About the Composer and the song: Grenet was born in Cuba on June 12, 1893 and died on November 4, 1950. He was a pianist, composer and arranger. He composed music for music magazines and movies. He is also the author of famous pieces of Cuban dance music. In 1927, the premiere of the zarzuela La Niña Rita, or La Habana de 1830 was presented at the Teatro Regina, with music by Grenet and Ernesto Lecuona. From this zarzuela, Grenet's song, the tango-congo 'Ay, Mama Inés', became popular and continues to be so today.

Armando Manzanero Canché (Ticul, Yucatán, December 7, 1935), is a Grammy-winning Mexican singer-songwriter, musician, composer and music producer. After 'Adoro', one of the most remembered songs by Armando Manzanero is 'Contigo Aprendi', which tells us about all the beauty that the love of his partner has brought to his life. He has written more than 400 songs, of which more than 50 have achieved international fame, such as 'Somos novios' and 'Esta tarde vi llover'. He has participated in numerous radio and television programs, has recorded more than 30 albums and set many films to music.

Farrés was born in 1903 in the small city of Quemado de Güines, Las Villas, Cuba. Although unable to read or write music, he became a prolific and world-renowned composer. His songs include Quizás, Quizás, Quizás, Acércate Más, Tres Palabras, Toda Una Vida and his own favorite Madrecita written in honor of his mother and sung to this day in Latin America on Mother's Day. His songs have been performed and recorded by stars such as Doris Day, Nat King Cole, Natalie Cole, Eydie Gorme, Pedro Vargas, Raquel Bitton, Charles Aznavour, Luis Miguel, Maurice Chevalier, Sara Montiel, Olga Guillot, John Serry Sr., Cake[1][2] and many others. Charlie Haden included Tres Palabras on his Grammy-winning 2001 album Nocturne. In 1962, Farrés and his wife, Fina del Peso Farrés, left Cuba. They never returned. He died in West New York, New Jersey, in 1985.

Sabor a Mà (Taste of Me) is a 1959 bolero by Mexican composer and singer Ãlvaro Carrillo. It was internationally popularized by Los Panchos, who collaborated on their rendition with Eydie Gormé in 1964.[1] Among the over 300 songs that he created, this song was considered Carrillo's biggest hit both in Mexico and internationally.[2] Since its creation, the song has been covered by several artists, including among them Mexican singer Luis Miguel, Cuban jazz pianist Bebo Valdes, k-pop boygroup EXO, and the Mexican American musicians Los Lobos.

The TrÃo Matamoros was one of the most popular Cuban trova groups. It was formed in 1925 in Santiago de Cuba. The Trio Mamamoros recorded a whole album covering music by Rafael Hernández MarÃn called: 'El Trio Matamoros y la musica de RAFAEL HERNANDEZ'. Rafael Hernández (October 24, 1892 – December 11, 1965) was a Puerto Rican songwriter, author of hundreds of popular songs in the Latin American repertoire. He specialized in Puerto Rican styles such as the canción, bolero and guaracha. Among his most famous compositions are Lamento Borincano, Capullito de alhelÃ, Campanitas de cristal, Cachita, Silencio, El cumbanchero, Ausencia and Perfume de gardenias.

About the Composer and the song: Jorge Anckermann (22 March 1877 – 3 February 1941) was a Cuban pianist, composer and bandleader. Havana-born, he started in music at eight with his father. At age ten he was able to substitute in a trio. In 1892, he went to Mexico as musical director of the bufo company of Nachos Lopez, visiting various Mexican states, and touring California.[1] Anckermann lived in Mexico City for a number of years, teaching music. In Cuba, he was for many years the musical director of leading theatres. He composed and produced pieces for zarzuelas, reviews and comedies. He also composed boleros, and was apparently the originator of the guajira. The grand theatre Alhambra was the scene of his greatest hits, such as La isla de cotorras. Famous pieces include El arroyo que murmura; El quitrÃn; Flor de YumurÃ; Un bolero en la noche.[2] His father, Carlos Anckermann, and his brother, Fernando Anckermann, were also prominent composers and musicians.
