Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1370002 Composed by Kevin G. Pace (ASCAP), Kathryn W. Hales. Children,Christian,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. Score. 6 pages. Kevin G. Pace #954376. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1370002). A children's song, telling the story of the sons of Mosiah from the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Christ. Â Music by Kevin G. Pace. Â Text by Kathryn W. Hales.Text:The Lord told King Mosiah to let his sons go away, To the land of Nephi where for many years they'd stay. They wanted to preach the gospel in the Lord's ministry, To the sinful, wicked Lamanites who were their enemies. Now one of the sons was Ammon who had been a rebellious youth, But after Alma's change of heart, he wanted to know the truth. He became Lamoni's servant, watching over the king's sheep, He beat some robbers who came to steal, leaving a pile of arms at his feet. Then he taught King Lamoni the true source of his strength and might, That the king should change his ways, repent and do what's right. Lamoni believed what Ammon taught and all his people too, They became so very righteous because God's promises are true.Aaron was another son of Nephite King Mosiah, He taught of the Creation, of the Fall and God's Son who would die To save all men from death and sin, yea, Jesus, the Holy One, Who would come to earth at some future day to save each and ev'ry one.Omni and his brother Himnor were also Mosiah's sons, But not much is recorded about their missions. But they were faithful servants during all their trial filled days, They taught many people how to walk in God's own chosen way.Chorus:I want to be like Mosiah's sons and share God's holy word. I can be a missionary, a servant of the Lord. I can be so very courageous, I can the gospel teach, That all may know God's holy grace is within their loving reach.

Unison/two-part chorus - Digital Download SKU: C7.CGA1543 Composed by Nathan Smith. General. Sacred Anthem. Octavo. 12 pages. Chorister's Guild - Digital #CGA1543. Published by Chorister's Guild - Digital (C7.CGA1543). Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount – and specifically, the Beatitudes – is set in a delightful way by composer Nathan Smith. A bubbly melody tells the story of Jesus lifting up the merciful, the pure in heart, and the peacemakers. A beautiful, soaring descant enters on the final refrain, fully supported by a wonderful piano accompaniment. Consider pairing this anthem with a reading of Matthew 5:7-9, or use this musical retelling in place of a spoken reading.

Published by John Fisher (A0.972976). This rhythmic versatile piece has elements of the well known Macarena telling the beloved story of David and Goliath with suggested motions for Bible schoolers, children's choir, concert choir or a mime. Sopranos tell the story until a quartet comes in and a bass sings the part of Goliath. the music has Saul's troops trembling and David whacking off Goliath's head. It is the literal brutality of the Old Testament. The sling shot move is from Zumba and it represents David hurling that little pebble which becomes the rock on which his faith in God is based.

The piece is composed in three sections, representative of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The close harmonies create the mournful emotional tension. Word painting and story telling is apparent throughout, especially in passages such as resúrget, in which a solo soprano soars above the choir representing the ascension to heaven, and the repeated Lacrimósa, paints an image of tears falling down ones face. A sense of urgency begins to build in the Judicándus section, and the melodic and harmonic structure changes. As the harmonies build and tempo increases you can feel the fear of the unknown future which lies ahead. Begging and pleading for forgiveness ensues as the voices call out, párce Déus, to be seated at the Father’s side. As the tension builds and harmonies become more complex the piece escalates to its climax and comes to an abrupt end. After a slight pause, the calm settles in. Judgement has been passed and the tenors transition us to the PÃe Jésu section with Dóna éis réquiem, surrounded by the return of the melodic motif meant to appear as the angels delivering the assurances of God’s mercifulness. The final phrase dóna éis réquiem, is sung with cross voicing found in the tenor and bass section representing the ascension to heaven as the harmonies settle into their final resting place.

