Alto Saxophone,Piano - Level 3 - SKU: A0.533506 Composed by Ali Ben Sou Alle. Concert,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 13 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3002369. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533506). Jenny L'Ouvrière is a popular romance from 1845 with music by Étienne Arnaud and words by Emile Barateau. The song speaks of an hardworking weaver who is poor, but also courageous and good. The pastorale-like theme is also presented in a more varied form. One of the most enigmatic figures in the history of the Saxophone, Ali Ben Sou Alle (Charles-Valentin Soualle) was born in 1820 in Arras, France. After receiving his first prize in Clarinet at the Paris Conservatory in 1844. he served as the director of music of The French Marine Band in Senegal, and then was named first clarinet solo at the Opéra-Comique in Paris. However, after the Revolution of 1848, Soualle was forced to flee France to England where he settled in London, playing in the Orchestra of the Queen's Theatre. His songs and piano pieces were published in London. While in London, Soualle met another exiled French musician, Louis Antoine Jullien, who conducted a light music series in London. Jullien encouraged Soualle to take up the saxophone, and after modifying the instrument by adding a single octave mechanism (the modern system used today) and keys for the lower register, Soualle became known as a virtuoso and began touring performing solo recitals (or mono-concerts, as they were called at the time) calling his modified saxophone the «turcophone ». He performed in all the European capitals and then traveled to Australia, New Zealand, Manilla, Java, through China and then to India where he finally settled in Mysore, becoming the director of the Royal Music for the Maharadjah. It was during this period that heconverted to Islam and changed his nmae to Ali ben Sou Alle (or Ali, son of Soualle). He subsequently travaled to Ile Maurice, to French Polynesia, the Cap of Natal and the Cap of Good Hope. All of these voyages were subjects of musical works which Soualle entitled Souvenirs de... and may perhaps have been part of a collection known as The Royal Album which was presented to the Prince of Wales after a royal concert. Soualle returned to Mysore in 1858 and was almost killed in the Indian Revolution. Around 1860, Soualle returned to France for health reasons and began publishing his own music. OnMarch 27 1865, he performed a command performance for the Emperor Napoleon III at the Tuileries Palace in the presence of the entire Imperial Family. After 1865, nothing more is known about him.

Piano,Trombone - Level 1 - SKU: A0.548514 Composed by Wade. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Christian,Christmas. Score and part. 4 pages. Jmsgu3 #3388129. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548514). O Come All Ye Faithful arranged with new harmony for the final verse. Score: 3 pages, part: 1 pageO Come, All Ye Faithful O Come, All Ye Faithful is an English translation of the Latin Christmas carol Adeste Fideles. No one knows exactly who wrote it. One theory holds that King John IV of Portugal (1604–1656) wrote it. Another theory says John F. Wade or John Reading wrote it. Nowadays, we usually attribute it to John Wade. Seems like Stonyhurst College in Lancashire owns the oldest manuscript. It is from the year 1751. Lyrics Frederick Oakeley, a Catholic priest in 1841 wrote the English translation. This translation is probably the most common in the English-speaking states. To begin with, the hymn had only four verses. Later, the verses grew to eight. Music directors often cut various verses because otherwise, the song goes too long. Some believe that St. Bonaventure wrote the first Latin lyrics. Others hold that King John IV of Portugal is responsible. Yet even others think the Cistercian monks wrote them. King John IV His subjects called King John IV of Portugal The Musician King. He became king in 1640. In addition to performing the duties of a king, he composed and wrote as a music journalist. King John built a very large music library. Unfortunately, the massive earthquake of Lisbon ruined the library in 1755. In addition to building his library, the king started a Music School that produced many accomplished musicians. The king also worked diligently to get instrumental music approved by the Vatican for use in his churches. Aside from his authorship of Adeste Fideles, he is famous for another popular choral setting of the Crux Fidelis, a prevalent Lenten hymn. Performance in Context Verses are sometimes left out because all eight verses would take too long to perform. More to the point though, some of the verses may be unsuitable for whatever of the church calendar they are intended. The eighth verse deals with the Epiphany, so it makes sense to sing this on Epiphany Sunday, but not other Sundays. Similarly, other verses are used according to whether the event is Midnight Mass or regular daytime Mass. Register for free lifetime updates and revisions at www.jamesguthrie.com

