2 Pianos,4 Hands,Piano Duet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1263486 Composed by Matthew Nunes. Chamber,Christmas,Classical. Score. 32 pages. Matthew Nunes Music #856450. Published by Matthew Nunes Music (A0.1263486). Listen to this piece hereCommissioned by James EhmerReflections on a Winter’s Morning is a piece especially composed for James Ehmer, a composer, euphonium player, and soon to be medical student, as a personal thank you for his generous donation to my “Get Matt to Maryland†Rally via rally.org. James came to me with two wonderful poems describing idyllic winter scenes and the awe of a morning’s sun. These instantly reminded me of the first mornings I would ever wake to snow fall. The two pianos share multiple roles in recalling these moments: the persistence of an alarm clock in a drowsy morning, the first few fluttering snowflakes, a child teeming with excitement, and finally the grandeur of the sun reigning over the flurry.Orlando, May 2014- Matthew Nunes.

SURRENDER, Between the Octaves, A Piano Duo Suite (Movement 2 of 7)

Instrumental Duet,Keyboard - Digital Download SKU: A0.1497843 Composed by Jenni Roditi. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary. 12 pages. Jenni Roditi #1074255. Published by Jenni Roditi (A0.1497843). Piano Duo - 2 pianos, 4 hands. Surrender, Between the Octaves was the piece that was composed first in the suite. It exposes a simple call to return to the beginning, to return to a pure act of listening. This note..ah, now that note.. oh. This is how the piece was written - one note at a time. Listening from within a space (its original title) of resonance, of edges and meetings, of disappearances and repetitions that reflect on this gentle body of notes. There is a slow hearing that may, or may not create a tone-journey.Names of all the movements in the suite Between the Octaves in the right order are Initiate, Surrender, Thread, Curve, Encircle, Ritualise, Ignite. The whole suite follows a long line from movement 1 to movement 7. However, individual pieces are well suited to be played alone too. Piano Duo is ideally two Steinway grands, otherwise, whatever is available. An enjoyment of the tensions and relationships generated between the two instruments: grand-upright, upright-electronic keyboard is to be explored as a positive. Each piece creates its own world in the suite and can be part of smaller subgroups taken from the suite, in any combination, but the order of the pieces needs to be maintained if more than one is played. Here is a taste of the background to the musical world of this 53 minute compositional suite. During a reflective time I read the following: The whole philosophy of dharma art (Buddhist art) is that you don't try to be artistic, but you just approach objects as they are, and the message comes through automatically. (Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, from 'True Perception The Path of Dharma Art.' Shambhala 2008, p.133.) The 'objects as they are' became the 'octaves as they are'. As the pieces were composed the octaves had a centring and clarifying role that allowed other material to circulate around or play against them. They acted as pivots, repetitions, drones, ostinati, pointillist nodes, pedals, melodic features, struts, harmonic turnpikes, breathing spaces, bass lines: musical imperatives. The octaves called the musical shots most of the time. When the music pulled a semitone up or down and away from the octaves (as it did quite often) it was especially telling in the context of the ringing spaces the octaves were creating. I became interested in the subtle dislocation that two pianos could provide. By dislocation I mean a degree of tension between the natural acoustics of the two instruments in the room and the players idiosyncrasies as musicians. The whole point of this work was to examine the nature of my syntax, grammar, and compositional thinking. The title demanded one thing above all: what notes am I going to use between these octaves?? My choice of notes was derived in most instances from the tempo, pitch, and rhythm of the initial octaves at the beginning of each piece alongside the individual word titles that I set out to explore as musical images. The audio was developed from Sibelius software, via MIDI to Logic samples of a Steinway grand piano.

