Here is a violin solo with piano accompaniment that would fit for both a church service or a Christmas recital. The opening has the piano playing soft clanging chords to imitate distant bells while the violin has the opening melody. The arrangement then moves the theme into a rhythmically  and joyfully syncopated pattern for the piano and violin to pass between them. The third stanza will explore the melody in a minor key with seventh, ninth and eleventh chords in the accompaniment. The final stanza brings the melody with quadruple stops using open strings and some double stops. The accompaniment fills in with big chords imitating joyful church bells.

Rome's Pantheon, based on Greek mythical legends was first constructed over 2,000 years ago as a temple of all the gods. In the year 609, it became a Catholic church.Pantheon for Violin, Horn, and Piano by the great Canadian composer Elizabeth Raum is a seven-movement suite of chamber music depicting various of the Greek gods:1. Eos: Goddess of the Dawn2. Moirae: Gods of Fate3. Aphrodite: Goddess of Love and Beauty4. Zeus and Hera5. Artemis (Diana) Goddess of the Moon and the Hunt6. Hermes (Mercury) of the Winged Sandals7. Apollo: God of Sun and LightHere are the comments about Pantheon from composer Elizabeth Raum:Pantheon alludes to a temple, a musical temple in this case, devoted to the gods of ancient Greek mythology, several of whom are represented in this work. The first movement opens with a horn call as Eos, Goddess of the Dawn begins her rosy-fingered awakening, and rising from her couch, ascends the heavens in her horse-drawn chariot. She heralds the approach of her brother, Helius, the sun god, whose superior brightness causes her color to fade. In the second movement, The Fates (Moirae) spin their thread of life and death. The minimalist quality of the music, representing the steady turn of the spindle, becomes more and more agitated as Atropos, the Fate who holds the shears, prepares to cut the thread. The hand stopped horn and the Bartok pizzicato signify the final snip. A moment of contemplation, and they begin again. Some try to persuade Atropos to delay a moment, but she cannot be deterred. Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, is the third movement. She arose from the foam of the sea and all were charmed by her grace, but she could also be coy and flirtatious as she is in this version. Zeus and Hera, the king and queen of the gods, make up the fourth movement. The opening theme suggests the regal stride of Zeus while Hera, furious at his many infidelities, quarrels with him and schemes to thwart his affairs. In the fifth movement, Artemis (Dawn Goddess of the Moon and the Hunt), holds high her silver bow that gleams in the night sky like the new moon. The clouds drift silently past while she runs with her hounds and dances with her nymphs. Hermes (Mercury) of the Winged Sandals, sixth movement, is scored for violin and horn alone. He is a very mischievous and cunning god, and his exceptional swiftness is aided by his winged sandals as he flies to carry out his divine duties. And finally in the seventh movement, Apollo the horn again summons the gods. A hymn to Apollo celebrates the god of eternal youth, beauty, and music. This is a major chamber work for Violin, Horn, and Piano of about 26 minutes in length written for Erika Raum, Phil Myers, and Peter Allen and is appropriate for very advanced artists.

A free mp3 file of the pre-recorded sounds for this composition is available at https://www.dropbox.com/s/pkqxbtnymb6iknu/lan_na_thai_prs.mp3?dl=0 Lan Na Thai was composed during 2008 at the request of Dr. Andy Wen for a performance at the 2009 World Saxophone Congress in Bangkok, Thailand. The composition is in three movements with each titled after a different period in Thailand history. The piece is loosely programmatic as it tries to capture the general mood of each era, rather than specific events. I. Sukhothai (The Dawn of Happiness) This movement reflects the ideal state, a land of plenty, and is peaceful. II. Ayutthaya This movement reflects a period of wealth that is characterized by wars with Burma. III. The Chakri Dynasty This movement reflects the more hectic pace of modern society where Thailand moves from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional monarchy. Folk music of Thailand is built on a seven-note scale of equal intervals. The fourth and seventh notes of this scale are often used only for ornamental purposes. In order to approximate this scale, a pentatonic scale is used as it is like a major scale with the fourth and seventh tones removed. The pre-recorded sounds approximate some of the instruments traditionally used in Thai folk music.

ISBN 9790570484133.This bassoon concerto was written in 2013. It is an epic story in seven movements where we follow the bassoon from darkness to light. It is a life-quest journey which is an expression of personal experiences. The movements are: Searching, On The Move, Resting, A New Dawn, Entering The Light, At A Crossroad and On The Foot-path To Happiness. The concerto wanders through a wide variety of experiences and feelings. The main character, represented by the bassoon, starts in a depressed state of darkness, where very encounter with anything even remotely light or beautiful almost increases the feeling of despair (Searching). Then, a spark of anger is born which takes us on to the second movement (On The Move). This feeling takes the character forward, and out or depressive numbness. In the third movement (Resting) the character can finally rest, but still with an underlying feeling of sadness and loneliness, and it is not until the fourth movement (A New Dawn) that the bassoon starts to live a little, which leads into a more peaceful experience (Entering The Light). After that the character needs to ponder over where to go next (At A Crossroad), and finally in the seventh slightly mad movement (On The Footpath To Happiness), the character can live to the full, finding his way in this ever changing world.

Call Me Irresponsible is a 1962 song composed by Jimmy Van Heusen with lyrics written by Sammy Cahn which won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1963.According to the Mel Tormé book The Other Side of the Rainbow with Judy Garland on the Dawn Patrol, Van Heusen originally wrote the song for Garland to sing at a CBS dinner. At that time, Garland had just signed to do The Judy Garland Show on CBS, and the intent of the song was to parody her well-known problems. Garland later sang the song on the seventh episode of the show.However, in 1988, Sammy Cahn said during an interview with freelance writer Harlan Conti, in San Francisco, that the song was originally written for Fred Astaire to sing in the film Papa's Delicate Condition in which Astaire was to star. Cahn personally auditioned the song for Astaire's approval, which was given. However, Astaire's contractual obligations prevented him from making the film and the role went to Jackie Gleason, who introduced the song. It won the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 36th Academy Awards held in 1964.Cahn is said to have had a particular satisfaction in the number of five-syllable words in the lyrics of Call Me Irresponsible.Being born in 1963, you can call me irresponsible for orchestrating this lovely jazz standard. Frank Frazetta was a Brooklyn-born painter who became the most influential artist in the 'sword and sorcery' fantasy genre. This suite consists of four movements, each depicting the drama found in the accompanying paintings. Dawn Attack features brief, churning motifs that propel the music forward. Egyptian Queen begins with an ancient horn call atop a jingling dance rhythm.Leaping Lizards (from 1989) consists of several monster movie cliches: Heavy angular brass motifs ending in a rising major seventh, screeching woodwinds, and frequent chromatic lines and augmented arpeggios. The Silver Warrior is monothematic in form, lending to its concise style. The music moves forward in hopeful resilience and ends as rousing as the icy mountain range that adorns the background of this scintillating painting.
