David Bowie: Life On Mars for Clarinet & Piano

Clarinet in Bb & Piano - Intermediate - Digital Download By David Bowie. Arranged…

Clarinet in Bb & Piano - Intermediate - Digital Download By David Bowie. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Score, Set of Parts. 12 pages. Published by jmsgu3
Duration: 3:23, Score: 7 pages, 61 measures, solo part: 2 pages, piano part: 3 pages. Meter: common time, Tempo: quarter note = 124. Excellent choice for recitals, church or combo performance.<br> <br> "When released as a single in 1973, it reached no. 3 in the UK and stayed on the chart for thirteen weeks. The song re-entered the UK charts at no. 55 over 30 years later, largely because of its use in the original British television series Life on Mars.[6] In June 2015, Neil McCormick of The Daily Telegraph ranked it as no. 1 in his "100 Greatest Songs of All Time" list,[7] describing it thus:<br> <br> Gloriously strange sci-fi anthem. A stirring, yearning melody combines with vivid, poetic imagery to accomplish a trick very particular to the art of the song: to be at once completely impenetrable and yet resonant with personal meaning. You want to raise your voice and sing along, yet Bowie’s abstract cut-up lyrics force you to invest the song with something of yourself just to make sense of the experience, and then carries you away to a place resonant with intense, individual emotion. The magic and mystery of music and lyrics. It is something to behold.[7]<br> <br> In a 2012 poll, "Life on Mars?" was voted Bowie's best song. Digital Spy, who conducted the poll, stated it has "perhaps become David's signature song – filled with surreal cut-up lyrics inspired by William Burroughs, it married vivid imagery with a tender, heartbreaking melody".[8]<br> <br> The song has appeared in several television series. The BBC television drama Life on Mars used both the name and the song itself as its basis. The song was used extensively throughout the programme and its spin-off, Ashes to Ashes. The song was used also in the American version of Life on Mars. In the episode "The Waters of Mars", of the British television show Doctor Who, takes place in the first human base on Mars, named "Bowie Base One".<br> <br> Jessica Lange sang a rendition with a deep German accent on the fourth-season premiere of the FX television program American Horror Story: Freak Show.[10] Playing a character whose surname is Mars, Lange wears an ice-blue trouser suit and heavy matching eye shadow in her performance, echoing the Bowie video.[10] Both the song and the performance are anachronistic, given that the season takes place in 1952, nearly 20 years before Bowie released the song. She performs the song again in the episode "Pink Cupcakes", and an instrumental version is played at the end of the season finale, "Curtain Call", where Mars is getting ready to sing.<br> <br> The song has also appeared in several film soundtracks. The original soundtrack of Lars von Trier's 1996 movie Breaking the Waves features "Life on Mars?" during the epilogue, although the song was replaced by Elton John's "Your Song" on the international DVD release for copyright reasons.[11] "Life on Mars?" is included on the soundtrack to the 2004 film The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, starring Bill Murray as Steve Zissou.[12] The song is played as Murray walks stoned to the bow of his boat in solitude as a party continues below deck. "Life on Mars?" is included in the 2005 film Loverboy, first being played on the radio during a conversation between the 10-year-old Emily and Mrs. Harker, and later being sung a cappella by 10-year-old Emily.[12] "Life on Mars?" is included on the soundtrack to the 2006 film Factory Girl.[12] "Life on Mars?" is used in the 2012 British film Hunky Dory, sung by the character Davey (Aneurin Barnard).<br> <br> Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong has said that he would like either "Life on Mars?" or "Take This Job and Shove It" by Johnny Paycheck played at his funeral.[13]"-Wikipedia

Guitar,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.747044 By Dizzy Gillespie. By Dizzy Gillespie and Frank Paparelli. Arranged by Keith Terrett. Jazz. Score and part. 12 pages. Keith Terrett #5953127. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.747044). A great sounding arrangement of A Night in Tunisia arranged for Guitar (notaion) & Piano, Guitarists will love this! Tab is available on request: keithterrett@gmail.comA jazz solo is written out for you, if you wish you can improvise on the given chord symbols!A Night in Tunisia is a musical composition written by Dizzy Gillespie around 1941–42, while Gillespie was playing with the Benny Carter band. It has become a jazz standard. It is also known as Interlude. Gillespie called the tune Interlude and said some genius decided to call it 'Night in Tunisia'. He said the tune was composed at the piano at Kelly's Stables in New York. He gave Frank Paparelli co-writer credit in compensation for some unrelated transcription work, but Paparelli had nothing to do with the song. A Night in Tunisia was one of the signature pieces of Gillespie's bebop big band, and he also played it with his small groups. In January 2004, The Recording Academy added the 1946 Victor recording by Gillespie to the Grammy Hall of Fame.On the album A Night at Birdland Vol. 1, Art Blakey introduced his 1954 cover version with this statement: At this time we'd like to play a tune [that] was written by the famous Dizzy Gillespie. I feel rather close to this tune because I was right there when he composed it in Texas on the bottom of a garbage can. The audience laughs, but Blakey responds, Seriously. The liner notes say, The Texas department of sanitation can take a low bow.The complex ostinato bass line in the A section is notable for avoiding the standard walking bass pattern of straight quarter notes, and the use of oscillating half-step-up/half-step-down chord changes (using the Sub V, a tritone substitute chord for the dominant chord) gives the song a unique, mysterious feeling. The B section is notable for having an unresolved minor II-V, since the chord progression of the B section is taken from the B section of the standard Alone Together, causing the V chord to lead back into the Sub V of the A section.Like many of Gillespie's tunes, it features a short written introduction and a brief interlude that occurs between solo sections - in this case, a twelve-bar sequence leading into a four-bar break for the next soloist.

