Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 5 - SKU: A0.1295745 Composed by Sergei Rachmaninoff. Arranged by Charles Decker. Opera,Romantic Period. 18 pages. Gordon Cherry #886045. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.1295745). Aleko, by Sergei Rachmaninoff, an early composition from 1892 is a one act tragic opera based on a poem by Alexander Pushkin called The Gypsies. The opera was a graduation work for the Moscow Conservatory, winning the highest prizes from the judges that year. Although the music is heavily influenced by the great Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff shows that he is quite capable of walking in his own shoes. The dramatic music Two Dances has been beautifully arranged by Charles Decker for traditional Brass Quintet (Trumpet I in B-flat/Piccolo Trumpet, Trumpet II in B-flat, Horn, Trombone and Tuba.) The music is appropriate for advanced performers and is about 6-minutes in length.

Large Ensemble Bassoon,Clarinet,Double Bass,Horn,Oboe,Piccolo - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1038136 Composed by Bela Bartok. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Classical,Folk. Score and parts. 46 pages. RayThompsonMusic #643066. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1038136). The complete set arranged wind dectet and bass Romanian Folk Dances Sz. 56, BB 68 is a suite of six short piano pieces composed by Béla Bartók in 1915. He later orchestrated it for small ensemble in 1917 as Sz. 68, BB 76. It is based on seven Romanian tunes from Transylvania, originally played on fiddle or shepherd's flute. The original name for the piece was titled Romanian Folk Dances from Hungary but was later changed by Bartók when Transylvania became part of Romania in 1920. It is nowadays available in the 1971 edition which is written with key signatures although Bartók rarely ever used key signatures. This set of dances consists of six movements and, according to the composer, it should take four minutes and three seconds to perform, but most professional pianists take up to five minutes. The list of the movements is as follows (with the original Hungarian title listed first, the most commonly known Romanian title second, and the English translation in parentheses): Bot tánc / Jocul cu bâtă (Stick Dance)The melody of the first movement, according to Bartók, came from the Mezőszabad (present-day Voiniceni) village that was part of Mezőcsávás (present-day Ceuașu de Câmpie) commune which was located in the Maros-Tordaadministrative county within Transylvania, and he first heard it when two gypsy violinists were playing it. Brâul (Sash Dance)The second movement is a typical dance from Romania called Brâul, for which traditionally a sash or a waistband was used. This melody came from Egres (present-day Igriș), in the Banat region. Topogó / Pe loc (In One Spot)The third dance comes also from Egres (Igriș), but its theme is much darker and its melody recreates Middle Eastern instruments, such as the flute.[4] Bucsumà tánc / Buciumeana (Dance from Bucsum)The fourth dance came from Bucsony, Alsó-Fehér County (today Bucium, Alba county in Romania) Román polka / Poarga Românească (Romanian Polka)The fifth dance is an old Romanian dance similar to the Polka and comes from Belényes (present-day Beiuş, in Bihor county), near the border between Hungary and Romania. Aprózó / Mărunțel (Fast Dance)The sixth and last dance is formed by two different melodies: the first one comes from Belényes (present-day Beiuș) and the second one comes from the then named Nyagra (present-day Neagra) village within the Palotailva (present-day Lunca Bradului) commune. Both on the orchestral version and on the original piano version, the final two dances are performed attacca-without a break between movements.

Cello,Piano - Level 2 - SKU: A0.1227711 Composed by Various and compiled by Michael Praetorius (1612). Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Instructional,Renaissance. Score and part. 17 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #823673. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.1227711). Dances from Terpsichore (Michael Praetorius)These are eleven of the most well-known dances of the Renaissance, selected from the famous collection entitled Terpsichore, pubished in 1612 by Michael Praetorius. They are sure to be a welcome addition to the elementary cellist’s repertoire. Some of them can be played in first position. The highest note is the “F†above the bass clef which occurs in only two of the pieces. By the time Michael Praetorius published his dance collection, he was one of the most famous musicians in Germany. The name is pronounced “terp-SI-cory†and rhymes with the word “hickoryâ€. The original publication consisted of 312 dances in four, five and six parts. Although the dances were probably conceived for string ensemble Praetorius was well aware that in practice, they would be played by any instruments that happened to be available. These arrangements for cello and keyboard are based on the original 1612 publication. The music sounds more authentic using a harpsichord rather than a piano, or the harpsichord sound of a digital keyboard. The keyboard part may be interpreted quite freely with ornamentation added as appropriate. During the Renaissance, it was common practice to combine separate dances to create something of more substantial duration. A similar practice is used in these arrangements which are as follows: 1. Three Gavottes; 2. Two Ballets; 3. Two Bourées; 4. Two Courantes and 5. Two Voltas. The audio sample contains numbers 1, 2, 3 and 5.

