Published by Jonah Koppitz (A0.943859). The first thing that you should know about this piece is that it breaks nearly every rule of counterpoint that it can. To me, this composition represents the antithesis of how classical composers thought to compose. By directly contradicting the rules they follow and still creating music, it shows that stiff rule formats and limits on what makes good music are not necessary and oftentimes restrict creative composing. My only hope is that, if Johann Joseph Fux were alive today, he’d see my work as an abomination of all the rules he holds so dear.My Ruleset:1. In sixth species counterpoint (countercounterpoint/anticounterpoint), you may write as many notes as desired in your new melody for each note in the cantus firmus.2. The first note and the last note must not form either an octave, unison, or a fifth with the cantus firmus.3. The penultimate note of your melody should not be an even scale degree.4. Augmented Fourths must resolve down and Diminished Fifths must resolve up.5. You may use parallel motion very recklessly because it obscures the independence of the voices.6. The harmonic interval formed between the voices on the downbeat of every measure may not be a perfect/major consonance-unison, third, fifth, sixth or octave. Diminished, Augmented, and Minor are fine.7. The interval formed between the voices on the second beat of every measure may not be a major third or major sixth.8. The overall shape of your melody should have a single high-point, preferably as far from the middle as is reasonable.9. Except for on the first beat of a measure, Consonant intervals are only allowed if preceded by a dissonant interval on a strong beat.10. Every Chord is fair game.11. The interval between the first beat of each measure should alternate between even numbers and odd numbers.12. Leaps must prepare, leap, and resolve in the same direction and may be greater than a fifth.13. Functional Harmony is for cowards who let chords tell them what to do.

It is the sixth piece in the composer's first book of Preludes, written between late 1909 and early 1910. The title is in French and translates to Footprints in the Snow . Thought to be inspired by the hugely popular French impressionist painting , called Snow at Louveciennes, Debussy's inspiration from Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky is evident in this piece through his utilization of a block-like dissonant chord just before the middle part of the piece My own personal touches on this piece, included extended chord progression and formation with small variants on melody and counter melodies, Also, more importantly, the expression of the performers interpretation as well as my own for the creation and musically paint a magical snow scene.Arranged and scored for piccolo, 6 flutes in c, alto flute in g, bass flute , opt. contra bass flute and / or optional cello.Perfect for large and small ensembles. Perfect for winter concerts, prelude services, recitals, concerts. I thought this impressionist piece, much like the the famous french paintings are a perfect pairing for winter, snow days, and environmental effects . Composed between 1887 and 1890, Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem is not only one of his best-known works but one of the most popular piece of choral music in the Classical repertoire, coming 23rd in the Classic FM’s Hall of Fame 2024. Believed to be a tribute to his father (who died in 1885), Fauré himself said “My Requiem wasn't written for anything – for pleasure, if I may call it that!” It started life as a five-movement work but was later expanded to be the final seven-movement work we know today. The first version (which Fauré called “un petit Requiem”) was first performed on 16 January 1888, with Fauré conducting, a second version premiered on 21 January 1893 before the final version (reworked for full orchestra) was played on 12 July 1900; the Requiem was performed at the composer’s own funeral in 1924.The Libera Me, or Deliver Me, was actually written in 1877 and is the sixth part of the Requiem.Fauré once said of the work, “Everything I managed to entertain by way of religious illusion I put into my Requiem, which moreover is dominated from beginning to end by a very human feeling of faith in eternal rest. Upon interview, he also said, “It has been said that my Requiem does not express the fear of death and someone has called it a lullaby of death. But it is thus that I see death: as a happy deliverance, an aspiration towards happiness above, rather than as a painful experience. The music of Gounod has been criticised for its inclination towards human tenderness. But his nature predisposed him to feel this way: religious emotion took this form inside him. Is it not necessary to accept the artist's nature? As to my Requiem, perhaps I have also instinctively sought to escape from what is thought right and proper, after all the years of accompanying burial services on the organ! I know it all by heart. It follows the story of Hiccup and Toothless as they form an unlikely friendship, against the backdrop of the Viking village of Berk, where the other villagers attempt to kill dragons when they attack.The music is composed by John Powell. Whilst this was his sixth collaboration with DreamWorks Animation, it was the first where he was the sole composer (having worked with other composers such as Harry Gregson-Williams and Hans Zimmer prior to this). In an interview with The Wasp, Powell said that the directors wanted “size and depth and emotionâ€, wanting “a feeling of the Nordic musical past.†This led him to the music of Nielsen, Grieg and, in particular, Sibelius. “Sibelius was the key. I studied a lot of Sibelius as a kid, and I've always adored his music.†He continues, “we looked at all the folk music from the Nordic areas. It perfectly brings together “Hiccup's Theme†and “Toothless' Themeâ€. The two themes take over from each other, representing the development of their onscreen relationship during this flight scene as Hiccup starts to trust Toothless, and vice versa.
