Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1081578 Composed by Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber. Arranged by Joshua Choe. Baroque,Classical,Sacred. Score and parts. 57 pages. JMJ Arrangements #685700. Published by JMJ Arrangements (A0.1081578). In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. And he came to her and said, 'Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!' But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered in her mind what sort of greeting this might be. And the angel said to her, 'Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there will be no end.' And Mary said to the angel, 'How can this be, since I have no husband?' And the angel said to her, 'The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. And behold, your kinswoman Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. For with God nothing will be impossible.' And Mary said, 'Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.' And the angel departed from her. (Luke 1:26-38 RSV-CE).

The Seven Joys of Mary - String Quartet

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1192354 Composed by Martin Shaw and Percy Dearmer. Arranged by Gayle Gould. 19th Century,Children,Christian,Christmas,Historic. 22 pages. Gayle Gould #791785. Published by Gayle Gould (A0.1192354). A happy and fun string quartet arrangement, approximately Grade 4, of a popular early-American Christmas carol originating in England, with sources placing it at various dates and locales. Given the cultural setting, and given the popularity of country dances, no doubt at least the children danced to this tune. The carol is also known by the name The First Good Thing That Mary Had, which is the first line of text.PDF contains the full score, individual parts, and a piano reduction provided to give a quick idea of what the arrangement sounds like. The number of verses varies, but one thing is for certain. It's purpose was to teach the story of the Virgin Mary from the birth of Jesus until His glorification in heaven. There are at least seven verses, each one telling Mary's experiences through the life of Christ. No doubt this was used to teach children and others who did not have or could not read the Scriptures.

Choral Choir,Choral,SATB Chorus - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1465866 Composed by James F. Linzey and Lowell Mason. 21st Century,Chamber,Patriotic,Religious,Sacred. 4 pages. Military Bible Association #1044463. Published by Military Bible Association (A0.1465866). The History of the United States Marine Corps and the Marine Corps HymnOn November 10, 1775, the Second Continental Congress passed a resolution to establish the Continental Marines. is marked the formation of the United States Marine Corps. The Marine Corps was provided two battalions with a fleet. But the Treaty of Paris in April 1783 ended the Marine Corps along with the Revolutionary War. It was later permanently re-established on July 11, 1798. Since then the United States Marine Corps has been involved in the War of 1812, defending Washington in Bladensburg, Maryland, fighting for Andrew Jackson against the British in New Orleans, and fighting in the Mexican War (1846-1848) in which US Marines fought all the way to the Halls of Montezuma, Mexico City. The Marines served in the Civil War (1861-1865), the Spanish-American War (1898), the Philippine Insurrection (1899-1902), the Boxer Rebellion in China (1900), and World War I. The Marines were later involved in World War II, the Korean conflict beginning in 1950, and the Vietnam conflict, beginning in 1965. By the 1970s, the Marines were securing NATO, and later were involved in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm (1990s), Somalia (1992), Operation Enduring Freedom (2001), the Global War on Terrorism and Operation Iraqi Freedom (2002), and in various conflicts since then. Since the inception of the Marine Corps in 1775,about 70,000 Marines have been killed in action. James Linzey served as a chaplain for the Marines in training at Fort Lee, Virginia, and as a contract chaplain at the Airman-Marine Memorial Chapel at MCAS Miramar from 2016-2019. While at Miramar, he gave leadership seminars to the Marines on the Battle of Midway. He is one of ten children of World War II hero, the late Navy Captain Stanford E. Linzey, Jr., CHC, USN (Ret.), who survived the sinking of the USS Yorktown (CV-5) in the Battle of Midway as a sailor, and later served with the Marines in Okinawa as a chaplain. Since the Marine Corps is part of the Department of the Navy, it has used the Navy hymn in chapel services. What is called “The Marine’s Hymn” cannot be sung in chapel services, because it is not a song of praise. As a fighting march, its author called it a hymn in name only. So, in commemoration of the United States Marine Corps, hymn writer James F. Linzey wrote the United States Marine Corps Hymn, “Serving for Thee.” He set it to the tune of Bethany, which was written by Lowell Mason in 1841. James Linzey is the General Editor of the New Tyndale Version (NTV) Bible translation.