Choral Choir (SSA) - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1032349 Composed by Charlotte Botha. Contemporary,Sacred,Standards. Octavo. 9 pages. Charlotte Botha #4762601. Published by Charlotte Botha (A0.1032349). Tale van Liefde (Languages of Love) was inspired by the Afrikaans hymn Praat ek mense, eng'le tale based on the text from 1 Corinthians 13. The piano accompaniment subtly quotes the hymn melody, which you might recognise as the tune from Beethoven's Ode to Joy. The piece carries a strong message: unless our words carry love for those who live and speak differently from us, they will fall on silent ears. After a short 2-part introduction, the melody is presented in unison, and then in 3-part canon, imitating crowds speaking to one another. Throughout, a small group underscores the harmony with a pedal chant, listing the languages in which we can speak love. The work is best suited for Afrikaans-speakers. .

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - SKU: A0.955732 Composed by Phil Thrift. Pop. Octavo. 19 pages. Phil Thrift #5805777. Published by Phil Thrift (A0.955732). Are you looking for a new song to celebrate someone’s birthday? If so, then Just Another Birthday Song – SATB Edition might well be what you’re looking for. Simple melody, simple harmonies, simple ideas, not too long and at times a mildly reflective take on the birthday theme. However, the text is never too serious – it’s someone’s birthday, after all! Plenty of unison singing and straightforward 4-part writing mean that this piece will not be difficult for any choir, can be easily slipped into any program. The spaces between the lines of text in the Bridge and the Outro leave you scope for adding a solo instrument or perhaps for someone to speak a few congratulatory words while the other choir members continue the song in the background. Indeed, measures 49-60 could even be repeated quietly to accompany a solo instrument or someone speaking. The possibilities for making this song more individual are endless! The well-known tunes will continue to feature at many birthday events, but Just Another Birthday Song – SATB Edition gives you the chance to present a refreshing, different and flexible musical number when honoring someone’s birthday.Chord symbols are included for use with a guitar instead of or in addition to piano.Choir parts without piano part are included. Also available separately:Solo voice version (with optional 2-part harmony) (A0.955730 or 1051903)Solo voice swing version for those who prefer a slightly jazzier birthday! Piano Solo - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1323881 By Michael Buble. By Haven Gillespie and John Frederick Coots. Arranged by Thomas Gunther. Blues,Christmas,Jazz. Score. 5 pages. Thomas Gunther Music Productions #912057. Published by Thomas Gunther Music Productions (A0.1323881). Solo Piano Arrangement By Thomas GuntherSanta Claus Is Coming To Town is another one of my favorite Christmas songs. For some reason I love playing it in a bluesy style, with some jazz voicings. The bridge is more in stride piano style.About The ArrangementThe arrangement includes different stylistic elements found in more traditional popular piano music. It definitely has a bluesy vibe, but also shows elements of jazz and stride piano. When it comes to the form I extended it by adding an intro that comes back in-between sections in form of an interlude. There is also an outro. About The Sheet MusicThe sheet music is basically a transcription of my recording. It contains jazz chord symbols and plentiful of articulations as well as some dynamic markings. My Arranging WorkflowI have different approaches for creating solo piano arrangements of songs. The one I took here is as follows. First I come up with different ideas, try them out, and after a while settle on those I like best. Once I practiced and internalized those ideas I press record and hope for the best. Before the final version is done, I record myself many times over. This gives me the opportunity to improve upon each version until I have one that I feel comfortable with.Recommendations For Learning The SongI recommend that you first listen to my performance while reading along in the sheet music. This way you get a better understanding about the phrasing and the rhythmic feel. You may want to spend a little time just vamping a few bars to get into the groove. When that feels good move on to different sections. The bridge is different in feel because it is based on stride piano rather than blues. Stride piano features big jumps in the left hand and big intervals between the outer notes (up to a 10th). Should you have difficulty in playing those big intervals (smaller hands will make this hard) you may roll the notes and use the sustain pedal. Is This Arrangement For You?This solo piano arrangement is for every pianist who would like to try playing Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town in a more bluesy-jazzy style. Dependent on what your specialty is musically speaking, you made benefit from it in different ways. Here are some examples.Classical PianistsIf you are a classical pianist who rarely listens to jazz and blues music, this arrangement might be a great way to dip your feed into more contemporary genres and styles like blues and jazz. This said, it might be quite challenging. Not from a technical point of view, but from a musical point of view. For example, swung eighth notes and accents and phrasing in blues and jazz are somewhat contrary to classical music. It's gonna be a great learning experience for sure!Jazz PianistsShould you be a jazz musician or blues musician, you may not necessarily want to play the arrangement as written note for note. Instead, you might just fall in love with some of my ideas and create your own arrangement based on those. This goes especially for the solo section. You can play my solo or use it as inspiration for your own solo. Of course experiences blues and jazz musicians will prefer to make up their own solo.I truly hope you have fun playing this arrangement! Yes.

