?What is This Lovely Fragrance?? (?Quelle est cette odeur agréable??) is a 17th-century French traditional Noël (carol) about the Nativity of Christ. The melody accompanying its lyrics, a folk tune, was used by John Gay (1685?1732) in his satirical work, The Beggar's Opera (1728). It is this tune to which the text, calling the shepherds to the manger, is typically set. What is this lovely fragrance wafting like to the scents of flow'rs in spring? / Shepherds, O tell us, whence such beauty, hear you not heav'nly carolling? / What is this lovely fragrance wafting like to the scents of flow'rs in spring? Thisintermediate level arrangement is suitablefor advanced high school to professional ensembles for use inconcert, recital, and worship. Piano Trio - Advanced - Digital Download Composed by 15th Century Traditional, 17th Century Traditional, 19th Century Traditional, Adolphe Adam. Arranged by Graham Yates. Contemporary Classical, Christian, Blues, Christmas, Pop. Score, Set of Parts. 29 pages. Published by Graham Yates
A medley of four Christmas carols of French Origin: Noël nouvelet (Sing We Now of Christmas), Un flambeau, Jeanette, Isabelle (Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabelle), Il est né, le divin enfant (He Is Born, the Holy Child), and Minuit, chrétiens (O Holy Night). Arranged as a "fantasy-sonata" the first movement is driving, the second is a sweet lilting waltz, the third is a lighthearted take on the melody that alternates between "jaunty" and "solemn" (briefly employing bitonal harmonization) before launching into a blues variation. The finale is a "slow R&B" reimagining of O Holy Night that can be thought of somewhat as the love ballad reprise at the end of a Disney movie.

The trio lasts 9 minutes, and is suitable as a prelude or postlude for a church service or as part of a holiday recital. The difficulty is advanced, though the writing is simple enough that it should be able to be put together with minimal rehearsal time.

For more information, please contact graham.yates@gmail.com

Composer's web store: https://www.sounded.us/baseline/product/merry-dont-you-know-by-david-ahrens-wind-band/“God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen†is a traditional English Christmas carol dating to the mid 17th Century. It was referenced by Charles Dickens in his 1843 novella “A Christmas Carol†but with the lyric:“God bless you, Merry Gentleman!May nothing you dismay!â€The phrase “God rest you merry†historically meant “may God grant you peace and happinessâ€. “Rest you merry†was used both in Shakespeare’s “As You Like It†and “Romeo and Julietâ€. Over time, there has been confusion over this title due to changes in common language usage. The word ‘merry’ is an adverb of rest and not an adjective of Gentlemen.“Pat-A-Pan†is a traditional Burgundian French Christmas carol written by Bernard de La Monnoye and published in 1720. The text calls for the bringing of a drum and flute to play for newborn Jesus Christ in worship. The title is onomatopoeic for the sound of a drum, as is the additional lyric “tu-re-lu-re-lu†for the sound of a flute.“Yigdal†is a Jewish hymn and prayer that is a poetic adaptation of Maimonides’ 13 principles of faith. The text is attributed to 14th century poet Daniel ben Judah. The melody dates to the 17th century or earlier. It is traditionally sung for morning prayer and as the conclusion of Shabbat evening services. Upon hearing Yigdal, English Methodist Thomas Olivers adapted this melody for use in his Christian hymn “The God of Abraham Praiseâ€, which is a paraphrase of the ben Judah doxology, and was first published in 1772.“Merry! Don’t You Know?†is a playful melding of these sacred songs, acting as a reminder that Christmas is a time to be merry and joyful as we celebrate the nature, power, and love of God.

America (My Country, 'Tis of Thee) ? brass quintet

Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Todd Marchand. Fourth of July, Patriotic, Americana. Score, Set of Parts. 9 pages. Published by Con Spirito Music (S0.181897). - Score,Set of Parts - Fourth of July,Patriotic,Americana - Con Spirito Music
Although ?America? (aka ?My Country, ?Tis of Thee?) has been a beloved anthem in the US for nearly two centuries, its origin is not American at all, and it is not unique to America as a patriotic song. Sometimes attributed to British writer/musician Henry Carey (c. 1685-1743), the tune likely dates to the 17th century or earlier and has also been attributed to the English composer John Bull, the French composer Jean-Baptiste Lully, and even a Swiss military melody. It was published in England in the 1744 tune book, Thesaurus Musicus, and it gained immediate and lasting popularity when, with the words ?God Save the King,? it was performed in September 1745 at London's Drury Lane and Covent Garden theaters in support of King George II. Eventually, the tune became the national anthem not only of Britain, but of several other nations, including Denmark, Prussia, and Liechtenstein. After the American colonies became independent from England, a variety of new patriotic texts were written to be sung to the tune. In 1831, Samuel F. Smith, a student at Massachusetts? Andover Theological Seminary, wrote the lyrics today known as ?My Country, ?Tis of Thee.? Smith's words and the traditional tune were one of several unofficial national anthems of the United States during the 19th and early 20th centuries. This attractively harmonized, contemporary setting of a long-lived traditional tune will be a favorite of both performers and listeners at patriotic observances. ©Copyright 2015, revised 2020 Todd Marchand / www.ConSpiritoMusic.com

C Instrument - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1317675 Composed by Public Domain. Arranged by Marcelo Borba. Children,Christmas,Classical,Country,Traditional. Lead Sheet / Fake Book. 1 pages. Marcelo Borba #906351. Published by Marcelo Borba (A0.1317675). This is an arrangement for leadsheet style. Sheet music contains chords and melody. It can be played by different instrumental formations. The First Noel is a traditional Christmas carol that tells the story of the birth of Jesus Christ. The word Noel itself is derived from the French word Noël, meaning Christmas or the Christmas season. The song is believed to have originated in the 16th or 17th century, and its exact authorship is unknown. It has been passed down through generations and has become a popular Christmas hymn. The lyrics of The First Noel typically describe the joyous announcement of the birth of Jesus by angels to shepherds in the fields. The shepherds are guided by a bright star to Bethlehem, where they find the baby Jesus lying in a manger. The lyrics emphasize the significance of the event and the adoration of the shepherds for the newborn Christ. Here are the first few lines of the song:The first Noel, the angels did say, Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay; In fields where they lay keeping their sheep, On a cold winter's night that was so deep. The song is often sung in a reverent and celebratory manner, capturing the spirit of Christmas and the joyous occasion of Jesus' birth. It has been recorded by numerous artists and is a staple in many Christmas carol collections.
