Kevin G. Pace #894978. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1305527). A beautiful, sacred hymn with music by Kevin G. Pace and text by Mary Ann W. Snowball.Text:Even As a Child“ . . . becometh as a child, submissive, . . .†- (Mosiah 3:19)When Jesus was a child, he reasoned with the scribes,Desiring to teach them at the temple spires.Because his age was twelve, He stayed in Nazareth,Growing much in wisdom’s path, gaining holy breath. He waited patiently, his ministry to come . . .Yielding to his Father’s will; He was God’s own Son.He trusted as He lived with all obedience,Even as He faced, with strength, many mortal threats. Then when his end was nigh, when none would intercede,Standing before Pilate’s face, He did never plead. He firmly held his peace and answered to no man.Nearing his own death He pled: Clean those soldier’s hands! In honor He did live, thus showing us the way.Now He only begs that we, too, can God obey.Oh, even as this Child abandoned earthly hopes,Can we also live our lives with our Savior yoked?Chorus:Will we also give to Him each worldly desire,Even as this Child of God, and so be lifted higher?

Concert Band - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1335323 Composed by Kendra Brown. 21st Century. 26 pages. Kendra Brown #921147. Published by Kendra Brown (A0.1335323). The main theme is inspired by the introduction of the piece. Delicate and child-like. The ostinato in the beginning of the piece that double reeds have displays the feeling of a “child-like†waltz. The pattern is in 3 but it should be played as if it is in 6/8, with emphasis on beats 1 and 3. There should be weight to the sound but it should not be heavy. Sometimes in life, (as both teens and adults) we tend to get caught up in stress or worries and we forget to take a break, relax and destress a little. This piece reminds us to go back to our childlike roots. As the theme in Section A expands, it takes a turn in Section B where the tempo picks up. (Players are encouraged to have as much fun as they can with this part.) At and after the exposed bassoon part at m.50, in the words of my old high school band director, “Let it rip potato chip!†(Meaning give it all you’ve got and have fun). Brass are encouraged to play the dynamics as written in this section but listen to each other. Section C is a bridge to the 7/8 in Section D. Section D, reintroduces the theme in the form of a trumpet solo while brass and some of the woodwinds have the ostinato. Be careful euphonium & tuba because you’re missing a beat on purpose! Section E is the “Medley†of all the parts that were previously played with only tuba playing in the relative minor so it sticks out at the bottom of the ensemble. This is symbolic of the piece itself, showing that the pressures of life can be overcome by keeping a good attitude and persevering through those tough times that you encounter. Section F is another “bridge†beginning with the flute solo reiterating the theme one last time before the “descent and climb†(starting at m.137) to the final destination: Section G. Section G should be played like an overture. Full and with joy and a “coming alive-ness†to it therefore bringing life to the once dead emotions that once were. The ending with the oboe/bassoon duet should be played as quietly as possible & as in tune as possible.

Medium Voice,Vocal Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1077620 By Daniel Carter. By John H. Gower. Arranged by Daniel Carter. Easter,Praise & Worship,Sacred,Traditional. 4 pages. Daniel Carter #681826. Published by Daniel Carter (A0.1077620). Cecil Frances Alexander’s text, “There Is a Green Hill Far Away†was originally intended as a children’s song. However, now it is most commonly sung at worship during Passiontide in the Easter season. John H. Gower’s hymn tune MEDITATION is a simple, uncomplex match with the poet’s words. This setting for medium-range vocal solo and piano provides an independent accompaniment providing contrasting counter melodies to that of the singer. Suitable for Christ-centered gatherings, worship, and devotionals. Also arranged for SATB Chorus and Piano, easy to learn with a descant on the final verse at danielcartermusic.com.

