YouTube Link: https://youtu.be/MjFXUSRvHdM Other Arrangements Available: https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/fernando-ramos-sheet-music/3016426?isPLP=1 I make piano solo arrangements for my students of songs that they love! My goal is to create something that sounds beautiful as a standalone piece of music and, most importantly, that it also makes pianistic sense. Each of my arrangements is made for a specific student, so the results will vary in terms of playing level. Most decisions are based on their current skills and abilities, or where I would like for them to be when they complete the piece. This arrangement was made for a mid-beginner student working in Level 1/2 of Alfred's Masterwork Classics, Primary II Class. Great exercise for counting tied eighth notes. But the truth is, when a student knows the song, sometimes the counting goes straight out the window! My student ended up learning this in about two weeks. We were both surprised! Pedal and fingering suggestions are included.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.851104 By Nine Inch Nails. By Trent Reznor. Arranged by Whimsically Macabre (ASCAP). Contemporary. Score. 4 pages. Stacy Fahrion #4633863. Published by Stacy Fahrion (A0.851104). This solo piano arrangement was inspired by the version on Black Mirror. It's arranged by Stacy Fahrion/Whimsically Macabre Music (ASCAP).I get really excited when music can carry multiple contradictory meanings, and spend a lot of time thinking about how I can mess with my audience by making things sound familiar but wrong. When I saw the Rachel, Jack, and Ashley Too episode of Black Mirror, I recognized the melody of the oddly upbeat pop song Ashley O was singing but couldn't quite place it because unconsciously I knew something was really off, and then slowly it dawned on me that it was a NIN cover, and I flipped out with utter joy that someone had just done something to me that I'm constantly trying to do to them. Every time the song played throughout the episode, I couldn't stop laughing, not just at the lyrics, but especially at a certain trite & upbeat sounding bassline and all of the different musical elements that completely changed the feel of the original. So of course I needed to write my own arrangement of that arrangement. I hope you enjoy it. Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1270160 By Arlo Guthrie. By Arlo Guthrie. Arranged by Craig Hanson. A Cappella,Comedy,Folk. Octavo. 6 pages. Edition Craig Hanson #862589. Published by Edition Craig Hanson (A0.1270160). For TTBB chorus a cappella and solo voice. As performed by Arlo Guthrie.Wanna hear something? You know that Indians never ate clams. They didn't have linguini! And so what happened was that clams was allowed to grow unmolested in the coastal waters of America for millions of years. And they got big, and I ain't talking about clams in general, I'm talking about each clam! Individually. I mean each one was a couple of million years old or older. So imagine they could have got bigger than this whole room. And when they get that big, God gives them little feet so that they could walk around easier. And when they get feet, they get dangerous. I'm talking about real dangerous. I ain't talking about sitting under the water waiting for you. I'm talking about coming after you.Imagine being on one of them boats coming over to discover America, like Columbus or something, standing there at night on watch, everyone else is either drunk or asleep. And you're watching for America and the boat's going up and down. And you don't like it anyhow but you gotta stand there and watch, for what? Only he knows, and he ain't watching. You hear the waves lapping against the side of the ship. The moon is going behind the clouds. You hear the pitter patter of little footprints on deck. ‘Is that you kids?’ It ain't! My god! It's this humongous, giant clam!Imagine those little feet coming on deck. A clam twice the size of the ship. Feet first. You're standing there shivering with fear, you grab one of these. This is a belaying pin. They used to have these stuck in the holes all around the ship… You probably didn't know what this is for; you probably had an idea, but you were wrong. They used to have these stuck in the holes all along the sides of the ship, everywhere. You wouldn't know what this is for unless you was that guy that night.I mean, you'd grab this out of the hole, run on over there, bam bam on them little feet! Back into the ocean would go a hurt, but not defeated, humongous, giant clam. Ready to strike again when opportunity was better. You know not even the coastal villages was safe from them big clams. You know them big clams had an inland range of about 15 miles. Think of that. I mean our early pioneers and the settlers built little houses all up and down the coast you know. A little inland and stuff like that and they didn't have houses like we got now, with bathrooms and stuff. They built little privies out back. And late at night, maybe a kid would have to go, and he'd go stomping out there in the moonlight. And all they'd hear for miles around...(loud clap/belch).... One less kid for America. One more smiling, smurking, humongous, giant clam.So Americans built forts. Them forts --you know—them pictures of them forts with the wooden points all around. You probably thought them points was for Indians but that's stupid! 