The spaces between the lines of text in the Bridge and the Outro leave you scope for adding a solo instrument or perhaps speaking a few congratulatory words while others continue the song in the background. Indeed, measures 49-60 could even be repeated quietly to accompany a solo instrument or someone speaking. The possibilities for making this song more individual are endless! The well-known tunes will continue to feature at many birthday events, but Just Another Birthday Song – Swing Edition gives you the chance to present a refreshing, different and flexible musical number when honoring someone’s birthday.Available separately:Sheet music for solo voice and piano (swing version)

Drum Set,Electric Bass Guitar,Piano Accompaniment,Synthesizer - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1105114 By David Kai. By David Kai. Arranged by David Kai. Christian,Contemporary,Jazz,Rock. Full Performance. Duration 199. David Kai #708361. Published by David Kai (A0.1105114). The title for this song came from a plaque that I saw in a Christian book store. Jesus’ teachings about prayer from Matthew 7 or Luke 11 were also an inspiration. This song was first recorded by the Sellwoods gospel group. Seven Days Without Prayer words and music by David Kai ©1980 It’s a world where we depend on communication Through the wires and through the air information flows It’s an age where thoughts and words can cross the ocean It’s a shrinking world, but the space between us grows Though we talk to one another, there’s something missing We still need to speak from the soul, not just the mind We still need the oldest form of communication It’s available for free at any time The lines are open, why not send in a call? The Lord is waiting, just to hear from you all So just take some time for praying, God would love to hear you speak You know seven days without prayer makes one weak If a child should ask its father for bread and fishes Would that child receive a stone or a snake in its place? No, and if even earthly fathers will bless their children Won’t the heavenly Father bless and give you grace? So if you knock upon the door it will be opened If you speak unto the Lord you will be heard Look to Jesus, you will not be disappointed You will find he’s always faithful to his word The lines are open, why not send in a call? The Lord is waiting, just to hear from you all So just take some time for praying, God would love to hear you speak You know seven days without prayer makes one weak The lines are open, why not send in a call? The Lord is waiting, just to hear from you all So just take some time for praying, God would love to hear you speak You know seven days without prayer makes one weak Makes one weak.