Small Ensemble Cello,Double Bass,Saxophone,Viola,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.938331 Composed by Dr Anthony Costandius. Christian,Contemporary,Sacred. Score and parts. 72 pages. Anthony Costandius Music #14899. Published by Anthony Costandius Music (A0.938331). A piece for solo Alto Saxophone and String Orchestra. The church was made a cathedral in 1564 when the city was granted its bishopric. The cathedral was built on the site of the Aljama Mosque in the first third of the 14th century. The name of this structure, El Salvador Cathedral, literally means the Cathedral of the Transfiguration. The cathedral has three portals: the Puerta de las Cardenas (Portal of the Chains, 14th century) is in Islamic style, the Puerta de Loreto (mid-15th century) is Gothic, and Puerta de la Anunciación (Portal of the Annunciation, built in 1588 by Juan Inglés), which has a Renaissance-style triumphal arch-shape. Part 1: Introitis. The saxophone mimics a chant based on the metre of the Introitis: Rorate, caeli, desuper, et nubes pluant iustum: aperiatur terra, et germinet Salvatorem (Bedew us, heavens, from above; ye clouds, rain down the Just One. Let the earth be opened up, and produce the Saviour. The intervals 1 (tonic), 5 (dominant), 6 (super-dominant) and 4 (subdominant), based on the year 1564 referred to in the section above, are used as the basis for the harmony progression for the string section. Part 2: Puerta de las Cardenas Acts 12:3–19 says that Peter was put into prison by King Herod, but the night before his trial an angel appeared to him, and told him to leave. Peter's chains fell off, and he followed the angel out of prison, thinking it was a vision (verse 9). The prison doors opened of their own accord, and the angel led Peter into the city. The visit from the angel, release from the chains and the prison, as well as the journey into the city is expressed against the background of the Islamic design of the portal, hence the referral to Arabian rhythms and scales in the music. Part 3: Puerta de Loreto The Puerta de Loreto is of gothic design. Loreto refers to the Italian city of Loreto in the province of Ancona. It is said that the holy house where the Mother Mary lived in Nazareth was translated miraculously to Loreto on December 19, 1294 - more than 700 years ago. The house did not go straight to Loreto, but in the year 1291 it was miraculously transported from Nazareth to the town of Tersatto in Dalmatia (Croatia). The local population, filled with astonishment, did not know how to explain its sudden appearance. Their Bishop, who was gravely ill, now appeared in their midst cured. He had prayed to the Virgin Mary that he might be strong enough to see the prodigy for himself, and the Mother of God appeared to him, surrounded by Angels, saying: My son, you have called for me, and here I am. I came to give you succor and to reveal to you the mystery [of the translation of the Holy House] you desire to know. The holy dwelling is the very house where I was born and raised. It was there that I received the good news brought by the Archangel Gabriel and I conceived the Divine Infant by the operation of the Holy Ghost. It was there that the Word was made flesh... For you to bear witness to all that I am telling you now, you will suddenly be cured and return to full health after the long illness you have borne, so that through you all will believe in this miracle. Part 4: Puerta de la Anunciación The Annunciation is the Christian celebration of the announcement by the angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary that she would conceive and become the mother of Jesus, the Son of God, marking his Incarnation. Gabriel told Mary to name her son Jesus, meaning Saviour. Part 5: Exit The work ends with a re-interpretation of the first section, the Introitis. This is to bind the work together, but also to again reflect on the text, as stated: Rorate, caeli, desuper, et nubes pluant iustum: a periatur terra, et germinet Salvatorem, and to comtemplate how that gives meaning to the being, essence and history of the Catedral de Orihuela.