'Cause Indians know about doors. But clams didn't. Even if a clam knew about a door, so what? A clam couldn't fit in a door. I mean, he'd come stomping up to a fort at night, put them feet on them points, jump back crying, tears coming out of them everywhere. But Americans couldn't live in forts forever. You couldn't just build one big fort around America. How would you go to the beach? So what they did was they formed groups of people. I mean they had groups of people all up and down the coast form these little alliances. Like up North it was call the Clamshell Alliance. And farther down South it was called the Catfish Alliance. They had these Alliances all up and down the coast defending themselves against these threatening monsters. These humongous giant clams. Andt hey'd go out there, if there was maybe fifteen of them they'd be singing songs in fifteen part harmony. And when one part disappeared, that's how they knew where the clam would be.Which is why Americans only sing in four part harmony to this very day. That proved to be too dangerous. See, what they did was they'd be singing these songs called Clam Chanties, and they'd have these big spears called clampoons. And they'd be walking up and down the beach and the method they eventually devised where they'd have this guy, the most strongest heavy duty true blue American, courageous type dude they could find and they'd have him out there walking up and down the beach by himself with other chicken dudes hiding behind the sand dunes somewhere. He'd be singing the verses. They'd be singing the chorus, and clams would hear 'em. And clams hate music. So clams would come out of the water and they'd come after this one guy. And all you'd see pretty soon was flying all over the sand flying up and down the beach manmanclamclammanmanclam manclamclamman up and down the beach going this way and that way up the hills in the water out of the water behind the trees everywhere. Finally the man would jump over a big sand dune, roll over the side, the clam would come over the dune, fall in the hole and fourteen guys would come out there and stab the shit out of him with their clampoons. That's the way it was. That was one way to deal with them. The other way was to weld two clams together. [I don't believe it. I'm losing it. Hey. What can you do. Another night shot to hell.] Hey, this was serious back then. This was very serious. I mean these songs now are just piddly folk songs. But back then these songs were controversial. These was radical, almost revolutionary songs. Because times was different and clams was a threat to America. That's right. So we want to sing this song tonight about the one last... You see what they did was there was one man, he was one of these men, his name will always be remembered, his name was Reuben Clamzo, and he was one of the last great clam men there ever was. He stuck the last clam stab. The last clampoon into the last clam that was ever seen on this continent. Knowing he would be out of work in an hour. He did it anyway so that you and me could go to the beach in relative safety. That's right. Made America safe for the likes of you and me. And so we sing this song in his memory. He went into whaling like most of them guys did and he got out of that, when he died. You know, clams was much more dangerous than whales. Clams can run in the water, on the water or on the ground, and they are so big sometimes that they can jump and they can spread their kinda shells and kinda almost fly like one of them flying squirrels. You could be standing there thinking that your perfectly safe and all of a sudden whop.... That's true... And so this is the song of this guy by the name of Reuben Clamzo and the song takes place right after he stabbed this clam and the clam was, going through this kinda death dance over on the side somewhere. The song starts there and he goes into whaling and takes you through the next...I sing the part of the guy on the beach by himself. I go like this: Poor old Reuben Clamzo and you go Clamzo Boys Clamzo. That's the part of the fourteen chicken dudes over on the other side. That's what they used to sing. They'd be calling these clams out of the water. Like taunting them making fun of them. Clams would get real mad and come out. Here we go. I want you to sing it in case you ever have an occasion to join such an alliance. You know some of these alliances are still around. Still defending America against things like them clams. If you ever wants to join one, now you have some historic background. So you know where these guys are coming from. It's not just some 60's movement or something, these things go back a long time.Notice the distinction you're going to have to make now between the first and easy Clamzo Boys Clamzo and the more complicated Clamzo Me Boys Clamzo. Stay serious! Folk songs are serious. That's what Pete Seeger told me. Arlo I only want to tell you one thing... Folk songs are serious. I said right. Let's do it in C for Clam...Iet's do it in B... For boy that's a big clam... Iet' s do it in G for Gee, I hope that big clam don't see me. Let's do it in F... For …he sees me. Let's do it back in A...for a clam is coming. Better get this song done quick. The Story of Reuben Clamzo and His Strange Daughter in the Key of A.

