Small Ensemble Bassoon,English Horn,Oboe d'Amore - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.799554 Composed by Anonymous. Arranged by Kathleen Arends & Drake Mabry. Classical,Folk,Renaissance,World. Score and parts. 15 pages. Drake Mabry #3860129. Published by Drake Mabry (A0.799554). This is the double reed ensemble version of J'ai Vu Le Loup (I saw the Wolf). J'ai Vu Le Loup is an old French song in which the Gregorian chant tune of Dies Irae becomes a lively dance. The lyrics describe seeing the wolf, the fox, and the hare (possibly the King, the Church, and the Landlord) eating, drinking, and dancing. Variations of this song seem to exist from as early as the 13th century and can be found in several European countries as well as in modern Cajun and Quebec French versions. Even modern pop and rap performers have made use of it. This double reed ensemble arrangement begins simply, then builds throughout to a frenzied, syncopated finale. Each part has its own interest. An alternate english horn version of the oboe d'amore part is included.

Harp - Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Tracie Lin. Celtic. Individual Part, Sheet Music Single, Solo Part. 2 pages. Published by Tracie Lin
This is an original composition for the double strung harp. The imaginary is that of a mother saying goodbye to her son by the river. The story takes place in the ancient days when people travel by boats to faraway lands and it would probably be years before seeing loved ones again. The mother silently watches the flowing river take away her son until he is no longer in sight . . . <br> <br> The song is in aeolian mode in the key of G. The range is low A (1.5 octave below middle C) to E (2 octaves above middle C). It requires one mid song D# lever change on the right. This is an original composition for the double strung harp. This melody attempts to capture the emotions of our journey home, whether physically or spiritually. The first section is the feeling of longing and yearning. The second part is the excitement of being on the road and the anticipation of seeing our family, and ending with the sweetness and relieve at finally being back where we feel familiar, secure and loved. The song is composed in key of F and both single-strung and double-strung versions are included. No lever/pedal changes required. Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1225431 Composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Arranged by Paul Taylor. 19th Century,Film/TV,Romantic Period. Score. 4 pages. Paul Taylor #821497. Published by Paul Taylor (A0.1225431). This is perhaps the most illustrious melody from the Tschaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet suite arranged for piano solo. This melody was featured prominently in the movie Moonraker , Columbo, The Jazz Singer (1927), Wayne's World, Animaniacs, Taz-Mania, Tiny Toon Adventures, Scrubs, Seeing Double, The Simpsons, South Park, Clueless, A Christmas Story, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, etc. The harmony has traditionally been an issue facing arrangers of this work. The spacing of the chords in the orchestral format were too wide to effectively render the work pianistically. However, this arranger seems to have solved the problem with some octave transposition and novel treatment of the inner voices.

6 double basses - difficult - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q11701 Composed by Joerg Widmann. This edition: score and parts. Double-Bass Library. Downloadable, score and parts. Duration 14 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q11701. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q11701). 'Ein Orakelspruch für sechs Kontrabässe' (An oracle for six double-basses) – this is how Widmann calls his composition which he wrote upon commission of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra on the occasion of the 75th birthday of the conductor Claudio Abbado. The subtle theme seems to be the saga of Teiresias, the blind prophet, from Greek mythology. According to Widmann himself, he imagined a sound for the unusual instrumentation of six double-basses that 'is both blind and seeing' in its enigmatic whispering.

String Orchestra - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522247 Composed by Colin Kirkpatrick. Contemporary. Score and parts. 21 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #4994009. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522247). Shetland Sunrise is a movement from Colin Kirkpatrick's suite for elementary string orchestra entitled “Atlantic Highwayâ€. Ideal for end-of-semester concerts or any other school or college concert occasion, these tuneful and attractive pieces are bound to please audience and instrumentalists alike. The work is scored for violins 1 and 2, viola (with an identical but optional part for violin 3 in treble clef), cello, double bass and piano (or digital keyboard). The piano part is an integral part of music and therefore essential. However, it’s not especially difficult and perfectly manageable by the intermediate pianist. All the string parts can be played in first position. Pizzicato is used extensively in the double bass part and in some of the passages for the upper strings. Shetland Sunrise is in G major throughout and the time signature begins in 5/8. This might look a bit daunting to elementary places not used to seeing it but the music is a good deal easier than it appears. Because every 5/8 measure (bar) naturally falls into groups of 3 and 2 beats, the players should be told to count 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, rather than one to five. They will soon pick up the irregular lilting rhythm. There are also a couple of measures of 7/8 in this piece, which should be counted as 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2. The string parts have been produced in fairly large type making them ideal for elementary players. Cues have been added where necessary.

