Piano,Voice Duet Baritone Horn TC,Piano,Soprano voice - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1101414 Composed by Brett L. Wery. Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,Multicultural,World. 52 pages. Sonata Grendel Publishing #704802. Published by Sonata Grendel Publishing (A0.1101414). I. Hammering on Rocks text by Joseph Ross II. Normal text by Reginald Harris III. My Body Holds Stones text by Laura Tohe IV. The Museum of Stones text by Carolyn Forché. Quarry Songs were written as a project initiated by my long-time friend and colleague, Mark Evans. Mark and I have spent hundreds of hours rehearsing and performing together so when he asked me to participate in a project to create a song cycle as part of a residency at the Avaloch Farm Music Institute in New Hampshire, I said yes immediately. Joining us were former students, now colleagues, Areli Mendoza-Pannone (soprano) and Robert Frazier (baritone). During our residency at Avaloch, the trio and I organized Zoom meetings with the poets and work-shopped many sections of the songs. I am immensely grateful for the contributions Mark, Areli, and Bobby made to this piece. I am especially indebted to the four amazing poets for their powerful, inspiring poems. These are works of courage, honesty, and craftsmanship and I’m humbled by the writer’s trust and generosity as I attempt to add a dimension to their work that is worthy of the source. The poems represent varied American perspectives of the artifacts of human existence and the trajectory of our culture(s), the human capacity to grow numb to suffering, the weight and cost of identity—self imposed and projected—on ourselves, our nation, and our children. Most importantly the poems witness our power to change the world through art. These poems recall the courage of Nelson Mandela, the paralysis that comes with the twenty year old war in Afghanistan, the lasting wounds of inflicted upon children in boarding schools designed to eradicate native cultures, and the markers of war and suffering that call as much for hope as for remorse. I chose poets whose voices represent not only suppressed perspectives but also the voices of Americans born of privilege, willing to use the power of art to focus the readers’ minds on the rough truths of our shared history as Americans.

Published by Opus 3 Music (A0.739502). 'Jack's Journey'(A new Musical by Adeline Dinsmore and David Catherwood)Piano and vocal score (contains 7 songs plus overture and incidental music) plus Script - $9.50Duration c.40 minutesIdeal for schools, youth groups or adult dramatic/musical companies.Requirements - Narrator, Chorus, (unison/2part) Soloists, Actors, Piano accompanimentOptional - Dancers, orchestral parts for Flute, Clarinet. Trumpet, Horn, Strings, Percussion and Bass/guitar About the Musical A great story about one of the 20th century’s greatest storytellers. Carefully researched, yet full of fun, this entertaining musical tells the story of the early part of CS Lewis' life from the time of his mother's death in 1908 until his arrival as a student at Oxford in 1916. (Throughout his life CS Lewis was always known as Jack) This new work was premiered at the end of 2019 at the annual CS Lewis Festival held in Ireland. (CS Lewis’ birthplace) It proved to be a great success and was very enthusiastically received. Synopsis Jack’s Journey is a whimsical re-imagining of the childhood journeys of CS Lewis - each of the seven songs representing a stop along the way to his eventual career as the writer of the Narnia Chronicles. The story is told through music relating his memories and significant episodes from his schooldays up to his entry into Oxford. Living almost entirely in his imagination as a small boy, the seeds of the world of Narnia are already beginning to grow in his writing and drawings. Little Lea, his childhood home, provides the setting for the early scenes. Following the death of his mother the young Jack has his first experience of school and England. He endures with fortitude the harsh regime of boarding school and begins to recognise the value of friendship, mutual support and the courage that children can show in adversity. He returns to Ireland and to Campbell College – a much more positive experience. Illness brings his attendance at Campbell to an end. Returning to Little Lea, Jack imagines the world of fairies and dwarves, a world beyond our own. He returns to school in England and comes under the influence of a variety of teachers. Expelled from Malvern, Jack next falls under the influence of his great mentor, Professor Kirkpatrick – the model for the Professor of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Jack’s