Choral Choir (SSA) - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.774734 By Fleet Foxes. By Robin Pecknold. Arranged by Sandra Millien. Contemporary. Octavo. 9 pages. Sandra Milliken #4404578. Published by Sandra Milliken (A0.774734). White Winter Hymnal was first released by the American indie folk band Fleet Foxes in 2008 as the first single from their debut self-titled album. The song was written by group member Robin Pecknold and has been covered by several groups and solo singers including Kim Wilde in 2013 and Pentatonix in 2014.The meaning behind White Winter Hymnal is somewhat open to conjecture. Pecknold has explained that he intended this gently uplifting song to be like Whistle While You Work from Snow White – something to hum along to as you do the dishes. Pecknold added that the words actually tell a more painful story about loss of the innocence of youth, being about my experience when I was a kid, you know, like I had my really tight group of friends. But as we grew up from grade school to junior high to high school, everybody just kind of split off, and everybody kind of changed. I went from like this tight-knit group to, seemingly for no reason, everybody was kind of going their own way. That song is just about that feeling. This very accessible arrangement, featuring piano and guitar accompaniment with tambourine percussion, is ideally suited to winter and general programming, and makes an ideal concert opener.

Classical Guitar Solo - IntermediateComposed by Edwin Culver (1992-) 4 Pages. Duration 7'30Composer's note: Have you ever felt stuck? Trapped by something you can’t fully understand no matter how hard you try? Perhaps it’s something from our past that we never invited...or something we’ve missed in our closest relationships, maybe it’s just the dread we’ve felt waking up early in the morning to repeat the daily grind. We work hard to try and propel ourselves out of this nightmare, but we never seem to get totally free, in fact sometimes it feels like we’re just making ourselves feel worse by failing to overcome it yet again. This piece, ...a bridge a-way, exits within, represents that feedback loop, that stuckness. The piece came to me when I felt stuck in life by several things - old scars, old habits, crippling emotions. I had been wanting to write something in a minimalist style for the guitar for quite some time and the repetition found in so much minimalist music seemed like the obvious way for expressing this stuckness. There’s constant motion in the piece, just like when we try to take constant action in our lives to improve our circumstances. But all this motion never seems to get us anywhere new. We’re spinning our wheels…But one of the interesting things about great minimalist music is that it’s not merely about repetition. I don’t believe the greatest minimalists were concerned with having less stuff in their music for the sake of having less. Instead, what I think they more often aimed for was producing the biggest emotional impact that they could through the tiniest of changes. And if in your mind’s eye you zoom out from one of these minimalist masterworks and perceive it on a grand scale, you realize that despite all the seemingly redundant repetition in the moment the piece actually covers a huge distance because all those tiny changes add up.Likewise, in ...a bridge a-way, exits within, it seems like the performer can’t free himself from the territory of the first position on the guitar for the longest time. Even when he does venture higher up the instrument he’s always inextricably pulled back to the starting point. But small changes can have a profound impact. It doesn’t feel like we’re making headway whenever we’re having to crawl out of our skin - until, suddenly, when it’s all over. And you hear this towards the end of the piece, when there’s a sudden magnetic force that pulls the music from a low A to a high E-natural. From A to E, a bridge to exits eternal. The bridge has been found within, in the One I’ve put my trust in, because I can’t reach my eternal destiny on my own. This is ...a bridge a-way, exits within.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1425810 By Damien Gauci. By Damien Gauci. Contemporary,New Age. Score. 4 pages. Damien Gauci #1006570. Published by Damien Gauci (A0.1425810). When I wrote this piece - I actually decided to base it off a piece that I learnt when I doing piano exams when I was a lot younger. I used the structure of the piece to inspire my writing, copying things like the phrase lengths and the general style and feel of the piece. I find that’s a really good way to go about writing a piece when I’m not feeling too inspired. Taking a piece you enjoy listening to and copying some element that stands out to you like the structure, harmony, melody, rhythm, texture, tone colour, etc. I mean the options are endless.Once you have a part of the piece that you want to copy you can really go from there and just make the piece your own. As long as you don’t copy too many aspects of the piece then you will come up with something original because no one is you. I highly recommend trying this writing technique if you write music as it really helps you to just get started on your music.