Mixed Percussion Bassoon,Clarinet,Double Bass,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1126887 Composed by G Rossini / O Respighi. Arranged by Philip Le Bas. 19th Century,Chamber,Classical. 173 pages. Philip Le Bas #727527. Published by Philip Le Bas (A0.1126887). A wind decet (plus double bass) arrangement by Philip Le Bas of La Boutique Fantasque (The Fantastic Toyshop) by G. Rossini and orchestrated by O. Respighi. Actually, fantasque in French means fanciful, whimsical or even magical, and the original score is a wonderful set of pieces forming a ballet concerning a toyshop owner who creates cleverly moving puppets. In this arrangement five sections are chosen to make a chamber suite: 1) Overture 2) Mazurka 3) Tarentella 4) Pastorale 5) Can-Can The ballet is full of fun, ending with the puppets seeing off customers who want to separate two of the Can-Can dancers who are in love with each other. Think toyshop and you will understand the marching toy soldiers of the Overture, the dancing dolls of the Mazurka, the hide-and-seek chases of the Tarentella (originally a dance to ward off the tarantula), the cuddly warmth of the Pastorale, and the craziness of the Can-Can! Optional percussion (triangle, plus anything that can be bashed) has here been scored in the final movement to add to the general riotousness...

Carillon,Instrumental Solo - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1495274 Composed by Adam Lenhart. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Instructional. Individual part. 5 pages. Adam Lenhart #1071793. Published by Adam Lenhart (A0.1495274). From the Composer “I was listening to a small music box one night–quite old–which spun the same 8 bars of music again and again. I listened for several minutes and amazingly never grew tired of the old tune. Between the percussive nature of the instrument and the unique intervals the out-of-tune comb robotically produced, I could not help but imagine what the tune would sound like when played by the large, rotating drum found on so many carillons. I remember visiting Belgium and seeing these extremely large automatic-playing drums. They resembled so much, on a larger scale, the music boxes I had been so intrigued by since I was a child. The human desire for and fascination in automatic music has long been a part of our musical tradition. While this dream has long since been achieved, these short etudes celebrate the bond between two past efforts to make this fascination a reality: the music box and the carillon.”Adam Lenhart, 2024Performance Notes These short etudes are written to be practiced and performed on any octave of your instrument. You may find certain etudes are even more effective when displaced, depending on the timbre of the carillon in question. Repeats may be executed indefinitely; upon repeating, you may choose to transpose to one octave higher/lower if desired. Let these short pieces provide a foundation to improvise upon, or as an exercise in ornamentation. After a final repeat or variation, some etudes provide a final bar or chord. Titles that do not should treat the repeat as a double bar line.

Arranged by Alastair Lodge. Classical,Early Music,Historic,Medieval,Renaissance. 43 pages. Wold Meridian #840108. Published by Wold Meridian (A0.1245199). This is a companion to my earlier volume Chording to Consort which presented 35 Renaissance Dance band tunes and Chansons and arranged them as a single melody line with chords derived from the original harmony lines. In this volume I have reunited the remaining 17 of the pieces with the lower parts in the score, so that with more collaborators, the fullness of the original arrangement can be heard. The chords are still present, so if the ensemble is short handed, and lines are missing, the arrangements will still work. What is more, by contrasting the melody and chords with the full scoring, it should be possible to work some light and shade into performances. Â You can hear all the pieces and their chords on YouTube together with contemporary art and historical background material:https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYRWH2nycMkPO9vTOgEoG_kRJlJ5nUHnxComposers and printers of this time would often use note values that are double the length of those we would be used to seeing today, and so to make this version more readable, breves have become semibreves or whole notes, semibreves have become minims or half notes and so on.Working with this publicationFor those just starting out in Early Music, the volume is an ideal introduction, since the ensemble can build from a soloist with accompaniment with the chords alone, and parts can be added in as additional musicians become available. Instrumentation for these pieces was not specified in the original prints. The range of each part is quite limited, and though the harmonies may seem strange at times, key signatures are kind to the less experienced musician. If enthusiasm takes hold, then reproductions of early music instruments are sold by some very talented makers, as well as coming up on auction sites. Otherwise, it is possible to put together a fairly convincing ensemble with recorders, violins, a cello and mandolins, bouzoukis, flutes or guitars and gradually introduce the authentic instruments as they become available.