Composed by Various. Arranged by Sharon Wilson. Christian, Sacred, Folk, Christmas, Children's Music. Score, Set of Parts, Solo Part. 87 pages. Published by Sharon Wilson
This collection contains 10 familiar Christmas carols arranged for a one octave, 13-note chromatic scale Handbell choir with Piano accompaniment. For each song, the Piano provides an introduction then the Handbells play the melody and occasional 2-part harmony. Each song also includes an optional repeat and second ending in case a longer song is desired. For each song, there is a combined score with both instruments (Handbells and Piano) on a grand staff plus two separate scores for the Handbells (one in standard format with black and white notes and the second with color-coded notes). A color-coded note chart is also provided for each song which shows the Handbell notes used as well as the number of times each note is played. The note distribution is helpful when assigning notes to ringers. You may want to assign fewer notes to beginners or evenly distribute the bells between all ringers. The color-coded scores are enlarged so the colors are easier to distinguish and all sharps and flats are displayed (shown in the key of C) as reminders for beginning ringers. Also, only filled noteheads (quarter and eighth notes) are used so the notes are full color and easier to see (this does not indicate the bells need to be silenced immediately before the next beat). As noted above, one of the Handbell scores for each song is color-coded for easier note reading for beginning ringers. These separate color-coded scores use the ?Chroma-Notes? Colored Music System.? If you have a set of Handbells with a different color scheme, ?Chroma-Notes Stick Ons? can be purchased and applied so the Handbells match this color scheme. The number of ringers needed will vary depending on the skill level of the participants. For more advanced players, each person could be assigned two or three notes. For beginners, it is best to assign one or two notes to each person. Note assignment suggestions are included for each song and range from 4 to 8 ringers. These familiar Christmas carols are perfect for small groups and especially beginning ringers. Most songs can be performed with as few as 5 people (4 ringers and 1 piano player). The Piano accompaniment is written for an intermediate player. Permission is granted to make up to 10 copies of each score. For more than 10 copies, please purchase additional sets. Each song is also available separately with accompanying preview pages and audio samples. For each song, a piano accompaniment and/or rehearsal track (MP3 format) is available as a separate purchase. Song titles included in this collection: Angels We Have Heard on High Bring a Torch, Jeannette, Isabella Ding Dong! Merrily on High Joy to the World O Come, All Ye Faithful O Come, O Come, Emmanuel O Thou Joyful Day Simple Gifts The First Noel We Three Kings

Choral Choir (Mixed) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.927453 Composed by Brenda Nansen, Mary Wright, and Roger Jones. Arranged by Annie Routley. Children,Christian,Christmas,Musical/Show,Praise & Worship. Octavo. 51 pages. Christian Music Ministries #6130407. Published by Christian Music Ministries (A0.927453). A musical of the Nativity, comprising nine songs and lasting approximately 30 minutes. It was written with children in mind and is particularly suitable for primary schools. The only solo vocal part is that of Mary (which is possible for an older child, but may prove a little challenging), but for the drama the parts of Joseph, Gabriel, the Innkeeper and Innkeeper's Wife are also required. The musical can be performed in a number of ways: as a concert-piece for Choir and Narrator, as a nativity drama, using costume and the movements suggested, as a two-part work for children with an adult Mary, or as a three-part work for infants and juniors or adults and children. This musical is ideal for a school Nativity Concert, or as part of a church Christmas Service.

Instrumental Duet,Piano Harpsichord,Instrumental Duet,Organ,Piano - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.534004 Composed by Frederick Frahm. Christian,Concert,Contemporary,Sacred,Standards. Score and parts. 18 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3095065. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.534004). Fiestas de Santa Fe is a collection of music inspired by the culture and geography of Santa Fe, New Mexico. The four pieces are written for a modest instrument and with the exception of a few passages requiring the use of a pull down pedal registration, the sores are playable on the manuals only. With a few adjustments, the music can also be played on a Harpsichord or Pianoforte. The set may be played complete or individually as the performer elects.Santos, in three movements, features musical depictions of New Mexico saints which are often represented by local folk artists in either retablos (wooden panels) or bultos (carved figures). These images are not considered icons, but merely symbols of the invisible power or personages to whom an individual's prayers are addressed. San Acacio is the patron of soldiers and headaches. San Cayetano patiently ministered to the sick and the poor. San Geronimo was a flagellant who frequently heard the voice (or call) of God.Tierra Roja is inspired by the distinct natural colors and qualities of light found in the American Southwest. Sunrises and sunsets are often spectacularly colorful events which leave an indelible impression on the mind. This score includes programmatic music to suggest a timeless of the desert, the crystalline blue skies, and even the scampering of a gecko inthe noonday sun.Farolitos en la Nieve is an evocative setting of an old Christmas hymn which offers an image of the city on Christmas Eve as it is bedecked in softly lit candles on the sidewalks in the falling snow.La Posadas focuses on an annual Advent-tide event in Santa Fe which commemorates the journey of the Holy Family from Nazareth to Bethlehem. A procession is led (often by two children) through the town to find a house where Mary and Joseph might be welcome. A setting of Adoro te Devote is found in the midst of this piece evoking the reverence of the community around the manger bearing the Christ Child.

String Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1183534 Composed by Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de St. Georges. Arranged by Robert Debbaut. Classical,Contest,Festival,Historic,Multicultural,World. 28 pages. ROBERT DEBBAUT #783207. Published by ROBERT DEBBAUT (A0.1183534). How is it that one can be born a slave in French colonial Guadeloupe and rise to be among Paris’ musical giants, to become a colonel in the French Army as well as the frequent dinner guest of princes and potentates? The story of Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, is surely an interesting one, even the stuff of which movies are made.Joseph Bologne’s father, Georges Bologne de Saint-Georges was a French planter. Saint-Georges was the name of his plantation. He impregnated Anne, the Senegalese slave of his wife, who bore him a son in 1745. Uncharacteristic of many of these sort of relationships he acknowledged the child was his and gave him his family name. When he was seven Bologne’s father took him to Paris for his education, enrolling him in a boarding school. Two years later he and the child’s mother returned to France and set up housekeeping as a family in Paris’ Saint-Germain-des-Prés district. At age thirteen Joseph’s father enrolled him in the Royal Technical Academy of Fencing and Swordsmanship. He quickly became the finest swordsman in the academy, perhaps in all of Paris. Upon graduation he was made an Officer of the King’s Bodyguard and a chevalier (an honorary knighthood). He went on to serve tours of duty in the French Army during the Seven Years War (1756-1763) and later after the French Revolution, where he was Colonel and commander of an all-Black regiment of the Revolutionary Army. All this in spite of the fact that French law forbade him, a man of African heritage, to become a citizen, to retain his father’s royal title of “Gentleman of the King’s Chamber,†or to marry outside his class. There is limited information about Bologne’s musical training, but he was obviously so well-skilled that Italian violinist-composer Antonio Lolli (1725-1802) wrote two violin concertos for him and French composer François-Joseph Gossec (1734-1829) dedicated his set of String Trios, Op. 9 to Bologne. Lolli may have worked with him on violin technique and Gossec composition, but this may be apocryphal. Bologne played in Gossec’s orchestra, and was later both leader and conductor of the group. As a composer Joseph Bologne was quite prolific, composing six operas, fourteen violin concertos, four symphonies concertantes, and numerous chamber works and songs. His Six String Quartets, Op. 1, Nos. 1-6 date from 1770-1771 and were published by the Paris publishing house of Jean-Georges Sieber (1738-1822) in 1773 (There are a total of 18 quartets: Six Quartets “au goût du jour†[up-to-date] from 1779 and the Opus 14 set of six which date from 1785). The Opus 1 quartets are dedicated to Anne Louis Alexandre de Montmorency (1724-1812), 7th Prince of Robeck (Robecq) and Grand Duke of Spain. The Opus 1 quartets all display a similarity to the Italian opera overtures from earlier in the Eighteenth Century (often called “sinfoniaâ€) in that they have an overall “A-B-A†form with the ‘A’ sections being robust allegros and all ‘B’ sections marked “rondo.†As such, in arranging them for string orchestra it seemed quite natural to rename them “overtures.†Certain liberties were taken by the arranger in order to maintain the integrity of the classic Rondo formula. All six have been arranged in this manner for string orchestra. They vary in length from twelve to almost twenty minutes. If you wish to obtain parts, write to debbaut@gmail.com and pay $42 via venmo or $40 via personal check and they will be sent to you in pdf format.

