The dissonance in the opening theme is meant to bring to mind that pain, suffering, and the cross. But as it resolves in the subsequent themes, I hope that it reminds you of the love that Jesus has for you and fills you with comfort and warmth. He is with you and he will never leave you or forsake you, if you believe in him as your Lord and Savior. Play this intermediate piano solo for silent prayer during communion for Sunday worship services. This arrangement of Never Enough is for concert band with an optional vocal soloist.The work starts out with the simple piano arpeggios that really hooked my ear on the original, before leading into an intimate blend of woodwind timbres and flowing percussive melodies for the first verse. Low Brass lead the work into the first chorus, where a Horn solo carries the emotion to the first full ensemble hit that pushes through until the end of the work where sudden silence and soft, warm extended chord punctuates the piece.This piece was written with advanced high school and higher level musicians in mind. Though the pieces isn't incredibly difficult overall, the range asked of some of the performers and the raw emotion that this work represents demands a level of training. To You for Baritone, Tenor Saxophone and piano is dedicated to the American Baritone Kurt Ollmann, who has done much for the promotion and performance of American music both in the United States and abroad.Whitman’s poem speaks of seeing a stranger and feeling love for this person. In contrast to Poe’s To Helen, which treats a similar subject of a chance meeting of a stranger that the poet loves, Whitman does not idealize his subject but rather pointedly and brutally describes how he sees this person and what feelings (both negative and positive) this contemplation provokes in the poet’s mind In order to reflect this musically, there is an alternation between more introspective and brooding sections which are then followed by more ecstatic outbursts. The piece ends with the poet watching the stranger leave, expressing what the composer felt to be acceptance and release.As in any chamber music with voice, it is important that the two instruments allow the voice to predominate, regardless of the dynamics marked in their parts. The saxophonist should try as much as possible to match colour with the voice,in order to allow the contrapuntal exchanges between the voice and the saxophone to blend evenly. Although it was never released as a single, it has become a fan favorite and a song that Joel plays regularly in concert. The inspiration for the song came from his pride in returning home to New York. Joel was literally takin' a Greyhound [bus] on the Hudson River Line [route] when the idea for the song came to him, and the song was written as soon as Joel arrived home.

I actually wrote and arranged all of this music with each of these quartet musicians’ artistry in mind and to record an album.