Instrumental Duet,Keyboard - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1497857 Composed by Jenni Roditi. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary. 19 pages. Jenni Roditi #1074269. Published by Jenni Roditi (A0.1497857). Piano Duo 2 pianos/4 hands. Encircle, Between the Octaves, originally called rotate as its impetus was to generate a steadily rotating music. Encircle was later chosen as a more evocative word. The harmony surprised me as it suggested shifts and colourations that I would not have expected to conjure. Two upper rotating parts with melodic narrative are supported by bass and baritone lower parts. The final section adds a dance-like short form to end what could otherwise have run and run and run. Names of all the movements in the suite Between the Octaves in the right order are Initiate, Surrender, Thread, Curve, Encircle, Ritualise, Ignite. The whole suite follows a long line from movement 1 to movement 7. However, individual pieces are well suited to be played alone too. Instrumental Duet,Keyboard - Digital Download SKU: A0.1497852 Composed by Jenni Roditi. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary. 17 pages. Jenni Roditi #1074264. Published by Jenni Roditi (A0.1497852). Piano Duo 2 pianos/4 hands. Curve, Between the Octaves points to a fugal past, where lines enter and build in stately flow. It invites lines to intermingle, without assuming they will all arrive somewhere, or at the same time. A certain intensity builds, then scales, both up and down, free themselves from the discussion of the interleaving lines. The chromaticism suggests curving between harmonies, and is nearly always ambivalent. An assertive chordal climax intervenes to shake off the tensions, yet this peels away into further curvatures that twist and twirl, until a final resting point agrees to present itself. Names of all the movements in the suite Between the Octaves in the right order are Initiate, Surrender, Thread, Curve, Encircle, Ritualise, Ignite. The whole suite follows a long line from movement 1 to movement 7. However, individual pieces are well suited to be played alone too. Instrumental Duet,Keyboard - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1497861 Composed by Jenni Roditi. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary. 26 pages. Jenni Roditi #1074273. Published by Jenni Roditi (A0.1497861). Piano Duo 2 pianos/4 hands. Ritualise, Between the Octaves finally found its identity with the word ritualise. It began as announce, became pronounce, then declare and went as far a pontificate for a title. At that point I realised I was mocking my own music and needed to take it more seriously. Ritualise brought out a meaning to the music that I hadn’t wanted to admit to. It is quite folk-like, in a primal and entrancing kind of way. I can imagine a communal dance for some ceremonial purpose in this music with both public and private elements.Names of all the movements in the suite Between the Octaves in the right order are Initiate, Surrender, Thread, Curve, Encircle, Ritualise, Ignite. The whole suite follows a long line from movement 1 to movement 7. However, individual pieces are well suited to be played alone too. Piano Duo 2 pianos/4 hands. Thread, Between the Octaves grew out of the call the make a single line weave between the octaves. Line was the original title. Thread, as a word, brings more texture to the title and describes what the line is actually doing, threading around the harmony. A secondary thread is heard after a while, echoing and shading the primary line, with its own treble weave. It was like going back to the beginning of making melody again.Names of all the movements in the suite Between the Octaves in the right order are Initiate, Surrender, Thread, Curve, Encircle, Ritualise, Ignite. Instrumental Duet,Keyboard - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1497866 Composed by Jenni Roditi. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary. 24 pages. Jenni Roditi #1074279. Published by Jenni Roditi (A0.1497866). Piano Duo - 2 pianos/4 hands. Ignite, Between the Octaves began with the impetus of static ‘pulsation’ (its original title) on repeated octaves. The piece is a fizzing dash of nodal vortices, small, then larger, spinning and tumbling and all the way to the finish line. This piece brings the complete suite of 7 pieces to a dynamic close, with a sense of ignition to new beginnings. The music echoes the opening F octaves of Initiate (movement 1). Names of all the movements in the suite Between the Octaves in the right order are Initiate, Surrender, Thread, Curve, Encircle, Ritualise, Ignite. The whole suite follows a long line from movement 1 to movement 7. However, individual pieces are well suited to be played alone too.

Published by Jenni Roditi (A0.1497831). For Piano Duo - 2 pianos/4hands. Initiate, Between the Octaves, the opening piece in the suite, is a sparky, rhythmic and post-modern hoquet, of some wit and almost perpetual bounciness. A ricocheting of quickly contrasting dynamics with occasional switches to distant moments. Three big plunges into legato emotional flow, release the popping bubbles of the fiery staccato material. A short final chorale settles and grounds the quick cuts, swoops and build ups that have propelled the whole piece. Names of all the movements in the suite Between the Octaves in the right order are Initiate, Surrender, Thread, Curve, Encircle, Ritualise, Ignite. The whole suite follows a long line from movement 1 to movement 7. However, individual pieces are well suited to be played alone too. Like a waltz from yesteryear, this piece is a dream-like dance for Clarinet in A or B flat (both parts are included). The piano and clarinet are like a couple in love, wandering through life hand in hand. The clarinet's broad melodic lines embrace the piano's lush harmonies; together on a journey through whatever twists and turns life may bring. Piano Solo - Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Rainer Fabich. 21st Century, Romantic Period, Contemporary Classical, Impressionistic, Post-Romantic. Individual Part, Score. 80 pages. Published by Fajora Music
Orginal scores from the Rainer Fabich`s CD PIANO PUR played by Michaela Puehn.
