Piano Solo - Digital Download SKU: A0.1087984 Composed by Eamon Mukhopadhyay. Contemporary. Score. 31 pages. Eamon Mukhopadhyay #692177. Published by Eamon Mukhopadhyay (A0.1087984). These three pieces are to mimic studies of voicing and touch through lyrical forms. Each specific BPM marking in the tempo is intentionally preceded with ossia rather than ca.. This is to emphasize complete tempo freedom for the performer. The BPM markings are simply given as an initial baseline, showing the general tempo that the composer would perform these pieces at. Neither of the three pieces finish with a triad. Instead, they end with some form of extended harmony, whether it be through a chord or arpeggio. Neither the specific meaning of the piece nor the method to play the piece is included in the piece descriptions following this sentence, as those choices are specific to the performer. Nocturne in A Major (Op. 1 No. 1) uses both contemporary and traditional harmonic concepts, with add9 chords and extended harmonies integrating further color into the piece. Much material of Winter Landscapes in E-Flat Minor (Op. 1 No. 2) is built upon a simple four-note motif (in regards to scale degrees, the motif follows the pattern of 1-7-2-1). To note - this piece never resolves to the traditional E-Flat minor triad. Lastly, Tribute in D major (Op. 1 No. 3), similar to the other two pieces (of the Op. 1 set), uses multiple forms of extended harmonies through chords and arpeggios, such as add9 and dominant thirteenth harmony.

Fantasia Sonata in D Major for piano solo - Ludwig van Beethoven (Unv 12 / deest 45) - Reconstructio

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.933520 Composed by Ludwig van Beeth…

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.933520 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven, Cees Nieuwenhuizen. Classical. Score. 48 pages. Upstream Music #482215. Published by Upstream Music (A0.933520). There are many more unfinished than completed compositions of Beethoven that have been preserved. ln these fragments one sees ideas for individual works. A large number of sketchbooks and sketches from the composer were preserved and are housed in libraries and private collections all over the globe. Some sketches are no more than brief experiments or short elaborated ideas, but there are also fragments preserved that nearly give us a complete picture of a composition. In the so-called Kafka sketchbook, which was published in 1970 in London, approximately 500 fragments of manuscripts were bundled that stem from 1786 - 1799. The Fantasia Sonata in D (deest 45) for piano forte in three parts, was hidden in the archives since 1792. This sonata of the young Beethoven, with striking similarities to the Moonlight sonata and the Pastorale has never been performed on stage. Young pianotalent Martin Oei played it for the first time in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, October 21st, 2012. The large, over 1100 bars comprising torso now known as Fantasia Sonata in D from 1792, cannot be called a sketch anymore, although Beethoven has not completed the work and used many ideas in other, later works. The reconstruction of the sketches was done by the Dutch Beethoven musicologist and composer Cees Nieuwenhuizen. The piece was probably written in Bonn, three years before he started to write his first official piano sonata of a series of 32 sonatas. In November 1792 Beethoven went from Bonn to Vienna to study with the famous composer Joseph Haydn (1732–1809). Beethoven rapidly proceeded to make his mark as a brilliant keyboard performer and as a gifted young composer with a number of works to his credit. In 1795 his first mature published works appeared, and his career was officially launched. Striking harmonies The re-using of previously drafted material is quite common in Beethoven's works. Apparently the material wasn't yet ripe enough at the time of its origination, or perhaps Beethoven changed his mind with regards to the new composition. This could very well be so regarding the torso from Kafka’s sketchbook that we now call the Piano Fantasia sonata in D. This piece contains 1100 bars of music, not taking into account the alternative bars. The piece is composed by Beethoven in 1792 - 1793 and was set up as a tripartite sonata in D with remarkable abnormalities in terms of form and content. There are striking harmonies that cannot be found in other works composed in that same period. It’s possible that the composer didn’t have the courage to publish it or that indeed the time was not yet ripe for it. Finally the composer let the draft go and never came back to it. Or did he? Thematic similarities We find phrases in several later works that share similarities with ideas and themes from Fantasia sonata in D. The first part of Fantasia sonata has the same theme as the trio of the third movement of Symphony no. 7 (in A Major Opus 92). Even the key and also the rhythm in 3/4 time are the same. This cannot be a coincidence. Similar mood and thematic parallels can be found in the Pastorale, the Sonata for piano no. 15 (Opus 28): it is striking that this piece is also composed in D and in 3/4 time. We find similar dramatic expression in the Sonata for piano no. I 7 in d minor Opus 31 no. 2. The second movement of the Fantasia sonata nearly has the same theme as the second movement of the Sonata for piano no. 23 in minor (the Appassionato Opus 57). Martin Oei, Daiel Wayenberg, Cees Nieuwenhuizen at The World Premiere in The Concertgebouw Beethoven begins the third movement of the Fantasia sonata with the main theme of the first movement, but now in e minor. lts appearance in minor is an entirely new idea. Nevertheless Beethoven doesn't elaborate the idea any further because it disappears after 29 bars. Now a new agitated theme starts in d minor, which was announced in the first movement, but now reappears in its complete.

