Theory and reference - guitar - Intermediate - Digital Download Polyrhythm in Harmony. Composed by Bret Willmott. Guitar: Classical and Lute. E- book. Mel Bay Publications - Digital Sheet Music #97884EB. Published by Mel Bay Publications - Digital Sheet Music
Many polyrhythms and polymeters (simultaneous combinations of more than one rhythmic pattern) exist in today's music, with some being so common they could be referred to as rhythm licks. This book presents a unique and comprehensive approach to polymetric applications of various rhythms over common chord progressions and song forms in 3/4 and 4/4, written primarily for instruments with chordal capabilities. Non-chordal instrumentalists interested in rhythmic development and contemporary phrasing may also benefit. Polymetric rhythms will force a variety of harmonic anticipations and delays which can have a profound and beneficial effect on harmonic, melodic, and improvisational phrasing. In addition, the focused attention and expanded awareness needed to master these exercises can also help in your sensitivity and response to the surrounding environment and your interactions with other musicians and audience.

Composed by Bret Willmott. Theory and Reference. Complete. All styles. E-book. 248 pages. Mel Bay Publications - Digital Sheet Music #95112EB. Published by Mel Bay Publications - Digital Sheet Music
This is a very comprehensive text that combines theory, harmony and voicing material with emphasis placed on voice leading. Although this book's primary focus is on four-note chord voicings on the middle strings of the guitar, much of the knowledge conveyed here can be appreciated and used by all jazz musicians, not only guitarists. Topics covered include: Tensions, Voice Leading Chord Scales, Enharmonic Chordal Substitutions, Fourth Voicings, Chromatic Guide Lines, Triad Over Bass Voicings, and much more! The best part of this book, however, is the unique and practical way the author takes modern harmonic concepts and shows you how to apply them in real music situations! Written for the intermediate to advanced music theory enthusiast who wishes to master this facet of music.

String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.521446 By The La S. Arranged by Sherry Lewis. Contemporary. Score and parts. 26 pages. Sherry Lewis Publishing #6077651. Published by Sherry Lewis Publishing (A0.521446). THERE SHE GOES - The La's String Orchestra of 2 violins, viola, cello and string bass chords (such as Am, G, etc) score: 10 pages parts: 10 page time: 2'50 MY QUARTET VERSIONS, in short notice work fine for solo, two parts and three parts however I also offer individual versions for one, two and three parts that are more detailed for these ensembles. Please visit https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/search?Ntt=sherry+lewis+publishing for all of the titles I offer. If you can’t find a title then contact me through stringquartet@hotmail.com and I’ll give you the link back to Sheet Music Plus’s listing. VERSATILE Titles that include four parts are written with the idea that they can be performed with 1, 2, 3 or 4 musicians. Most of the contemporary/popular titles include a chord chart for a bass instrument. PRACTICE needs would vary according to the level of the performers but my goal is to be sight-readable for most performers and groups. AUDIO SAMPLE The 30 second mp3 is frequently shortened and may not start at the introduction to get to the reprise. The actual introduction will be in the sheet music. LISTENABILITY I have performed thousands of weddings and special events. I make it a goal for the music to carry as well as possible through loud and large space situations. ARRANGEMENTS usually follow the original version. There is an mp3 where you can hear 30 seconds and get a feeling of the originality of the work. EXCELLENT for corporate events, weddings, social gatherings and recitals. APPROPRIATE for students and schools. CHURCH REPERTOIRE I’m always adding more titles. Thank you for your purchase

Easy Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.517906 Composed by Jolea Jensen. Arranged by Arr. Jolea Jensen. Children,Folk,Instructional,Multicultural,Traditional,World. Score. 106 pages. Jolea Jensen #128632. Published by Jolea Jensen (A0.517906). Learn folk songs and singing games from around the world in this early elementary book. This series features a solo melody line accompanied by I, IV, and V7 chords, making it perfect for a general classroom setting or for private lessons. Level One (Book 1, Part 1) begins with basic rhythms (quarter, half, dotted half, and whole) in the keys of C, G, D. Each key begins with several songs in the basic five-finger position, then adds either one note above or one note below, then adds 3/4 time, then adds songs in which the hand is not in the basic five-finger position for that key. Level One (Book 1, Part 2) continues with the keys of A, E, B. Eighth notes are introduced in the key of E. Level One (Book 1, Part 3) contains the keys of F#, Db, and Ab. Level One (Book 1, Part 4) contains the keys of Eb, Bb, and F. I have been teaching several of my students with this book, and they are often eager to begin their lessons by playing their assignment out of this book. The feedback I've received from parents is that their child loves the songs because they are fun and easy to understand. Children often love coloring in the black and white pictures on each page. I hope your students also enjoy these songs. Chamber Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.890767 Composed by Georg Philipp Telemann. Arranged by Sneakwood Editions. Baroque,Classical. Score and parts. 