Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1462643 Composed by Irish Traditional. Arranged by Konrad Harley. Celtic,Irish. Score. 5 pages. Konrad Harley #1041402. Published by Konrad Harley (A0.1462643). Based on a traditional Irish melody (Tell me dear Eveleen) and words from The Irish Minstrel (Edinburgh: Robert Purdie, 1825), p. 48. Arranged by Konrad Harley (1986-), 2024.Lyrics: On a green bank gentle Mary was seated,Night's gloomy mantle was curtain'd around,And softly each note list'ning Echo repeated,As she breath'd the melting sound.“Oh! sweetest hope, thou art my treasure,With a tear I look to thee!Heigh ho! a farewell to pleasure,Till my Lover returns to me!Oh! sweetest hope, thou art my treasure,With a tear I look to thee!Heigh ho! a farewell to pleasure,Till my Lover returns to me!”Chill fell the dews, and the night it was dreary,Wildly the wind from the mountain now rov'd;The dews and the wind were unheeded by Mary,She thought but of him she lov'd:Again she sung, “Thou art my treasure,Oh! sweet hope, I look to thee!Heigh ho! a farewell to pleasure,Till my Edmund returns to me!”Again she sung, “Thou art my treasure,Oh! sweet hope, I look to thee!Heigh ho! a farewell to pleasure,Till my Edmund returns to me,Till my Edmund returns to me.”.

Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.553781 Composed by George Butterworth. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Spiritual,Standards. 52 pages. RayThompsonMusic #4350463. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553781). The Banks of Green Willow The original is a short orchestral piece by George Butterworth, probably the most played of his three works for orchestra. It has certainly been his most recorded orchestral work. Described by its composer as an Idyll, and written in 1913, it is scored for a small orchestra consisting of two flutes, two oboes, two clarinets, two bassoons, two horns, one trumpet, harp and strings.Butterworth based The Banks of Green Willow on two folk song melodies that he noted in 1907 - The Banks of Green Willow and Green bushes. This popular piece is often used on TV in programmes with wholesome panoramic views of the British countryside. It has a relaxing pastoral English feel to it.This arrangement is in the original key so requires 2 clarinets in A. (alternate clarinets in Bb are provided)I have arranged it for wind dectet (double wind quintet) and bass.Opt. tuba/contra bassoon. I have also added an optional cut, avoiding the middle section, so that you can play it as reflective background music..There is an additional bar, to be omitted in the full version, and played in the cut one!The 4th mvt of Percy Aldridge Grainger's Lincolnshire Posy The Lost Lady Found has a similar tune to Green BushesI have arranged it for wind dectetThe mp3 is a live performance by Alliance Classical Players of New York on 21 June 2023.You can also purchase my wind quintet arrangement of Green Willow.I have also arranged English Idyll No.1 for wind dectet.https://youtu.be/_3YQfpnwaE4.

Brass Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.940657 Composed by George Butterworth. Arranged by Jonathan Spencer. Romantic Period. Score and parts. 50 pages. Jonathan Spencer #3691335. Published by Jonathan Spencer (A0.940657). George Butterworth (1885-1916) was an English composer before he his untimely death during WW1. As a composer he showed real potential, but left behind only a few compositions - The Banks of Green Willow being one of them. Written in 1913 the composer described the work as an Idyll based on two folk songs - The Banks of Green Willow and Green Bushes. This arrrangement for brass ensemble remains as close to the original as possible, whilst making it achievable for brass musicians. A challenging arrangement of a super work by a composer killed surving his country. Arrranged in 2018, 100 years after the end of WW1.

Folk Songs For Classical Guitar - Volume 15 (Songs 379-405)

