French Horn,Piano - Level 3 - SKU: A0.617751 Composed by Gary Lanier, Lowell Mason, Traditional, and William H. Doane. Arranged by Gary Lanier. Sacred. Score and part. 41 pages. The Lanier Company #6049169. Published by The Lanier Company (A0.617751). 3 ONE MOVEMENT HYMN SONATAS is a musical work created by Gary Lanier for Horn in F and Piano. It includes three of our most cherished Hymns: (1) Amazing Grace, (2) Take My Life and Let It Be, and (3) To God Be the Glory. The theme is one of God's Grace, the Christian's response to what He has done for us, and God's Love, all seen through His Son, Jesus Christ. The word, sonata is used by the composer/arranger because of the many ways the hymn tunes are presented and developed through: motifs, secondary themes, variation, repetition, recapitulation and other compositional devices. 3 ONE MOVEMENT HYMN SONATAS is perfect for Church services, recitals or gatherings where hymns of God's grace, His love and our praise to Him is desired. The score, including cover and instrumental parts is 41 pages long. All three for the price of two.

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1226321 Composed by Giovanni Gabrieli. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Chamber,Contest,Early Music,Festival,Historic,Renaissance. 48 pages. Jmsgu3 #822323. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1226321). Minimum instrumentation: 3 Brass Quartets - 6 trumpets in C (or cornets) 3 French Horns in F, and 3 trombones. InnovationsGabrieli preferred sacred vocal and certainly instrumental music. Hence, he concentrated on music that consequently took advantage of resonance and likewise reverberation for maximum effect. Seems like Gabrieli may have invented dynamics – or was rather the first to indicate them such as in his Sonata Pian’ e Forte. Consequently, he was also a pioneer in spatial techniques. He therefore developed and used very specific notation to indicate instrumentation. Gabrieli experimented with assembling massive instrumental forces into isolated groups separated by space. In this way, he consequently contributed heavily to the Baroque Concertato style.Polychoral WorksGabrieli probably used the layout of the San Marco church for his experiments. This is because he worked there as a musician and composer. Furthermore, the church had two choir lofts facing each other. He certainly used these to create striking spatial effects between instrumental forces. Certainly, many of his works are composed such that a choir or instrumental group could first be heard on one side, then consequently followed by a response from the group on the other side. Sometimes there was probably a third group positioned near the main altar as well.Spatial MusicAbove all, Gabrieli studied carefully detailed groups of instruments and singers. Furthermore, it seems like he created precise directions for instrumentation rather than two groups. The instruments, because they could be appropriately situated, could consequently be heard with perfect clearness at distant locations. As a result, arrangements that seem bizarre on paper, can in contrast sound perfectly in balance.First WorksFinally, Gabrieli published his first motets along with his uncle Andrea's compositions in Concerti (1587). These compositions furthermore indicate considerable usage of dialogue and echo effects. Consequently, here we see low and high choirs with the variance between their ranges indicated by instrumental accompaniment. Seems like Gabrieli’s later motets Sacrae Symphoniae (1597) move away from close antiphony. In contrast, he moves towards not simply echoing the material but developing it through sequential choral entrances. Even more, he takes this procedure to the extreme in the Motet Omnes Gentes. Unlike earlier works, here the instruments are certainly an essential part of the presentation. Also, only parts marked: Capella are supposed to be sung.HomophonyHence, after 1605, Gabrieli moves to a much more homophonic style. He writes sections purely for instruments – which calls Sinfonia – and smaller sections for vocal soloists, accompanied by a basso continuo.