String Trio Cello,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1404946 By ABBA. By Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus. Arranged by Krista Broadway Swider. Pop. 12 pages. Krista Swider #987982. Published by Krista Swider (A0.1404946). This Abba classic has a simple form with really fun vocal line solos for all the instruments and a great beat, which the cello and viola hold down for the majority of the song. This arrangement starts with an intro that uses homorhythmic material with tight harmonies that imitate the feel of the original Abba music video.  As the song launches into the first verse, the viola and cello team up playing the “Take a Chance†rhythmic figure, emulating the chanted words from the song, with the violin on melody. The viola takes the melody on the first half of the chorus, then hands it off to the cello which has a brief section in tenor clef. The song repeats and fades out on the chorus.  Bowings and rehearsal letters are included for ease of sight-reading, ideal for gigging performances. This version has been arranged a half step down (the original song was written in B Major, and I adjusted the key to B-flat Major so that it’s a bit friendlier to string players).

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1341998 By ABBA. By Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus. Arranged by Krista Broadway Swider. Pop. 15 pages. Krista Swider #927511. Published by Krista Swider (A0.1341998). This Abba classic is a blast to play. This song’s form is simple, but it has really fun vocal line solos for all the instruments, snazzy synthesizer solos featured by the violins, and a great beat, which the cello and viola hold down.  The arrangement starts with an intro using only the top 3 voices, imitating the feel of the original music video which starts with the four Abba singers singing acapella.  Following the intro, viola and cello team up playing the “Take a Chance†rhythmic figure, emulating the chanted words from the original track, while the violins play the melody in duet form. The viola takes the melody on the first half of the verse, while the cello hugs the bass line and violins hang out on discreet descants and counter melodies. The cello then wails the melody on the second half of the verse, with a brief section in tenor clef.

Marimba Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1076866 By Judy Garland. By E.Y. Yip Harburg and Harold Arlen. Arranged by Daniel Neufeld. 20th Century,Broadway,Classical,Film/TV,Musical/Show,Standards. Individual part. 7 pages. Daniel Neufeld #680963. Published by Daniel Neufeld (A0.1076866). This solo for 5 octave marimba features a dynamic, mystical take on the golden-era classic, Over the Rainbow from The Wizard of Oz. Completely reimagined from the original, Fantasia on Over the Rainbow features virtuosic runs, expressive dynamics, and idiomatic material commonly found in solos of this genre of classical percussion music. This piece is a great choice for beginners looking to take a step up from beginner repertoire, intermediate players looking for a comfortable challenge, or anyone who wants to perform a highly virtuosic, individualistic piece with lots of opportunity for open interpretation and expressivity. 6'00.

String Orchestra - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1234470 By a-ha. By Magne Furuholmne, Morton Harket, and Pal Waaktaar. Arranged by Laura Gorden. Hip-Hop,Instructional,Pop,R & B,Soul. Score and Parts. 16 pages. Laura Gorden #829975. Published by Laura Gorden (A0.1234470). An arrangement of the hit song Take on Me as recorded by a-ha for string orchestra. The arrangement includes the score and parts around Grade Level 2 1/2. This score provides educational opportunities for young orchestras with specific concepts such as syncopated rhythms, transitioning from pizzacato to arco and back within short rests, bow changes over a long single note, and ensemble bowing decisions. There is no shifting for vln, vla or cello, however, small shifting for bass up to a 'high d' on the G string. This arrangement is a shorter version than the original song and has a cheesy end with the melody plucked across all strings. The tempo is marked up a bit to match the style of the original, but please choose a tempo to best suite your orchestra. Hope you enjoy!Â

Kris Bowers' iconic theme for the 2020 smash hit Netflix television series, Bridgerton. With a driving beat, and faux Regency charm, this is not only a great show piece, it will become a great wedding tune too. Faithful to the original, this arrangement includes a slight extension in its arrangement to take the original opening credits tune over the 2-minute mark to make it more acceptable as a concert and wedding gig piece.

String Ensemble Drum Set,Electric Bass Guitar,Piano Accompaniment - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1105087 By David Kai. By David Kai. Arranged by David Kai. Christian,Contemporary,Country,Rock. Accompaniment. Duration 221. David Kai #708333. Published by David Kai (A0.1105087). A song for those grieving the loss of a pet, especially those whose pets support them through issues such as PTSD and depression. The death of a pet is certainly one the most difficult things that pet lovers experience. Pets offer us companionship, affection and healing, but their relatively short lifespan means that we will experience this loss many times in our lives. Many of us take comfort in the idea of a rainbow bridge that our pets cross when they die, and that we too will cross to be united with our pets. This song expresses the grief that we experience with the death of a pet, but also the hope that we will be reunited with them one day. This version of the song is a backing track for a soloist. BEYOND THE RAINBOW BRIDGE by David Kai ©2019 The day that I first met you, I held you in the palm of my hand And from that moment onward I knew that we would be the best of friends And though you started as a Christmas gift to set beneath the tree You know you really were a gift from God to me. We walked through fields and forests, we’d hit the trail in sun and wind and rain When I was at my lowest, you licked my hand and raised me up again But time passed much too quickly, and you know just what you did You took a piece of my broken heart beyond the rainbow bridge. I’m not sure what heaven’s like , I’m not sure how things will be But if we won’t be together, it won’t feel like heaven to me But if the Lord be willing, I’ll hear your welcome bark again, And see you running to me, through the golden fields of grain Most faithful of companions, you’d been with me in sickness and in health You always loved to see me, even when I couldn’t really love myself And when you licked my hand that one last time, then you know just what you did You took a piece of my broken heart beyond the rainbow bridge. You took a piece of my broken heart beyond the rainbow bridge.
