Guitar,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.877821 Composed by Deborah Johnson. Contemporary,Film/TV,Multicultural,New Age,World. Score and part. 6 pages. Deborah Johnson #33185. Published by Deborah Johnson (A0.877821). Times Five piano solo offers a captivating and melodious piano solo skillfully arranged at a medium intermediate level. Featured in the Wayfarer’s Journey album by Deborah Johnson, this composition introduces new classically-inspired piano and instrumental solos. Reminiscent of a Bartók composition, Times Five evokes a similar musical ambiance, showcasing an intricate and dynamic melody. Tailored for special occasions and events, Times Five spans 7 pages, encompassing the piano solo, guitar chords, and a cover. It’s characterized by its unique 5/4 time signature, belonging to the quintuple meter—rare in European concert music before the 20th century but more prevalent in various world cultures. The 5/4 time signature of Times Five embodies a division of beats as 3+2, creating a distinctive rhythmic pattern (1-2-3,1-2, with accents on the 1), characteristic of compound meters. Understanding and identifying this metrical pattern within the bars enriches the appreciation of the piece's rhythmic complexity. This unique time signature adds depth and richness to the composition, offering a captivating musical experience ideal for diverse special occasions. Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1026726 Composed by Jesse Holan. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary. Score. 2 pages. Jesse Holan Enterprises #6359533. Published by Jesse Holan Enterprises (A0.1026726). Fives is a piano vignette (short, museful composition) written in the fall of 2019 using principles of design. Throughout this piece, I use rhythm, emphasis, and contrast to spotlight the notes E and F by alternating between them exactly five times, followed by a single rest, and then repeating twice as fast and twice as loud with octave displacements. The unevenness of five tosses weight between E and F in a new way with each cycle without losing focus.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.971642 Composed by Jeffrey Hoover. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score. 45 pages. Musicart Publications #4276221. Published by Musicart Publications (A0.971642). In five movements. 16 piano solo. 18 min. 30 sec. with poetic narration. Score, 53 pages. For solo piano, with optional poems, paintings, and movement. In The Magician, each movement is based on the development of a single sound, idea, or process. The work also possesses cyclic material; musical ideas that are carried to successive movements and are further transformed in a new context. As with other works by Jeffrey Hoover, the music of The Magician is connected to other artworks - paintings and poems (and sometimes dance/movement) also created by the composer. In the music and connected art forms, the ideas of creative energy and transformation are explored in sound, images, words, and movement.Jeffrey Hoover's work- music ranging from soloist to symphony orchestra -has received recognition through the prestigious Trieste prize, the Luigi Russolo composition, awards from Mu Phi Epsilon, the Lancaster Fine Arts Festival, grants, publications fellowships, and more than 20 commissions. He is a member of the ACME roster of Mu Phi Epsilon, recognized for distinguished achievement as a composer. One unique aspect of Hoover’s work is when he combines composition with his paintings, creating synergetic art that intrigues and captivate audiences and performers alike. His paintings are seen in exhibitions and in concerts where his paintings are projected while musicians perform his music. Whether making interdisciplinary works, or traditional stand-alone sonic or visual art, Hoover shapes his work through inner vision and practical experience. Jeffrey Hoover’s background as a performer includes both classical and jazz music, as saxophonist and conductor. His book The Arts and Society: Making New Worlds is published by Kendall Hunt Publishing. Jeffrey Hoover was born on September 11, 1959, in Anderson, Indiana. He holds a Ph.D. in Fine Arts (Composition and Interdisciplinary Fine Arts) from Texas Tech University, as well as a M.M. and Bch.Sc. from Ball State University. His career in higher education has included both music faculty and arts administrative appointments.

Easy piano solo version for beginners arranged by Leah Ginzburg A Minuet, sometimes spelled Menuet or Menuett, is a social dance of French origin from around the 1660s, usually in 3/4 time. The minuet was to 18th century ballrooms what the Waltz would be in the 19th century, the enduring Queen of dances. The Quadrille is a dance that was fashionable in late 18th- and 19th-century Europe and its colonies. The quadrille consists of a chain of four to six contredanses.