Brass Quintet Cornet,Euphonium,Flugelhorn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1139644 Composed by Claudio Monteverdi. Arranged by Richard Decker. Baroque,Chamber,Multicultural,Renaissance,World. 55 pages. Charles Decker Music Press #739914. Published by Charles Decker Music Press (A0.1139644). As one of the most creative composers leading the musical changes from the Renaissance into the Baroque, Claudio Monteverdi instilled into his noteworthy Madrigals not only the contemporary explorations of dissonance and form but also mastered the art of tone-painting of human emotions to an extraordinary level. Scored for a brass quintet of two B-flat trumpet with alternate C trumpet parts, horn in F with substitute flugelhorn part, trombone and tuba, these Madrigal arrangements provide an additional unique opportunity for performances using all conical brass instruments (two B-flat cornets, horn, euphonium and tuba). These spirited Madrigals showcase all the quintet members and will add excitement and drama to performances. See more than 70 mixed brass ensemble publications with Charles Decker Music Press at Sheet Music Plus for inexperienced to advanced musicians with music ranging from the Renaissance to contemporary new works for trios, quartets, quintets, brass choir and brass band. Many of the mixed brass ensemble editions include alternate and substitute parts being alternate C trumpet parts for B-flat trumpet parts, flugelhorn/trumpet substitute for horn, horn substitute for trombone and treble clef euphonium substitute for trombone. RayThompsonMusic #704855. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1101479). Arranged wind quintet. Original Horn Part in C Basso (natural horn part for authentic sound) Alternative horn in F provided. The Wind Trio for two Oboes and English Horn in C major, Op. 87 is a trio composition by Ludwig van Beethoven written in 1794, shortly after he arrived Vienna. Because amateur performers would gather in unusual permutations of players, this Trio was quickly arranged for many other combinations of instruments: versions exist for two violins and bass line, two flutes and viola, two clarinets and bassoon, as a sonata for violin and piano, and in various piano settings. In 1806, Beethoven approved an arrangement (not by him) for two violins and viola, which was published that year. It was assigned the misleadingly-high opus number of 87, which would seem to place it near the Seventh Symphony; in fact, this music was written before Beethoven had published his Opus 1.

Published by Robert Newth (A0.845657). The two Cherubini Horn Sonatas are excellent examples of short pieces from the late classical era. This arrangement of the shorter first sonata preserves the solo horn part, and is accompanied by the other four woodwind quintet instruments. The flute part is quite low but this is to make sure the focus is always on the horn soloist. The PDF download contains a full score and all five parts: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet in Bb, Solo Horn in F, and Bassoon. If you like this arrangement, please consider leaving a review!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rChvP-P0LUA

Brass Quintet Euphonium,Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - SKU: A0.840947 Composed by Hans Leo Hassler. Arranged by Richard Decker. Chamber,Early Music,Multicultural,Renaissance,World. 62 pages. Charles Decker Music Press #447653. Published by Charles Decker Music Press (A0.840947). Hans Leo Hassler (1562-1612) was truly a Renaissance man. Not only was he a noted composer of sacred (Roman Catholic and Protestant) and secular music both instrumental and vocal, but he was also a talented organist, Kappelmeister in various churches and cities, music businessman and additionally involved in the construction and manufacture of mechanical musical instruments. Though spending most of his professional life in German (Augsburg, Nuremburg and Dresden), Hassler studied with Andrea Gabrieli in Venice alongside fellow student Giovanni Gabrieli. These three vocal works highlight his integration of the leading compositional styles of the time including his foray into significant chromaticism in his Ad Dominum, cum tribularer. Brass quintets will find these three vocal transcriptions a welcome addition to the literature and concert repertoire. The arrangement is scored for two B-flat trumpets with optional C trumpet parts, horn in F, trombone and tuba. The recording is of the entire edition.See more than 70 mixed brass ensemble publications with Charles Decker Music Press at Sheet Music Plus for inexperienced to advanced musicians with music ranging from the Renaissance to contemporary new works for trios, quartets, quintets, brass choir and brass band. Charles Decker Music Press #6711831. Published by Charles Decker Music Press (A0.817182). A contemporary of the famous Heinrich Schütz, Andreas Hammerschmidt was a prolific composer of both German church and instrumental music in the mid-17th century. Taken from two of his instrumental collections written between 1636-1639, this eclectic Baroque Dance Suite (Paduan, Aria, Galliard, Courente, Mascharada) written in the tradition of English influenced suites from northern and central Germany provides plenty of solo lines for all of the players. If you are looking for that early music option for your recital program Centone II will give your program a dynamic start. The edition is arranged for a brass quintet of two B-flat trumpets with alternate C trumpet parts, horn in F, trombone and tuba. Paul Peuerl, German composer and organist, was not only instrumental in developing the variation suite of dance movements, but also one of the few German composers in the Late Renaissance to compose Italianate instrumental canzons. Three motets and one canzon make up this engaging Centone. The brass quintet arrangement is scored for two B-flat trumpets with alternate C trumpet parts, horn in F, trombone and tuba. French Horn Solo - Level 5 - SKU: A0.912494 Composed by Thomas R. Schadl. Classical,Contemporary. Individual part. 3 pages. Thomas R. Schadl #3877233. Published by Thomas R. Schadl (A0.912494). Written in two movements for trumpet, horn in F and organ, the work starts with a slower introduction that is written in the key of B major, the dominant key of E major. Moreover, the first movement has imitative passages that are present in all the three instruments. Following the first movement that is written in the 4/4 time, the next movement, composed in the 6/8 time and in E major, is performed gracefully in a style of a pastorale. Like the previous movement, the second part is contrapuntal but it differs in its extensive use of the dialogue between the horn and trumpet. In performing the sonata, there should be balance among the brass instruments and the organ in regard to sound intensity and the speed. The trumpet tends to overpower the horn in passages marked f or louder, and the organist may adjust the registrations to keep the sound from overpowering the other two instruments. If this piece were to be performed in large concert halls or churches, the time that takes air to leave the organ chest to the pipes may be longer. Choice of speed should be rehearsed carefully. The organ registration itself is merely a suggestion and should not be taken too literally due to the design of the organ and the acoustics of the hall or church. Sonata For Trumpet, Horn And Organ is suitable for concert use. This work may be performed at any time of the year, especially Christmas, Post-Easter and general use.