Acoustic Guitar,Instrumental Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1153433 Composed by Traditional/Anonymous. Arranged by Socrates Arvanitakis. Classical,Early Music,Folk,Traditional. Individual part. 44 pages. Socrates Arvanitakis #753694. Published by Socrates Arvanitakis (A0.1153433). This is the fifteenth volume of an extensive collection of folk songs arranged for the classical guitar mostly in two-part counterpoint. The arrangements are of moderate difficulty and the aims of this publication are to familiarise, entertain and educate guitarists (and other musicians) with a melodic repertoire of lasting aesthetic value, under the light of contrapuntal treatment. The thirty five volumes of this collection can certainly be printed on paper if so desired and there are a few pages in each volume, either blank or with photographs of various musicians, which can be inserted at will in any place for the correct ordering of left and right hand pages so that page turns can be avoided. The principle of avoiding page turns has been maintained in all volumes, but this edition is also designed with mobile electronic devices in mind such as tablets etc, using the environment and facilities of a score reading application, towards a paperless world, at least in music. Therefore the size of the staves is bigger than usual for ease of reading on a small screen but not big enough to exceed the limit of a two-page view. Active internal links for navigating from thematic indexes to particular songs and back to indexes have been added, and also external internet links to sites that give further information for the 945 songs of this first collection for classical guitar.Volume 15 (Songs 379-405)Green Grow the Rushes ohGreen mossy banks of the LeaGreen Willow Tree (The)Greenland Fishery (The)GreensleevesGresford Disaster (The)Grey Cock or The Lover’s Ghost (The)Grey Selkie 1 (The)Grigol CridheGround for the FloorGuise O’ ToughGuy Fawkes (Drum March For)Gypsy DaveyHampshire Mummers’ Christmas CarolHandsome Butcher (the)Hard Times of Old EnglandHark, hark, let us behold (Russell)Hark, Shepherds Hark, The Angels SingHarvest Song (Wiltshire)He Called for a CandleHe That Will Not Merry Merry BeHeavenly Child (The)Help Me O LordHenry MartinHenry, My SonHere Come the NavviesHere we come a-wassailing

Bassoon,Clarinet,Double Bass,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1251539 Composed by Arr. Michael Sweeney and Percy Aldridge Grainger. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Folk. 24 pages. RayThompsonMusic #845816. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1251539). Lincolnshire Posy is a musical composition by Percy Grainger for concert band commissioned in 1937 by the American Bandmasters Association. Considered by John Bird, the author of Grainger's biography, to be his masterpiece, the 16-minute-long work has six movements, each adapted from folk songs that Grainger had collected on a 1905–1906 trip to Lincolnshire, England. In a similar fashion to these folk songs, many of the movements are in strophic form. This is my arrangement of No.VI. The Lost Lady FoundArranged symphonic wind dectet (double wind quintet) and bassA lilting 3/4 melody in strophic form. As the tempo is too fast for the conductor to gesture each beat of every measure, the movement is typically conducted in 1 where each gesture given by the conductor indicates a full measure instead of each beat. Every section of the ensemble states the theme at some point in the movement. This movement is based on the ballad of the same name,in which a lady, who while living with her uncle in a village is kidnapped by three Roma. After being missing for a long time, the villagers begin to speculate that the uncle is responsible for her disappearance, later imprisoning him and condemning him to death. At some point, the lady was found in Dublin by a young squire who loved her and was subsequently brought back to the village. Upon return to the village, the villagers, mere moments away from executing the uncle at the gallows, realized their error and set the uncle free, celebrating the lady's return with church bells (which are emulated by the tubular bells in the closing of the movement), music, and frivolity. As this movement was not yet completed at the time of the work's premiere, it was omitted for the performance. For Info:Green Bushes is an English folk song which is featured in the second movement of Vaughan Williams's English Folk Song Suite, in Percy Grainger's Green Bushes (Passacaglia on an English Folksong), and in George Butterworth's The Banks of Green Willow. The melody is very similar to that of the Lost Lady Found movement.

Banjo - Beginning; Intermediate; Advanced - Digital Download SKU: M0.31054MEB Folk. Old Time. Ebook and online audio. 185 pages. Mel Bay Publications - Digital Sheet Music #31054MEB. Published by Mel Bay Publications - Digital Sheet Music (M0.31054MEB). ISBN 9781513477107. 8.75X11.75 inches. The island of Cape Breton and its close neighbor, Prince Edward Island in eastern Canada are home to two of the oldest, strongest, and most vibrant fiddling traditions in North America. Cape Breton gave rise to a professional Celtic-based fiddling scene to rival anything coming out of Scotland and Ireland. Prince Edward Island’s traditional fiddlers developed lively, idiosyncratic styles every bit as musically compelling as anything you’ll hear on archival recordings of iconic American old-time fiddlers from the Appalachians. This book features 136 tunes from these two distinct but related fiddling traditions, collected by the author directly from master fiddlers, and arranged note-for-note for clawhammer banjo with as much flavor and nuance as possible. These settings of reels, hornpipes, jigs, marches, strathspeys, airs, and other fiddle tunes are all eminently playable and fully benefit from the author’s half-century of experience playing banjo, arranging for banjo, writing banjo instruction books, and researching fiddle-music traditions. Here’s what you’ll find in this volume. 136 fiddle tunes arranged for clawhammer banjo in clear tablatureOver 40 musical examples and exercisesInstruction on basic and advanced techniquesFingering diagrams and detailed fingering suggestionsA systematic approach to playing up-the-neckA thorough treatment of playing triplets, grace notes, and other characteristic ornaments in clawhammerGuides on how to approach playing various kinds of fiddle tunesA framework for understanding the modes encountered in fiddle musicHistorical notes on the tunes and musical traditionsBiographical information on source fiddlers169 audio illustrations available online Note: Most audio illustrations for the tunes in this book are drawn directly from the author’s CDs, Devil in the Kitchen, Frails and Frolics, Island Boy, and Northern Banjo.