Small Ensemble - Level 2 - SKU: A0.522187 Composed by Tielman Susato. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Christmas,Holiday,Renaissance. Score and parts. 26 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #6371719. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522187). The instrumental music of the renaissance is enjoying an enormous revival and this arrangement of two dances is sure to brighten up your musical event. The dances come from one of the earliest collections of instrumental dance music, published in Antwerp in 1551 by Tielman (or Tylman) Susato and entitled Danserye. Little is known of Susato’s life except that he was born sometime between 1500 and 1515 and eventually became a successful calligrapher and publisher. Danserye contains about sixty numbers some of which have become well known since their revival in the middle of the 20th century. The two rondes in this arrangement are the first and sixth dances taken from a set of nine. Some of the dances have names and the first ronde is entitled Pour quoy? It is paired with the sixth ronde which has become one of the most well-known pieces in the collection. Several changes have been made to the inner parts to facilitate performance and the first ronde has been transposed down a fifth. Musicians would often combine several dances to make a more substantial piece and were expected to add embellishments to the melody, particularly in repeated sections. In the spirit of the original, this four-part arrangement uses flexible instrumentation so that you have total control over the instrumental voicing. The arrangement could be played by virtually any combination of conventional wind instruments. This 4-part arrangement is presented in a single PDF file which includes the Full Score; Part 1 (C, B flat, E flat); Part 2 (C, B flat, E flat); Part 3 (C, F, B flat, E flat), Part 4 (C, B flat, E flat); Keyboard and Percussion. The optional keyboard and percussion parts are the additions of the arranger and do not appear in the original. This arrangement uses conventional percussion that can be found in any elementary school music room. The percussion parts may be interpreted freely and additional instruments added if required.

Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522159). By the time Michael Praetorius published his extensive dance collection entitled Terpsichore (terp-SIH-cory) in 1612, he was one of the most famous musicians in Germany. These Two Ballets are well-known and elegant dances and sure to add some sparkle to any concert event. They would make excellent partners for other dances in this series. This piece is arranged for virtually any combination of conventional wind instruments and percussion, with optional keyboard part.In this series, Renaissance Hits for Wind Instruments, some of the most well-known dances from Terpsichore are included. They are all attractive pieces and are sure to be popular at any concerts or end-of-semester events. They are fairly easy to play too. The flexible arrangement makes them playable by all sorts of non-standard ensembles. The keyboard part enables you to use the piece as a solo or duet and trio for mixed instruments. This 4-part arrangement is presented in a single PDF file which includes the Full Score; Part 1 (C, B flat, E flat); Part 2 (C, B flat, E flat); Part 3 (C, F, B flat, E flat), Part 4 (C, B flat, E flat); Keyboard and Percussion. The optional keyboard part is intended as a guide and when possible the keyboard player should improvise around the part and chords shown. A piano sounds distinctly out of place in this music and a digital or acoustic harpsichord sounds more authentic. Most electronic keyboards have a harpsichord option. The percussion instruments used are similar to those found in elementary school music rooms and usually include a small bass drum or hand-held drum, clave or small headless tambourine. Two players are usually required and the parts can be interpreted quite freely. Dance music is intended to be fun, and we hope that this arrangement brings you just that. Â