Journey concludes with the anticipated arrival of a great hero, the hero of the first of the Narnian Chronicles, Aslan, the lion. ‘Jack’s Journey’ gives opportunity for young actors, (supported if desired by adults, taking the parts of the grown-ups.) There are short dramatic scenes, plenty of chorus work, opportunity for choreography and many solo spots for vocalists in the songs which are milestones in the story. List of Songs (the sample pages and mp3 file gives a chance to see and hear the first page of most of the songs) 1 Soft through the window 2 Kingdom of Mourne 3 Little Lea 4 Campbell Days - Boy to the left, Boy to the right 5 The Dandy's song 6 The Scholar's song 7 Strength and honour As will be evident from the above, there is plenty of flexibility regarding the scale of the performance. ‘Jack’s Journey’ may be staged using relatively modest outlay – for example, the premiere did not have a set because the venue for the performance was an actual railway station! The piece certainly allows for imaginative approaches to design and staging. In terms of the additional challenges presented by 2020 the length of the musical at 40 minutes helps in delivering a shorter theatrical experience. Also, the fully digital download of all performing materials allows for distribution via email Indeed the whole show could be effectively recorded and presented online as well as in person.

Too Much For Our Thirstby Alexander BurdissArranged for Trombone and PianoDedicated to Courtney CarmackPerformance Time: approx. 7:00This is an adaptation for trombone of a piece originally written for tuba. The Eyes of the Poor from Paris SpleenWritten by Charles Baudelaire, Translated by Arthur Symons Ah! you want to know why I hate you to-day. It will probably be less easy for you to understand than for me to explain it to you; for you are, I think, the most perfect example of feminine impenetrability that could possibly be found. We had spent a long day together, and it had seemed to me short. We had promised one another that we would think the same thoughts and that our two souls should become one soul; a dream which is not original, after all, except that, dreamed by all men, it has been realised by none. In the evening you were a little tired, and you sat down outside a new café at the corner of a new boulevard, still littered with plaster and already displaying proudly its unfinished splendours. The café glittered. The very gas put on all the fervency of a fresh start, and lighted up with its full force the blinding whiteness of the walls, the dazzling sheets of glass in the mirrors, the gilt of cornices and mouldings, the chubby-cheeked pages straining back from hounds in leash, the ladies laughing at the falcons on their wrists, the nymphs and goddesses carrying fruits and pies and game on their heads, the Hebes and Ganymedes holding out at arm's-length little jars of syrups or parti-coloured obelisks of ices; the whole of history and of mythology brought together to make a paradise for gluttons. Exactly opposite to us, in the roadway, stood a man of about forty years of age, with a weary face and a greyish beard, holding a little boy by one hand and carrying on the other arm a little fellow too weak to walk. He was taking the nurse-maid's place, and had brought his children out for a walk in the evening. All were in rags. The three faces were extraordinarily serious, and the six eyes stared fixedly at the new café with an equal admiration, differentiated in each according to age. The father's eyes said: How beautiful it is! how beautiful it is! One would think that all the gold of the poor world had found its way to these walls. The boy's eyes said: How beautiful it is! how beautiful it is! But that is a house which only people who are not like us can enter. As for the little one's eyes, they were too fascinated to express anything but stupid and utter joy. Song-writers say that pleasure ennobles the soul and softens the heart. The song was right that evening, so far as I was concerned. Not only was I touched by this family of eyes, but I felt rather ashamed of our glasses and decanters, so much too much for our thirst. I turned to look at you, dear love, that I might read my own thought in you; I gazed deep into your eyes, so beautiful and so strangely sweet, your green eyes that are the home of caprice and under the sovereignty of the Moon; and you said to me: Those people are insupportable to me with their staring saucer- eyes! Couldn't you tell the head waiter to send them away? So hard is it to understand one another, dearest, and so incommunicable is thought, even between people who are in love!