Small Ensemble Bass Guitar,Flute,Handbell,Piano,Violin,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.719627 Composed by Curtis Hanson. Christian,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score and parts. 72 pages. Curtis Hanson #37551. Published by Curtis Hanson (A0.719627). I Will Give Thanks to the Lord was composed in 1998 and is intended as a more contemporary option to the sung liturgy associated with the mainstream Christian church, while still maintaining the integrity of traditional liturgical elements. This setting is scored for handbells, two C instruments which double the voices, piano (or electronic keyboard), and bass guitar. The music may be performed with one or more instruments missing as frequently happens for church services. The file contains full score, instrumental parts, and a vocal only which may duplicated for congregational use. The complete setting is also available in a simplified version for piano only. Much of the liturgy is in the form of Call and Response, that is, a music leader sings a phrase and the congregation responds, often repeating the initial phrase exactly. There are two versions for the Nunc Dimittis, the congregational response following Holy Communion. The first is a paraphrase of Simeon’s exclamation at seeing the child Jesus. The second is the traditional text as found in Luke 2 with accompaniment on organ only.

Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1133711 By Various. By Anonymous, Giorgio Mainerio, Michael Praetorius, Pierre Attaignant, Pierre Certon, Pierre Phalese, and Tielman Susato. Arranged by Alastair Lodge. Early Music,Folk,Historic,Medieval,Renaissance. 50 pages. Wold Meridian #733808. Published by Wold Meridian (A0.1133711). This is a companion to my earlier volume Chording to the Dance Masters which presented 44 of my favourite Renaissance Dance band tunes and arranged them as a single melody line with chords derived from the original harmony lines. In this volume I have reunited 22 of the pieces with the lower parts in the score, so that with more collaborators, the fullness of the original arrangement can be heard. The chords are still present, so if the ensemble is short handed, and lines are missing, the arrangements will still work. What is more, by contrasting the melody and chords with the full scoring, it should be possible to work some light and shade into performances. You can hear all the pieces and their chords on YouTube together with contemporary art and historical background material:https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYRWH2nycMkMoIoEYEMVPa_EXY6NVDpNSAs a help to those less confident in playing harmony lines, I have provided links to playlists of videos online for each part of each piece. You will hear the selected line on its own with chords and percussion, with the melody line added on repeats. The final repeat includes the other harmony lines, but the featured line is slightly louder in the mix. The performance starts with a percussion beat introduction to set the tempo.Who were the Publishers and the Dance Masters? What did they do? Sometime around the 1500s, the popularity of dance music exploded in Europe. Dance Masters were collecting chansons and dance tunes from courts and rural parts and were teaching these to new audiences, spreading their arrangements and reflecting the performance styles of the areas from which they had collected the tunes. Publishers were able to take these tunes that were becoming known across the regions and nations and spread them even more widely, thanks to technological innovations in music printing which made it quicker and therefore cheaper to produce collections of these dances in four or more parts. These publishers were often highly accomplished composers in their own right, who were both able to provide distinctive harmony lines and compose new tunes in the style of their sources, feeding the courts with enduring tunes. Composers and printers of this time would often use note values that are double the length of those we would be used to seeing today, and so to make this version more readable, breves have become semibreves or whole notes, semibreves have become minims or half notes and so on. Working with this publication For those just starting out in Early Music, the volume is an ideal introduction, since the ensemble can build from a soloist with accompaniment with the chords alone, and parts can be added in as additional musicians become available. Instrumentation for these pieces was not specified in the original prints. The range of each part is quite limited, and though the harmonies may seem strange at times, key signatures are kind to the less experienced musician. Arranged by Alastair Lodge. Early Music,Folk,Historic,Medieval,Renaissance. 50 pages. Wold Meridian #733832. Published by Wold Meridian (A0.1133721).

