Instrumental Solo,Piano,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.987851 Composed by Robert M. Greenberg. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and individual part. 29 pages. Robert M. Greenberg #100609. Published by Robert M. Greenberg (A0.987851). Preferred Contact Information: RMonteverdi@comcast.net Performing Rights Organization: BMI Website: robertgreenbergmusic.com Facebook Band Page: facebook.com/RobertGreenbergMusic Duration: ca. 6 1/2 minutes Year of composition: 2011 Program Note: Titles, like mold-scum atop month-old cottage cheese, can take on a life of their own. South Bay Angle was originally composed in 1991 during an Astor Piazzolla-inspired fit of tango-madness. While a more appropriate title for the piece would have been something on the lines of I Can Write One of Those! or This Gringo’s Token Tango, circumstances conspired in another titular direction. The piece was originally intended for performance on a program produced by Composers, Inc., a new-music collective in which I was (and remain) an artistic director. Composers Inc. was then in its seventh season. In those days when newspapers still mattered, Composers, Inc. sought to receive as many print reviews as possible. To that end, the organization invited Paul Hertelendy - who was then the music critic for the San Jose Mercury News - to cover its concerts. He said he would do so provided that there was some sort of south-bay angle which addressed the specific needs of his south-bay readership. Thinking myself clever, I thus entitled the piece South Bay Angle. Hertelandy would get his angle and Composers, Inc. would get its coverage. It didn’t work out that way. The piece was never performed; Hertelendy never got his angle; and Composers, Inc. never received a review from the San Jose Mercury News. Instead, twenty years later, I returned to South Bay Angle and rewrote it from the ground up. The piece is cast as a large-scale A-B-A form. The violin is a willing participant in the tango during the A sections, but a rather reluctant tangoista in the B section, during which it tries mightily to turn the music into a waltz. It does not succeed, and the piece ends as it began, in a blaze of rhythmic fury.

Piano Accompaniment, Trombone - Advanced - Digital Download Composed by Antonio J. Garcia. 21st Century, Jazz, Blues, Swing, Funk Jazz. Score, Solo Part. 14 pages. Published by Cherry Classics Music
Virginia Commonwealth University Professor Antonio J. García has taken Haydn’s “London” Symphony as a point of departure for his London Town Fantasy for trombone and orchestra (or piano accompaniment), commissioned by the Charlottesville Symphony Society for the Charlottesville & University Symphony Orchestra (Virginia). CUSO Music Director Kate Tamarkin sought a piece that would “showcase the trombone in a jazz ballad style and somehow reference the Haydn ‘London’ Symphony” that would follow it on the program, knowing that the first half of the concert would also include the Brahms “Variations on a Theme of Joseph Haydn.” She and trombone soloist Nathan Dishman suggested the title “London Town Fantasy,” envisioning a potential intersection with elements of George Gershwin’s “A Foggy Day (In London Town),” which seemed apt given a scheduled trip of García’s to London during the compositional process.<br> <br> Listeners familiar with Haydn's “London” Symphony No. 104" will notice references starting at the first measure. And the violin part at the outset of the Symphony’s fourth movement, Allegro Spiritoso, offered the core of what became the melody to this Fantasy. The melody of the “bridge” section of the tune is crafted from the first seven measures of the opening theme of Haydn’s first movement (Allegro).<br> <br> The use of “A Foggy Day” had to be more subtle, as copyright law must be observed, limiting the use of its actual melody within this piece. But Gershwin’s harmony actually is the harmonic basis under the melody of the Fantasy; and his devotees will recognize that when the soloist improvises medium-swing jazz with the orchestra, the chord progression is indeed entirely that of “A Foggy Day.” (An optional written-out solo is provided.)<br> <br> Note that the string section is not asked to play swing eighth-notes at any time. Their jazz-phrased passages are couched in even-eighth, syncopated double-timed-sixteenth, and triplet-eighth cross-rhythmed lines well-rooted in the jazz tradition. Winds and brass, however, have swing-eighth passages to perform (and some even-sixteenth lines).<br> <br> The superb piano reduction makes the six-minute London Town Fantasy ideal for performances on student and professional recitals, and no improvisational skills are needed by the pianist. Available MIDI demonstration recordings of the duo and orchestral settings, with MIDI soloist or “minus one,” make rehearsals easy and even provide the aural basis for your own potential “virtual” performance.