Classical,Contest,Festival,Historic,Multicultural,World. 39 pages. ROBERT DEBBAUT #783209. Published by ROBERT DEBBAUT (A0.1183536). Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.918262 Arranged by Dillon's Music Group. African. Score. 3 pages. Dillon's Music Group #6013055. Published by Dillon's Music Group (A0.918262). Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child is traced back to the era of slavery. It's an expression of pain and despair as the lyrics describe the hopelessness of a child torn from its parents. Steal Away is a song with a coded message, not only about having faith in God, but messages about slaves running away to seek their freedom. Sung softly in the dark of night, it was a signal that the coast was clear and now was the time to escape their bondage. They sang hopefully: Steal away, steal away, Steal away to Jesus! Steal away, steal away home, I ain't got long to stay here. (included in Brenda Dillon's African American Collection)About the arranger: Brenda Dillon is best known for her contributions to the Recreational Music Making movement. She served on the RMM Committee that designed the RMM Track for MTNA's Pedagogy Saturday. She also presented group piano and RMM sessions throughout the U.S. In addition to serving as a teacher trainer, she has written extensive articles on both group piano and RMM teaching. She has publications with Hal Leonard and Alfred listed on her website (www.brendadillon.com).

A Childes Garden of Ecologickally Correct SONGES
Small Ensemble Guitar,Piano,Ukulele,Voice - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.992357
(+)
Small Ensemble Guitar,Piano,Ukulele,Voice - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.992357 Composed by Tim Fatchen, Flying Tadpole. Children,Contemporary,Folk. Score and parts. 44 pages. Flying Tadpole Productions #3467356. Published by Flying Tadpole Productions (A0.992357). TEN CHILDREN'S SONGS for adults and smarter kids: it's satire but ecologically, it's CORRECT! The Songes are a satirical counterpoint to the fluffy guff that's so often passed off as kids' songs. They're fun to sing, easy to play, sufficiently gross to satisfy the bloodthirsty urges of older children, entertaining and, seriously, quite scientifically correct. Honesty in children's songs, a new thing in the world! All the Songes have been tested on line and at public performance. ECOLOGICAL REALITY BYTES! It's not all sweetness and light and tree-hugs out there in the Wonderful Ecological World, oh no! So here's the start of a re-education in ecological reality for you! Explore the murderous wooden hearts of trees! Learn the real reason for the decline of Fairy Penguins! Find your place on the Food Chain! There's an architecturally-acclaimed how-to blend your house with nature! And there's more!LEAD SHEETS, LYRIC SHEETS WITH CHORDS, LINER NOTESEach of the Songes can be printed separately as a 4-page booklet, with the lead sheets on the central two pages, the title and liner notes on the front page, and the lyrics only + chords on the back page.PARENTAL ADVISORY! While there's no profanity or overt/covert sexual innuendo anywhere, some adults find the content challenging, because it's not the view of Nature they'd like to have. Kids find these Songes great, especially the grosser ones, and may be able to help such adults cope. There should be parental or other adult guidance in anything like this because it is satire and may need explaining, and it's not for young children. FLYING TADPOLE AND TIM FATCHENThe virtual band Flying Tadpole started as a boat and turned into a state of mind. Mainly the cutting satire, cruel humor, blue angst and general mayhem of the scurrilous and dark alter ego of Tim Fatchen, Flying Tadpole is occasionally joined by others unwise enough to cross to the Dark Side, but wise enough to remain on another Continent. Both lurk in the depths of Mr Dunn's 1844 Mill, in Mount Barker in the beautiful Adelaide Hills, South Australia, and try not to be a blight on the landscape. Composer’s Note - Treasure ChestI was commissioned by the Canberra International Music Festival in 2016 to write a work for children’s chorus. The concert was a Mothers’ Day event, sponsored by a couple of local boutique chocolatiers, so the works on the program were all chocolate and coffee themed, including J S Bach’s Coffee Cantata and a bunch of songs from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The festival’s Artistic Director Roland Peelman asked me if I could write a new piece on this theme. So I got thinking about chocolate and about Mothers’ Day and about how when you’re a little kid and have no earnings, you still give your mum a present for her special day (that is, your dad pays for it and you sign the card!). And if it’s chocolate, you might give her your favourite chocolate instead of hers, and all you are really waiting for is for her to offer you one. When I was a child, I always used to think of chocolate boxes as treasure chests, full of shining precious things only consumed on very special occasions. Because they were such a rarity, you really had to savour each sweet taste and gooey texture. I ’m sure from this song, you’ll be able to tell that I am a big sweet tooth!-- Sally Whitwell

