Its 2 melodies span 36 years. The first tune came to me when I was 8 years old and on holiday in the Co.Donegal town of Buncrana, west Ireland. Back then there was a small shop on Buncrana’s high street that sold everything from milk to DIY tools. And the name of the shop was “John Thinn And Sonâ€. I thought this was an awesome name and I remember the shop owner, the real Mr. Thinn, being a lovely kindly, rather shy and gentle man. And this inspired my childhood mind’s character of Mr.Thinn the magic-toy maker.  The 2nd theme arrived in September 2011 as soon as I had decided that Mr.Thinn’s first tune had waited long enough and now needed to find a permanent home. Once again writing for the wonderful Banda di musica has given me a unique chance to release an old and very special melody that has lain neglected and home-less for over 3 decades. The resulting piece is light hearted, fun and in a simple ABA form.There are 2 arrangements;No. 1 – School Arrangement ; Violins 1, 2 and 3, Cellos 1 and 2No. 2 – Standard Arrangement ; Violins 1 and 2, Viola, Cello and Double BassThere are a few violin and cello solos throughout which are to be played by the section leaders. These are of moderate difficulty.

Several events in my personal life of a tragic nature which occurred during the year it was written (2014) have subconsciously contributed to this feeling, including in May 2014 the loss of a friend and colleague, followed in September by the loss of my father-in-law. An ongoing health issue which began in April prevented me from playing and performing to the best of my ability. Thankfully this issue has resolved itself; there is a ray of hope for the future. Tchaikovsky's lyrical mastery of the waltz is aptly demonstrated in this miniature from a set of twenty-four short works written in 1878. Trumpet parts in B-flat and alternate C are included and flugelhorn/trumpet substitute for horn. The sound file is an actual brass quintet performance of the entire arrangement and not a computer playback of the score. When coupled with my SMP brass quintet arrangement of Tchaikovsky's September from the Seasons or my transcription of his Andante from String Quartet No. 2 at Kendor Music it makes an attractive Tchaikovsky set. This is the second of eight waltzes I composed between September 2020 and April 2024. This was the second waltz I wrote, and the second during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is a gentle piece with a sense of a dream-like dance. The form is A-B-A'-A-Coda. It starts off in D and centers around the key of D, until the end, when the Coda transports the listener to an ending in G. Think of it like the dancers in the dream disappearing from sight.Regarding articulation: I use tenuto and accent + tenuto marks frequently in my compositions. I tend to use them mostly as indications for the melody and/or notes that should be emphasized or brought out. I never intend the accent + tenuto to be harsh, but it should be stronger than the tenuto alone.I intend to have a collection of all eight waltzes available for sale in addition to individual pieces. The available recording on Arrange Me and Sheet Music Plus is an export from Finale – not a live performance. Note, Finale did not keep the tempo consistent throughout. Thank you for your interest in this advanced piano solo piece I composed during the first year of the COVID-19 Pandemic. I found a sense of hope and optimism from performing this light waltz, despite that the vaccine was still many months away at that point and things were looking grim.The waltz is written pretty much in an Intro-A-B-A'-Coda form. While the tempo is listed as “Moderately,” do not play it too quickly. There are some elements of B-flat Lydian interspersed.Regarding articulation: I use tenuto and accent + tenuto marks frequently in my compositions. He was famous for his waltzes, and he popularized them alongside Joseph Lanner, thereby setting the foundations for his sons to carry on his musical dynasty. He is best known for his composition of the Radetzky March (named after Joseph Radetzky von Radetz).In 1835 he composed one of his most beautiful waltzes – Elisabethen Walzer.Strauss died in Vienna on 25 September 1849 at the age of 45 from scarlet fever contracted from one of his illegitimate children. He was buried at the Döblinger cemetery beside his friend Joseph Lanner. In 1904, both of their remains were transferred to the graves of honour at the Zentralfriedhof. The former Döbling Cemetery is now a Strauss-Lanner Park. Hector Berlioz himself paid tribute to the 'Father of the Viennese Waltz' by commenting that Vienna without Strauss is like Austria without the Danube.

Linzey (Ret.), believed that military hymns should not be waltzes. So he converted the timing of Mozart’s piece to four-four timing, giving the Air Force Hymn traditional timing that is fit for a hymn. James Linzey is the General Editor of the New Tyndale Version (NTV) Bible translation.