Tales From The Northern Woods tells a story from the composer's daydream. As person who is born and raised in a big, metropolitan city, the composer wanted to tell a story of what it feels like to begin an adventure in the woods. An adventure of a peaceful life, a life that is neither caged nor surrounded by the ‘concrete jungle’ in the big city, where there is only green. Miles of green, where a small village sits on the banks of the river, beautiful, idyllic, and lush. Somewhere that probably only exists in epic high-fantasy stories. Full of exciting and tense adventure. Tales From The Northern Woods is one of the three winners of the 5th Young Indonesian Composer Competition that was held on January 2022. Premiered by The Bandung Philharmonic on Chamber Music Konser Pemenang Kompetisi Komponis Muda Indonesia, 14 May 2022, at Auditorium Gedung PPAG UNPAR.

Published by Forton Music - Digital (F2.FM481). ISBN 9790570483808.Brass 4 All This piece was inspired by the brass section of the WNO, the importance of 'Music For All', and the need to make it accessible to children. A stately introduction opens the piece, with all the instruments passing the theme between them. This leads into a the main body of the piece, a bold, driving tune that contrasts with a more lyrical middle section before bursting out into fanfares of repeated notes to bring the music to a thrilling finish. Brass Neck The tuba is featured prominently in ths piece. The repeated motif drives the rhythm forward: 'Cry the tears for the freezing years. Just walk away' ... as the other players finally do. Marked Andantino and in Bb major the central section changes to Bb minor, where the horn and trombone carry the melody. This is then taken up be the second trumpet and the players stand as the music modulates back to Bb major. As each player finishes they sit down until the tuba is left to finish alone. Autumn Breeze A sultry September evening and a gentle breeze fans the last of the fading flowers. The family are gathered informally, and the music begins.... Marked Andante and with flowing descending quavers, the opening has interest for every player. The horn and then the trombone pick up the central theme, and this is then embellished by the trumpets. A gentle phrase marks the ending. Bankers Notes A letter drops on the mat. A final demand and the thought of the 'green paper rotting in their clutch' assails my mind. I write notes of a differnt kind! The opening is marked Vivace and is rather punchy, but soon settles into the main theme with driving rhythms throughout. The extended ending climaxes in rising staccato semiquavers for all.

Tuba, Euphonium, Tuba Quintet - Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Glenn Miller. Arranged by Keith Terrett. 20th Century, Jazz, Swing, Old-time. Score, Set of Parts. 8 pages. Published by Music for all Occasions
Moonlight Serenade" arranged here for Tuba Quintet, is an American popular song composed by Glenn Miller with subsequent lyrics by Mitchell Parish. It was an immediate phenomenon when first released in May 1939 as an instrumental arrangement and was adopted as Miller’s signature tune. In 1991, Miller’s recording of "Moonlight Serenade" was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

The song, recorded on April 4, 1939 on RCA Bluebird, was a Top Ten hit on the U.S. pop charts in 1939, reaching number three on the Billboard charts, where it stayed for fifteen weeks. It was the number 5 top pop hit of 1939 in the Billboard year-end tally. Glenn Miller had five records in the top 20 songs of 1939 on Billboard′s list.

In the UK, "Moonlight Serenade" was released as the A-side of a 78 on His Master’s Voice, with "American Patrol" as the B-side. The recording reached number twelve in the UK in March 1954, staying on the chart for one week. In a medley with "Little Brown Jug" and "In the Mood", "Moonlight Serenade" reached number thirteen on the UK charts in January 1976, in a chart run of eight weeks.

The recording was also issued as a V-Disc, No. 39A, in November 1943.

The recording used a clarinet-led saxophone section, which is widely considered[citation needed] the classic Glenn Miller style. Miller studied the Schillinger technique with Joseph Schillinger, who is credited with helping Miller create the "Miller sound", and under whose tutelage he himself composed "Moonlight Serenade".

