My completion of Schubert’s Symphony No. 8 (Unfinished) brings to life the tantalizing fragments he left for the third and fourth movements. The third movement follows closely Schubert's surviving short score, where his intricate melodic ideas are expanded with a full orchestration that honors his harmonic language. This movement, true to Schubert’s symphonic style, carries a lively yet graceful energy, interspersed with contrasting themes that reflect both joy and contemplation.The fourth movement begins with a nod to Schubert’s Rosamunde Overture, seamlessly transitioning from the grandeur of the third movement. Drawing from the overture’s distinctive opening, I introduce a bold and majestic theme that acts as a foundation for the final movement. From here, the symphony unfolds into a dramatic and richly textured conclusion. My aim in this movement was to capture Schubert’s gift for lyrical, expansive melody while incorporating the dynamic tension and rhythmic drive that characterizes his symphonic writing.Throughout the fourth movement, I intertwine moments of serene beauty with powerful orchestral climaxes, echoing the drama of the symphony’s first movement. The use of Schubert’s melodic genius is central to this completion, with soaring strings and resonant winds building to a thrilling finale. The symphony concludes with a recapitulation of the opening theme from the first movement, bringing a sense of unity and closure to the entire work.The entire symphony, now lasting 50 minutes, forms a cohesive continuation of Schubert's original vision. This completion fills the second half of the concert program, offering a balanced and dramatic conclusion to the work Schubert began but never had the chance to finish.

Symphony No.1 “KangKangSullae†Symphony No. 1 has the name “KangKangSullaeâ€, and the composer is like any other korean composer. “What does it mean to be Korean?†With the question, he is trying to compose such works. A Korean work means a work that contains Korean emotions and spirit, and the melody of “KangKangSullae†has been handed down through a long history to this day, so it can be said that it is a keepsake containing the soul of Korea. With this in mind, the theme of “KangKangSullae†was cited in the 4th movement, and it was named as a representative name for the Symphony as an element that forms the basic character of this movement.For reference, the origin of “KangKangSullae†is from women's circular dance. It was because they valued the relationship between each other. They held hands, sang and danced, and it was a representative event to commemorate the full moon and the harvest.The first movement is in 6/8 time, and two contrasting themes, masculine and feminine, appear in normal sonata form.The second movement crosses the natural harmonics of the violin and the normal playing method in 4/4 time, expressing oriental excellence and emotion.The third movement is composed in a short ABA form with a humorous lightness and weight in 3/8 time.The fourth movement quoted the theme of “Ganggangsullae†in 8/12 time, and was composed in the form of variations that change with various personalities, sometimes majestic, sometimes sobbing, calmly, etc.Attached Music file is only 1st. movement, it's just for a reference.

The famous theme and one of the variations explore the subtle contrast between bassoon and English horn. The original repeats are opened up and scored differently, using contrasting colors and combinations of solo clarinet, solo flute, piccolo, and soprano saxophone. A repeated section first has a flute and oboe accompanied with clarinets, then a saxophone quartet on the repeat. One variation features a solo piccolo and bells. And a prominent pair of horns recalls the sound of Haydn's divertimenti for wind ensemble. Duration: approx. 6:00. Written for an adult community band, this challenging arrangement is appropriate for a university, college, or community band, or an adventurous high school wind ensemble. The bassoon, English horn, and soprano saxophone parts are all fully cued to allow rehearsal or performance in the absence of any or all of them. Two strong horn players are essential; but the third and fourth horn parts are easier, and cued in trombones and euphonium. The bassoon parts use the tenor clef and ascend to a high B-flat; the second bassoon has only one 8-measure high passage that doubles the horns and can be omitted if necessary. The alternate versions of both bassoon parts use only bass clef but are otherwise identical. Waltz No. 1
This Piano Sonata in G major has a light, liltingmelody and a midsection that underscores the style of a waltz. It is a verylively and dynamic piece. The mood is enhanced by a few diffuse moments, whichsupports the arc of suspense.
Impromptu
Based on Franz Schubert, this impromptu is inspired bythe trio of the fourth part of Opus 90 from 1827. The style has been expandedand reinterpreted with modern elements. The theme increases to the upperoctaves and culminates in a new theme in the midsection. It ends with a solemnmood.
Summer
Originally it is the theme of my first symphony forchorus and orchestra, third Movement. In this arrangement for piano, it is themelody that is intensively underlined and expressed.
2nd Intermezzo
In the beginning this piece is like a nocturne byFrederic Chopin, But the midsection is based on the midsection of the secondintermezzo, opus 118 by Johannes Brahms from 1893. Mood, harmony and style ofthe midsection are also inspired by the soundtrack from "PearlHarbor" by Hans Zimmer.