Percussion Ensemble Hand Drum,Marimba,Shaker - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1262203 Composed by Traditional Zimbabwe. Arranged by Adam Miller. Folk,Multicultural,Traditional,World. 7 pages. Adam Miller #855243. Published by Adam Miller (A0.1262203). A number of years ago, I had the opportunity to join a team that traveled to Uganda, Africa as part of a mission group.  While there, we had the pleasure of seeing a traditional marimba and percussion ensemble perform.  A longtime marimbist and avid percussionist, I spent some time following the concert visiting with some of the performers.  Although their music is passed down through visual and audial instruction (rather than traditional western notation) the group’s leader was kind enough to teach me one of their traditional songs.  Years later, I came across my (copious) notes from that trip and decided at last to write down what I had learned. What makes Chamtengure such a delight to perform – aside from its energy and joy – is its versatility.  Although notated for two 5-octave marimbas, larger ensembles have the option to double parts in various registers for a fuller sound.  Combined with the encouragement to include shaker and hand drums ad lib throughout the piece (except where noted otherwise) this has the ability to fit nearly any ensemble size.  Fast-paced, repetitive two-measure patterns that build and play off each other makes Chamtengure a guaranteed success with ensembles and audiences alike!

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.767578 Composed by Mike Lyons. Contemporary. Score and parts. 81 pages. Lyons Music Services #6422239. Published by Lyons Music Services (A0.767578). These three pieces form a small suite, linked by the idea of ‘pastoral’ or rustic situations and places. The first piece to be written now forms the middle movement, though at first it was the starting point. This is not easy music. It travels through several keys with large numbers of sharps and flats and in places the time signature shifts constantly. The first movement is modal, being based on the mixolydian and dorian modes. I took for this movement the idea of ancient Celts celebrating a victory and dancing and getting drunk around a smoky fire. Their chieftain strikes up a song, accompanied by a double drone. This melody is initially stated on the horn, with just two other instruments providing the accompaniment. At 4 before B, the remaining instruments join in, providing a rhythmic pulse and the melody moves to the Euphonium/Baritone/Trombone. Subtle variations shape the melody anew, leading to letter C. Here the complex overlapping rhythms provide a more dance-like feel to the music. Also, countermelodies start to appear which build the excitement. At letter E, the music becomes louder and the rhythmic pulse more insistent (perhaps they are dancing on the tables?) The mode changes to the more major sounding mixolydian. But from here on in, the revellers are starting to wend their way home, still singing and dancing and they gradually fade into the distance. At letter G, we’re back to three players, but with the trumpet 1 playing a rhythmic melody over the top of the original tune. The second movement is called The Aesthetes. The aesthetic movement was formed in the 19th century, but had been around before that in less formal garb. Their ideal was to emulate the Ancient Greeks and Romans – or at least their perception of what the ancients were like as found in statues, paintings and friezes. They adopted studied poses and were very effete in their mannerisms. Gilbert and Sullivan parodied the aesthetic movement in their operettas – particularly Princess Ida (but also in the Mikado and various others). So, here is a movement with classical lines in the style of a minuet, but in 6/8 rather than ¾ so that it can be more languid. All the melodies are ‘studied’ and ‘formal’ with long, languid notes and rhythms which don’t quite fit to the beat as the aesthetes pose and ponder and languidly look, studied and pale and wan. Because of the long notes in the melody, there’s an almost dream-like quality to the music as if they are seeing through a haze of Wormwood or Absinthe (a favourite drink of the aesthetes when they weren’t high on themselves or opiates). The third and final movement is called The Bohemians. This was also a movement at the end of the 19th Century. Where the aesthetes were ruled by rules, the Bohemians lived by none. They were considered wild and unconventional to say the least. The Bohemians movement owed much to the supposed free life and style of the gypsies and wanderers of Europe. Our piece starts with a gypsy violin style opening, including a cadenza, and then moves into the rapidly time shifting and gyrating gypsy dance. This section is in alternating bars of 5/8 and 6/8 with occasional 11/8 thrown in to keep you off balance. The frantic and frenetic movement continues up to letter F where things calm down a little – but not for long as the intensity increases again from Letter H to the quite sudden ending. This is tuneful yet challenging music which will take a lot of effort, but which will give a lot back in return.