(Alt Horn in F provided) The Wind Trio for two Oboes and English Horn in C major, Op. I have now arranged all the movements for wind quintet.

Brass Ensemble Cornet,Horn,Trombone - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1227819 Composed by Giovanni Gabrieli. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Chamber,Contest,Early Music,Festival,Renaissance,Traditional. Score and Parts. 44 pages. Jmsgu3 #823781. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1227819). Minimum instrumentation: 4 cornets in Bb, 4 French Horms in F, 2 Trombones. See also arrangement à 12 which includes 2 Bass Trombones.InnovationsGabrieli preferred sacred vocal and certainly instrumental music.

These 'Church Sonatas' were originally intended for performance in church by two violins with the organ as 'basso continuo' reinforced by the bass viol. These types of work are sometimes known as 'Trio Sonatas' but, because there normally are two people playing the continuo part, there are usually four players in all.The seventh sonata has three movements, with the tempo markings Allegro, Grave, and Allegro.

Brass Quintet Euphonium,Flugelhorn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1050020 Composed by Robert Nathaniel Dett. Arranged by Richard Decker. 20th Century,Contest,Festival,Multicultural,Spiritual,World. 23 pages. Charles Decker Music Press #654420. Published by Charles Decker Music Press (A0.1050020). Early 20th century Canadian-American composer, conductor and pianist Robert Nathaniel Dett's Listen to the Lambs choral anthem combines his neo-romantic style and advocacy for spirituals in this engaging arrangement for brass quintet. Director of the Hampton Institute, Dett developed the college's choir with his compositions and conducting into one of the leading choirs in the nation. Always looking to improve his compositional capabilities, Dett studied with notable teachers such as composer Arthur Foote at Harvard, was the first African-American to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Oberlin Conservatory in composition and piano in 1908 and received an Honorary Masters Degree in 1932 from the Eastman School of Music. This brass quintet arrangement is scored for two B-flat trumpets (alternate C trumpet parts included), horn in F (alternate flugelhorn substitute part), trombone and tuba. The recording is of the entire edition. “The Music of Black Composers Series is a welcome and timely addition to the brass repertoire. Interesting music, expertly arranged, fun to perform, and well received by audiences. These pieces are now permanently in my quintet book and I will be using them with my student groups as well. Highly recommended!† Wesley Nance, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Eastman School of Music“I was so pleased to see the great works arranged for brass ensemble by Charles Decker Music Press especially the Music of Black Composers’ Series.