Solo Guitar - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1167528 Composed by Larry Williams. Contemporary,Folk,Jazz. Individual part. 80 pages. Larry Andrew Williams #767908. Published by Larry Andrew Williams (A0.1167528). A WORD FROM THE COMPOSER Is anyone interested in new reading material anymore? I know that when I was a kid in nineteen hundred and something, the quest for new musical pieces was always one of the funnest aspects of the whole musical journey. Of course I did learn that it would take a long time to  nd those few that would resonate with me for a lifetime, but it was always fun trying them all out. It still is, in fact. Well, times change and people change, but I’d still like to believe that same factor carries on. You know, the one about trying out all that music to get to the few you keep. And what about the few we do keep? For guitar players, was it always a classic from the usual suspects, like Albeniz, Sor, Tarrega,, Granados, Rodrigo, Brouwer, Barrios, Villa-Lobos, or anything by Bach? Was it something our band director or private instructor, one of our friends, or our parents wrote? Or – Heaven forbid- something that maybe we ourselves wrote? Or some “unknown guy.â€Â Consider this.Just how often did some unknown composer's piece greatly affect us as we waded through a daunting pile of the familiar from the known masters? And since some, if not most of these classics are required reading, how often did we even get around to giving this unknown guy's piece a try?And furthermore, was this unknown guy - shudder...alive? Let’s face it. In the composer arena, we the living, stand no chance against the deceased (God rest their souls) But by saying “they don’t write ‘em like that anymore,†are we denying ourselves new ground to be broken, doors to be opened, frontiers to be discovered? And isn’t that pioneering spirit just plain ol’ curiosity when it comes right down to it? Well I believe the key lies within the carrying out of these notions that curiosity places in us. It’s climbing the mountain simply because it is there. So, for right now, I’m that unknown guy and I would only urge you to break new ground every day. Lots of trends, ideas, and interests will come and go in your life, but always hang on to that curiosity. It’s what makes the world a smaller neighborhood. Larry Williams.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1321517 By Marlowe Haws. By Marlowe Haws. Arranged by Marlowe Haws. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary,Halloween,New Age. Score. 3 pages. Marlowe Music Productions #909979. Published by Marlowe Music Productions (A0.1321517). This is another of my earliest works that I have since polished up. This was the first song I ever wrote that I considered to be brilliant and really gave me the confidence and motivation to continue on my path to being an origianl composer. I've gotten tired of this talentless era that we live in where it's all about using technology to remaster and auto-tune and just cover the same old songs... This was my attempt to make something that is formless, no template for rehashing, but something truly original. I have tried to carry that spirit with my subsequent songs. I'd like to give you my art for free, but sadly this world wants me to be a slave to my employer and I'm not making enough money, so here I am trying to sell my music. I feel like the spirit of art aught to be a spirit of creation and giving. Modern art has perverted this spirit to one of copying and marketing... I hope you enjoy this, I put a lot of effort and heart into it.

Small Ensemble B-Flat Clarinet,Bass Clarinet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1028052 Composed by Sarah Hersh. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 59 pages. Burbury Lane Music #3368591. Published by Burbury Lane Music (A0.1028052). River Music is a fun and accessible piece that has received much positive feedback in the clarinet world and has been performed many times, including at the International Clarinet Association's ClarinetFest. It is an approximately 8 minute piece for two Bb clarinets and bass clarinet that would be equally at home on an environmental-themed concert or any other type of program. It is a relatively advanced piece but has been performed by high school students. River Music was written for Clarinets for Conservation.Program Note: River Music was inspired by my time one summer spent on the Chattahoochee River and at the Chattahoochee Nature Center near Atlanta, Georgia. I have always had a connection to bodies of water, having spent many summers and weekends at the lake by my grandparents’ house in New York. While sometimes I feel like an outsider as a New Yorker living in the South, as soon as I got on the river, canoeing down the Chattahoochee, I felt at home again. Something about the river reminds me of my childhood on Lake Peekskill, and River Music was partially inspired by that connection.Once I started writing the piece, it took on a life of its own, as water and nature (and composing) often does. One reason I’ve always felt strongly about environmentalism and protecting our natural environment is that all of it – the trees, the earth, the rivers, the lakes – has been here long before we came along and started messing it up, and it will (hopefully) be here long after we’re gone, as long as we make sure to protect these natural spaces and wilderness areas. I often think about how much trees have seen, and as I wrote this piece I started thinking about how much the river has seen too. I hear stories in River Music, and to me it’s the river telling us some, though certainly nowhere near all, of its stories.Perhaps River Music will take you, the listener, on a journey down the river-not just through space, but through time. You might hear some of the same stories I hear. Or you may not. Part of the beauty of writing a piece inspired by a river is that I hope you hear in it whatever the river means to you.Note: The sheet music includes a score, regular set of parts, and a bonus set of parts that include a partial score underneath the main part. The composer is a member of ASCAP and may be reached at www.sarahhersh.com or sarahhershcomposer@gmail.com.

