This piccolo trumpet classic is arranged here for brass quintet: Piccolo Trumpet (optional C-Trumpet part included); B-flat Trumpet (optional C-Trumpet part included); Horn; Trombone; and Tuba. This makes a great Christmas or Easter brass feature, or a fantastic companion piece to the Canadian Brass arrangement of Piazzolla's Libertango (same instrumentation). A slow five measure introduction is followed immediately by the lively third movement. The B-flat Trumpet part and Horn part are definitely challenging, but well within the wheelhouse of most college players. The trombone has a high b-flat, but is otherwise not technically demanding and the tuba part is easily manageable.

This is probably the most famous of Torelli's trumpet concertos, of which he wrote many. The string parts in this arrangement (as well as the harpsichord part) are as enjoyable to play as the trumpet part. There are three movements. Enjoy! Duration: 8 minutes, 47 seconds.

Its first performance by Franz Clement was unsuccessful and for some decades the work languished in obscurity, until revived in 1844. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.802677). Born in Venice, Marcello was the son of a senator. As such, he enjoyed a comfortable life that gave him the scope to pursue his interest in music. He was a contemporary of Tomaso Albinoni. He held concerts in his hometown and also composed and published several sets of concertos, including six concertos under the title of La Cetra (The Lyre), as well as cantatas, arias, canzonets, and violin sonatas. Marcello, being a slightly older contemporary of Antonio Vivaldi, often composed under the pseudonym Eterio Stinfalico, his name as a member of the celebrated Arcadian Academy (Pontificia Accademia degli Arcadi). He died in Padua in 1747.Alessandro's brother was the more well-known Benedetto Marcello, also a composer.Although most of his works are infrequently performed today, Marcello is regarded as a very competent composer. His La Cetra concertos are unusual for their wind solo parts, concision and use of counterpoint within a broadly Vivaldian style, according to Grove, placing them as a last outpost of the classic Venetian Baroque concerto.[citation needed]The Concerto for Oboe and Strings in D minor op. 1, S D935, is an early 18th-century concerto for oboe, strings and continuo. Perhaps his best-known work. Its worth was affirmed by Johann Sebastian Bach who transcribed it for harpsichord (BWV 974). A number of editions have been published, including an edition in C minor because the baroque oboe played a whole tone lower than the modern oboe.Here is a take on brass instruments, with a basic or an advanced version for the euphonium soloist. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.1044252). The Concerto in D minor by Alessandro Marcello (brother of Benedetto) is an early 18th-century work originally for oboe, strings, and continuo. The earliest surviving manuscript is actually a keyboard arrangement by J.S. Bach, BWV 974 from around 1715. The work was first published under the composer's name in 1717 in Amsterdam as a Concerto a Cinque (concerto in five parts). Keith Terrett has skillfully arranged this gorgeous 8-minute work of three movements (Fast-Slow-Fast) for brass quintet featuring the 1st Trumpet as the soloist (for Trumpet in D). He has also added some embellishments in the Baroque style. This arrangement is appropriate for advanced performers and is scored for Trumpet in D, Trumpet in C, Horn, Trombone, and Tuba.

Originally the Violin Concerto in E major, D.53, Guiseppe Tartini’s concerto was transcribed for the piccolo trumpet by Maurice André and has remained a popular repertoire choice for trumpet players ever since. All three movements of the work are here arranged in the key of Eb (not D!) for piccolo trumpet in Bb and wind band (including 2 flute parts, oboe, bassoon, 3 clarinets, bass clarinet, 2 alto saxes, tenor sax, bari sax, 2 trumpets, 2 horns, 2 trombones, BC and TC euphonium, tuba, and timpani). Performance time is generally around 10 or 11 minutes. Please note that the parts for the accompanying ensemble are at an early intermediate level, as indicated on this page, but the solo part for piccolo trumpet is very challenging.

The Oboe Concerto in D minor, S D935, is an early 18th-century concerto for oboe, strings and continuo attributed to the Venetian composer Alessandro Marcello. The earliest extant manuscript containing Johann Sebastian Bach's solo keyboard arrangement of the concerto, BWV 974, dates from around 1715.Bach's keyboard version was published as an arrangement of a concerto by Antonio Vivaldi in the 19th century. In 1923 the C minor version of the oboe concerto was published as a composition by Benedetto Marcello, Alessandro's brother. In the second half of the 20th century several publications indicated Alessandro again as the composer of the piece, as it had been in its early 18th-century print, and the oboe concerto was again published in its D minor version.This easy arrangement for trumpet with piano accompaniment of the marvelous second movement (adagio) of the concerto is suitable for any occasion.

Il concerto per pianoforte e orchestra n. 20, KV 466, è una composizione di Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, completata il 10 febbraio1785 a Vienna.Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart finì di comporre il Concerto per pianoforte e orchestra n. 20 in re minore K 466 il 10 febbraio 1785. Il giorno successivo lo eseguì come solista a Vienna in uno dei suoi concerti per abbonamento che, a quel tempo, avevano molto richiamo. Narra la leggenda che Mozart distribuì agli orchestrali le copie appena trascritte dell'ultimo movimento, al momento stesso di andare in scena. Il concerto si svolse nella sala Mehlgrube e vi parteciparono anche il padre Leopold, appositamente venuto da Salisburgo.L'Andante del secondo tempo è una romanza in 2/2 in forma ABACA. Come fa spesso, qui Mozart gioca di contrasti, espliciti e mascherati. Il primo contrasto è con il carattere del movimento che lo ha preceduto. Nell'inizio del secondo movimento il tema è sereno, apparentemente idilliaco e la tonalitàsolare (Si bemolle maggiore) lo conferma. È il tempo scelto (2/2) che ci fornisce il primo indizio sulle intenzioni dell'autore. A differenza di altri pezzi di grande lirismo il tempo non è un morbido ternario (3/4, 6/8), né un 4/4 con il suo respiro ampio ed il suo alternarsi di battere forti e smussati, ma un marziale 2/2. Il tema principale viene esposto dal solista, ripreso poco dopo dall'orchestra, passa dall'una all'altro con la solita maestria orchestrale mozartiana. Il secondo tema si presenta immediatamente con un salto di ottava ed intervalli ampi si ritrovano in tutto il suo svolgimento. È questo espediente più volte iterato che Mozart usa per costruire tensioni armoniche in crescendo che portano al minore e ad atmosfere giàdistanti dal primo tema. Con grazia sorprendente Mozart torna quindi sul primo tema per la seconda sezione. La terza sezione tematica precipita in minore, e questa volta con una serie di scale forsennate che richiamano alcuni passaggi dello sviluppo del primo movimento. Gli accordi verticali in forte (bisogneràaspettare Beethoven per i primi fortissimo) marcano di brusche fermate e riprese il rincorrersi delle scale. Un arpeggio rallentato e un arabesco riportano al tema principale che chiude questa pagina in un finto clima di riconciliazione, aprendo al frenetico finale.

This is an arrangement for solo trumpet and symphonic wind band of the complete Haydn trumpet concerto. The band parts are mostly of intermediate difficulty (with some strong players needed in the clarinets) and many alternate options are provided to cover missing instruments (see notes on first page) – the piece can effectively be performed with 4 flutes, 2 horns, 2 trumpets and a full clarinet section (minimum 8 plus 1 bass clarinet). On the other hand, a larger band, if kept within reasonable limits, allows the soloist to play freely and without getting covered. Only the low brass gets a rest to stay within the character of the original work.