My Mother had some sad news to give me. Dad was very ill. My whole life flashed before me. My parents were always 200% supportive of all my artistic endeavors. None of my success would have been possible but for my Dad and Mom. My memories of my Dad and my Mom flooded my mind like a deluge. When I heard the news about how gravely ill he was I thought to myself that so often we give thanks, honor, or show our love when it is too late. Who wants to be that person? I was finally in the unique position to show my gratitude and love to my parents in the most special way that I could - through music from my heart and soul. I got the courage to look deeply within and then I began to write what was to become the first and second songs, respectively Tears from My Eyes: Remember Your Feelings and Tears from My Eyes: Reflection and Contemplation on my Tears from My Eyes: Songs from my Soul album. You will now be able to do just the same for your loved ones with this new music. Your intermediate level to advanced students and even professional musicians should find this to be a welcomed piece to learn and master. It looks deceptively simple but the learning and challenge comes from two smaller sub-ensembles playing together in their own collective units legato con moto while playing together as a whole music ensemble Everyone will enjoy and bathe in the beautiful harmonies that will resonate when the entire music ensemble begins to listen to each while playing together as a group. Your musicians will hone their skills in playing together with just the right balance that this song requires. Your musicians will also hone their skills for subdividing and maintaining an inner beat that is in sync with your conducting because there is no percussion and the notes are freely flowing on and off the down beat yet not sounding heavily syncopated when performed. When will you know when you have achieved the right balance and flow of the music? You will know when, because you will hear it and feel it when it comes into place. But I can help you with all of this with what I have to offer you today. I share with you now the final and 5th movement to Tears from my Eyes - Onward and Upward (for String Orchestra). This particular was created and produced after the Songs from My Soul album was sent for distribution. So, this song has yet to be officially released. All five movements will be released as an album Mourning in the Rain. This 5th movement Onward and Upward has a decisive emotional resolution and conviction in its pathos. The dynamics reflect accordingly ranging from mf to fff indicative of overcoming adversity and grief. Imagine overcoming despair, rising out of grief and depression and finally seeing the light of day - to join the ranks of the living and re-embracing life once again.Contact info: Tito AbeledaVisionary Quest Recordshttps://www.visionaryquestrecordsEmail: tito@visionaryquestrecords.comFollow Tito on Social Media:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/titoabeledaTwitter: https://twitter.com/titoabeledaInsta.

Program note: My love affair with the city of Rome dates back to the year 1986-87 when I spent just under eleven months at the American Academy in Rome on a Rome Prize Fellowship. During that Fellowship year I was very much inspired by the beauty and culture of the Eternal City, which resulted in a number of works that continue to resonate with me: Twenty-nine Fireflies Book II for solo piano; Concertino for trumpet, timpani and strings; Apples … six dreams by Richard Kenney; String Quartet No 5 … Four Birthdays; and Chôrinhos … opus 38. Since 1997 my wife, Kristin Beckwith, and I have returned to the American Academy in Rome almost every year. I would compose in the morning and then my wife and I would go to our usual haunt at Bar G. for cappuccini and cornetti. And then we’d go to the local bakery and street markets and buy stuff for lunch. In the afternoon we would wander into the city to go shopping and sight-seeing. In the evenings we would dine at one of our favorite local trattorias. Life could not be better in Rome. Musically speaking, several important works in my portfolio had their beginnings during these sojourns at the Academy , among them Yo Picasso, Flauta Carioca, Mass for the Holy Year 2000, Symphony No. 5 … Utopia Parkway, Twenty-nine Fireflies Books IV & V, and Piano Concerto … Mozartiana. Just before the 2008 recession, clarinetist extraordinaire Jonathan Cohler asked me to write a symphony for the inaugural concert of a new orchestra he was planning to create. I came up with Symphony No. 7 … Roman Holidays, my give back to the city of Rome – a compendium of favorite places that continue to live in my thoughts and musings. Although the work is heard in four movements, it is actually divided into seven sections, as in the seven hills of Rome. 1. Prelude: Fontana Paola and the panoramic view of the city of Rome from that vantage point. 2. First interlude: La Befana festivities at Piazza Navona. The Protestant Cemetery in Testaccio at night under a full moon. 3. Second interlude: Fontana delle Tartughe in the Jewish Ghetto. Bernini’s Apollo and Daphne at the Galleria Borghese. 4. Third interlude: Bernini’s Beata Ludovica Albertoni in Trastevere. The Spanish Steps and the view of Rome from the French Academy at Villa Medici. NB: Unfortunately, thanks to the recession, Roman Holidays never saw the light of day. This year (2013) I decided to revisit the work, which lay dormant for 5 five years, and saw that it could use a little tweaking. The new version is essentially the same, musically speaking. I reduced the orchestration a bit (two horns instead of four, and two trumpets instead of three) and added more heft to the lower brass. I completely rewrote the tune for the floating foreign ghosts at the Protestant Cemetery. I also shortened the work by about three minutes by cutting some repeats. Enjoy!!!Audio link: https://thomasoboelee.bandcamp.com/album/symphony-no-7-roman-holidays-2008-rev-2013Video link: https://youtu.be/1DlzEOUmH54