Folk Songs for 13-note Bells and Boomwhackers® (with Color Coded Notes), VOL. 1

(+)
Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Sharon Wilson. Repertoire, Classroom, Folk, Children's Music, Old-time. Score, Set of Parts. 176 pages. Published by Sharon Wilson
This sheet music collection of 20 folk songs is notated for 13-note (one octave, C to C chromatic scale) instruments with Handbells on one staff and Boomwhackers® on a second staff creating an instrumental ensemble (requires one set of each instrument). Handbells play the melody while the Boomwhackers® keep a steady beat with three-note chords. For each song, there is a combined score with both parts on a grand staff plus a separate 1-staff score for each individual part. A note and chord reference chart is also provided for each song.<br> <br> The songs in this digital book are ordered by difficulty with the easiest songs presented first. The songs progressively incorporate more challenging rhythms, some requiring rapid chord changes. Many of the songs include two verses. The first verse is “easy” with fewer notes. The second verse is “intermediate” and expands the melody by adding more notes (sometimes including harmony notes). If you want to learn (practice) only the “easy” verse, an optional ending is provided or it can be skipped to perform the two verses together.<br> <br> Though this sheet music is notated for Handbells and Boomwhackers®, these arrangements are playable by any 13-note, C to C chromatic scale (one octave) instrument such as a xylophone or glockenspiel. The melody could also be played by a recorder.<br> <br> This set of scores uses colored noteheads corresponding to the Boomwhackers® color scheme. If you have a set of bells or tubes with a different color scheme, “Chroma-Notes Stick Ons” can be purchased and applied so the instruments match the Boomwhackers® color scheme. This set of scores is also available (separate purchase) in black and white which will print clearer if you do not have access to a color printer.<br> <br> Only filled noteheads (quarter and eighth notes) are used so the notes are full color and easier to see (this does not indicate the bells need to be silenced immediately before the next beat). Also, only quarter and eighth rests are used to help visualize the number of beats per measure. Lyrics and chord names are provided as well to aid in the learning and teaching of this song.<br> <br> The number of ringers and whackers needed will vary depending on the skill level of the participants. For more advanced players, each person could be assigned two or three notes. For beginners, it is best to assign one or two notes to each person. Instrument assignment suggestions are provided for each song.<br> <br> Other suggestions and uses:<br> * have both parts played by bells or both parts played using only Boomwhackers® <br> * form a choir using multiple sets of bells and/or Boomwhackers® (this would amplify the sound and allow more people to participate)<br> * use as part of the music education for children at school, home, or church<br> * these colorful, inexpensive instruments can be enjoyed by all ages and add a fun, unique element to activities and programs: senior centers, family reunions, church retreats, home school groups, children’s ministries<br> <br> <br> Each of the 20 arrangements in this collection is also available separately with accompanying preview pages and audio samples.<br> <br> Titles included in this collection:<br> Alphabet Song<br> Be Kind to Your Loved Ones<br> B-I-N-G-O<br> Doo-dah-day!<br> Good Morning, Merry Sunshine<br> He’s Got the Whole World In His Hands<br> Hickory Dickory Dock<br> Hokey Pokey<br> Hot Cross Buns<br> I Love the Mountains<br> Itsy Bitsy Spider<br> Little Robin Red-breast<br> Old MacDonald<br> On Top of Old Smokey<br> Rain, Rain, Go Away<br> Row, Row, Row Your Boat<br> Simple Gifts<br> Skip to My Lou<br> Take Me Out to the Ball Game<br> The Water Is Wide<br> <br> Boomwhackers® is a registered trademark of Rhythm Band Instruments, LLC, Fort Worth, TX. Choral Choir (SSA) - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1007139 Composed by Charles McCreery. 20th Century,Children,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Octavo. 19 pages. St Maur Music #4853779. Published by St Maur Music (A0.1007139). This song is one of a series of ‘Fourteen Tolkien Songs’. A comment on the collection by an Oxford piano teacher: ‘For those who only know Tolkien via the recent blood-and-thunder films, this song-cycle by Charles McCreery will give a very different angle on the classic saga. Here we find a gentle and ethereal world, where rhythms lilt and words echo. The twelve songs, suitable for choir, evoke a dreamy, water-colour landscape with no harsh sounds, the tunes are singable and in a traditional style that Tolkien would surely have approved. Dr Julia Gasper, LGSM A general comment on Charles McCreery’s music by a violinist and composer in the USA: ‘Charles McCreery’s beautifully melodic, intricately textured compositions are infused with classical, romantic and folk idioms.’ Samantha Gillogly ‘Galadriel’s Song’ is appropriate for either women’s or children’s voices, and is potentially of interest to anyone who is familiar with the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. The three vocal parts and the piano accompaniment can each be printed out separately at the end of the full score. The MP3 which plays from this page is of an orchestral version of the song, which can be heard on the stmaurmusic channel on YouTube. On the front cover of Galadriel’s Song is a photograph of leaves in Wytham Woods, Oxford, and at the end of the score is a photograph of the sea off Treyarnon Bay, Cornwall . Voice, recorder and percussion - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q47192 Minor: Drone Bass-Triads. Arranged by Margaret Murray. This edition: score for voice and/or instruments. Songs - Orff Schulwerk - pieces. Orff-Schulwerk. Downloadable, Vocal and performing score. Op. 4. Schott Music - Digital #Q47192. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q47192). English.Carl Orff devoted much of his life to the development of a philosophy of Music for Children, based on his belief that music is the natural outcome of speech, rhythm and movement. His ideas and pioneering work have had a major influence on music and dance education throughout the world and today that work continues under the guidance of leading teachers and educators in many countries. The five basic German volumes of Music for Children by Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman were published between 1950 and 1954. Editions have since been published in Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Ghana, Great Britain (including a special Welsh edition), Greece, Italy, Japan, Korea, Latin-America, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan and the USA. In 1952 the first edition in translation appeared an English language adaptation by Doreen Hall and Arnold Walter for their Canadian and American students. A few years later, Margaret Murray independently developed a version (1957-1966), essentially to fulfil the needs of United Kingdom teachers. Inevitably the considerable growth of Orff-Schulwerk in the United States led to the publication of the American Edition (1977) to satisfy the requirements of a different educational system and national heritage. Orff-Schulwerk: Music for Children has proved itself to be a stimulating source of material for music teaching. Carl Orff's fundamental educational ideas have revitalized music education in nursery schools, at all levels of primary and secondary education and in special music schools, based on the concepts that: - music, dance and language are inter-related and animated through rhythm. - when children discover, invent, improvise and compose, their experience of music is intensified. These creative activities are complementary to those of interpreting and listening to music. - all who take part are encouraged to contribute, not only vocally but also instrumentally. - the Orff approach to music education is many sided; it is concerned with practical music-making, it provides fundamental experiences and it lays the foundation for a comprehensive musical training. - movement games and activities for body awareness in space, time and flow, lead to movement improvisation and dance forms. - music and dance have been notated in many different ways in history. Various ways of writing down sounds and music, as well as playing from and interpreting different kinds of sources are being explored. Today, countless teachers and institutions are using these ideas. More and more teachers look for ways of involving their students in active music making. In particular, they seek to challenge their pupils' creativity by the use of music, dance and speech - as media of human expression - as a foundation of all education. A prerequisite for work in Orff-Schulwerk is the artistic and pedagogical training of teachers. The Orff Institute was founded in 1961 as a Department of the 'Mozarteum', in Salzburg, Austria. Training offered includes a four-year diploma course, a two-year post-graduate course, and a one-year-course in English. At the opening of the Orff Institute in Salzburg in 1963, Carl Orff ended his speech with a quotation from Schiller: 'I have done my part, now do yours.' That challenge has been taken up by teachers worldwide. Murray Edition English adaption, with additional material, by Margaret Murray. Besed on, and containing all the rhythmic and instrumental material from the main five volumes of the original German edition. Contents of this fourth volume: Songs and pieces using the full range of the aeolian, dorian and phrygian modes. Accompaniements are founded on drone bass with the later addition of simple chords.

