Concert Band - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1514095 Composed by James Urech. 20th Century,Chamber. 16 pages. Outlaw Run Publishing #1088558. Published by Outlaw Run Publishing (A0.1514095). Youngstown is a city in Ohio near the state’s border with Pennsylvania which fueled America's burgeoning industrial revolution with its steel manufacturing. After World War II, however, Youngstown began a slow economic decline as its economy failed to diversify. This culminated on “Black Monday,” September 19, 1977, when several steel plants shut down, destroying over 5,000 jobs overnight, and tens of thousands more in the coming months. This piece attempts to capture the history and spirit of Youngstown through the multifaceted textures of the wind band. With light flowing textures representing the city's beginnings as an iron mining town to harsher, industrial sounds for its height of influence, both give way to the devastation of Black Monday. Despite this, a melodic throughline permeates the darkness, representing the survival of the soul of Youngstown.Youngstown is a challenging, soulful, and emotional piece that should be playable by varsity-level high school bands and college wind ensembles. Score is formatted for 11x17 paper. For parts, reach out to me directly at jamesurech@yahoo.com, and I will provide well-formatted PDFs of the parts for no charge.

Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.1499674). Intrumental version of my song inspired by this poem by Mary Holtby (by way of a parody on TS Eliot's Macavity the mystery cat).McQuiddity is a naughty and very funny dog:McQuiddity, McQuiddity, there's no-one like McQuiddityHis errors are so vulgar and so coarse in their solidityYou may walk along the pavementYou may step upon the stairIt's odorously evident McQuiddity's been thereMcQuiddity, McQuiddity, there's no-one like McQuiddityHe doesn't know the meaning of decorum or timidityHe barks at friends and neighboursand will give the boss a scareBut when burglars cart the silver off, he doesn't turn a hairIf you stagger through a doorwayWith an overloaded trayYou can bet that old McQuiddity's lying in the wayIf the chocolates vanish overnightor gloves vacate a chairThen it's absolutely certain that McQuiddity's been there.McQuiddity, McQuiddity, there's no-one like McQuiddityHe's totally unrivalled in the depth of his stupidityHis canine infelicities no cretin could surpassHe's undisputed champion of the disobedience classMcQuiddity!

Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.1475281). Giacomo Puccini composed Crisantemi (Chrysanthemums) for string quartet in one overnight sitting in January of 1890 after hearing of the unexpected death of his close friend Amadeo di Savoia, the former King of Spain. Bass Flute,Instrumental Solo,Piano - Level 2 - SKU: A0.549430 Composed by Antonin Dvorak. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Instructional,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. Score and individual part. 12 pages. Jmsgu3 #3494193. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549430). Score: 7 pages, solo part: 2 pages, piano part: 3 pages. Duration: 4:25 Not difficult, but requires sensitivity & dynamic control. Suitable for recitals, church meditations, or school programs.  Dvořák Background AntonÃn Dvořák (1841 –1904) was, of course, a composer from Czechoslovakia. As a matter of fact, he was among the first Bohemian composers to attain universal recognition. It is important to realize that the late Romantic Nationalist period featured composers who used traditional and folk elements to portray the character of their nation. In particular, we see this in the music of Grieg (Norway), Finland (Sibelius), and Smetana (Bohemia).  Dvořák relied markedly on rhythms and other characteristics of Moravian and Bohemian folk music. Ascent to Fame Dvořák was truly a child musical prodigy on the violin. The premiere performances of his compositions notably occurred in 1872 and 1873. He submitted his First Symphony in particular to a German competition, but it failed to win. Consequently, in 1874 he presented two more symphonies to the Austrian State Prize for Composition. Johannes Brahms was the principal of the jury and was accordingly very impressed. They forthwith awarded the prize to Dvořák in 1874, 1876, and 1877. At this point, Brahms thereupon endorsed Dvořák to the publisher Simrock. Later, the publisher commissioned Dvořák to compose the Slavonic Dances, Op. 46. These became popular overnight and, as a result, Dvořák's worldwide status was launched. International Status Dvořák visited England upon invitation nine times. On each visit, he frequently conducted performances of his own compositions. He conducted concerts of his music, especially in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Eventually, the Prague Conservatory in fact appointed Dvořák as a professor. There, to be sure, he wrote his famous Dumky Trio. United States Consequently, the National Conservatory of Music of America appointed him as director in 1892. As a result, Dvořák composed his two most famous symphonic works: the Symphony No. 9 (From the New World), which spread his name universally, and his Concerto for Cello and Orchestra, one of the most famous of all cello works. Moreover, he wrote his most celebrated American String Quartet during this time. At the same time, because of his growing recognition in Europe and his homesickness for his own country, he left to return to Bohemia in 1895.

Written for German euphonium virtuoso Klemens Vetter in 2021, this work is a musical reflection on the global health event that rocked the world in 2020—shutting down musical performances around the globe overnight. Coupled with this shutdown came depression, anxiety, and despair for many. Composer Todd Goodman wrote this piece as a letter to his future self—sending comfort, love, and hope that everything will turn out ok.For physical copies of this piece and more information about composer Todd Goodman, please visit WrongNoteMedia.com.