Published by Sibylle Kuder (A0.1034433). Light, gently swaying, twirling around itself, ever so slightly melancholic. ~ Of the performer it requires the ability to play a quick written-out quintuplet turn in the right hand which occurs numerous times throughout the piece but is the same every time. The performer needs a delicate but not wimpy touch and a mature feel for subtle shading. ~ Three pages, Intermediate, Level 7 ~ The PDF file contains two versions of the score, a study score with slightly larger font, lots of dynamic details, fingering, spread out over five pages with lots of white space to allow for adding comments, and a performance score condensed onto three pages to fit on the average music stand, smaller font, no details, just the notes. ~ I frequently make changes to my compositions. Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.693014 Composed by Ben Dockery. 20th Century,Contemporary,Jazz,Standards. Score. 3 pages. Ben Dockery #3381217. Published by Ben Dockery (A0.693014). This intermediate meditation for piano (3 min) is the fifth in a set of twelve. It is, perhaps, the most impressionist piece I've ever written. Its lush and sometimes dissonant harmonies contrast with the sparkles of light that glimmer throughout. A tender, sensitive interpretation is required. The form is a short five-part rondo: ABACA. The A sections alternate in compound meter and are entirely modal. Both the B and C section switch to common time and have chorale style textures. Be sure to prepare dissonances and resolve suspensions with proper voicing, balance, and a sense of rubato. Sustain pedal should be used throughout.Find more of my music at www.bendockery.com. Hanon Piano / Keyboard Exercises 1 - 30 Condensed and Simplified for Beginners Easy Reading

(+)
Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.887255 Composed by Charles-Louis Hanon. Arranged by Martin Woodward. Instructional. Score. 37 pages. Martin Woodward #6513221. Published by Martin Woodward (A0.887255). Hanon Piano / Keyboard Exercises 1 - 30Condensed and Simplified for Beginners Easy ReadingIn this short book you will find condensed and simplified versions of the Hanon piano finger exercises 1 - 30 as well as the major, harmonic minor and melodic minor scales in every key (two octaves). What is Hanon? The ‘Hanon Virtuoso Pianist’ is a collection of piano finger exercises designed to give equal strength, agility and flexibility to all five fingers of both hands. Written by Charles-Louis Hanon sometime in the 1800s, these exercises without doubt have become one of the most widely used techniques by today’s pianists. In my opinion these are the best finger exercises available. One really great thing about these exercises is that they are applicable to both absolute beginners and advanced players alike, particularly as the reading ability required is minimal. Whatever your ability, these exercises will help improve your technique and finger strength. Having been written well over 100 years ago, the original work is now in the public domain and therefore digital copies can be acquired free of charge on the internet. However, most of these are very poor quality and the instructions are mainly in French or Russian - neither of which work too well for me! For the full version I personally recommend the ‘Alfred’ Edition edited by Allan Small which is clear and has instructions in English. So why do I need this book? The whole point is to make it easy to read and to reduce page turns - less is more! In the full version the first 30 exercises take up fifty pages whereas here there are three exercises per page for the first 20, then two per page for the next 10, reducing the fifty pages to just twelve. I initially produced this for my own use only but figured that others may like to take advantage of what I’ve done. Does this mean that the print is just smaller? No, not at all. If you are familiar with these exercises you will know that they are repeated patterns which ascend and descend for two octaves diatonically. To condense and simplify them and consequently eliminate an enormous amount of page turns I have shown: the all-important fingering on the first pattern (as per the original)then the repeated second patternthen ‘changeover’ patterns between ascending and descending - which are sometimes slightly differentthen finally the last pattern of each exercise which again is often very slightly different. I have also written them two octaves apart (for easy reading) and only shown them for one octave instead of two. In practice they should be played one octave apart and ultimately be practiced for two octaves. You can print out any or all the pages as required (the link for the pdf printable version is given at the end of the book). Please see: https://learn-keyboard.co.uk/hanon.html

Piano,Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792716 Composed by Nathaniel Cleophas Davis. Arranged by Aaron Hettinga. 20th Century,Folk,Jazz,Ragtime. Score and part. 9 pages. Gordon Cherry #5984291. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792716). Mr. Trombonology by African American composer, trombonist, bandleader and publisher Nathaniel Cleophas Shorty Davis was written in 1917 as a Trombone solo in the American genre of Ragtime featuring the trombone's patented glissando as the hook. These solos were also called smears or jazzes. Mr. Trombonology is one of five entertaining works from Davis' Trombone Family written between 1915 and 1921 and comes with the subtitle - A Characteristic Trombone Smear. The Son of Oh Slip It Man. The work even comes with a shout-out chorus page of music for those times when you want to get the crowd all pepped up! Perfect for school shows, etc. This arrangement has been beautifully arranged by Aaron Hettinga for Trombone and Piano. It is playable by moderately advanced performers. Cherry Classics Music will be publishing the complete series of these works for Trombone and Piano by Davis arranged by Mr. Hettinga. Thanks to Douglas Yeo for his research and advice.