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1030539 By Thad Jones. By Thad Jones. Arranged by Alison Crockett. Jazz. Octavo. 6 pages. Generations of Vocal Jazz #6413577. Published by Generations of Vocal Jazz (A0.1030539). This beautiful waltz can be used at any time during the year, but I have commonly used it as a Jazz Christmas song since the lyrics are about a child being born and the beauty of that moment. This is for an intermediate/advanced choir, though it is a good stretch for an intermediate choir in high school and college. There is a scat/solo group section that widens into a grand ending with a gospel-like ostinato at the end. Here is the place for your solo riffers and belters to solo at the end over top of the ostinato and have church at the end with your singers and audience. This is a crowd pleaser and a great concert ender.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Digital Download SKU: A0.774720 Composed by Alfonso Maria de' Liguori. Arranged by Sandra Milliken. Christian,Christmas,Classical,Sacred. Octavo. 15 pages. Sandra Milliken #3676507. Published by Sandra Milliken (A0.774720). Bambino dalle stelle (Child of the Stars )is a choral arrangement based on the traditional Italian Christmas carol Tu scendi dalla stelle (From Starry Skies Descending).Tu scendi dalla stelle is amongst the oldest of Christmas songs in Italy. The original version was written in the mid-1700s in Naples by the Catholic Bishop of Sant'Agata dei Goti, Alfonso Maria de’ Ligouri. At that time it was called Quanno nascette Ninno and was written in the Neapolitan dialect in the style of a pastorale. The song was later re-written in Italian by Pope Pius IX and thereafter it became famous as a Christmas carol all over the world.Originally containing seven verses, today’s performances of the carol in Italy generally include only the first two verses. Notable recordings and performances of the carol include those by Sergio Franchi, Andrea Bocelli and Luciano Pavarotti. This English language arrangement has been extended to four verses. Verse 1 and 2 are adaptations of the first two verses of the original; the third verse tells of the adoration of the shepherds and the wise men; and the fourth is based on some ideas inspired by the remaining verses of the original version.Instrumental accompanimentAvailable separately is an instrumental accompaniment scored for string quintet and glockenspiel. Chamber Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1226069 By George Frideric Handel. By George Frideric Handel. Arranged by Charles A. Gravenhorst. Classical,Historic,Religious,Sacred,Traditional. Score and Parts. 23 pages. CG Publications #821953. Published by CG Publications (A0.1226069). Handel’s inspiring chorus from “MESSIAH†is here arranged and re-voiced for MEN’S CHORUS (T.T.B.) and small ensemble of instruments (Violin, Trumpet, Trombone, Keyboard or Guitar Continuo). Difficult melismatic passages have been simplified, without diminishing their musical integrity, to allow for an effective and impressive, but easier, performance for groups of even modest resources. Performance requires an accomplished violinist but only players of modest ability in the other instruments. Also, appropriate substitutions are permitted. Sheet music provided here includes FULL SCORE and PART SCORES for all instruments. A separate score of Vocal Parts alone may be obtained for a modest price, as well as other selections from the MEN’S MESSIAH SERIES arranged for T.T.B. Voices, from CG Publications through Sheet Music Direct/Sheet Music Plus.