Piano solo, 80 pages.

About the music:
In Piano Scenes musical associations are reflected, strung together in a loose sequence of imaginary pictures, such as Water Visions, Waves, Fallen Angel. Images of abstract, musical style (Gradus Ad Parnassum and Homage To Satie) refer in an idealistic way to musical precursors of piano literature.
In the very emotional Four Nocturnes there are both exuberant and flirtatious moments, such as the night walk of a lady (Promenade D `une Dame) and Valse Pour ... Thoughtful and sometimes brooding moods sound in Songes De La Nuit (Night Thoughts ) and Une Illusion.
The sonic world of Latin America appears in the Imprésiones Latinas. Short snapshots characterize the typical, playful pride and charm of female sex in Cuba (Habañera) or they evoke the untamed vitality of Brazil (Impresión Brasiliana).
In addition to the new compositions for piano, the music edition also includes a commissioned composition for Bavarian Television, Piano Reflections and excerpts from a film score for the short film Queen of the Night (directed by Hans Lang, HFF 1996, actors and others by Juliane Köhler). In the dance of puppets, Mozart's famous aria sounds like something from the distant world, slightly alienated.
All pieces of the CD Rainer Fabich - Piano Pur, were recorded on a Steinway grand piano (D) in 2005 by the Munich concert pianist Prof. Michaela Puehn in the Great Concert Hall of the Academy of Music and Theater, Munich. Marcos Fernandez-Barrero #1048301. Published by Marcos Fernandez-Barrero (A0.1470648). Work commissioned for mezzo-soprano Sandra Ferrández and pianist Irene Alfageme to be premiered at the Teatro de la Zarzuela (Madrid) on 1st April 2024.The piece takes inspiration from the the XV Century Spanish poem by anonymous author 'Van Y Vienen', which gave the lyrics of the work. Although the poem was written in the Middle Ages, it resonates with a timeless universality, allowing for a deep connection with the contemporary audience. Its metaphor of the sea as a reflection of human emotions – that come and go like the waves of the sea – transcends eras, resonating with the instability and hope that characterize the human experience.By using it as lyrics for a sort of contemporary habanera, I saw the possibility of merging the nostalgia of the past with the artistic expression of the present, creating a bridge between different historical moments through music and poetry.

2 Pianos,4 Hands,Piano Duet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1440150 Composed by Florence B. Price (1887-1953). Arranged by Mena Williams (b. 2002). 20th Century,Classical. Score. 90 pages. Mena C. Williams | The Unfinished Symphony #1020099. Published by Mena C. Williams | The Unfinished Symphony (A0.1440150). In 1903, Florence B. Price (1887-1953) attended the New England Conservatory for piano, organ, and composition. When Price graduated from NEC in 1910, she returned to Arkansas, bringing music education to her hometown. Unfortunately, due to increased racially charged hostility within Little Rock, Arkansas, Florence Price and many other families who participated in the Great Migration moved to Chicago in 1927, where she found new musical studies and performance opportunities. The opportunity that launched Price’s musical career as a composer was when she won the Wanamaker Prize in 1932 for her Symphony in e minor and became the first Black woman composer to have a major orchestral work performed by an American orchestra. Four years later, Price composed Quintet in a minor for Piano and Strings. Within the Quintet, there are four movements, the “Allegro non troppo”, the “Andante con moto”, the “Juba”, and the “Scherzo”. Quintet in A Minor for Piano and Strings utilizes many of Florence Price’s trademark stylistic ideas, imbuing her music with harmonic freshness and a creative and organic structural approach as well as melodies that reflect her spiritual and cultural heritage, all stemming from how Price’s music brings together the European-classical tradition and African American spirituals and folk tunes. Florence Price was a deeply religious person who brought the music of the African American church and the influences of Romantic composers such as Dvořák and Tchaikovsky. Thus further resulting in the overall appeal of Price’s music. The captivating lyricism and juba (a dance that originated from plantation enslaved people in the Southern US) rhythmic devices.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.928443 Composed by Janette Mason, James Thompson. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary,Praise & Worship,Standards. Score. 