Thomas Oboe Lee #2032483. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869323). YouTube link: https://www.youtube.com/user/thomasoboelee/videosWhen the Reed sisters, Elizabeth & Lydia, asked me to write a new work for two pianos, I wasn't quite sure where or how to begin. Then I came upon a book on numerology by Annemarie Schimmel, The Mystery of Numbers. In it I discovered a lot of fascinating things, mystical and magical, associated with each number from one to 10,000. Since I would be writing a piece for a duo, double digits would do the trick. Number 22 stood out. It has two important associations: the Hebrew alphabet has 22 letters, and there are 22 major arcana cards or allegories of the Tarot. Perfect! I could write 22 pieces, each a musical rendering of a card. And, coincidentally, this work will opus 66.For pictorial inspiration, I bought a Pierpont Morgan Library copy of the Visconti-Sforza Tarot Cards from 15th century Italy. For musical inspiration, I listened to the wonderful salon music of the Polish composer Frederic Chopin, the American composer Louis Moreau Gottschalk, and the Brazilian composer Ernesto Nazareth. The 22 pieces in the Visconti-Sforza Tarot Cards are: Zero Il Matto The Fool entertains the gathered guests with a tarantella. I. Il Saltimbanco The Mountebank shuffles his cards and does a samba. II. La Papessa The High Priestess concocts a magic potion. III. L'Imperatrice The Empress dances all night. IV. L'Imperatore The Emperor promenades into the Great Hall and inspects the courtiers. V. Il Papa The Pope makes a proclamation that all sinners will be pardoned. VI. L'Amore Love in a tropical paradise. VII. Il Carro Triumphant in battle, the gladiators ride into town on chariots. VIII. La Giustizia Justice is swift and unrelenting. IX. Il Vecchio The Old Man reminisces. X. La Ruota della Fortuna Fortunes rise and fall unpredictably. XI. La Fortezza Strength and fortitude will prevail. XII. Il Penduto Lamentation for the Hanged Man. XIII. Il Morte Death lurks around the corner. XIV. La Temperanza Temperance in A major. XV. Il Diavolo The Devil seduces with his charm and wit. XVI. La Torre The tower topples and crashes onto the populace gathered below. XVII. La Stella Twinkle, twinkle, little star ... XVIII. La Luna Minuet for moonstruck lovers. XIX Il Sole Sunshine, margaritas and salsa cubana. XX Il Giudizio On the Day of Judgment, the angels blow their trumpets ... XXI. Il Mondo The world would be a happier place if we all dance together. Performance option: Shuffle the 22 allegory cards from the Tarot deck to determine the order of performance.