Guitar - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1175289 Composed by Brian Streckfus. Instructional. Guitar Tab. 5 pages. Brian Streckfus #774500. Published by Brian Streckfus (A0.1175289). Pages: 5 (84 chords to name)Objective:Instead of learning chords one by one, you instead learn how to build chords yourself. Also, this mindset helps in composing, because instead of seeing things as wrong chord versus correct chord, you simply see it as every harmony as a name. Like many things in life, theoritcal concepts can allow you to formulate thousands of outcomes in a single day. Tips:1. You start counting from 0 for this exercise if that makes any sense. Avoid the common fence post error by overcounting by 1. Other times you start counting from 1 in music is when talking about scale degrees. What is the distance from C to E? C(0) C#(1) D(2) D#(3) E(4).2. Use the chromatic scale at the top to help in counting.3. E# = F...Fb = E...B# = C...Cb = B...In otherwords, don't let strange enharmonics confuse you. Picture the black key sometimes missing between white keys on a piano in your mind if it helps. 4. Even though enharmonics like E# can seem confusing, they can actually add clarity sometimes because they cause the chord to stack perfectly in the sheet music and letter names. A# C# E#...versus...A# C# F...Sure, F is easier to understand in a part, but it actually makes the harmony harder to understand because not it looks like it isn't 3rds, even though it is.5. I included tab just to make this worksheet a little bit more interesting; however, the guitar chords that result are NOT practical. Voicings of common guitar chords are much more spread out, and often contain more duplicate letter names. Practical guitar chords is sort of a different conversation. I sort of did this intentionally to prove that perfectly stacked voicings do not work well on guitar. C E G Bb perfectly in order in harmony, sounds like it would be easy on guitar, but it is not.6. To make this more practical on guitar, I recommend building the chords yourself by simply knowing letter names well on guitar. The next time something asks for G major, don't just play a common voicing, actually find G B D randomly on the guitar neck. 7. Often the fifth of a chord is removed since it is the least important to invoking the flavor of the chord. This is especially true on guitar because we quickly run out of fingers and strings.8. The nature of the piano lends pianists to constantly seeing these distances on a linear plane. Conversely, guitar is a very murky instrument since the real distances of pitches is counterintuitive to arbitrary (usually) fret numbers! That is why many guitarists would benefit from thinking this way, instead of thinking of chords simply as shapes (which is also important for different reasons). In other words, try to build a chord on one string on guitar. It is impractical, but the half step distances required for chords will make much more sense. To Do:1. Slight differences in how the sheet look need to be made similiar.2. Remove green line.

Solo Guitar - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1139670 Composed by Brian Streckfus. Instructional,Jazz,Singer/Songwriter. Individual part. 12 pages. Brian Streckfus #739941. Published by Brian Streckfus (A0.1139670). This is a 12-page PDF showing 7 guitar chords on each page. Rather than selling each PDF seperately (which is a bit overpriced and too much of a hassle), I decided to combine them and offer a great deal! Learn how to compose chord progressions like a pro while having fun and playing! Objective:Teach yourself the seven chords that belong to each type of scale. Rather than bombard you with a thousand guitar chords (which is easy to happen when browsing the internet or playing random songs), I'd rather show how a select few chords are working well together in common contexts. The hope is that you would then be able to see this happening in all 12 keys. What Scales/Modes are being harmonized? C Major (+jazz version) A (natural) minor (+jazz version) A harmonic minor (+jazz version) B Locrian D Dorian E Phyrigian F Lydian G Mixolydian Features: Slowly increases in physical and theoritcal difficulty at the same time. Many music theory books seem abstract and impractical whereas these chord charts show music theory applied to guitar. These chord progressions are a great composition aid. Guitar chord diagrams Traditional notation with letter names on the note heads Roman numerals color coded Modes included. The Beatles and jazz musicians use modal chord progressions to give their music uniqueness. It's almost as if one note is wrong intentionally. Practicality and flow on guitar is emphasized more then music theory conciseness. Letter names are not in a perfect order (as that is sometimes impossible for the guitar to do). Sometimes a more complex chord is opted for because it's actually easier to play physically. Tips: Order = Blue, Yellow, Red, Blue for stereotypical classical style chord progressions. Rock and blues often do more of a chord succession; red going to yellow happens often, even though it is breaking a rule. The professional names for blue, yellow, red: tonic, predominant, dominant respectively. I did not invent this theoretical concept, but I am probably one of the few musician's to color code the categories regularly. The colors explain the situation elegantly; the professional words seem like abstract PhD education, whereas saying blue is relaxing and red is uncomfortable is something a child can understand quickly. One fantastic tip I hardly hear anyone say: it doesn't so much matter that you play the same chord as the other musician in your ensemble (unless you are getting paid to do exactly that). It matters more that you simply play the same color as them. You will have a deeper understanding of how music works if you think like this, and mistakes will no longer be seen as mistakes. What happens when a C Major and A minor chord are played at the same time? Hardly anything! It's just a Am7! Big whoop! It isn't a horrendous sounding mistake. Circle a key on the circle of fifths. Now circle the two keys next to it (-1b, +1#). This leads to six chords that belong diatonically to the first key you circled! Memorizing these will allow you to better predict what composers are about to do, especially if you know ahead of time that the song does not change key. Get away from the echo chamber of common are arugably bad cowboy chords and be able to build your own.

Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1303802 Composed by F. Leslie Smith. 21st Century,Chamber,Children,Historic,Multicultural,World. 77 pages. Sweetwater Brass Press #893335. Published by Sweetwater Brass Press (A0.1303802).     A song learned in primary school years and years ago had words something along the lines of the following:         Oh! I’m a young musician,         From distant lands I come.         Singing and playing,         Ever I’m straying.    Also known as “I Am a Fine Musician,†“I Am a Gay Musician†and perhaps other titles, that song is still around and has evolved into many different versions. The original was probably a German folk song from the early 1800s. As published in an 1889 collection of children’s songs, it bears the title, “Ich bin ein Musikant.â€Â That translates as “I am a musician.â€Â In the lyrics the musician claims to be “from Schwabenland†(Swabia) and to play geige (violin: “Dide schum schum schumâ€), flöte (flute: “Päde wäpp päpp päppâ€) and basse (bass: “Dide schum schum schump, päde wäpp päpp päpp). Later versions list the instruments played by the musician as bassoon, bells, clarinet, drum, guitar, piano, piccolo, triangle, trombone, trumpet, tuba, tympani, viola and just about every instrument and noisemaker you can think of.     Anyway, that’s the tune on which “The Brass Player†was built. But here, the musician is concerned only with brass. Which brass? Well, possibly trumpet. Or maybe horn in F. Or trombone. Or tuba. Or perhaps all four; certainly, all are featured in this piece.    “The Brass Player†comprises four sections. The first is in the key of C major and is played at a moderate 2/4 tempo. After a brief Trumpet/Tuba ostinato, Trombone introduces the main theme. Other instruments join in and play around with a variation or two.     The second section is a sweet, nostalgic rendition in 4/4 carried mainly by Horn in F, with help from Trumpets and Trombone.     In section three, the mood changes radically. Time signature goes to 3/4; tempo speeds up to vivace and the key changes to B Minor. All five instruments participate, and some odd things take place rhythmically at I through K (measures 200 through 262), but Tuba seems to carry the melody most of the time.    Section four, in G Major, clips along at a fast 4/4 time. It returns to the main theme and (as in “Ich bin ein Musikant†and its multitudinous derivations) presents in call-and-response form. The first few measures are straight, but discord quickly creeps in. The melody begins to include smears, flutter tonguing and off-beat rhythmic figures. There is even a brief section in G Minor. Gradually, order and theme are restored and the piece ends in a glorious, upbeat statement.    This piece, completed in 2023, consists of 398 measures, a little over nine minutes in length. There are four changes of key and four changes of time signature. Trumpet 1’s highest note is A above its staff; Trombone’s is F above the staff. Trumpet 2 has a few G-below-its-staff notes.    The arranger, Les Smith, will be happy to provide substitute parts (for example, treble clef baritone for trombone) at no charge. He would like to receive your suggestions, comments, corrections and criticisms. Contact him at lessmith61@bellsouth.net. For more arrangements by Les, enter Sweetwater Brass Press (without the quotation marks) in the Sheet Music Plus or Sheet Music Direct search box.