Bassoon,Piano,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.576480 Composed by David Warin Solomons. Contemporary. 15 pages. David Warin Solomons #26919. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.576480). This is my composition from several movements written by various composer members of the Delian Society to illustrate the novel Le Horla by Guy de Maupassant Details, pdf files and mp3 files of the whole suite can be found at:https://dwsolo.com/le-horla-2012-after-the-novel-by-guy-de-maupassant/ This movement is introduced by the narrator as follows: On the left, down yonder, lies Rouen, populous Rouen with its blue roofs massing under pointed, Gothic towers. Innumerable are they, delicate or broad, dominated by the spire of the cathedral, full of bells which sound through the blue air on fine mornings, sending their sweet and distant iron clang to me, their metallic sounds, now stronger and now weaker, according as the wind is strong or light. The protagonist is still in a happy mood, before the madness of Le Horla descends upon him. The sogetto cavato on the name of Guy de Maupassant, used in all of the compositions, is taken as part of the Dorian scale initially, to be transmogrified halfway through into the major scale, representing the optimistic mood of our anti-hero at the outset as he listens to the cheerful bells of Rouen and thinks all is well with his world. In counterpoint to the sogetto cavato you can also hear the first quarter of the hourly chime of Rouen Cathedral played on the bassoon, both themes interweaving playfully in four time, in seven time and in two-two-three time throughout the movement. The misleadingly cheerful scene is set.

Published by Arte Nova Music Lab (A0.742388). Ede Poldini (13 June 1869 – 28 June 1957) was a Hungarian composer of the late romantic / early modern period. Famous in Hungary for writing many operas, he became internationally famous when Fritz Kreisler transcribed his piano piece La poupée valsante for violin.Poldini studied with István Tomka in Budapest and with Eusebius Mandyczewski in Vienna. In 1908 he settled in Switzerland, writing two of his more famous operas: The Vagabond and the Princess (1903) and Wedding in Carnival Time(1924). These were both produced in London, the latter under the title Love Adrift. Himfy was produced in 1938 in Budapest.Poldini is best known for his miniature piano pieces, such as La poupée valsante, given wider audience in Fritz Kreisler's transcription, Arlequinades, Morceaux pittoresques, Episodes à la cour, Images, and Moments musicaux. Marionettes were seven piano pieces that he later orchestrated. His one-act opera Der Vagabund und die Prinzessin was given 14 times in Dresden in 1916/17 under Fritz Reiner with a cast including Ludwig Ermold, Minnie Nast, Georg Zottmayr and Richard Tauber. He died in Vevey, Switzerland in 1957, aged 88. Full Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1002835 Composed by Kyle Vanderburg. Contemporary. Score and parts. 112 pages. NoteForge #5793397. Published by NoteForge (A0.1002835). I started writing what would become One Sows for the Benefit of Another Age in 2013, as I was sketching ideas for what became a piano trio. I liked what I had created, but two things became evident: The piece was destined to be for orchestra, and I was not good enough as a composer to finish it. Over the next seven years, I kept returning to this piece in my spare time, adding some sections, tweaking some others, and at some point I gained the experience to finish it. But the trade-off was that I no longer had the time. At least until Spring of 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic put most of my projects on hold, and I was able to return to--and finish--the work. The title came last. My ideas while I was writing centered around Americana (I was listening to a lot of Copland, Barber, and Ives) and infusing my history and experience in the Ozarks and on the plains. I knew I wanted to make use of the idea of illumination, of dawn. I wanted to start in the shadows and end aglow. The darkness was such a defining feature that my working title was Aegri Somnia, loosely translated from Latin as troubled dreams. As I continued working, I realized that the focus wasn't the darkness--the focus was the change.I discuss change a lot in my teaching. Students often see change as transformative change--massive, radical, sweeping change, like winning the lottery, or winning an audition. Transformative change is easy--it usually involves hoping for a situation or a Deus ex Machina, and if it happens, it benefits us immediately. Iterative change, however--small, repeated, incremental change that builds up over time--is hard. An extra half-hour of work every day, a little extra contributed to savings every month, these changes add up over time and become significant. But it requires intention and action, and it doesn't reap immediate benefits. It may not end up benefitting us at all.One Sows changes iteratively. It starts from a dark place, but is sprinkled with seeds of hope. A descending motive introduced in the violins brings us out of the darkness, albeit slowly. The idea spreads, develops, and eventually becomes part of a new idea, a new paradigm, that takes over.In searching for a title, I came across Serit ut alteri saeclo prosit, North Dakota's Latin state motto, whose English translation is the title of this work. It's a recent addition to the North Dakota statutes, but a timeless message. Our work isn't finished yet.

Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now) (also titled Against All Odds) is a song by English drummer, singer and songwriter Phil Collins. It was recorded for the soundtrack to the 1984 film of the same name. It is a power ballad in which its protagonist implores an ex-lover to take a look at me now, knowing that reconciliation is against all odds, but worth the gamble. The single reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, the first of seven US No. 1's for Collins in his solo career. Against All Odds (Take a Look At Me Now) also topped the charts in Canada, Ireland, and Norway, while peaking at No. 2 in the United Kingdom.

Small Ensemble Bass Voice,Cello,Clarinet,Flute,Piano,Viola,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1009217 Composed by An-lun Huang. 20th Century,Classical,Folk. Score and parts. 85 pages. DoReMi Edition #614863. Published by DoReMi Edition (A0.1009217). SEVEN CANADIAN FOLK SONGS IN CHINESE STYLE Septet for Flute, Clarinet, Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass and Piano An-lun Huang, op.36 (1986) James Campbell, the famous Canadian clarinets, commissioned a septet from Huang for the China tour of the Canadian Chamber Group in 1984. Campbell suggested that An-lun combine the folk music of Canada and China in this new work. The result was the septet,†Seven Canadian Folk Songs in Chinese style, became the most exciting hit piece of the tour. The world premiere was taken place at the Festival of the Sound at Parry Sound, Ontario, before the China tour. It was performed by seven leading Canadian musicians, Moshe Hammer(violin), Steven Dann(viola), Sophie Rolland(cello), Joel Quarrington(bass), Anton Kuerti(piano), Robert Aitken(flute) and James Campbell(clarinet). The piece was so warmly received both in Canada and China that a record has been released. It was also the most successful piece for the Canada-Hong Kong Festival, Hong Kong, 91. In addition, in 2002, successfully, the Canadian Symphoniatta performed its orchestral version, conducted by Tak-ng Lai, in Paris, France. However, Huang found the musical similarity of the two nations--the pentatonic mode. Written in Chinese idea, the septet gives the opportunity both to the Chinese and Canadian audiences to find themselves in each other through the Seven Canadian folk songs. The septet is divided into seven attacca parts. No.1 begins the music into a very quiet British Columbia Indian folk tune, performed by flute and clarinet, and occasionally, the piano gives few chords to support them. No.2 comes a Alberta Indian lyric song with all instruments. The folk songs of No.3 and 4 are Ontario Forest man’s old tunes which bring the music to the exciting part. The No.5 is a Saskatchewan Indian traditional tune, the war song. Its heavy dynamic shows the typical native Canadian rhythmic patterns. Wooden spoon is a Canadian folk instrument. The clarinet player plays it in No.6 of a vivacious Quebec folk dance. And in a Newfoundland lyric song, No.7, the septet goes to its brilliant ending. The attached mp3 was recorded a Russian master and Fei-ping Hsu, one of the greatest Chinese pianist. Duration: 18 min.

Violin and piano - advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q11659 For Violin and Piano. Composed by Cyril Scott. This edition: Sheet music. Violin Library. Downloadable. Duration 7' 40. Schott Music - Digital #Q11659. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q11659). Iridescent changes of time are the determining element in 'Poème érotique' of Cyril Scott's 'Deux Préludes' composed in 1912. Amid the melodic flow of the violin, the piano undertakes sophisticated shifts of the bar accents, from swaying three-eight time to rhapsodic seven-eight time. The following 'Danse' also requires great rhythmic understanding of its performers and, with the appropriate accentuation, displays its pointed charms. With 'Deux Préludes', Scott wrote chamber music works that are perfect as effective performance pieces.