Chamber Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.533578 Composed by Carson Cooman. Christian,Contemporary,Spiritual. Score and parts. 189 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3025409. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533578). The Acts of the Apostles (2009), an oratorio for baritone, chorus, congregation/audience, and chamber orchestra (piano, organ, strings-suggested minimum of 3.3.3.2.1),was commissioned by The Memorial Church at Harvard University. It is dedicated to Edward Elwyn Jones and theHarvard University Choir. The biblical books of Luke and Acts form a pair of documents from a single author and with a single audience (thelikely-metaphorical “Theophilusâ€), yet they are unusual for being composed in such contrasting genres. Luke’sgospel, using Mark as a primary source throughout, features a comparable literary style to that of the otherevangelists. Acts, by contrast, is a historical monograph that charts the birth of the Church with dramatic storiesabout—and speeches from—the apostles, painting a vivid, if not necessarily chronological, picture of their victoriesand struggles. As such, it is a book that provides excellent source material for a dramatic choral libretto of this scale.Although much of Acts is focused on the ministry of Saul/Paul, this oratorio draws most of its material from thefirst third of the book, prior to and including the conversion of Saul. In the Prologue, Christ’s ascension is narratedand—following an orchestral Sinfonia—the chorus sings words of Jesus from the Sermon on the Plain in Luke’sgospel that foreshadow many of the trials the apostles go on to face. The astounding account of Pentecost follows:here, words from the book of Ruth, customarily read on the feast of Shavuot (Pentecost), are included, telling thestory of a Moabite woman who converted to the Israelite faith—a parallel to the expansion of the Christian messageto all nations by the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Prayer for Boldness, quoting Psalm 2, asks God for protection fromthe threats of persecution that the apostles will now face.Stephen, regarded as the proto-martyr of the Christian Church, offers one of the most developed speeches in Acts, only a small portion of which is presented here. Full of scriptural references, including the quotation from Isaiah“Heaven is my throne…â€, the end of the narrative is remarkable for two reasons: firstly, Stephen’s final wordsmirror those of Christ on the cross in Luke’s gospel—where Jesus forgives his executioners and prays “Father, intoyour hands I commend my spirit†(Luke 23:46); secondly, Saul is specifically mentioned as one who approved ofStephen’s stoning, indicative of the redemptive possibilities of the Christian message. The account of the baptism of the Ethiopian eunuch here in the oratorio ends with the First Song of Isaiah—whilenot quoted in Acts, it seems a fitting conclusion to the scene as Philip and the eunuch were reading Isaiah together, and the canticle has often been associated by Christians with the rite of baptism. Similarly, the story of Saul’sConversion is followed here by a Christological poem found in Paul’s letter to the Philippians, though it is likely aquotation from an earlier source. It is often regarded as the earliest extant Christian hymn. The Acts of the Apostles concludes with Luke’s realistic assessment that in spite of Paul’s energetic evangelism manyremained unconvinced by the Christian message. At the heart of both Luke’s gospel and Acts is the tension betweenthe uniquely important role of the Jewish traditions that Jesus himself practiced and the expansion of the gospel togentiles, of whom Luke himself is one. It is appropriate, therefore, to follow Paul’s message of salvation to thegentiles with the Magnificat: a canticle that emphasizes the promises of God to the people of Israel throughouthistory.Three traditional hymn texts are found in the oratorio, each set congregationally to a pre-existing tune. The first,“Spirit of mercy, truth, and love†is an eighteenth century poem that e.

Tenor Voice,Vocal Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.533282 Composed by Gregory Sullivan Isaacs. Contemporary,Holiday,Love. 21 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #2331251. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533282). Whitman only published one book – Leaves of Grass – but it was always a work in progress. He added poems and revised others for each succeeding edition. Thus, the first edition (1819) was a small book with only 12 poems and the last, often refered to as the Deathbed Edition (1892), contained over 400. Some of these he wrote in “clusters†of related poems. Such is the case with the Calamus cluster. The title was chosen to alert the reader that these were poems about what he called “the love of comrades,†“manly love†or with the code word, “adhesiveness.†The concept of homosexuality, as we know it today, was very different in Whitman’s time, but violently socially taboo. Acorus calamus is a reed-like species of marsh grass. In Poetry and Prose, Whitman wrote that it s a … very large and aromatic grass, or root, spears three feet high—often called 'sweet flag'—grows all over the Northern and Middle States.†The phallic plant has always been a symbol of love and associated with the Greek myth of Kalamos, son of the river god who loved the youth Karpos. When Karpos died in a swimming accident, Kalamos transformed himself into a reed so he could always be near the spot where his beloved died, and the rustling of the reeds in the winds sounds like moans of mourning. The Calamus cluster, 39 poems in all, recount the story of a manly love found and lost from the perspective of some time later. They are bittersweet memories. I chose four poems for my own cluster. They represent the four stages of such a relationship: initial attraction, first coy interactions, full-blossomed love, and the bitterness of it’s ending. It is possible that these events actually happened or that they all occurred in the poets mind without ever revealing his thoughts to the intended. Some musical devices, such as the rustling of the leaves in the third song and the constant use of seconds as two people who are close but not yet together in the second one, are obvious. But, other than some indications of tempo, I hesitate to give out remarks about how to perform the songs, or even metronome markings, that might give the singer a preconceived notion. This situation has happened to everyone. So, I say to the singer: revive the memories of a similar event in your life: a particularly heartbreaking one is best. Bring the telling of that memory to the vivid present, and tell us that story as if it ending some time ago but the hurt remains strong, If, by some chance, the singer has not had this experience, he should wait to sing this cycle until he has. The composer

Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533384). Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1129659 Composed by Kevin G. Pace (ASCAP), Kathryn W. Hales. 20th Century,Blues,Jazz,Religious,Spiritual. Octavo. 14 pages. Kevin G. Pace #730069. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1129659). A fun, jazzy, energetic choral composition telling the story of Ebed-Melech and how he saved the prophet Jeremiah. Music by Kevin G. Pace. Text by Kathryn W. Hales. Text: The Good Book says that Moses Was buried by the hand of God; And those bitten by fiery serpents Were healed by lookin’ at a rod. Elijah was taken up to heaven By a chariot of fire, But the prophet Jeremiah Was cast into a pit of mire. “Can’t you hear me, Lord?†Jeremiah is a’cryin’, “Wilt Thou deliver me? For I am surely dyin’.†The Lord touched the heart On one Ethiopian And says to Ebed-Melech, “Go and save my son.†That black man, he did hearken And went straight up to the king, “What you’ve done to Jeremiah Is a very wicked thing.†“Can’t you see his misery? Can’t you hear him cryin’? Let me deliver him, O King, For he is surely dyin’.†Then Zedekiah repented, Said, “Go get Jeremiah Out of that old dungeon Out of the pit of mire. Take thirty strong men with you Do not delay or wait, Bring the prophet up again Before it is too late.†Ebed went to the pit, Called down into the dark, “I’s a comin’ to save you, Now, oh man, take heart. The king has relented, But before we start, Put old rags beneath your arms, So the ropes won’t leave a mark. Poor Jeremiah was so weak, He’d almost lost all hope, The men did gently lift him up ‘Cause he couldn’t climb the rope. He was kept in prison, But now he had some food, Until the Babylonians came To seize the multitude. ‘Twas an Ethiopian that saved him, A servant to Judah’s King, Blessed be the name of Ebed-Melek For doin’ such brave things. The Lord uses many people From every tribe and race To be an instrument in His hands, An implement of His grace. “Repent all House of Judah,†Jeremiah kept on a’cryin’, “Turn unto the Lord again, Otherwise you’all be dyin’. His words come down through the years To the people of today, “Repent and turn back to the Lord, And walk His chosen Way.â€.