String Ensemble - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1018135 Composed by Pierre Phalèse. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Renaissance. Score and parts. 18 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #623720. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.1018135). Following from the success of the Hits of the Renaissance for Strings, featuring well-known dances from Terpsichore by Michael Praetorius, this arrangement is from another classic book of dances from the same period. Pierre Phalèse (1510-1575) was a Flemish publisher and his First Book of Dances, an extensive collection of dances in four parts, was published in Leuven in 1571. They are attractive pieces and are sure to be popular at any concerts, public recitals or end-of-semester events. This arrangement is for virtually any string ensemble and the single PDF file includes a full score and parts for violin 1, violin 2, viola (violin 3), cello and bass (combined), keyboard and simple percussion. Two additional melody part are provided in the treble and bass clefs and the chords (for optional guitar) are shown in both keyboard and cello-bass parts. In the spirit of the original publication of 1571, you can add to the melody line any other C-pitch instruments that happen to be available. Even the additional of a couple of recorders will enhance the sound. Alternatively, you can do opposite and create a pleasing contrast by omitting instruments for certain sections. The audio demo will give you an idea how this might be achieved. While you can add flute, recorder, oboe, glockenspiel or whatever you want, additional instruments are not essential but can add contrasting tone colour. The keyboard part is intended as a guide and when possible, the keyboard player should feel free to improvise around the part and the chords shown. A piano is distinctly out of place in this music and a digital or acoustic harpsichord sounds more authentic. Most electronic keyboards have a harpsichord option. The optional percussion instruments used are similar to those found in elementary school music rooms and usually include a tambour or hand-held drum, antique (finger) cymbals, wood-blocks and tambourine. Two or three players can be used and the parts can be interpreted quite freely. Dance music is intended to be fun, and we hope that this arrangement brings you just that.

The percussion instruments used are similar to those found in elementary school music rooms and usually include a hand-held drum, clave or small headless tambourine. Two players are usually required and the parts can be interpreted quite freely. Other percussion instruments may be added as desired. Dance music is intended to be fun, and we hope that this arrangement brings you just that. Â

Classical,Contest,Festival,Historic,Instructional,Renaissance. 29 pages. Charles Decker Music Press #6644309. Published by Charles Decker Music Press (A0.817168). They may be 500 years old, but these three Renaissance instrumental dances from Tillman Susato's 1551 collection The Third Little Music Book, prefaced with to be played on all types of musical instruments, remain appealing music for audiences and performers. These lively popular dances of the day feature homophonic setting, root position chords, primary beat stresses, and individual parts that encompass an octave or less which makes them very accessible for young or inexperienced musicians. Scoring them for two antiphonal brass quartets, each with two B-flat trumpets and two trombones with alternate substitute horn parts, creates a memorable aural and visual performance experience. Beyond brass programs or special events, feature the brass section of your band or orchestra with this lively work on your next concert. The recording is of the entire edition.See 50+ homogeneous brass editions for trumpet, horn and trombone ensembles and 75+ mixed brass ensemble publications with Charles Decker Music Press at Sheet Music Plus for inexperienced to advanced musicians with music ranging from the Renaissance to contemporary new works for trios, quartets, quintets, brass choir and brass band. String Orchestra - Level 2 - SKU: A0.522223 Composed by Anonymous. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Instructional,Renaissance. Score and parts. 20 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #3915085. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522223). Les Courantes are two well-known dances from Terpsichore by Michael Praetorius. They have been arranged for strings, keyboard, optional guitar, recorder or any C-pitched instruments and simple percussion. In this series, Renaissance Hits for Strings, some of the most well-known dances from Terpsichore are included. They are all attractive pieces and are sure to be popular at any concerts or end-of-semester events. They are fairly easy to play too and the flexible instrumentation allows any players to take a solo with the melody part. They can be played by string quartet, string orchestra or ideally string ensemble plus any other C-pitch instruments that happen to be available. This publication consists of a score showing the four-part ensemble, keyboard and percussion parts. There are separate parts for violin 1, violin 2, viola (violin 3), cello/bass, percussion and keyboard. Additional instruments are not essential but they add contrasting tone colour. The keyboard part is intended as a guide and when possible the keyboard player should improvise around the part and chords shown. A piano sounds distinctly out of place in this music and a digital or acoustic harpsichord sounds more authentic. Most electronic keyboards have a harpsichord option.Every instrumental part (except percussion) also shows the melody line. This allows anyone to take a solo and play the melody, while the other players remain tacet. Solos can be decided in advance and the parts marked accordingly. Just cross out what you don’t need! The percussion instruments used are similar to those found in elementary school music rooms and usually include a tambour or hand-held drum, clave or small headless tambourine. Two players are usually required and the parts can be interpreted quite freely. Dance music is intended to be fun, and we hope that this arrangement brings you just that. Â