Bethena, A Concert Waltz (copyright registered March 6, 1905) is a composition by Scott Joplin. It was the first Joplin work since his wife Freddie's death on September 10, 1904, of pneumonia, ten weeks after their wedding. At the time the composer had significant financial problems; the work did not sell successfully at the time of publication and was soon neglected and forgotten. It was rediscovered as a result of the Joplin revival in the 1970s and has received acclaim from Joplin's biographers and other critics. The piece combines two different styles of music, the classical waltz and the rag, and has been seen as demonstrating Joplin's excellence as a classical composer. The work has been described as an enchantingly beautiful piece that is among the greatest of Ragtime Waltzes, a masterpiece, and Joplin's finest waltz.

It received its world premiere in September 2019 in Germany as part of a concert to celebrate the retirement of Gary’s Boss, Wolfgang Bernhardt, the work’s dedicatee and himself an excellent musician. It was this special occasion which inspired the work’s title, Latin for New Life.The piece is packed with excitement and has a wide range of moods, from the rather somber opening to the comical, lively main theme, which resembles a strange cross between a fast, crazy waltz and a jig. In the middle there is a flamboyant flute cadenza which leads us into a calm, ethereal, slightly mysterious section, before the lively, mischievous waltzy jig returns, to eventually lead us into a beautiful calm, dignified ending derived from the somber opening melody but now with glorious, positive harmony and a feeling that all is right and good.

Considered a leading composer of the late Romantic and early modern eras, he has been described as a successor of Richard Wagner and Franz Liszt. Along with Gustav Mahler, he represents the late flowering of German Romanticism, in which pioneering subtleties of orchestration are combined with an advanced harmonic style.Der Rosenkavalier (The Knight of the Rose or The Rose-Bearer), Op. 59, is a comic opera in three acts by Richard Strauss to an original German libretto by Hugo von Hofmannsthal. It is loosely adapted from Louvet de Couvrai's novel Les amours du chevalier de Faublas and Molière's comedy Monsieur de Pourceaugnac.In 1945 Strauss allowed an orchestral Rosenkavalier Suite to be published, but apparently was not involved in creating it. It is likely that conductor Artur Rodziński arranged it, as he conducted the suite's first performance, in October 1944 by the New York Philharmonic.The suite begins with the opera's orchestral prelude, depicting the Marschallin's and Octavian's night of passion (vividly portrayed by whooping horns and saxophones). Next comes the appearance of Octavian as the Rosenkavalier, depicted in tender music; the sight of him looking so young makes the Marschallin realise that he will soon leave her for a younger woman. There follows the duet between Octavian and Sophie – in which their love for each other becomes ever more obvious, but this is abruptly interrupted by the discordant music associated with Ochs's clumsy arrival. Next the violins tentatively introduce the first waltz, followed by another given out by the solo violin, before the whole orchestra settles into waltz mode. A general pause and a violin solo leads into the nostalgic music where the Marschallin sadly realises she has lost Octavian. Then comes its ecstatic climax. The work closes with a singularly robust waltz, depicting Ochs at his most pompous, and a boisterous coda newly composed for the suite.The PDF contains the Full Score and a full set of parts.

It is in many respects a symphonic work for flute trio, with the characteristics and order of the four movements resembling the structure of a classical symphony. As a child during the Space Race, I was immensely interested in both terrestrial- and extraterrestrial-exploration, and as I composed this music a half-century later it made the most sense to set the musical ideas in this manner. In the first movement, Black Hole, two contrasting themes are presented and immediately developed: a theme of polyphonic gestures, with a contrasting second theme of chordal-textured music. The characteristic and somewhat liquid sound of the flute trio in the second theme is especially evident. The static and evolving blocks of music represent the gravitational collection of matter by a black hole. The second movement, A Crescent Moon, 1969, celebrates astronaut Neil Armstrong's moonwalk in July 1969. This slow, lyrical movement possesses a nocturnal quality while features the alto flute as a solo instrument. The third movement, SETI Radio (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence), is a slow through-composed scherzo. With piccolo, a high tessitura of the flute trio range is heard. The fourth movement is a dynamic Rondo Variations form. Ohne Sorgen (Without Cares), a Polka schnell (Quick Polka) by Josef Strauss, younger brother of the famous king of waltz Johann jr., was composed in 1869,while passing the summer with the Strauss orchestra in Pavlovsk near St. Petersburg, Russia. It was premiered there on 10 September 1869. As a special feature of this piece, laughing by the musicians is demanded at certain points in the Trio. This is more difficult to execute with a wind band, as wind players can't laugh and play simultaneously like string players. The arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra. Is was first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their Three Kings' Concert on 6 January 2015 in the Grosses Festspielhaus (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria, repeated on 6 January 2023 by Salzburg Wind Philharmonic and broadcasted both times live by Austrian television.