Small Ensemble Flute,Harp,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797341 Arranged by Beth Kolle. Concert,Folk,World. Score and parts. 40 pages. Afghan Press Music for the Harp #4808447. Published by Afghan Press Music for the Harp (A0.797341). Songs for the Midnight Sun comprises fifteen Nordic folk melodies, dance tunes, songs and ballads that have captured the arranger's imagination over the years. For Beth Kolle, Scandinavian music is the expression of the unparalleled beauty of the Nordic countries. The exotically different modes and harmonies evoke wild nature, and unseen beings of the ancient folk beliefs. This is music meant to be sung, danced to, or crooned to sleepy children, preferably in an age-old log cabin redolent of sweet, mellow resin and many years of comforting fires. As with all her other books, these arrangements are meant to be adjusted to your own playing style. Use them as a stepping-off point for making the arrangement your own, or use some of my ideas in a different song. Consider yourself warned: many Scandinavian tunes are addictive and tend to roll around in your head. The cure for that, of course, is to find another tune to replace the one in your head. And so on....good luck with that.Contains: Song from Venjan, Traditional Song, Dalarna, Sweden, The Dream, Göran ‘Freddy’ Fredriksson, Sweden (also has flute/fiddle part), Polska from Hälleforsnäs, Traditional Polska, Sweden, Ball Polska, Traditional Polska, Sweden, Funk Fars Polska, Traditional Polska, Rättvik, Sweden, Marjankukka (Berry Flower), Lauri Keskinen, Finland (Flute or Fiddle part included), Springtime Waltz, Traditional Waltz, Sweden (Flute or Fiddle included), Walking Tune (Gånglåt efter Hamare), Traditional Gånglåt, Sweden, The Lost Sheep, Traditional Melody, Telemark, Norway, Waltz from Denmark, Traditional Waltz, Denmark, Amanda, Roger Tallroth, Sweden ,Waltz from Folldal, Traditional Waltz, Norway (Flute or Fiddle part included), Bridal March from Äppelbo, Traditional Wedding March, Sweden, Griffenfeldt, Traditional Reinlender, Norway, La Folia, Traditional Polska, Sweden (Flute or Fiddle part included)

Voice, recorder and percussion - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q47388 Major: Drone Bass-Triads. Arranged by Margaret Murray. This edition: score for voice and/or instruments. Songs - Orff Schulwerk - pieces. Orff-Schulwerk. Downloadable, Vocal and performing score. Op. 2. Schott Music - Digital #Q47388. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q47388). Contents of this second volume: Songs and pieces using the full major scale. Accompaniments are founded on drone bass with the later addition of simple chords.

Piano Solo, Easy Piano - Early Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Henry Clay Work. Arranged by Dennis Ruello. Repertoire, General Instructional, Folk, Children's Music, Americana. Solo Part. 2 pages. Published by Chicory Music
"2018 Keyboard Contest Entry" "My Grandfather's Clock" was often played in Britain on Children's Favourites and during that period was recorded by the Radio Revellers. In the United States, a version, without the last stanza of lyrics, was on an extended-play 45 rpm record on the Peter Pan label (the other song on that side was The Syncopated Clock, and the flip side had The Arkansas Traveler and Red River Valley). Johnny Cash covered the song on his 1959 album Songs of Our Soil. Evelyn Knight recorded the song for Decca Records. Also in 1959, it was included on The Four Lads' album, Swing Along. Other versions became popular in other countries; it is well known to many generations in Japan, with a cover by singer Ken Hirai becoming massively popular in 2002. This easy piano piece is perfect for piano recitals and school performances. Performance Time Approx. 1 minute 30 seconds.