Published by David Perkins (A0.905620). The Sandy Path That Leads Me Down is an arrangement for Piano Quartet - Piano, Violin, Viola and Cello. Originally a setting of a poem by John Betjemen, this piece re-arranged for Piano Quartet, has become a wordless song in its own right. The somewhat cryptic title is a line taken from the original poem. This and seven other pieces (yet to be arranged) will eventually form a suite of pieces entitled As Wordless as the Windy Sky. Together they will create a broadly biographical sequence from the boundless imagination of childhood, through holidays, religion, love, the pleasures of the middle years to the inevitability of old age.

Piano Solo - Digital Download SKU: A0.1022031 Composed by Fredrik Schwenk. Contemporary. Score. 22 pages. Fredrik Schwenk #6303809. Published by Fredrik Schwenk (A0.1022031). The seven-part cycle for solo piano was composed on the occasion of the birth of the son of violinist Anna and pianist Andreas Skouras. Inspired by a seminar on Robert Schumann held together with Beatrix Borchard, the composition was written in the second week of January 2012 in Hamburg. Although the titles, with one humorous deviation, are all taken from Schumann's famous piano cycle, the pieces make no direct reference to it musically except in terms of their concise scale. Nevertheless, they reflect the type of Romantic character piece without formally imitating it or thematically quoting it. The final piece reflects the nightly ritual of falling asleep, using elements from the slow movement of Joseph Haydn's 101st Symphony in D major Hob/I-101, with the allegorical title the clock.

Key: C major.Sorry I haven't uploaded in a while, truth is, I haven't been inspired to write anything extraordinary lately because this lockdown had me feeling down. Last month I went to visit a friend of mine in Canton, GA, and it inspired me to write this song. It's kind of like one of my earlier compositions Kentucky Hills. Georgia is definitely one of my favorite states, and I absolutely *love* to travel. No matter how long the drive, I will go anywhere if I am determined enough. This was a seven-to-eight hour drive and was definitely worth it. Earlier this year I also drove up to University of Northern Florida in Jacksonville, FL, which is two and a half hours north of me. From there I took a friend up to Jekyll Island, which was beautiful. Speaking of UNF, that is where I am going for my fall term. I'm going to major in music education and also finish my AA up there. I am going to try to be more active this summer, you can count on it. :) Thanks for listening! --Reese.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.938424 Composed by Colin Bayliss. 20th Century. Score and parts. 46 pages. Colin Bayliss #11309. Published by Colin Bayliss (A0.938424). The work was completed on February 2nd 1970 and is the first piece to be retained by the composer after he had destroyed all his earlier compositions. The parts are available as a separate download. The following is taken from the catalogue of the composer's works:- The photocopy of the MS is marked String Quartet No. 1, but is not regarded by the composer as part of his mature string quartet writing. The MS itself was lost in a fire at the home of Col. Robert Tong, formerly Registrar of Queen Mary College, University of London. A typesetting was made in November 2000 as the photocopy had faded so badly. The composer's sketch books suggest that the movements were written in the order 3,2,4,1. 1. Allegro 2. Scherzo (Allegro energico) Trio I - tempo di menuetto Trio II - no tempo indicated - [andante] 3. Andante con moto 4. Allegro ma non troppo Composer's note:- As the above suggests, I originally had no intention of publishing this early piece. The recording by the Lochrian String Quartet of the six numbered quartets, however , together with sleeve notes admitting the existence of this work, prompted me into revising my opinion and allowing its publication, so that anyone wishing to study this first effort may do so. It shows certain traits that I was to develop in the six quartets and others that I was to discard, and therefore is of musicological interest. It also has a few good, albeit imitative, tunes! Duration: Approx. 25 mins. COLIN BAYLISS was born in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire in 1948. His life-long love of music led him to compose from an early age and he now has a catalogue of over a hundred works including two operas, four symphonies, six string quartets and many other pieces for most instrumental and chamber groupings, over seventy of them published. He is a member of the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters, the North West Composers' Association and the Performing Rights Society. As well as writing music himself, he has also compiled annotated catalogues of the works of Anthony Hedges and Sir Peter Maxwell Davies. CDs of his piano music played by David Martin and complete organ music played by Ronald Frost are available on the New Century Classics label. High chair at your feet), K. Anh. 25/386d, is the title of an unfinished fragment for voice and piano composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1782 to commemorate the Great Siege of Gibraltar. The lyrics of the song are the work of the Austrian poet and bibliographer Michael Denis (1729–1800 ).Mozart never visited Gibraltar and his homeland, Austria, was not involved in the war between Spain, Britain and France, which included the Great Siege. However, since Mozart was Austrian, and Gibraltar had been taken in 1704 by the Great Alliance of Powers on behalf of the Archduke of Austria, when the Great Siege occurred between the same opponents when, eighty years earlier, Austria was an ally of the defenders. Furthermore, Mozart did not feel much affection towards the French; On the contrary, he had a certain affection for the British, and two of his English students were among his favorites.