Schubert seems to have composed this piece as a song-setting. This is because he wanted to portray a poignant emotional event from a poem. The poem was Walter Scott's The Lady of the Lake. Consequently, this song became an integral part of Schubert's Song cycle. Therefore the cycle is called: the Lady of the Lake. In the poem, Ellen Douglas is the Lady of the Lake. The lake is probably Loch Katrine in the Scottish Highlands. First of all, Ellen goes with her father to stay in the Goblin's cave. They go because he earlier refused to join in a rebellion against King James. Roderick Dhu, the chief of the rebellious Alpine Clan, marches up the mountain with his army. But before the battle, he, first of all, hears Ellen singing. She is singing a prayer calling for help from the Virgin Mary. Schubert's piece was first performed at the castle of Countess Sophie Weissenwolff in Steyregg, Austria.  Schubert dedicated the arrangement to her, and as a result, she became famous as the lady of the lake. The incipit of Ellen's song is Ave Maria which is Latin for Hail Mary. It seems like this similarity led Schubert to adapt the melody to accommodate the Roman Catholic prayer Ave Maria. Consequently, the Latin version of Ave Maria finally became more famous than the original so that consequently many believe he wrote the Latin version first. Schubert Franz Schubert (1797–1828) was, in fact, a famous Austrian composer. Moreover, he composed during the late Classical and early Romantic periods. Schubert was comparatively prolific. He wrote more than 600 secular vocal works, seven symphonies, and, correspondingly, a massive amount of piano and chamber music. Critics agree, as a matter of fact, that his most famous works include his Piano Quintet in A major, D. 667 (also known as the Trout Quintet), the Symphony No. 8 in B minor, D. 759 (Unfinished Symphony), the last sonatas for piano (D. 958–960), and the song cycles Die schöne Müllerin (D. 795) and Winterreise (D. 911). Education Schubert was furthermore a musical child prodigy. He studied violin with his father as well as piano with his older brother. In addition, when Schubert was eleven he studied at Stadtkonvikt school, where he became familiar with the orchestral music of Haydn, Mozart, and likewise Beethoven. In due time he left school and returned home where he studied to become an educator; nevertheless, he continued studying composition with Antonio Salieri. Performance Eventually, Schubert was admitted to the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde as a performer. This appointment straightaway established his name in Vienna as a composer and pianist. Finally, he gave his only composition recital in 1828. He died suddenly a few months later probably due to typhoid fever. Legacy Schubert’s music was by and large underappreciated while he was alive. There were all in all only a few enthusiasts in Vienna. After he died, however, interest in his work in fact increased. Felix Mendelssohn, Robert Schumann, Franz Liszt, Johannes Brahms and other famous composers in due time discovered his compositions. Nowadays, historians rank Schubert expressly among the greatest composers of the era, and his music remains in general very popular.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1490206 By Cascia Talbert. By Franz Schubert. Arranged by Cascia Talbert. Christian,Classical,Praise & Worship,Religious,Spiritual. Score. 7 pages. Cascia Talbert #1067042. Published by Cascia Talbert (A0.1490206). Ellens dritter Gesang (Ellen's Song III, D. 839, Op. 52, No. 6, 1825), known in English as Ellen's Third Song, was composed by Franz Schubert in 1825. It is part of his Op. 52, a collection of seven songs inspired by Walter Scott's 1810 narrative poem The Lady of the Lake, which was loosely translated into German. This piece is among Schubert's most beloved works. Although it was originally composed as a song, it is frequently performed and recorded under the title Ave Maria. This title references the Latin name of the prayer Hail Mary, which is also the opening phrase and refrain of Ellen's song—a prayer to the Virgin Mary. Performances often feature simplified musical arrangements and various lyrics that deviate from the original poem. Franz Liszt arranged the piece in three versions for piano.Schubert's composition is based on verse XXIX from Canto Three of Scott's poem, translated into German by Adam Storck (1780–1822). It is part of Schubert's Liederzyklus vom Fräulein vom See. In Scott's narrative, Ellen Douglas, the Lady of the Lake (Loch Katrine in the Scottish Highlands), seeks refuge with her exiled father in the Goblin's Cave, avoiding their previous host, Roderick Dhu, who has chosen to rebel against King James. As Roderick Dhu and his warriors ascend the mountain, he hears Ellen, accompanied by the harpist Allan-bane, singing a prayer to the Virgin Mary, pleading for help. Roderick Dhu pauses momentarily before heading into battle. The song is said to have been first performed at the castle of Countess Sophie Weissenwolff in Steyregg, Austria, and was dedicated to her, earning her the nickname the lady of the lake. The repeated use of Ave Maria in Ellen's song likely inspired the adaptation of Schubert's melody to fit the full text of the traditional Roman Catholic prayer Ave Maria. This adaptation has become so widespread that it often leads to the mistaken belief that Schubert originally composed the melody specifically for the Ave Maria prayer. This arrangement is for low voice and piano.