Idylls - five songs for solo high voice (soprano or tenor) and piano, based upon poems by Alfred, Lo

High Voice,Vocal Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.835449 Composed by Stuart Brown. 20th Century,Contemporary,Spiritual. 37 pages. Stuart Brown Music #4285583. Published by Stuart Brown Music (A0.835449). If you are looking for a genuinely beautiful and rewarding work for solo voice and piano, to fill a 20-minute time slot, then Idylls is for you. It provides an opportunity for both singer and pianist to demonstrate an ability to communicate a wide range of emotions. It is particularly satisfying for the pianist, whose part is anything but subservient to the vocal line and provides an opportunity to shine. At notated tempo the work lasts just under 18 minutes; the concert première performance (in January 2019) lasted just short of 20 minutes because of the slower tempo at which the performers chose to take the fourth song. While intended primarily for the concert platform, Idylls contains some profoundly Christian themes that may make it suitable also for church use in an appropriate context.Although intended for professional use, Idylls may be within the technical capability of advanced high school students, noting that the third song ('Of old sat Freedom on the heights') has a piano part that was described as 'challenging' by the professional pianist who first performed it in public (Jonathan Ellis, January 12th, 2019).As noted above, Idylls can work for church services in various contexts, although not all of the songs are necessarily appropriate to the same context. The lyrics themselves provide the best guidance in this respect. From observing the rehearsal sessions of the two professionals who first performed the work (Chen Wang and Jonathan Ellis), the composer suggests that none of the songs - however apparently straightforward - should be taken for granted. There are nuances in all of them that require careful attention to timing and pitch. The vocal entries in the opening song require careful attention to pitch. In the second song concentrate on the timing and making it sound as light and dance-like as possible. The third song requires the singer to keep an E-flat in mind at all times (in order to pitch entries) and to sing to strict meter regardless of what the pianist is playing. The fourth song requires both grace and intensity. Pitch is the main issue, particularly some of the B-natural entries; pay special attention to timing in the first verse. The fifth and final song is melodically straightforward; pay attention to timing in the second verse.Stuart Brown composed Idylls in early 2015 specifically for the London-based Chinese soprano Chen Wang. She performed it in public for the first time, accompanied by Manchester-based pianist Jonathan Ellis, at a concert in the southwest of England in January 2019.Performing rights are handled in the UK by PRS for Music, in Canada by SOCAN, in the USA by ASCAP, BMI and SESAC. The full list of arrangements can be found at www.prsformusic.com/our-global-network/partnersAll contact and other information (including lyrics) can be found on the composer's website at https://stuartbrownmusic.com/discover-11.html

Flute,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549473 Composed by Alexander Scriabin. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Concert,Instructional,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. Score and part. 12 pages. Jmsgu3 #3499833. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549473). Score: 8 pages, solo part: 2 pages, piano part: 2 pages. Duration: 3:10. An introspective and meditative work with a lot of dynamic and phrasing nuance. Works well for church meditations or recital encores.BackgroundOp.11/2 Alto Clarinet version. First of all, Scriabin composed mostly for the solo piano and also the orchestra. This is probably because he was a gifted pianist and therefore certainly appreciated the piano. Scriabin grew up in the late Romantic period, consequently, he was fond of the great piano masters of the time. As a result, he wrote his first noteworthy compositions in the manner of Chopin and Liszt.FormsLikewise, Scriabin used many of the same forms as Chopin. These certainly include the étude, prelude, nocturne, and even the mazurka. In contrast, as he developed his own sense of style his music became more and more unusual. So, the last five of his Piano Sonatas do not have a key signature and therefore lean towards atonality.PhilosophyScriabin also developed a keen interest in philosophy and likewise poetry. He was above all particularly fascinated by Nietzsche, Delville, and Blavatsky. Consequently, he finally established his own ideas about metaphysics and certainly mysticism. Scriabin consequently advanced theories about the relationship between color and musical keys.SynesthesiaHe also may have experienced a condition called synesthesia where he could probably sense a response created from a different stimulus. Therefore, it was almost as if he could see music and hear colors. Scriabin, therefore, arranged the colors in a circle similar to the circle-of-fifths and assigned each key area a color. Finally, he assigned the key of C to the color red, while the key of G was orange. Similarly, he assigned D to yellow, A to green, and so forth. Strangely, he did not differentiate between major and minor key colors. MultimediaHence, his ability to translate colors into music certainly gave Scriabin a most noteworthy interest in creating multimedia events. Furthermore, He designed his biggest work, the Mysterium, to last an entire week. Even more, Scriabin made plans not only for music, but also colored lights, incense, and dancing. He designed the performance to occur in the foothills of the Himalaya mountains. The Mysterium was never performed, and only sketches of the work remain.Modern PerformancesIn modern times, we often experience performances of Scriabin’s most famous completed works accompanied by colored laser lights and incense. These are the Poem of Ecstasy (completed in 1908) and the Poem of Fire (completed in 1910). The lighting effects for these early performances were accomplished by the clavier à lumiéres. It was a keyboard instrument that projected colored light onto a screen.
