Concertutti is a triple concerto for 3 Bb trumpets (with optional flugelhorn) and concert band. The solo parts are advanced, technical, difficult, and hugely fun to play! The band parts are modest in range and difficulty, designed to be playable by a good high school band. Duration: 8'00.Concertutti is a portmaneau, a made-up word combining concerto (a composition for one or more soloists with a large ensemble) and tutti (everyone). To my knowledge this is the first concerto for three trumpets to have been composed in the past 250 years. (The only other triple concertos in the repertoire are one by J.S. Bach and two by Antonio Vivaldi.) Concertutti was commissioned by The Northwest Passage Trumpet Trio and was premiered by them on May 3, 2019 with the Grove City College Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey Tedford. A revised version was performed by The Northwest Passage Trumpt Trio on June 30, 2019 with the Hollidaysburg Community Band, under the direction of Doug Stephens. The current edition is a second revision, with the chief differences of being over three minutes shorter and sporting a new coda.

This bombastic Concerto by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov was composed in 1877 whilst still a serving naval officer, for fellow marine musician; it was premiered in March 1878 at Kronstadt, with the international premiere not taking place until the summer of 1952 in New York City. The work consists of three short movements, the second and third including cadenza sections for the soloist. The duration of the Concerto stands at around 10 minutes. Although written for the tenor trombone, the Concerto is standard repertoire amongst bass trombonists, as the composer makes few demands on the very high register of the instrument. Indeed, in common with solo trombone works of the period, the Concerto encompasses the full downward range of the instrument, including in the 3rd movement cadenza notes that are so low as to be usually unobtainable (and therefore played up an octave) by latter-day tenor trombonists. This arrangement has been rescored from the condensed piano arrangement for modern day concert band.

Moving to Los Angeles and then settling in New York, he performed professionally sometimes as a singer, sometimes as a pianist, sometimes as choral conductor. He composed incidental music for the stage. In 2002 he founded a composers collective where they showcased their work. He was one of the first composers to participate in the American Music Center's initial on-line library. The New Jersey Concert Opera and the Gay Men's Chorus of New Jersey also featured his comic operas and art songs. From 2005 he moved to Costa Rica where he organized concerts with visiting guest artists to present his chamber music to the public. He’s a largely forgotten figure, but in his day he was Warsaw’s leading opera composer. A single-movement concerto by Weber’s Polish contemporary Karol Kurpiński is skilfully written, with a melancholy slow section whose melody is attractive. Elsewhere, the piece isn’t without its moments of note-spinning and overlong harmonic sequences, but it’s a welcome discovery nevertheless. The premiere of the work took place on the eve of Kurpiński's departure from Paris in 1823. Up to date only the first movement of the Clarinet Concerto, in the sonata allegro form with three themes, has survived. Concerto will be a fine way to demonstrate the clarinetist's potential for brilliant display and heartfelt lyricism.

Gustav Mahler’s “Veni Creator Spiritus†was a new musical setting for the lyrics of a 9th century Latin hymn, originally sung as a Gregorian chant, as an invocation of the Holy Spirit during the celebration of the Christian Feast of Pentecost. This work would comprise the Part I of the symphony with Part II being a setting of the words from the closing scene of “Faust†by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Mahler envisioned the premiere of this new symphony, Number 8, as a massively grand spectacle, with an orchestra not only including strings but a large brass and woodwind section, eight soloists, two full adult choruses, and a children’s choir. The full complement for the premiere was 171 instrumentalists and 858 singers, a total of 1029 musicians, which inspired the promoter to advertise the work as “Symphony of a Thousand.†Part I, “Veni Creator Spiritus,†expresses the whole range of human emotions: grand statements expressing the awe of divine majesty alternate with gentle melodic lines of tender love. It combines moments of awesome dramatic tension with the lightness of a fugue. Robert Anello’s arrangement makes this exceptional music accessible to large concert bands while maintaining the essence and flow of Mahler’s original work.

The sky turns dark as a storm brews; Émilie sees the violent weather as an image of her despair (Air: Vaste empire des mers). A chorus of shipwrecked sailors is heard (Chorus: Ciel! de plus d'une mort). Émilie laments that they too will be taken captive. She recognises one of the sailors as her fiancé Valère. Their joy at their reunion is tempered by sadness at the thought they are both slaves now. Osman enters and is furious to see the couple embracing. However, unexpectedly, he announces he will free them. He too has recognised Valère, who was once his master but magnanimously freed him. Osman loads Valère's surviving ships with gifts and the couple praise his generosity. They call on the winds to blow them back to France (Duet and chorus: Volez, Zéphyrs). The act ends with celebratory dances as Valère and Émilie prepare to set sail.

Inspire Infinite Potential is the first original composition of Stanley P. Hung. It was composed for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Concert Band 70th Anniversary in 2019. MIT Concert Band was founded by students in fall of 1948 and directed for 51 years by conductor John D. Corley. He directed the band from its inception in 1948 until his retirement last spring in 1999. Dr. Thomas E. Reynolds continued the job of music education at MITCB up to now about 20 years. He is the current music director and conducting the band together with co-conductor Collin Myers. (Reference: band.mit.edu) Mr. Hung had participated in a few public performances of MIT Concert Band and played trombone. His footprints not only appeared at MIT in Cambridge, but also in New York (2013), Maine (2014), and Philadelphia (2019) during spring tours. To come up with an idea by our originality then take it into practice was the spirit inspired by such ingenuity group. Therefore, Stanley tried to add this spirit into the music work Inspire Infinite Potential at creation stage. Its U.S. premiere was conducted by Dr. Reynolds and performed by the MIT Concert Band in campus (2019.12.10). The second edition is mostly based on the previous version. Some of notes, chords, articulations, and rhythms have been updated.

Written in the style of nocturne, it is one of the most famous songs in Debussy's work. And also it is often featured as a repertoire among classical pianos as a whole.In this arrangement, while respecting the original song, bold “reharmonization†(change of chord) is applied. And further, an opening section as fade-in effect and an ending section extending the aftertaste time are added. All of them are used for creating new attractive of this song. And, I am also inspired by the title “A sentimental promenade which had been named at the time of publication in 1900-1901. There are many weak sounds throughout this song, but each phrase requires a rich expression centered on romanticism. At the same time, it is also important for the phrase to be passed down smoothly, and especially in the middle part, a flowing propulsion is required. It is a depiction of the Paris Festival (Revolutionary Day) on July 14. Against the background of the first triplet, you can start to see fireworks shining in the distance. After getting closer and closer and launching it bigger, it's dizzying and colorful.It's changing to shine. Fanfare-style motifs that appear on the way are deployed in various ways, and they are magnificently reproduced at the climax at the end.And the French national anthem La Marseès concludes the song with a reverberation in the aftertaste.The whole scale and the tonic sound are skillfully combined, and the original song is very pianistic.I want to switch the tone and tempo firmly for each scene, and try to play crisp and colorful performances.