Jmsgu3 #3447439. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549015). Alto Sax version of Moment Musicaux, Op. 94 (D. 780) No. 3 by Franz Schubert, published in 1828. Duration: 1:53 Score 6 pg. 54 ms. Alto Sax 1 pg. Piano part 3 pg. One of Schubert's most well-known pieces. This is an effective recital encore due to its brevity and range of expression. Could work well for a variety of occasions: wedding receptions, church services (Easter), and anniversaries. It seems like a pleasant dance, unlike some previous dance music. Schubert improvised these dances at parties for his friends.  Although conceived on-the-fly, these dances are the work of a genius. Composers have similarly elevated dance music to artistic status. As a result, they freed it from the original purpose of dancing. Certainly, the older masters used the dance forms as vehicles for complex treatments. Here, however, Schubert retains the dance-like quality while finally expressing his innermost thoughts and emotions. The dance is certainly filled with a doleful expression, yet the texture remains even more light and refined. Therefore, to perform these with sensitivity we probably need to use a light but accurate touch. The accompaniment pattern needs to be crisp and delicate – probably even in the more forceful parts. The piano pedal should also be used very carefully so as a result not to blur the outline. Instead, it should contribute to the dynamic quality of the piece. Schubert Franz Schubert (1797–1828) was, in fact, a famous Austrian composer. Moreover, he composed during the late Classical and early Romantic periods. Schubert was comparatively prolific. He wrote more than 600 secular vocal works, seven symphonies, and, correspondingly, a massive amount of piano and chamber music. Critics agree, as a matter of fact, that his most famous works include his Piano Quintet in A major, D. 667 (also known as the Trout Quintet), the Symphony No. 8 in B minor, D. 759 (Unfinished Symphony), the last sonatas for piano (D. 958–960), and the song cycles Die schöne Müllerin (D. 795) and Winterreise (D. 911). Education Schubert was furthermore a musical child prodigy. He studied violin with his father as well as piano with his older brother. In addition, when Schubert was eleven he studied at Stadtkonvikt school, where he became familiar with the orchestral music of Haydn, Mozart, and likewise Beethoven. In due time he left school and returned home where he studied to become an educator; nevertheless, he continued studying composition with Antonio Salieri. Performance Eventually, Schubert was admitted to the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde as a performer. This appointment straightaway established his name in Vienna as a composer and pianist. Finally, he gave his only composition recital in 1828. He died suddenly a few months later probably due to typhoid fever. Legacy Schubert’s music was by and large underappreciated while he was alive. There were all in all only a few enthusiasts in Vienna. After he died, however, interest in his work in fact increased. Felix Mendelssohn, Robert Schumann, Franz Liszt, Johannes Brahms, and other famous composers in due time discovered his compositions. Nowadays, historians rank Schubert expressly among the greatest composers of the era, and his music remains in general very popular.

March in D Major - BWV Anh. 122

Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1368455 By Jose Valladares. By Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Jose Valladares. Baroque. Score. 1 pages. Circlesquare Music #952801. Published by Circlesquare Music (A0.1368455). The March in D Major, BWV Anh. 122 is attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach, one of the most influential composers of the Baroque era. However, it's important to note that BWV Anh. 122 is part of the Anhang (Anh.), a section of the Bach-Werke-Verzeichnis (Bach Works Catalogue) that includes works of dubious authenticity or those once attributed to Bach but later found to be composed by other composers. In the case of BWV Anh. 122, it's generally believed that the piece was not composed by J.S. Bach himself but rather by one of his contemporaries or successors.Despite the uncertainty regarding its true composer, the March in D Major, BWV Anh. 122 is a delightful and spirited composition that exhibits the stylistic characteristics of the Baroque period. Here are some key aspects of the piece:Baroque Style: The piece reflects the Baroque style, known for its emphasis on contrast, movement, and clear, structured forms. The march is typically characterized by a steady, processional rhythm, and BWV Anh. 122 exemplifies this with its clear, marching tempo.D Major Key: Being in D Major, the piece likely has a bright and jubilant character. D Major is often associated with grandeur and triumph, making it a popular choice for celebratory and ceremonial music during the Baroque period.Keyboard Composition: Like many of Bach's (or his contemporaries') compositions, this march is likely composed for the keyboard, which during Bach's time would have included instruments like the harpsichord or the clavichord. It might also be adaptable for performance on the modern piano.Structure and Texture: The piece probably features a contrapuntal texture, a hallmark of Baroque music, where two or more melodic lines are woven together harmoniously. The structure of the march is likely to be straightforward and symmetrical, reflecting the order and balance prized in the Baroque era.Pedagogical Use: Pieces like the March in D Major, BWV Anh. 122 are often used for educational purposes, helping students develop a sense of rhythm, form, and Baroque style. They are suitable for intermediate-level students who are exploring the stylistic features of Baroque keyboard music.

