He is a member of the ACME roster of Mu Phi Epsilon, recognized for distinguished achievement as a composer. One unique aspect of Hoover’s work is when he combines composition with his paintings, creating synergetic art that intrigues and captivate audiences and performers alike. His paintings are seen in exhibitions and in concerts where his paintings are projected while musicians perform his music. Hoover’s background as a performer includes both classical and jazz music, as saxophonist and conductor. His book The Arts and Society: Making New Worlds is published by Kendall Hunt Publishing.Hoover was born on September 11, 1959, in Anderson, Indiana. Joseph Pugh #6410323. Published by Joseph Pugh (A0.855176). This hymn was probably written in 1771, as it is in Conyers's Collection of Psalms and Hymns, 1772, in 7 stanzas of 4 lines. It was republished in the Olney Hymns, 1779, Bk. i., No. 79, with the heading Praise for the Fountain opened. It is based on Zech. xiii. 1, In that day there shall be a Fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness. This hymn in full or abbreviated is in extensive use in all English-speaking countries.A well known form of this hymn is From Calvary's Cross a Fountain flows. This appeared in Cotterill's Selection, 8th ed., 1819, No. 43, in 5 stanzas of 4 lines, and consists of stanzas i.-v. very much altered. In Bickersteth's Christian Psalmody, 1833, No. 49, that same opening stanza is given, with a return, in most of the remaining six stanzas, to the original text. The question as to by whom these alterations were made, first in Cotterill's Selection off 1819, and then in Bickersteth's Christian Psalmody, 1833, is answered by R. W. Dibdin, in the Christian Annotator, vol. iii., No. 76, for July 5, 1856, p. 278

David Fraserâ??s third composition is â??Sonata No.1 Gothicâ??, dedicated to Sergei Prokofiev, not as a representation of this genre of music, but in form. Specifically, Fraser uses a similar structure in Movement 1, starting at Measure 72 marked â??più mosso e con abbandonoâ?, to the notoriously difficult â??colossaleâ? section of Prokofievâ??s â??Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 16â??, Movement 1. The sonataâ??s Movement 3 also follows a structure parallel to Movement 4 of Prokofievâ??s aforementioned piano concerto, employing fiendishly challenging syncopated jumps in both hands. Written in ternary form, Movements 1 and 3 of Fraserâ??s sonata are in C minor; Movement 2 is in E-flat minor, instead of the expected relative or dominant key. This work has explosive sentiments of rage that elicit a sense of immensity and darkness, touching on the macabre yet maintaining an alluring nature. The inspiration for the second movement comes from the German fairy tale Hansel and Gretel by the Brothers Grimm. The music begins with Hansel and Gretel walking into the witchâ??s house made of gingerbread, cake, and candy. The children have a sense of unease and fright once they enter the house, which is demonstrated in the music by the eeriness and darkness of the harmonies. The term oscuro is found at the beginning of the music â?? this is the Italian word for dark. The repeat, which begins at measure 25, is marked sempre sotto voce which translates to always under the voice, meaning always in a hushed tonal quality and dynamic volume. This section represents the children trying to tip-toe out of the house without the witch taking notice. The repeat is almost identical to the beginning section, with the exception of measures 39 and 40 which have ties in the right hand; the similar measures 15 and 16 in the first section do not have these ties. The right-hand trills in measures 53 through 55 symbolize the children attempting to quietly turn a key to unlock the door, which would lead them to freedom.This is the full version of the Sonata, containing all three movements, and is the third piece from 'Hommages: Suite pour le Piano'. 39 pages. Baruch HaBa is hebrew for Blessed is He who Comes... (in the name of the LORD). This is a quote from Psalm 118:26 - (Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the LORD). This is also what the people were quoting when they welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem in Matthew 21:9. Later, in Matthew 23:38, as Jesus laments of Jerusalem he uses this same phrase, saying Behold, your house is being left to you desolate! 39 For I say to you, from now on you will not see Me until you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ So this was after they had already welcomed him, and now I guess are about to betray Him. Some people thinks this means Jesus will not return the 2nd time til the Jewish people say Blessed is Jesus who comes in the name of the LORD! So this song celebrates Jesus first coming, and invites his next coming.

This work is based on the Gregorian chant used during the first and second weeks of Advent in the liturgical calendar. The text, from Isaiah 45:8, expresses the longing of the earth for the righteous and, in particular, for the coming of the Saviour. Time signatures vary from 4/4 to 3/4 depending on the inner rhythms of the text, as in chant. The translation of the Latin text is as follows: Drop down dew, Ye heavens from above, and let the clouds rain down the Just One. Be not angry, oh Lord, and remember no longer our iniquity.