41 pages. Sneakwood Editions #4781035. Published by Sneakwood Editions (A0.890767). Edition based on Ms. D MÜu, ms. 775Score (20 pages) and Parts (friendly performance edition): Violino principale, Violin I, Violin II, Violin III, Viola, Violoncello and Harpsichord. The Violin Concerto in A major (TWV 51:A4), which has come to light only fairly recently, does not take as its musical model the song of the nightingale (as in ‘La Bizarre’ [TWV 55:G2]) or of the goldfinch (Vivaldi), but the croaking of the common frog, also called ‘Reling’ in certain regions of Germany, whence the concerto’s subtitle. Nothing better could be expected of a composer who found inspiration even in crows and in the out-of-tune playing of village musicians! Although this concerto, which the manuscript attributes to Telemann, bears traces of his personal style, other features, such as the exceptionally high solo part, leave room for doubt. At a structurally important point in the first movement the soloist produces no more than a succession of repeated notes, ‘a-a, a-a’, which infect the other parts as well. Of course, this is the vowel that the frog croaks, given a distinctive tone-colour by use of the open A string and stopped D string. But worse is to come. In the second ritornello the orchestral violins ‘forget’ the beginning of their theme, whilst the cello inappropriately pushes its way into the foreground. The setting of the second movement (Adagio), probably a moonlit stretch of shallow water, then audibly inspires a pair of courting frogs to make sweet music together. We are given the opportunity to rejoice in their croaking offspring in the concluding Menuet and its rapid Double. This movement entirely dispenses with concertante sounds of nature and thereby betrays its origins in the suite, where it always takes its accustomed place in Telemann’s music. If we knew that a satirist was at work in this ‘Relinge’ Concerto, someone who was deliberately exhibiting all these deviations from good taste, then we could infer with some certainty that the composer is indeed Telemann. Since his own concertos ‘smack of France’ (as he puts it in his autobiography of 1718), we may most likely credit him with permitting his not at all ‘sullen old heart’ a little joke at the expense of the relevant concertos of a certain Italian composer… – Peter Huth (trans. Introduction, Theme and Variations on "La Cabra Mocha" for Youth Orchestra

Full Orchestra Flute, Oboe, Clarinet in Bb, Bassoon, French Horns in F I and II, Trumpet in Bb, Trombone, Percussion, (Timpani, Glockenspiel), Violin I, Violin II, Viola, Violoncello, Double bass - Advanced - Digital Download SKU: 2S.4251133750706 Composed by Silvano A. Pagliuca-Mena. Jazz. Score and Parts. 46 pages. Soundnotation #4251133750706. Published by Soundnotation (2S.4251133750706). La Cabra Mocha (Full Score) is a Gaita de Furro. Because it belongs to the folklore of Zulia, its origin remains unclear and a dispute over the authorship of the composition currently revolves around Pradelio Hernandez and Jesus Lozano. Although its date of origin is considered equally indefinable for the same reason, its official appearance can be narrowed down to the middle of the 20th century. Probably it's much older, but due to the technological improvements of music recording, the piece became popular only later. La Cabra Mocha is a musical jewel that tells the story of a nation who has a wisdom and finds in music the way to express itself. The history of its transculturation is remarkable, although it also carries contradictions, depending on the way of representing. Sometimes its imposed stereotypes are accepted by society due to a lack of self-knowledge, which ultimately leads to a change of identity, where some elements are transfigured and others are replaced. Arranging a Gaita de Furro for youth orchestra makes sense for the following reasons: First and foremost, the self-knowledge of a society should start from the childhood and should be cultivated and carried on from generation to generation, thereby conserved. Moreover, a lack of a pedagogical act, thus a pedagogical repertoire, is one of the main causes for the ignorance of Venezuelan music. Another important aspect is the transformation or adaptation as a process of maintaining Venezuelan musical culture. Many children already present the intention of the composition by drawing their attention to the formation of the orchestra, which represents a globally unified language as a network of distribution and which is locally independent. Wherever the composition is played - each orchestra will be able to maintain the quality and expressiveness of the piece without hiding its identity. The piece opens with a fanfare introduction of the Cabra Mocha, followed by a drum roll, which reminds of the drummer's traditional reputation and introduces the theme whose chorus is represented by the tutti and its verses by the soli. The first variation consists of a two-bar rhythm and major tonality, full of wit and cunning. The following variation is an Adagio with a three-part rhythm in minor. Then the timpani return to initiate the theme, this time shortened by its Reprise, which finally leads to a polyphonic Codetta. On an interpretative level, the return of variation can be compared with the return of education and thus, to a certain extent, improvisation. This is a very striking factor of traditional music, which is represented as a fitting metaphor in the form of harmonic and rhythmic reference within the composition. Introduccion, Tema y Variaciones sobre la Cabra Mocha was composed in the last weeks of 2012 and won the first prize in the composition competition for the Youth Orchestra of Zulia, which was awarded by the Venezuelan Orchestra in its first edition in 2013. At the beginning of 2014 Silvano Pagliuca-Mena made a small revision of the piece. Silvano Antonio Pagliuca Mena was born on 10 May 1991 in Maracaibo, Venezuela. Despite his Italian and Spanish roots, he has always remained true to his love for the music of his homeland, which is why his compositions always carry Venezuelan impressions, but also influences like academic western music, jazz and popular music.