Thus, the two scales that include C go up either a whole step from C (C D Eb F F#…) or a half step (C C# D# E F#…); the third scale excludes C entirely (B C# D E F…). These scales allow for a variety of melodies, which often take on a modal character, and familiar chords, including major, minor, and diminished.Although the scale is simple, the Sonata is not for elementary players. The viola range goes to the C two octaves above middle C and there are occasional double and triple stops and stopped harmonics, and frequent meter changes. Also, the unusual scale does not fit the standard fingering patterns for either instrument. That said, the sonata is intended to be enjoyable for proficient, rather than virtuosic, players. In the introduction to the Sonata-Allegro movement, the viola explores motives and intervals, with subtle embellishment from the piano. These phrases build to a three-octave descending presentation of the simple scale; a trill then leads into the main theme. The piano sets up a jaunty accompaniment pattern, over which the viola plays the theme in measure-long segments. The second theme is a long, legato line in the viola that spans two octaves. The viola then sets up a two-measure ostinato, joined by a lumbering piano bass, before the piano treble floats on top with a melancholy closing theme. The development section plays mostly with the main theme, shifting meters as the two instruments engage in dialog. A bridging trill takes us into the recapitulation, but now the viola plays the jaunty accompaniment pattern, and the piano has the main theme. After the return of the second theme, varied in its accompaniment, the piano presents the ostinato of the closing theme, and the viola takes the melody, leading to a quiet and playful finish. In the second movement (Song), the piano begins a slow, rather dark theme, joined by the viola, and ending in a rising question that leads into the second section. Presented simply by the viola, this lilting 7/8 theme has a folk-song quality. It is repeated and embellished several times before the first theme returns, ending in a loud and angry exclamation. The Scherzo is a 6/8 whirlwind. The viola presents rapid repeated notes punctuated with three rising or falling notes; the piano enters gradually until both are giving a forceful statement. In the middle section, the viola sets up a whirling pattern with a drone, while the piano plays a dark version of the closing theme from the first movement. The first theme returns and the movement gallops to a rapid finish. The Rondo begins with an introduction that explores octaves and trills, leading into the main theme, with slightly dissonant 4/4 viola measures alternating with 7/8 answers in the piano. Bridging measures in 5/8 take us into a relaxed, waltz-like interlude of solo viola. A fast section with a touch of fugato follows, with the main theme presented in diminution by the viola at the end. This leads into a second interlude, this one exploring octaves, trills, and clusters in unmetered fragments that the instrumentalists play at their own tempos. The viola then emerges with a confident new theme, joined after a while by the piano. The main theme then returns in a rollicking 3/4 version that brings the piece to a close.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.790127 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Diamond S Music. Baroque,Concert,Instructional. Score. 3 pages. Diamond S Music #3664609. Published by Diamond S Music (A0.790127). 2-Part Invention No. 3 in D major by J.S. BACH, BWV 774 for Solo Piano. This is the original version of the beloved 15 2-Part Inventions by Johann Sebastian Bach. The Inventions is a collection of short pieces Bach wrote for the musical education of his young pupils. These are among the finest examples of artistic gems ever written for this purpose, and probably because of this, they became very popular among Bach's pupils and others ever since they were written. The work comprises fifteen two-part, each named 'inventio', and fifteen three-part pieces, named 'sinfonia'. These two groups of pieces are arranged in an identical fashion-in ascending order by key-so that there is little doubt that Bach's intention was to bring them together as a single work. This is also confirmed by the way they are carefully written in his autograph fair copy penned in 1723. On every facing page of an open volume each piece demonstrates the contrapuntal technique, while, at the same time, explores a wide range of musical expressions using various styles and developing the motives in a logical fashion. Sing one, two, or all six of these expressive and charming songs for soprano and piano! Most Importantly, Loves (2021) by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP), as a six-song cycle for soprano and pianoText — six letters by Maureen Broy PapovichDuration 25:00Difficulty 4 intermediate/advancedProgram note — Most Importantly, Loves (2021), a song cycle for soprano and piano composed by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP), was commissioned by Maureen Broy Papovich whose six letters furnish the text. She wrote letters to various close family members with tender messages overflowing with admiration, affection, and hope. The songs look at each beloved relative as seen through the prism of the author’s caring eyes and heart. Rooted in moody Dorian mode, the lyrical melodies of R. J. overlay a more brooding, restless piano part. Lucy sports a bit of a jazzy lilt and sassy attitude. The infectious laugh of Camryn and the remarkable resemblance to her late father underpin this quick syncopated C major number. Brendan reflects his exuberant love of life and devastating self-destructive addiction with radical tonality and tempo changes. Mira has an encouraging message for a young person in D mixolydian with soothing piano texture. Jonah’s long lines soar over lush expansive harmonies grounded in B flat major to form a soft fleece blanket of comforting sound and boundless unconditional parental love. — Adrienne InglisThe impetus for the poems that became the song cycle “Most Importantly Loves†started a decade ago. My brother died suddenly in 2011 at the age of 42. He left all of us behind including his daughters, my nieces, when they were ages six years and six months. My father and mother died a short time later, within months of each other in 2013 and 2014. Finally, in 2017 my 27-year-old nephew died of a drug overdose. This intense period of loss brought and continues to bring about many feelings of regret in addition to so much more. When my nephew died, my son Jonah, developed an intense anxiety about losing us, his parents. I felt compelled to express my feelings, the fear of my own mortality, the anxiety of leaving behind loved ones, combined with words said and unsaid to those lost. “Love letters†is my gift to the six young people I care most about. These songs, exquisitely set to music by my friend and composer Adrienne Inglis, express my deep love for each of my loved ones and also, hopefully, provide them with a piece of writing that they can use as a source of strength when life becomes particularly challenging. —  Maureen Broy PapovichPlaylist of Oct. 22, 2022 performance:https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLY9Jh0jT7VQsLBdIik5wJRjE6Qhu_5IZD.