Alto Saxophone,Piano - Level 1 - SKU: A0.548508 Composed by Wade. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Christian,Christmas. Score and part. 4 pages. Jmsgu3 #3388099. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548508). O Come All Ye Faithful arranged with new harmony for the final verse. Score: 3 pages. Part: 1 pageO Come, All Ye Faithful O Come, All Ye Faithful is an English translation of the Latin Christmas carol Adeste Fideles. No one knows exactly who wrote it, but one theory is that it was originally composed by King John IV of Portugal (1604–1656) and revised by John F. Wade and John Reading. Nowadays, we usually attribute it to John Wade. The oldest manuscript from 1751, is owned by Stonyhurst College in Lancashire. Lyrics The English translation O Come, All Ye Faithful was certainly written by Frederick Oakeley, a Catholic priest in 1841. This translation is the most common in English speaking states. To begin with, the hymn had only four verses. Later, the verses grew to eight. Often, various verses are omitted because otherwise, the song is just too long. Some believe the first Latin lyrics were written by St. Bonaventure (13th century) or King John IV of Portugal in the 17th. Though others think it was written by the Cistercian monks. King John IV King John IV of Portugal was called The Musician King. He became king in 1640. In addition to performing the duties of a king, he was also a composer and music journalist. King John built a very large music library. Unfortunately, the library was ruined in 1755 because of the massive earthquake of Lisbon. In addition to his library, the king started a Music School that produced many accomplished musicians. The king also worked diligently to get instrumental music approved by the Vatican for use in his churches. Aside from his authorship of Adeste Fideles, he is famous for another popular choral setting of the Crux Fidelis, a prevalent Lenten hymn. Performance in Context As mentioned above, verses are sometimes left out because all eight verses would take too long to perform.

Published by https://gildedmusicpress.com/ (A0.1158292). Commentary written by the composer, Dr. Daniel N. Thrower: In July 2018 I spent nine days in Barra Mansa, Brazil, which lies a couple hours west of Rio de Janeiro. The occasion of my visit was the second annual International Music Festival. The festival coordinator, Vantoil de Sousa, Jr. brought me there to be the resident trumpet professor for the week, and to premiere my three-movement Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra at the Closing Concert. As I speak Portuguese somewhat fluently, many of the 20 trumpet students of all levels became great friends. Throughout the week I kept mentioning that my next composition was going to be “Lembranças do Brasil†as yet another musical journal entry in my life’s soundtrack. Truly, I had a lifetime of extraordinary experiences in Brazil during that week, from the outstanding food to my humorous self-introduction to capivaras! Overall, that week was supremely memorable and definitely a highlight of my life. One morning in early November 2018, a 'feel-good' cool melody woke me up and wouldn’t leave. It developed in my mind and I was in a spectacular mood all day long. It felt like Bobby McFarrin’s 'Don’t Worry, Be Happy' or Pharrell Williams’ 'Happy,' though in a vastly different style from either. This was my happy song. Long hours flowed quickly through the next few days as I worked out the form and details of the music, which screamed for the promised title 'Lembranças do Brasil'! Happy memories of my beautiful week in Brazil, some of which are captured on the front cover collage, now have the perfect soundtrack in my musical journal. This version was tweaked from the original five flugelhorns, and lends itself very well (perhaps even better) in the brass quintet setting.

Duo of Air and fire is based on the four elements: fire, water, earth and air. Woodwinds/ brass instruments represent air, stringed instruments represent fire, metal percussion instruments represent water, and drums and wood percussion represent earth. This particular piece the Bb Clarinet is air and cello is fire. The two elements of air and fire under the zodiac are the best complement and companion to one another. In this piece both instruments are performing a duet with a mixture of colorful themes dancing from one instrument to the other. Astrologically speaking element Air expands Fire, and so does the Bb Clarinet to the Cello.

Seen in this way, a concert reflects a value system that pits the individual against the group and poses a struggle of I against you. Surely this vehemence could be explained in a Beethovenian era when the concepts of human rights and individual freedom were fragile ideals. However, it is a different scale of values that my piano concerto tries to reflect: the idea of cooperation, of teamwork and of an orchestra as a living organism whose organs are not superior to one another, more vital than others, but fulfil different functions, qualitatively speaking.Every soloist plays a leading role, but this does not imply either subordination to the rest or denigration or subjugation of the rest. The fact that the soloist is sometimes in the foreground does not imply a victory over the others. The very concept of victory is meaningless here.At times, the soloist will fulfil a leadership role, at others he or she will underpin from passivity what is happening in the orchestra, intentionally from the shadows, as a grey eminence. And at other times - why not - he will question what the majority is doing. It is not a rough relationship of me against you, but there is also a we.The composition and orchestration of this piano concerto was made possible by a grant from the Senator for Culture of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen.
