Son de la loma es una pieza compuesta por el cubano Miguel Matamoros, alrededor de 1945. Es una melodÃa muy conocida en ritmo de son, sin embargo, esta versión para cuarteto de saxofones está escrita para que se interprete en ritmo de samba. La samba es una danza brasileña de origen africano.En caso de no utilizar la percusión:- Los primeros 3 compases de la introducción deben eliminarse. Se empieza, entonces en el compás 4- El solo de percusión en el compás 91 debe ser omitido.- Letra G no se toca. De manera que, del compás 122 se pasa al compás 4.La parte percusión es opcional, puede incorporarla a los saxofones si asà lo prefiere.Son de la lomaThis piece was composed by the Cuban musician Miguel Matamoros around 1945. The tune was originally written with a Son rhythm, however, in this version for a saxophone quartet the rhythm is Samba, a Brazilian dance.The use of percussion is optional. If it is not used, the player should follow these recomendations:- The first three measures of the introduction must be eliminated to start in measure four.- The percussion solo in measure 91 must be omitted- Letter G is not played, as a result, the player must move on from measure 122 tomeasure 4.The use of percussion is optional.

La Paloma is a popular Spanish song that has been produced and reinterpreted in diverse cultures, settings, arrangements, and recordings over the last 140 years. The song was composed and written by the Spanish composer from the Basque region Sebastián Iradier (later Yradier) after he visited Cuba in 1861. Iradier may have composed La Paloma around 1863, just two years before he died in Spain in obscurity, never to learn how popular his song would become. La Paloma belongs to a genre of songs called Habaneras, a musical style developed in 19th-century Spain that is still today very much present in the form of folk songs and formal compositions, particularly in the Northern Basque Region and East Coast (Catalonia and Valencia) regions of the country. Like all Habaneras, its characteristic and distinct rhythm reflects the fusion of the local Cuban songs that the Spanish sailors of the time brought back with them from their travels to the island, with the rhythm structure of the flamenco tanguillo gaditano (original from Cádiz, Andalusia). Very quickly La Paloma became popular outside of Spain, particularly in Mexico, and soon spread around the world. In many places, including Afghanistan, Hawaii, the Philippines, Germany, Romania, Zanzibar, and Goa it gained the status of a quasi-folk song. Over the years the popularity of La Paloma has surged and receded periodically, but never subsided. It may be considered one of the first universal popular hits and has appealed to artists of diverse musical backgrounds.[1] There are more than one thousand versions of this song, and that together with Yesterday by the Beatles, is one of the most recorded songs in the history of music. The song was composed and written by the Spanish composer from the Basque region Sebastián Iradier (later Yradier) after he visited Cuba in 1861. Iradier may have composed La Paloma around 1863, just two years before he died in Spain in obscurity, never to learn how popular his song would become. La Paloma belongs to a genre of songs called Habaneras, a musical style developed in 19th-century Spain that is still today very much present in the form of folk songs and formal compositions, particularly in the Northern Basque Region and East Coast (Catalonia and Valencia) regions of the country. Like all Habaneras, its characteristic and distinct rhythm reflects the fusion of the local Cuban songs that the Spanish sailors of the time brought back with them from their travels to the island, with the rhythm structure of the flamenco tanguillo gaditano (original from Cádiz, Andalusia). Very quickly La Paloma became popular outside of Spain, particularly in Mexico, and soon spread around the world. In many places, including Afghanistan, Hawaii, the Philippines, Germany, Romania, Zanzibar, and Goa it gained the status of a quasi-folk song. Over the years the popularity of La Paloma has surged and receded periodically, but never subsided. It may be considered one of the first universal popular hits and has appealed to artists of diverse musical backgrounds.[1] There are more than one thousand versions of this song, and that together with Yesterday by the Beatles, is one of the most recorded songs in the history of music. English • German.On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the German performing rights society GEMA in 2003 La Paloma von Sebastián de Yradier was chosen as the ‘song of the century’. The Spanish composer began his career as an organist and then taught singing in Madrid before moving to Paris. In 1857 he travelled to the Caribbean, developing an interest in the Habañera form and Creole music. Drawing inspiration from this experience he composed numerous pieces with Spanish influence which were published individually by Schott in 1870 in the series Fleurs d’Espagne, 2me collection. Of these, only No. 14 has survived: The Dove (in Spanish La Paloma) is possibly the most often played, arranged and recorded piece of all time. Otto Langey added a pretty introduction to his arrangement for violin (1890). It is a popular piece for domestic music-making. More recent recordings featuring Hans Albers, Freddy Quinn, Elvis Presley and many others, have made this Spanish serenade with its typical Habañera accompaniment famous, and it can readily be played at home, too. Edition based on plate no. 02567, first published in 1890 as plate no. 24490.