Voice and piano - Medium - Digital Download SKU: MQ.8492-21E Composed by MeeAe Cecilia Nam and Theodore Gouvy. Instrument part. 5 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8492-21E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8492-21E). French.Gouvy was known for writing some of the most beautiful melodies of the Romantic period. His style is a combination of German forms and an early French romantic harmonic structure. His writing for the piano in the songs is totally unified in mood and description with the voice, just as the piano is in Schubert’s songs. The equal partnership of the vocal line and piano interact closely to bring the poetry vividly into life with unimaginable artistic heights and unbridled passion. This volume includes Gouvy songs set to 18 poems of Philippe Desportes (1546–1606), and 18 poems of Moritz Hartmann (1821–1872). The elements of Romantic love poetry, such as enchanting love and its pain, and the personifying of nature, are fluently described with a great sensitivity in both voice and piano. Gouvy’s melody stir up the imagination because of his special treatment of words through a distinguishable and melodious vocal line, and his story telling and poetic treatment and development of the piano accompaniment. His compositional artistry places him in the upper echelons of art-song composers. One should note that Gouvy had a special fondness for the 16th Century poetry of La Pléiade (a group of Renaissance French poets, led by Pièrre de Ronsard (1524–1585). Desportes was truly the heir to Ronsard; however his work, when compared to that of Ronsard, is filled with greater abstraction and greater fluidity. Desportes seems to avoid any of the passionate anger that is occasionally characteristic of La Pléiade. This may be an indication that Desportes lived in a less distressed time. It also seems necessary to point out that he learned much in his early career by copying and studying the earlier works of La Pléiade. This has led some scholars to label him as a plagiarist, but it is important to realize that all the members of La Pléiade copied from each other when they wished to learn something new, and truly understand the style of the other poets in the group. Gouvy’s only choice of poems from his contemporaries, were the works of Moritz Hartmann (1821–1872), a good friend of Gouvy’s. Much of his poetry was strongly political in support of freedom of the individual. He traveled to Leipzig in 1845, but when the authorities discovered a volume of patriotic poems entitled Kelch und Schwert (Chalice and Sword), he fled to Belgium and France. It is at this time that he possibly met Théodore Gouvy. Eighteen poems of Hartmann were translated from German to French by the French poet, Adolph Larmande, of whom very little is known. Pierre Toussaint Adolphe Larmande seems to have been a rather obscure poet and musician. We know that he taught music theory at the Paris Conservatory at the same time Anton Reicha and Michele Carafa were on the faculty. We also know that in 1847 he married an English woman by the name of Marie Caroline Bradley. There are random documents, such as a Certificate of Arrival in London, England, in 1837, but there are no birth and death dates given, and that includes his obituary notice. Voice and piano - Medium - Digital Download SKU: MQ.8492-34E Composed by MeeAe Cecilia Nam and Theodore Gouvy. Instrument part. 8 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8492-34E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8492-34E). Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1446054 Composed by Christoph Willibald Gluck,. Arranged by Keith Terrett. Classical,Contest,Festival,Historic,Instructional,Opera. 16 pages. Keith Terrett #1025876. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.1446054). Orfeo ed Euridice is an opera composed by Christoph Willibald Gluck, based on the myth of Orpheus and set to a libretto by Ranieri de' Calzabigi. It belongs to the genre of the azione teatrale, meaning an opera on a mythological subject with choruses and dancing. The piece was first performed at the Burgtheater in Vienna on 5 October 1762, in the presence of Empress Maria Theresa. Orfeo ed Euridice is the first of Gluck's reform operas, in which he attempted to replace the abstruse plots and overly complex music of opera seria with a noble simplicity in both the music and the drama. The opera is the most popular of Gluck's works, and was one of the most influential on subsequent German operas. Variations on its plot—the underground rescue mission in which the hero must control, or conceal, his emotions—can be found in Mozart's The Magic Flute, Beethoven's Fidelio, and Wagner's Das Rheingold.Though originally set to an Italian libretto, Orfeo ed Euridice owes much to the genre of French opera, particularly in its use of accompanied recitative and a general absence of vocal virtuosity. Indeed, twelve years after the 1762 premiere, Gluck re-adapted the opera to suit the tastes