of his youth, standing on seemingly eternal ground that even an earthquake would have difficulty cracking. The grandeur of that feeling of security and connection to something safe and firm is hopefully reflected in the power of the strong notes of this brief fanfare. Pictured on the cover is “Devil’s Tower†located in Wyoming. Although not in Utah, this monolith is a dramatic specimen, worthy of the intended musical imagery of this fanfare. The piece was composed for the student brass quintet at the University of Texas at San Antonio. The premiere performance opened their exciting concert on December 1, 2010. It has since been performed by various brass quintets throughout the United States, including universities and military ensembles.

Published by Forton Music - Digital (F2.FM629). ISBN 9790570485284.This piece was composed for the Assisi Performing Arts Festival woodwind quintet. It's made up of five movements, each reflecting a different aspect of the beautiful and mystical town of Assisi, Italy. Movement one, 'Sunrise', begins as the sun's light extends over walls and the many churches that adorn the mountainside. Movement 2 is entitled 'Tourists' and reflects the hustle and bustle of incoming visitors to the shops and chapels with imitations of car horns and the pandemonium of the crowds. The third movement is 'Monasteries'. As the orders of monks and nuns are called to Vespers, you can hear their voices from monasteries, chapels and churches throughout Assisi. A beautiful cacophony of sacred music rises above the town! The 4th movement is titled 'Rocca Maggiore' after the lookout post atop a great hill that looks out over the top of the city and across the valley. The hike up to this post is steep, but at the top you are rewarded with not only a spectacular view, but the songs of birds soaring over the town. The 5th and final movement is 'Sunset and Dinner with Family and Friends'. This movement symbolizes the end of the day as all the tourists are gone and the families and friends in Assisi sit down together for their delicious evening meals. Wine, incredible food and conversation close out the day as the sun sets behind the mountain. This piece was written as a tribute to one of the most spiritual and beautiful places in the world...Assisi, Italy.

Rocky Mountain Vista ♫ American Folk Song ♫ “Rocky Mountain High†with “Down in the Valley†and “Home on the Range†♫ arranged for concert band by Stephen R Dalrymple ♫ What would you see if you climbed to the rim of the Rocky Mountains (or the Appalachians)? I arranged 2 American folk songs of unknown authorship, Rocky Mountain and Down in the Valley, plus Home on the Range (by Brewster Higley (lyrics 1874) and Daniel Kelly (melody pre 1905) to portray our western mountains and range land. ♫ [2021 Update: Actually, modern theory says Rocky Mountain came from the Appalachian Mountains and describes the rocky mountains of the Appalachians, not the Rockies. But for many the song evokes memories of the Rocky Mountains. So if you look to the west or the east for high mountains, you're covered.] ♫ Rocky mountain, rocky mountain, rocky mountain high, When you’re on that rocky mountain, hang your head and cry. Loo, loo, loo, loo, Do remember me. Loo, loo, loo, loo, Do remember me. ♫ Down in the valley the valley so low, Hang your head over; hear the wind blow. Hear the wind blow dear; hear the wind blow. Hang your head over; hear the wind blow. ♫ Oh, give me a home where the buffalo roam, Where the deer and the antelope play, Where seldom is heard a discouraging word, And the skies are not cloudy all day. ♫ Home, home on the range, Where the deer and the antelope play, Where seldom is heard a discouraging word, And the skies are not cloudy all day. ♫ How often at night, when the heavens were bright, With the light of the twinkling stars, Have I stood here amazed, and asked as I gazed, If their glory exceeds that of ours! ♫ sequenced by the arranger ♫ arrangement © 2001, 2019 Stephen R Dalrymple ♫ recording ℗ 2021 Stephen R Dalrymple ♫ presentation © 2021 Stephen R Dalrymple ♫ sequenced by the arranger ♫ Purchase price includes permission to make photocopies of parts and additional scores for a medium size school band. ♫ This .pdf file includes 1) Condensed Conductor’s Score 2) Individual parts for: Instrumentation: Flute/Oboe, Clarinet 1, Clarinet 2, Clarinet 3, Bass Clarinet, Alto Clarinet/Alto Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Baritone Sax, Trumpet 1, Trumpet 2, French Horn, Trombone/Bass Clef Baritone/Bassoon, Treble Clef Baritone, Tuba, Electric Bass, Snare Drum/Bass Drum, Triangle/Cymbal, and Bells. ♫ The YouTube video contains the full recording.