Drums - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.942699 Composed by Frank Pugh. Standards. Score. 11 pages. Frank Pugh #3115355. Published by Frank Pugh (A0.942699). Street Beat #1 is a fun groove that fits as a parade cadence or as a stands tune for the Friday game, and it’s written with the young or inexperienced percussion section in mind. Its flexible instrumentation lets you decide what works best! It sounds good with just a snare drum, tenors, and one bass drum, but it has enough parts to include every member of the percussion section for a stands tune, pep rallies, or as a brief concert piece. Each of the three mallet parts can stand alone or in combination, and they are interchangeable on the instruments you have available. Bass drum parts are written in unison so that you may use however many players you have, and the optional auxiliary percussion can add a little extra something with the tambourine and vibraslap parts. Zdes' khorosho - Serghei Rachmaninov

Piano,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.948808 Composed by Serghei Rachmaninov. Arranged by Adrian F. Pipas. 20th Century. 7 pages. Adrian F. Pipas #6642575. Published by Adrian F. Pipas (A0.948808). ЗдеÑÑŒ хорошо (Zdes' khorosho, How nice is here) was written in April 1902, in a sweet moment in the composer's life: he had overcome a creative block and had just married his cousin Natalia Sarina. Zdes' khorosho is n. 7 from Twelve Romances, op. 21, a beautiful song that talks about the bond between man, nature and God. It’s also a love song; One of the things I like the most is the balance between contemplation and passion that Rachmaninov accomplishes. The poem, by the Countess Glafira Adolfovna Einerling, a contemporary writer of the composer who wrote under the pseudonym of Galina, simply describes a sunset. I don't know if the landscape portrayed is similar to what Rachmaninov could see from his home but no doubt he felt it part of his own; he even changed the beginning of the poem so he said that the nice place was here. Zdes' khorosho is a song full of lyricism, seemingly simple but demanding for the singer (please pay attention to the pianissimo at the last verse, which seems to arise from nowhere), with an exquisite accompaniment. Some scholars think that the true essence of Rachmaninov is found in songs like that, rather than in his athletic piano concerts. In 1963, the Russian composer Vladimir Michailovich Jurowski (father and grandfather of conductors) orchestrated ten songs by Rachmaninov, including Zdes' khorosho, and there is a later orchestration of this song by Michael Rot. You know that I usually find it difficult to renounce the original piano versions, especially when the composer didn't orchestrated them, but I recommend you to listen to Anna Netrebko singing this song with the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev. You might wonder why I don't share this version here, there are two reasons: first, I can’t do without that beautiful piano; two, I chose my version months ago (something that lately happens quite often). I said before that Zdes' khorosho is between contemplation and passion; Most of singers enhance the most contemplative perspective, that's the case of the lovely performance by Anna Netrebko. Others sing the most passionate version, like the one we’re listening today. Its tempo is faster than usual, it lasts about a minute and a half; maybe it would surprise you if you're used to slower versions. I hope you enjoy this song as much as me; I think this performance by Nicolai Gedda and Gerald Moore, recorded live in 1966, is wonderful.Source: Liederabend.cathttps://www.liederabend.cat/en/bloc/entrades/400-how-nice-it-is-here

Woodwind Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1028053 Composed by Sarah Hersh. 20th Century,Contemporary. 14 pages. Burbury Lane Music #4276953. Published by Burbury Lane Music (A0.1028053). No clarinet duet has made me stop in rehearsal and just smile so much from how cool things sounded. - Marcus Moore, clarinetist on Duo MpingoDuo Mpingo is an approximately 6 minute crowd pleaser that is perfect for any occasion. It is a modern but accessible piece that is loosely based on the lifecycle of a mpingo, or African blackwood, tree. It is a relatively advanced piece but could be performed by advanced level students. Duo Mpingo can be programmed equally well on environmental-themed or any other type of concert.Program Note: When I began to research the mpingo (African blackwood) tree in preparation for writing this piece, I came to learn that it is a fascinating tree. It has the ability to survive fires, it does not reach maturity for about 70 – 100 years, and it improves soil fertility. However, it is endangered in several African countries due to illegal logging and over-harvesting, in part because of its beautiful dark heartwood. The outside of the mpingo tree looks like any other tree with a light brown color; the inside, however, is a gorgeous, dark brown-black color – a color you have seen if you’ve ever seen a clarinet, as clarinets, along with other western instruments, are made out of the dark heartwood of the mpingo tree. I had never stopped to think about why wooden clarinets have such a dark color instead of what one typically thinks of as a wood color. I was astonished by the hidden beauty of this tree and what secrets lay inside.Duo Mpingo is somewhat programmatic in that it loosely chronicles the imagined life of a mpingo tree. There is a short section close to the middle of the piece (the inner part of the piece, if you will) that is meant to evoke the beautiful, mysterious, endangered dark heartwood of the mpingo tree. The direction to the performers for this section is solemn, prayer-like, reverential, which is how I feel we should look at every tree – not as something in our way that needs to be cut down, but with reverence for the amazing living things they are.Duo Mpingo was commissioned and premiered by Daraja Music Initiative and Clarinets for Conservation to promote a sustainable planet. This recording is by members of Terminus Ensemble, Marcus Moore and Lauren Murphy. To hear the entire piece, please visit www.sarahhersh.com.The composer is a member of ASCAP and may be reached at www.sarahhersh.com or sarahhershcomposer@gmail.com.