of a Parisian audience at the Académie Royale de Musique with a libretto by Pierre-Louis Moline. This reworking was given the title Orphée et Eurydice, and several alterations were made in vocal casting and orchestration to suit French tastes.Ther picture is Count Francesco Algarotti, an Italian polymath, philosopher, poet, essayist, anglophile, art critic and art collector. He was a man of broad knowledge, an expert in Newtonianism, architecture and opera. He was a friend of Frederick the Great and leading authors of his times: Voltaire, Jean-Baptiste de Boyer, Marquis d'Argens, Pierre-Louis de Maupertuis and the atheist Julien Offray de La Mettrie. Lord Chesterfield, Thomas Gray, George Lyttelton, Thomas Hollis, Metastasio, Benedict XIV and Heinrich von Brühl were among his correspondents.''The Sicilienne and Rigaudon is one of the many pieces that violin virtuoso Fritz Kreisler composed in the style of other composers. When he first presented and published these pieces, he offered them as recently discovered works by those other composers, newly adapted and arranged by himself. In the case of Sicilienne and Rigaudon, it is eighteenth-century French violinist/composer François Francoeur whose name is on the title sheet, though the piece really has nothing to do with Francoeur's style. The piece is a simple and a charming one, however. The Sicilienne is a binary-form miniature that sweeps along on a characteristic dotted rhythm, with a rather melancholy melody. Think old French ballet. The constant 16th notes of the Rigaudon, give it a character quite unlike that of a traditional rigaudon-a cheerful Baroque dance movement in duple meter.

Cello,Cembalo,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1224544 Composed by Jose Bravo. Baroque,Chamber,Classical,Early Music. 107 pages. Jose Bravo #820650. Published by Jose Bravo (A0.1224544). From the Composer:I committed last year (2022) to review my musical works that have been in digital storage, complete them as necessary, and release them for the world to hear. I finally finished my first work on this list, one that's been on my hard drive in one version or another since 1999 (that's 24 whole years!).Las Follias de España (which despite its name, originally came from Portugal) is a chord progression usually in either D minor or G minor in the form of i-V-i-VII-III-VII-i-V. Composers for the last 500 years have used this chord progression to come up with some fantastic theme and variations, ranging from unaccompanied works, trio sonatas, to even full orchestral implementations. You can spend a looooong time listening to all the beautiful compositions that composers have made over the centuries highlighting this very captivating set of chords.I humbly submit my own version of La Folia in D minor for String Trio and Cembalo (harpsichord). I wrote my first version of this in my senior year of High School as a challenge to myself to write music in a genre I loved. I made updates here and there over the years, but its sat on a hard drive the entire time. It's taken me months to essentially rework it to my satisfaction and has been submitted for copyright. I have uploaded it to YouTube to share with others.BIG SHOUT OUTS to the three composers that inspired me in this work:Corelli: - His version of La Folia is probably the most popular for violinists, especially those that play out of the Suzuki books. I included a modified version of his Folia (Variation 9) in my work (with all other parts being vastly different from his interpretation) as an homage to his work.J.S. Bach - He showed me that music can be as intelligent as it is beautiful. I have two variations inspired by his work. Variation 8 is one that I wrote this year (2023) which I wanted to write for a long time is a variation that showcases the Harpsichord. Bach's keyboard works and unaccompanied violin works inspired me here. Second, Variation 14 I feel has Bach's inspiration all over it. The violin parts are each playing separate distinct melodies in double counterpoint which trade parts on the repeat. The bass line follows a pattern that Bach has employed for the bass on a number of Violin concertos and lastly, the Harpsichord treble part is a mensuration canon based on one of the violin parts, with the keyboard part playing the melody 4x as fast with variations. Lastly on a play of numbers, number 14 was a very special number for Bach, and as a tribute, I've made this the 14th variation in my work. This was also a new variation I added this year (2023) as well.Vivaldi - My first musical love. I feel that I captured a little bit of his musical DNA in all my works and this piece showcases this. Vivaldi's works is what made me fall in love with Baroque music and I am indebted to him for the profound impact his works have had on my life.So here you go. 413 measures. My longest individual work to date. And because I love playing with numbers, I decided to release this to the world on my 41st Year, 3rd month. Enjoy!- Jose Bravo.

Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1315388 By DaCapo Primary Music. By Jane Cutler and Tracey Mathias. Classical,Contemporary,Instructional,Multicultural,Traditional,World. Educational Method. 94 pages. DaCapo Primary Music #904114. Published by DaCapo Primary Music (A0.1315388). This Book Contains 68 songs for the instrumentalist. This new edition of the DaCapo Complete Instrumentalist contains the same material as when first published in 2000, with one big change - many of the songs have been re-worded by our writer in residence, Tracey Mathias, to make them more engaging for very young children.Singing is the foundation of all musical skills. The book concentrates on the building of musicianship, is not clef specific and is therefore suitable for ANY instrument. It has been written on a reduced stave of 1, 2 or 3 lines in order to develop the skill of hearing the music from the page. The songs are classified by their note range, using solfa symbols and handsigns to identify relative pitches. The collection starts with the  so  mi interval and moves progressively to cover the complete major pentatonic scale. These intervals are easier to pitch accurately and you have the added advantage of working in canon. You may find another section more appropriate for the early stages of your instrument. A violinist or cellist may find the  so  do section better as a starting point for example, whilst  la  so might be more comfortable on a fife or recorder. Each section starts with a list of ideas for very simple activities used to teach a song and establish it in the pupil's mind. There follows a variety of more complex and creative ideas which will enhance their musicianship. The activities are at three levels and we suggest that first you learn lots of the songs and then return to them later, tackling some of the more challenging suggestions.Whilst every attempt has been made to research the source material, if you think we have not credited an original song please let us know.We hope that you enjoy becoming a Complete Instrumentalist. Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.917395 Composed by GregoryFritze. 20th Century,Contemporary,Jazz. Score and parts. 195 pages. Musica Nova USA #4805407. Published by Musica Nova USA (A0.917395). La Tomatina was composed in 1996 in Buñol, Spain while I was researching Spanish band music. Buñol is a small town of about 9,000 inhabitants about 19 miles (30 kilometers) from Spain’s 3rd largest city, Valencia. For 364 days of the year, it is a typical small town, but on the last Wednesday of August it becomes an international attraction. On that day the La Tomatina festival is held. Several trucks drop as many as 145,000 kilograms of tomatoes unto the main street and for an hour at 12:00 noon there are up to 100,000 people taking part in throwing tomatoes at each other. At 1:00 everybody goes to the specialpublic showers to wash up. A fire truck comes down the street washing down the buildings and the main street and by about 2:00 all is returned to normal and all references to the tomato fight are gone. Thetradition has been going on since 1945. I was in the streets taking part in throwing tomatoes for three years. After that when I was in Spain during the festival I watched it on TV.Buñol also has a rich tradition of having two very good concert bands – the Litros and the Feos. Most of the 9,000 inhabitants formally belong to one of the two social clubs. There are several band competitionsheld in Spain and both of these bands take part. The band competition is fierce as bragging rights are won by the winning society. It is thought that this fierce competition is what helps develop excellentmusicians in that many young people become professional musicians and play in many orchestras and bands throughout the country.La Tomatina was premiered by the U. S. Army Band Pershing’s Own on the U. S. Capital steps in June 1996, the composer conducting. La Tomatina is the second movement of SinfonÃa de Valencia, a three- movement composition that was premiered in Buñol by the band of Centro Instructivo Musical El Litro Buñol, conducted by Francisco Tamarit in August 1997. SinfonÃa de Valencia is recorded by the band of Centro Instructivo Musical El Litro Buñol, conducted by Fernando Bonete Piqueras on Mark Records (CD3816). La Tomatina is also on Youtube with video of the festival at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbpZU7vK3PQ.La Tomatina was a winning composition in 1996, awarded a grant by the Massachusetts Cultural Council. It also won the IBLA Grand Prize in Sicily, Italy in 1998 and was a Semi Finalist as part of the American Prize Composition Competition – Band Division in 1996.This arrangement of La Tomatina was prepared especially for conductor Natalia Montañés in 2004. In thisarrangement there are four percussionists instead of the original five.La Tomatina has been very popular among bands around the world, performed over one hundred times.
