Essentially a 'long form' round, it takes three elements of Meghan Trainor's 'Dear Future Husband' and layers them up. As with singing any round, it provides great brain training and stretch for singers to concentrate and focus on their part and not be swayed by the multiple rhythms and notes moving around their part. The arrangement provides a structure but is designed to be explored and experimented with to see what works, ideal to build confidence for both group leader and singers trying something new together. A key chart showing four different keys has been provided with note range and starting notes should an alternative key be more suitable for your vocal group. Suggest using off-beat finger clicks or a metronome beat to keep time. Backing tracks may be available in future. Suggested structure to try:Start with a group on Voice 1 (alternatively this can be the full group before split into different groups)At the repeat sign Voice 1 moves to Voice 2 and a second group start on Voice 1At the repeat sign, Voice 1 moves to Voice 2, Voice 2 moves to Voice 3 and a third group starts as Voice 1If the third group to come in sings all three parts, it will mean 5 repeats in totalAgree a sign with group and when reaching the end of the last repeat - move to the Coda to finish offMost importantly, it's something to have a little bit of fun with and freshen up warm-ups exercises.

Hope is such a powerful thing that can push us through the toughest of times. In this poem, Emily Dickinson calls hope a feathered thing. It perches in the soul and sings without stoping. The singing is at the loudest when things are at their worst. Although hope is the central theme to the poem, the harsh conditions that are described in the poem was the driving force while writing the music. Creating a sound for the chillest day and the storm that could not abash the little bird was what really inspired me to write this piece. Something that stood out for me, was the use of dashes that breaks up the poem. I used rests to create these breaks. These rests are very deliberate to show these pauses of contemplation, almost struggling for the right words to describe a complex subject such as hope. At first the rests felt like a hindrance, where it felt natural for the music to flow, but now I cannot imagine the piece without it.