Flute,Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.548688 Composed by Franz Schubert. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Christmas,Easter,Standards. Score and part. 4 pages. Jmsgu3 #3411123. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548688). An Alto Flute Christmas/Easter classic! Duration: 4:55 Score: 3 pg. Alto Flute part: 1 pg. Piano reads from the score. Schubert seems to have composed this piece as a song-setting. This is because he wanted to portray a poignant emotional event from a poem. The poem was Walter Scott's The Lady of the Lake. Consequently, this song became an integral part of Schubert's Song cycle. Therefore the cycle is called: the Lady of the Lake. In the poem, Ellen Douglas is the Lady of the Lake. The lake is probably Loch Katrine in the Scottish Highlands. First of all, Ellen goes with her father to stay in the Goblin's cave. They go because he earlier refused to join in a rebellion against King James. Roderick Dhu, the chief of the rebellious Alpine Clan, marches up the mountain with his army. But before the battle, he, first of all, hears Ellen singing. She is singing a prayer calling for help from the Virgin Mary. Schubert's piece was first performed at the castle of Countess Sophie Weissenwolff in Steyregg, Austria.  Schubert dedicated the arrangement to her, and as a result, she became famous as the lady of the lake. The incipit of Ellen's song is Ave Maria which is Latin for Hail Mary. It seems like this similarity led Schubert to adapt the melody to accommodate the Roman Catholic prayer Ave Maria. Consequently, the Latin version of Ave Maria finally became more famous than the original so that consequently many believe he wrote the Latin version first. Felix Mendelssohn, Robert Schumann, Franz Liszt, Johannes Brahms and other famous composers in due time discovered his compositions. Nowadays, historians rank Schubert expressly among the greatest composers of the era, and his music remains in general very popular.

Piano,Tenor Saxophone - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.548700 Composed by Franz Schubert. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Christmas,Easter,Standards. Score and part. 4 pages. Jmsgu3 #3411149. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548700). A Tenor Sax Christmas/Easter classic! Felix Mendelssohn, Robert Schumann, Franz Liszt, Johannes Brahms and other famous composers in due time discovered his compositions. Nowadays, historians rank Schubert expressly among the greatest composers of the era, and his music remains in general very popular.