The song evolved from a 1935 version entitled "Now I Lay Me Down to Weep", with music by Glenn Miller and lyrics by Eddie Heyman to a version called "Gone with the Dawn" with lyrics by George Simon, and "The Wind in the Trees" with lyrics by Mitchell Parish. In his biography of Glenn Miller, George T. Simon recounted how vocalist Al Bowlly of the Ray Noble Orchestra sang him the Eddie Heyman lyrics to the Glenn Miller music of "Now I Lay Me Down to Weep" in 1935. The Noble Orchestra never recorded the song. Finally it ended up as "Moonlight Serenade" because Robbins Music bought the music and learned that Miller was recording a cover of "Sunrise Serenade", a Frankie Carle associated song, for RCA Victor. They thought "Moonlight" would be a natural association for "Sunrise".

"Now I Lay Me Down to Weep" was composed in 1935 with lyrics by Eddie Heyman and music by Glenn Miller. After "Moonlight Serenade", originally released solely as an instrumental, became a smash hit in 1939, Mitchell Parish wrote new lyrics for the music under that title.

A notable vocal version can be found on Frank Sinatra’s Moonlight Sinatra released in 1965, which also contains "Moon Love", "Moonlight Becomes You", and "Oh, You Crazy Moon", which were recorded by Glenn Miller and his Orchestra. "Moonlight Serenade" can also be found on Nothing But the Best, a 2008 Frank Sinatra greatest hits compilation by Reprise, on My Way: The Best of Frank Sinatra from 1997 by Warner Bros., and the Frank Sinatra compilation Greatest Love Songs from 2002. Frank Sinatra also released the song as part of an 7" EP 33RPM single in 1966, Reprise SR1018. The song also appeared on the 2015 centennial collection Ultimate Sinatra. In 1939, Count Basie and His Orchestra recorded one of the earliest versions to feature the lyrics added by Mitchell Parish which was released as a 78 single, Vocalion 5036.

"Moonlight Serenade" has been covered by Barry Manilow, Carly Simon, The Airmen of Note of the U.S. Air Force with Air Force Strings, Charlie Haden, Marc Reift, Chet Baker with The Mariachi Brass in 1966, Santo and Johnny, Thelma Houston, Carol Burnett, Toots Thielemans, Deodato, who reached number 18 on the Billboard Easy Listening Chart, Count Basie and his Orchestra with vocals by Helen Humes in 1939, Benny Goodman and his Orchestra, Cab Calloway, The Modernaires, Gene Krupa and his Orchestra, Freddy Martin and his Orchestra, Bert Kaempfert, Ray Conniff, Mina, Dick Todd on RCA Bluebird, Geoff Love and His Orchestra, Lloyd Gregory on solo guitar, Dick Hyman, Maxwell Davis and his Orchestra, Tony Evans, Los Indios Tabajaras, David Rose, Richard Himber, Fi Dells Quartet, Waikikis, The Universal-International Orchestra conducted by Joseph Gershenson, Oleg Lundstrom, Charlie Byrd, Taco, Alix Combelle, Richard Vaughn, Lisa Ono, Eddie Maynard, Simone Kopmajer, Hamburg Philharmonia, Frankie Capp, Dave, Robert Banks Trio, Karel Vlach, Transatlantic Swing Band, the Frankie Condon Orchestra, The Romantic Strings, Paul Mauriat, Tommy Leonetti, Johnny Desmond, the Boston Pops under Arthur Fiedler, John Williams, and Keith Lockhart, Charlie Calello Orchestra, J.P. Composed by John W. Duarte (1919-). Editiones Classicae. Folk. E-book. Mel Bay Publications - Digital Sheet Music #98183EB. Published by Mel Bay Publications - Digital Sheet Music
ISBN 9781609742850.

Alexandre Lagoya once said: For one guitar you can write what the guitar will allow you to write. For two guitars you can write what you choose. While there is a measure of overstatement in this, it remains true that the medium of two guitars allows much greater creative freedom to the composer. There are many kinds of guitar-duo works- at one extreme the very simple, at the other the call for two virtuosi; those in this book inhabit the middle of this spectrum. They are not in effect accompanied guitar solos but equal duets in which two players of moderate technical ability converse with one another, sharing the lead. This they do without sacrificing musical interest. Two of the pieces consist of variations on folk tunes - Shades of Green uses the Irish tune The Next Market Day, while Varieties of Scotch is based on the well-known Scottish tune Ye Banks and Braes. The remaining duet is an affectionate nod in the ragtime direction of Scott Joplin. The two sets of variations are suitable for concert use, and Joblinesque is a natural ending.ISBN 9781609742850.

Alexandre Lagoya once said: For one guitar you can write what the guitar will allow you to write.
