Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #3880257. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522220). Arranged for strings, keyboard, any C-pitched instruments, simple percussion and other instruments by Colin KirkpatrickIn this series, Renaissance Hits for Strings, some of the most well-known dances from Terpsichore are included. They are all attractive pieces and are sure to be popular at any concerts or end-of-semester events. They are fairly easy to play too and the flexible instrumentation allows any players to take a solo with the melody part. They can be played by string quartet, string orchestra or ideally string ensemble plus any other C-pitch instruments that happen to be available. This publication consists of a score showing the four-part ensemble, keyboard and percussion parts. There are separate parts for violin 1, violin 2, viola (violin 3), cello/bass, percussion and keyboard. Additional instruments are not essential but they add contrasting tone colour. Small Ensemble - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522186 Composed by Unknown. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Christmas,Holiday,Renaissance. Score and parts. 27 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #6363609. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522186). These are two charming dances taken from a collection entitled Recueil de danseries, contenant presque toutes sortes de danses (âCollection of dances, containing almost all kinds of dancesâ) published in Antwerp in 1583 by Pierre Phalèse Jnr (c.1545-1629). He was continuing the work of his father Pierre Phalèse the Elder (1510-1575) the most important publisher in the Low Countries during the 16th century and who published his First Book of Dances in Leuven in 1571. The Antwerp publication of 1583 contains about half the dances from the original 1571 edition, together with some new titles, making a total of about seventy numbers. The 1583 collection contains a large selection of gaillardes, almandes and bransles which were all popular courtly dances of the time. The lively and well-known piece entitled Ungaresca appears on page 24 of the original publication. The drone accompaniment that Phalèse provides suggests the sound of the peasant bagpipes. The name Ungaresca is a term used outside Hungary to denote a dance in the Hungarian style and this particular one probably first appeared in a 1578 dance collection for viol consort - Mainerio's Primo libro de balli. As a result, the music is sometimes attributed to Mainerio. In this arrangement, Ungaresca is paired with the delightful Almande Poussinghe which appears on page 16 of the original. This wonderful music of the 16th century still speaks to us today and this arrangement would be an ideal concert item, playable by virtually any combination of conventional wind instruments with optional percussion and keyboard parts. The optional keyboard part enables you to use the piece as a solo or duet and trio for mixed instruments. Some minor changes have been made to the inner parts to facilitate performance. This 4-part arrangement is presented in a single PDF file which includes the Full Score; Part 1 (C, B flat, E flat); Part 2 (C, B flat, E flat); Part 3 (C, F, B flat, E flat), Part 4 (C, B flat, E flat); Keyboard and Percussion. Most electronic keyboards have a harpsichord option. The score and set of parts come in a single PDF file.

String Orchestra - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522223 Composed by Anonymous. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Instructional,Renaissance. Score and parts. 20 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #3915085. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522223). Les Courantes are two well-known dances from Terpsichore by Michael Praetorius. They have been arranged for strings, keyboard, optional guitar, recorder or any C-pitched instruments and simple percussion. In this series, Renaissance Hits for Strings, some of the most well-known dances from Terpsichore are included. The keyboard part is intended as a guide and when possible the keyboard player should improvise around the part and chords shown. A piano sounds distinctly out of place in this music and a digital or acoustic harpsichord sounds more authentic. Most electronic keyboards have a harpsichord option.Every instrumental part (except percussion) also shows the melody line. This allows anyone to take a solo and play the melody, while the other players remain tacet. Solos can be decided in advance and the parts marked accordingly. Just cross out what you donât need! The percussion instruments used are similar to those found in elementary school music rooms and usually include a tambour or hand-held drum, clave or small headless tambourine. Two players are usually required and the parts can be interpreted quite freely. Dance music is intended to be fun, and we hope that this arrangement brings you just that. Â

Woodwind Ensemble Double Reed Quartet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1411059 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Lydia Consilvio. Baroque,Classical,Contemporary. 89 pages. Songburd Music #993405. Published by Songburd Music (A0.1411059). Dr. Lydia Consilvioâs arrangement of Johann Sebastian Bachâs keyboard Partita No. 4 in D Major (BWV 828) presents a fresh expression of Bachâs keyboard suite, giving listeners a new way to hear and appreciate this delightful work. Drawing upon the Bach-Gesellschaft edition, Consilvioâs reimagination for two oboes, English horn, and bassoon stays true to the original keyboard score and thoughtfully contributes to the double reed repertoire. This adaptation for small wind ensemble naturally creates complementary and flexible dynamics that allow sonorities to emerge in a manner not possible on the harpsichord or pianoâenhancing the phrasing and coloristic possibilities inherent in the music. Consilvioâs distribution of melodic material clearly highlights Bachâs use of voices (usually two or three within a single line) through a conversational woodwind dialogue.Notably, Bachâs keyboard Partita No. 4 is comprised of movements based on Renaissance dance formsâallemande, courante, sarabande, menuet and gigueâeach influenced by the step-pattern of that specific dance. These Renaissance dances were typically accompanied by families of like instruments in small ensembles called âconsorts;â fittingly, the instrumentation of this arrangement captures both the original medium for the dance sets, and the Baroque taste and style of Johann Sebastian Bach.