Published by Javier Soria Laso (A0.1335292). Queen's famous Bicycle Race written by Freddie Mercury for their album Jazz (1978) receives a lively treatment for an ensemble of 4 cellos, piano & drums in this lively chart that keeps the essence of the original tune [including the drum part as in the original recording with some variation (the ring bells can be substituted for wind chimes or a similar instrument)] while adding some fresh and unexpected touches including the interaction between the piano & the cellos. If you're wanting something that you'd like to feature in your concert either in the beginning or the end, this is your chart! About Digital DownloadsDigital Downloads are downloadable sheet music files that can be viewed directly on your computer, tablet or mobile device. Etude in C, Le Couppey-Nolte

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.987083 Composed by Eric Paul Nolte …

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.987083 Composed by Eric Paul Nolte and Felix Le Couppey. Arranged by Eric Paul Nolte. Contemporary,Instructional. Score. 5 pages. Eric Paul Nolte #1954995. Published by Eric Paul Nolte (A0.987083). This piece is a free adaptation and a complete reworking of a study by Felix Le Couppey (1811-1887), from his L'Agilité, Opus 20, 25 Progressive Studies for Mechanism and Light Touch. In its original form, this study was a charming little piece of musical fluff. But getting it up to speed reduced me to tears! It also gave me an epiphany of immense power that transformed my technique. Suddenly I could play faster than I had ever thought possible, and I could do so with a thrilling ease! This epiphany emerged from the spluttering frustration I felt over my inability to play these sixteenth notes at Le Couppey's metronome marking of 144. It dawned on me that I couldn’t play fast enough because I was tripping over my own fingers when I used the overly articulated technique of moving the fingers by the lift, throw, relax method. This superfluous motion creates an impenetrable barrier, a speed wall, as does playing legato scales by passing the thumb under the palm, when shifting hand position up and down the keyboard. So I found another way-which I’ve since learned was known to every pianist who ever achieved prodigious speed. Here’s how to bring this piece up to speed with ease: Be sure to practice this piece with each hand alone. For each group of sixteenth notes, gently place the four fingers down simultaneously, to get the feel. Think of your arm, from elbow to fingertips, as something like a kitchen utensil, such as a spatula. Moving your right arm as a unit, place your finger tips down into the key bed, depressing all four notes at once, as a block chord. Make sure that all the fingers remain stiff (not rigid with tension, but just stiff enough to resist collapsing upwards.) Slowly lift and then play each group by placing all the fingers down with a rotation of your forearm, calm and relaxed, with the fingers rolling through the notes at the speed of a brief snare drum roll: Rrrrip! To rip through this group of notes like this takes no more effort than to place those four fingers down, calmly, all at once! Then, with a quick shift up or down the keyboard to get into position for the next group, that’s the whole trick for playing such passages with astonishing speed and ease! It takes time and effort to get the knack here, but the result can be transformative and thrilling! As for my adaptation of this study, I believe it offers intermediate advanced players the chance to enjoy a great leap in technique like the one I experienced, and also offers a piece of music that one might not blush to play outside the practice room-perhaps bringing it at least into the living room for a soirée, if not into the concert hall. To make this adaptation, I wrote a grumbly bass line with lungs, and nice fat chords to flesh out most of the skinny little triads that accompany the original study’s fast passages. I added a brooding, chromatic introduction that features as a melody the accompanimental figure of a broken triad that Le Couppey wrote a few times on the second page, in various inversions. I employed this broken chord figure several more times in both hands, and also added a little coda, sprinkled with sparkle. Playing time is about 1 minute and 30 seconds.