SATB choir, wind quintet and string quartet or piano - Medium - SKU: MQ.1.3438-E Composed by Z. Randall Stroope. Advanced/Collegiate. Secular, 21st Century, Creation/Nature. Score & instrument part. 24 pages. Duration 8 minutes, 25 seconds. Galaxy Music Corporation - Digital #1.3438-E. Published by Galaxy Music Corporation - Digital (MQ.1.3438-E). English.Northwest Passage is a set of “poetic landscapes†that reflects on three elements of the great Northwest of the United States—rivers, mountains, and prairies. Each sonic reflection (movement) combines to form a larger image, not unlike someone standing on a vista and seeing rivers, mountains, and prairies—each distinct, but part of one vast expanse. The work is scored for two versions: mixed chorus and piano, or mixed chorus, wind quintet, and string quartet. The harmonic vocabulary of the work maintains an uncomplicated, transparent (“organicâ€) approach in describing nature. The melodic vocabulary immediately pulls the listener's eye to the image, and rhythm is used as the underlying spark that is subtly ever changing and unpredictable. These three poetic landscapes should be performed without applause between movements.1. A Willow by the River|William Carlos Williams was a medical practitioner, pediatrician, and an avid writer. He wrote short stories, novels, plays, critical essays and, of course, poetry. The subjects of his writing were often “local†images, and he preferred to see the world “as it is,†without unnecessary trappings or “airs.†He was an important mentor to many younger poets of his day. “Willow Poem†(A Willow by the River) has no rhyme scheme but is comprised of fourteen individual lines. The willow is the focus of the poem (by its title and content) and how it never changes but will always “be.†The river represents, among other things, life quickly moving by and in a constant state of motion.2. Mountains|Marjorie Seiffert (who often used the pseudonyms Elijah Hay or Angela Cypher) led an incredibly full and balanced life. College introduced her to a world beyond her domestic and civic life and, as a result, she wanted to experience self-empowerment and independence. She prided herself in being a spouse, mother and maintaining a full slate of professional appearances and commissions for writing. Her poetry is vivid, keenly “visual,†and full of fast-paced, tightly woven ideas. “Mountain trails†(Mountains) was written at Glacier Park, Montana in September 1917.3. The Prairie|John Hay was an American statesman who was personal assistant to Abraham Lincoln. He also served as U. S. Secretary of State and Ambassador to Great Britain. He was a cultivated man of letters and wrote poetry which was straightforward in design and delivery. Nature was often the subject of his creative output. -Z. Concert Band - Level 3 - SKU: A0.814737 Composed by Richard E Brown. Contemporary. Score and parts. 149 pages. Dacker Music #3029427. Published by Dacker Music (A0.814737). Adirondack Sketches was commissioned by the Town of Lake Pleasant, which is located in the southern Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York, to celebrate its bicentennial. Written for the local community band (named A Pretty Good Band, Amy Winnie, director), it consists of four short movements, descriptive of my memories of places in and around my home town: 1. Sunrise over Lake Pleasant A gradual expansion of sound based on the horn call at m. 3 brings the lakeshore from predawn darkness to brilliant sunlight. 2. School Picnic at Moffit Beach A march/scherzo expresses the end-of-school exuberance of the school children. 3. Canoeing on Kunjamuck Creek A gently flowing passacaglia, with hints of arch form, depicts the calm, wooded creek. 4. Hiking up Hamilton Mountain An insistent ostinato bass suggests plodding footsteps as a fugue unfolds above, taking a group of excited hikers up the trail to the lookout atop the mountain. The price includes license to make as many copies of each part as necessary.Grade 3 - Duration 9:00