Small Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1088415 Composed by Antonio Gervasoni. Classical,Contemporary,Multicultural,World. Score and parts. 32 pages. Antonio Gervasoni #692680. Published by Antonio Gervasoni (A0.1088415). Three-movement work for soprano, clarinet and piano. Eulogy is a piece dedicated to the memory of my dear friend Rafael Salazar. I met Rafael in 1994, when I was invited to take the position of guest pianist (I was already an alumnus) in my high school orchestra, where he played the violin. I was seven years his senior, but that didn't stop us from forging a great friendship. He played my music in many other occasions. He grew up and matured, became a loving husband, father, and successful attorney. He was always available, always ready to lend a hand, genuinely concerned for the well-being of other people and for the future of our country. He was always there for me and for all his friends and I have lost count of all the times he offered me his help, without expecting anything in return. In November 2019, at age 39, he was diagnosed with cancer. Despite all our hopes and his great will to live, he passed away on April 18, 2020. He now visits me in my dreams and sometimes, when I realize that I'm dreaming, I give him a big hug. Rest in peace my friend. I'll miss you a lot.

Bartók: Rumanian Folk Dances Sz.56 (Complete) -symphonic wind dectet

Large Ensemble Bassoon,Clarinet,Double Bass,Horn,Oboe,Piccolo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1038136 Composed by Bela Bartok. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Classical,Folk. Score and parts. 46 pages. RayThompsonMusic #643066. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1038136). The complete set arranged wind dectet and bass Romanian Folk Dances Sz. 56, BB 68 is a suite of six short piano pieces composed by Béla Bartók in 1915. He later orchestrated it for small ensemble in 1917 as Sz. 68, BB 76. It is based on seven Romanian tunes from Transylvania, originally played on fiddle or shepherd's flute. The original name for the piece was titled Romanian Folk Dances from Hungary but was later changed by Bartók when Transylvania became part of Romania in 1920. It is nowadays available in the 1971 edition which is written with key signatures although Bartók rarely ever used key signatures. This set of dances consists of six movements and, according to the composer, it should take four minutes and three seconds to perform, but most professional pianists take up to five minutes. The list of the movements is as follows (with the original Hungarian title listed first, the most commonly known Romanian title second, and the English translation in parentheses): Bot tánc / Jocul cu bâtă (Stick Dance)The melody of the first movement, according to Bartók, came from the Mezőszabad (present-day Voiniceni) village that was part of Mezőcsávás (present-day Ceuașu de Câmpie) commune which was located in the Maros-Tordaadministrative county within Transylvania, and he first heard it when two gypsy violinists were playing it. Brâul (Sash Dance)The second movement is a typical dance from Romania called Brâul, for which traditionally a sash or a waistband was used. This melody came from Egres (present-day Igriș), in the Banat region. Topogó / Pe loc (In One Spot)The third dance comes also from Egres (Igriș), but its theme is much darker and its melody recreates Middle Eastern instruments, such as the flute.[4] Bucsumà tánc / Buciumeana (Dance from Bucsum)The fourth dance came from Bucsony, Alsó-Fehér County (today Bucium, Alba county in Romania) Román polka / Poarga Românească (Romanian Polka)The fifth dance is an old Romanian dance similar to the Polka and comes from Belényes (present-day Beiuş, in Bihor county), near the border between Hungary and Romania. Aprózó / Mărunțel (Fast Dance)The sixth and last dance is formed by two different melodies: the first one comes from Belényes (present-day Beiuș) and the second one comes from the then named Nyagra (present-day Neagra) village within the Palotailva (present-day Lunca Bradului) commune. Both on the orchestral version and on the original piano version, the final two dances are performed attacca-without a break between movements.