How can we adequately tell the story of our transcendent God becoming a human being . . . becoming the poorest of the poor and the weakest of the weak . . . in order to give us His boundless, everlasting life? How can we celebrate such an event? The story should be retold both with time-honored tradition and with the newness of here and now. It should be celebrated with unbridled joy and with deep, quiet reflection. It should be sung with great power and with heartfelt tenderness and exalt our magnificent God with boldness and with childlike humility. Such a retelling, such a celebration is our prayer for An Evening in December. May it give you a new glimpse of Emmanuel, God with Us, and fill your heart with a new song of thankfulness and praise. Small Ensemble Cello,Double Bass,Saxophone,Viola,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.938331 Composed by Dr Anthony Costandius. Christian,Contemporary,Sacred. Score and parts. 72 pages. Anthony Costandius Music #14899. Published by Anthony Costandius Music (A0.938331). A piece for solo Alto Saxophone and String Orchestra. The church was made a cathedral in 1564 when the city was granted its bishopric. The cathedral was built on the site of the Aljama Mosque in the first third of the 14th century. The name of this structure, El Salvador Cathedral, literally means the Cathedral of the Transfiguration. The cathedral has three portals: the Puerta de las Cardenas (Portal of the Chains, 14th century) is in Islamic style, the Puerta de Loreto (mid-15th century) is Gothic, and Puerta de la Anunciación (Portal of the Annunciation, built in 1588 by Juan Inglés), which has a Renaissance-style triumphal arch-shape. Part 1: Introitis. The saxophone mimics a chant based on the metre of the Introitis: Rorate, caeli, desuper, et nubes pluant iustum: aperiatur terra, et germinet Salvatorem (Bedew us, heavens, from above; ye clouds, rain down the Just One. Let the earth be opened up, and produce the Saviour. The intervals 1 (tonic), 5 (dominant), 6 (super-dominant) and 4 (subdominant), based on the year 1564 referred to in the section above, are used as the basis for the harmony progression for the string section. Part 2: Puerta de las Cardenas Acts 12:3–19 says that Peter was put into prison by King Herod, but the night before his trial an angel appeared to him, and told him to leave. Peter's chains fell off, and he followed the angel out of prison, thinking it was a vision (verse 9). The prison doors opened of their own accord, and the angel led Peter into the city. The visit from the angel, release from the chains and the prison, as well as the journey into the city is expressed against the background of the Islamic design of the portal, hence the referral to Arabian rhythms and scales in the music. Part 3: Puerta de Loreto The Puerta de Loreto is of gothic design. Loreto refers to the Italian city of Loreto in the province of Ancona. It is said that the holy house where the Mother Mary lived in Nazareth was translated miraculously to Loreto on December 19, 1294 - more than 700 years ago. The house did not go straight to Loreto, but in the year 1291 it was miraculously transported from Nazareth to the town of Tersatto in Dalmatia (Croatia). The local population, filled with astonishment, did not know how to explain its sudden appearance. Their Bishop, who was gravely ill, now appeared in their midst cured. He had prayed to the Virgin Mary that he might be strong enough to see the prodigy for himself, and the Mother of God appeared to him, surrounded by Angels, saying: My son, you have called for me, and here I am. I came to give you succor and to reveal to you the mystery [of the translation of the Holy House] you desire to know. The holy dwelling is the very house where I was born and raised. It was there that I received the good news brought by the Archangel Gabriel and I conceived the Divine Infant by the operation of the Holy Ghost. It was there that the Word was made flesh... For you to bear witness to all that I am telling you now, you will suddenly be cured and return to full health after the long illness you have borne, so that through you all will believe in this miracle. Part 4: Puerta de la Anunciación The Annunciation is the Christian celebration of the announcement by the angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary that she would conceive and become the mother of Jesus, the Son of God, marking his Incarnation. Gabriel told Mary to name her son Jesus, meaning Saviour. Part 5: Exit The work ends with a re-interpretation of the first section, the Introitis. This is to bind the work together, but also to again reflect on the text, as stated: Rorate, caeli, desuper, et nubes pluant iustum: a periatur terra, et germinet Salvatorem, and to comtemplate how that gives meaning to the being, essence and history of the Catedral de Orihuela.

(Choral) - Digital Download SKU: H1.8566DP Composed by Joel Raney. Lent, Holy Week, Easter Sunday. Preview pack - book & listening CD. 67 pages. Hope Publishing - Digital #8566DP. Published by Hope Publishing - Digital (H1.8566DP). Sydney Carter.Lent & Easter Musical Sydney Carter's classic hymn, Lord of the Dance, is a metaphor of the life of Christ. In beautiful, poetic language, Carter describes Jesus as The Piper, calling his followers to the dance of life. This 30-minute musical from Joel Raney is an elaboration on that hymn, portraying each verse individually in a dramatic, colorful presentation - all retelling the story from John 3:16, For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. Appropriate for use anytime during Lent or Holy Week, for Palm Sunday or Easter morning, there is an additional narration and underscore that leads into an exciting, complete setting of Lord of the Dance, celebrating Christ's victorious resurrection. For Maundy Thursday or Good Friday, it may be concluded with the musical benediction My Jesus, I Love Thee. Narration and scripture have been carefully chosen to complete the story, tying together the verses of Lord of the Dance with a variety of other timeless hymns and songs, creating a meaningful worship experience for the congregation. The piano accompaniment works extremely well by itself, while the optional instrumental parts require a minimal number of players and will enhance the overall effect. The Instrumental Parts include a Conductor's Score and parts for Flute, Oboe, Violin and Cello.