Published by Music Preparation Services (A0.908399). Three Country Dances (Two Guitars)By Ludwig van BeethovenArranged by John M. LicariMusic Preparation Services www.musicprepservices.com The Ländler is a folk dance in 3/4 time which was popular in Austria, Bavaria, German Switzerland, and Slovenia at the end of the 18th century. It is a partner dance which strongly features hopping and stamping. It might be purely instrumental or have a vocal part, sometimes featuring yodeling. This arrangement takes three of Beethoven's dances from two sources - Six Ländler (WoO 15) and Seven Ländler (WoO11) - and arranges them for two intermediate guitar players.

Orchestra, choir and 4 soloists ad. lib. - SKU: S9.Q21225 From the opera The Midsummer Marriage. Composed by Sir Michael Tippett. This edition: study score. Choral music - Ernst Eulenburg - Score. Eulenburg Miniature Scores. Downloadable, Study score. Duration 29 minutes. Ernst Eulenburg & Co. GmbH - Digital #Q21225. Published by Ernst Eulenburg & Co. GmbH - Digital (S9.Q21225). English • German • French.Tippett’s decision to extract the four Ritual Dances from his opera 'The Midsummer Marriage' as a self-contained concert suite reflects the fact that the medium of dance was always present in his conception of the opera. From the start, there was to be an interaction within the opera between the real world and the world of mythology, partly Greek, partly Celtic. This mythological element culminates, in the finished opera, in the 'Ritual Dances' of Acts 2 and 3. Tippett himself described his opera as ‘a kind of elaborate 'L’après midi d’un faune’, in which the 'Ritual Dances' display a powerful sexual energy, though of a very different kind from Debussy’s voluptuous langour. Composition of The Midsummer Marriage occupied Tippett for six years from 1946 to 1952. The first performance of the Ritual Dances as a concert suite was given in Basel on 13 February 1953 by the Basel Kammerorchester conducted by Paul Sacher, and preceded the premiere of the complete opera by two years. Today the Ritual Dances rival the Concerto for Double String Orchestra (ETP 1331) as Tippett’s most widely-performed orchestral work.

Published by Sneakwood Editions (A0.890779). Georg Philipp Telemann – Polish Dances from the Rostock Manuscript TWV 45 (Danse d`Polones / Danse Polonie)Telemann was seduced by Polish music, especially by his dances and popular musicI became acquainted there and also in Krakau with Polish and Moravian music in its true, barbaric beauty […] […] it is impossible to imagine the fantastic musical ideas they presented between dances when the dancers rested and the musicians improvised music together [‘jammed’] to fill out the time. Anyone who paid very close attention could pick up in 8 days sufficient musical ideas to last a lifetime.(Telemann’s autobiography, published in Mattheson’s Ehren-Pforte, Hamburg, 1740)It is easy to understand, through Telemann’s own words, the great influence that Polish music and Polish dances had on Telemann. It was in 1705 when Telemann become Kapellmeister for the court of Count Erdmann II of Promnitz at Sorau (now Żary, in Poland), His career there was cut short in early 1706 by the hostilities of the Great Northern War but his contact with Polish music marked him for life. These Polish dances found in Rostock are a reflection of the music that Telemann heard and transcribed. A reflection of that barbaric beauty. The manuscript was discovered in 1986 at the University of Rostock. It consists of two volumes. One of the volumes contains the violin part and the other the bass part.