5 pages. Janette Mason #6327385. Published by Janette Mason (A0.928443). Contemporary Classic solo piano piece for Grade 3-4 intermediate players. ‘Reflections’, is a gently evolving ambient piece in the key of G major. It uses a repetitive eight note broken chord pattern, spread between the hands, based on the primary chord of the key. This develops into arpeggios in the left hand as the right plays the melody in two part harmony. Sonically rich four note chord voicings are utilised to introduce a contrasting theme in the relative minor. Key Techniques: • Broken chords patterns • Four note chord voicings • Left hand intervallic stretches of an octave plus. Composer Tips: • Play with a gentle touch throughout. • Be sure to count the beats in the bars with the held semibreves. • Keep the left arm light and loose when negotiating the octave plus intervals on page 4. Reflections is suitable for home performance, practice pieces, ABRSM, RSL,TRINITY grade support pieces, professional performance, school and student learning. Influenced by the current top pianists in this field such as Ludovico Einaudi, Alexis Ffrench, Olafur Arnalds, Luke Howard etc. Piano Hive always aim to write and produce music that is clearly laid out, very readable and will help improve several aspects of your playing whilst sounding great at the same time. Music and song composed by me about Borderline♫ * ´¨` * • .¸¸. ♫ Cassandra's vision ♫ * ´¨` * • .¸¸. ♫ I don't want to open that door, I shouldn't ... but it's the wind that brings me ... And I sing in a low voice, Until the pain passes and turn, turn-round, how bad the world is Between thoughts and tears, words and music There is Cassandra's vision And I don't know if he can do it, to write about you, you left quickly, And you're perfect in my mind Cassandra is locked up in that room, He hugs himself, tells an existence: Look there, my father and his glass, look at me, the victim of drinking purple bruises, always alone at school, violence continues in indifference, my mother knew but hid everything, the mind that does not hold, and the borderline destroys the spark that was in me, all those dreams of mine and that love that I will never have, I would like to run away but I am chained here, uncontrolled rituals, repeated gestures and a monster closed inside me In Cassandra's vision, she no longer has bars in this room no longer has a body, sex, it is ageless It's a vision but she doesn't know it In harmony with creation, forget the present and the past And the pain comes up and will disappear, It's a vision but she doesn't know it Cassandra does not know, who is about to lose our reality Worn threads Of a fragile puppet He hangs in the balance, embraces a nightmare In his labyrinths, he never finds a way out And pass the margin, cross that limit You feel a flower that Needs no longer has And the wind will follow In front of the mirror, The long hair, Reflect flashes of a thousand crystals You comb them slowly ,, With infinite care, You have been waiting for your love for a lifetime And a carillon that resounds far away, The brush suddenly falls from your hand Because the black man is here, he is already back, He breaks your dream, the charm is broken Cassandra runs among the stars and tattooes them on her skin Bruises and scars no longer has, It's a vision but she doesn't know it In dimensions to explore, How birds can fly Breathe sun, love and freedom And no one will harm you here ... Cassandra stop, Cassandra help me not to regret you Now you can't chain me to you, to your memory that will burn forever Cassandra doesn't know that wings don't, she doesn't Tragic angel who takes flight and then A puppet with broken threads now And time stands still here, like your beat But the vision is mine or Cassandra's, I don't remember anymore, This time changes my perception of the past Faces and names that Time has faded by now And I dance to the ticking of what has been lost souls who are left behind always inside me with their story an eternal tattoo in my memory I shouldn't open that door, I don't want to, but it's the wind that brings me…. and I sing in a low voice until the pain passes and round, round-round how bad the world is ... .. 2 Pianos,4 Hands,Piano Duet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1458066 By Sharon Wilson. By Frances R. Havergal, Henri A. C. Malan, and Lowell Mason. Arranged by Sharon Wilson. 19th Century,Christian,Lent,Romantic Period,Sacred. Score. 13 pages. Sharon Wilson #1037036. Published by Sharon Wilson (A0.1458066). The classic hymn tune HENDON by Henri A. Malan has been arranged as a dual piano duet (for 2 pianos, 4 hands). Both parts carry the melody at times making it fun and equally challenging for both players while adding variety for the listeners. The song begins in the key of G major and then transitions to the key of C major for the second verse. This slightly rhythmic, yet flowing arrangement will encourage reflection as the listeners are reminded of the lyrics penned by Frances R. Havergal: Take my life, and let it be Consecrated, Lord, to Thee; Take my moments and my days, Let them flow in ceaseless praise. The purchase price includes a 7-page score with combined PIANO 1 and PIANO 2 parts on each page (Grand Staff) plus an alternate format with the PIANO 1 and PIANO 2 parts on separate pages (2 pages each). This arrangement is one of the 5 hymns in the collection Hymns of Reflection for Two Pianos.Visit Sharon Wilson's website: https://www.SharonWilsonMusic.com/Subscribe to her YouTube Channel: https://youtube.com/@SharonWilsonMusic
