Level 3 - SKU: A0.1468422 By Stuart Brown. By Stuart Brown. Arranged by Stuart Brown. 21st Century,Celtic,Christian,Irish,Multicultural,World. Accompaniment. Duration 218. Stuart Brown Music #1046741. Published by Stuart Brown Music (A0.1468422). For a vocal score, see item number 1046738.I wrote this for Trinity Evangelical Church in Larnaca, Cyprus. It's a multiethnic church, hence the mixture of Greek, African and western sounds for which I scored it. However I'm realistic enough to provide also this backing track and a reduced score mainly for the singers. People who have heard this sung tell me it blesses them. I can't really comment but even as its composer I will admit that it has reduced me to tears at times. You will need four pretty special singers, but I leave that to you.

Easy Piano - Level 2 - SKU: A0.1112682 Composed by Forrest Avery Carney and Mohamad Indra Gerson. Arranged by Nicole Elyse DiPaolo. New Age,Pop. Score. 3 pages. Nicole Elyse DiPaolo #714697. Published by Nicole Elyse DiPaolo (A0.1112682). An abridged version of After Dark optimized for early intermediate pianists and those with small hands. The left hand chords can be varied with arpeggios, tremolos, and the like as the student's skill level allows. Great for teens who are fairly early in their piano studies and busy students who want to learn this piece quickly. ABOUT THE ARRANGER: Praised as a sensitive pianist and outstanding accompanist who delivers powerful interpretations, Nicole Elyse DiPaolo enjoys a multifaceted career as a sought-after collaborative pianist, educational composer, arranger, coach, private teacher, and adjunct music professor. Currently based in the Cleveland area, Ms. DiPaolo has appeared as a concerto soloist with the Ambassador Chamber Players on multiple occasions (two of which also featured her own Piano Trio in C minor) and as a recitalist, collaborator, and presenter worldwide. Currently, Ms. DiPaolo is an online Adjunct Lecturer in Music at Indiana University; the Principal Theory Teacher at Liberty Park Music, an online-only video subscription-based music school; an invited contributor to the Tonebase app's piano blog; and a sought-after online instructor of piano, music theory, and composition. She has additionally been an online teaching artist for the Tunaweza Kimuziki cultural/artistic exchange program+, through which IU instructors teach undergraduate music students in Kenya via Zoom and WhatsApp. Ms. DiPaolo was also on the composition and collaborative piano faculty at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in 2014 and 2015. In June 2018, Ms. DiPaolo was a Collaborative Piano Fellow at the Bay View Music Festival in Petoskey, Michigan, performing with the festival's SOARS voice program participants on fully staged opera scenes and art song recitals as well as in the Bay View Young Artist Series (Charlevoix, MI). She then joined the Spooky Goose Opera team as an online coach/pianist for their Quarantine Concert Series, the world's first livestreamed Zoom production of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (summer 2020), and new opera projects under development. When not on the piano bench, Ms. DiPaolo continues to compose and arrange, and her compositions have been described as very effective with a fantastic amount of intrigue, mindfulness...[and] colorful nuance (Seven Sky Music). Ms. DiPaolo's music has been heard across the world. Along with numerous performances in the Midwest, her commissioned song settings of Muscogee poet laureate Alexander Posey's texts have been performed nationwide, and the Smithsonian Institution procured copies of two of these (Nature's Blessings and A Vision) to archive at the National Museum of the American Indian. Ms. DiPaolo's music also received its Mexican premiere in 2013 with a performance of her Divertimento, written for the International String Quartet of Yucatán. In 2014 Ms. DiPaolo published a set of twenty short pedagogical pieces in uncommon keys, entitled Venturing Beyond, for early-intermediate pianists of all ages, available on SheetMusicPlus and MusicaNeo, and she is currently working on Vignettes, a new set of pedagogical pieces that will introduce intermediate pianists to the Impressionist language of Maurice Ravel. Most recently, her Divertimento and Lucid Dreaming for solo harp were chosen to be featured in the She Scores new music festival, celebrating women composers with ties to Ohio, held at Case Western Reserve University in June 2022 and recorded for later broadcast on Mark Satola's Cleveland Ovations program on WCLV radio (90.3). Also a sought-after composition teacher and adjudicator, Ms. DiPaolo frequently judges state, regional, and divisional MTNA composition competitions at all levels, ranging from elementary to college-level Young Artists. In her private online studio, she has recently expanded her curricular offerings to include partimento and other historical methods of teaching tonal composition and improvisation.

Percussion Ensemble - Level 5 - SKU: A0.937755 Composed by Dan Heslink. Contemporary,World. Score and parts. 128 pages. Pharaoh Publications #5983475. Published by Pharaoh Publications (A0.937755). Alexandriana for percussion ensemble (12 performers) by Dan Heslink The term Alexandriana is popularly used to reference the Great Library of antiquity in Alexandria, Egypt. Rooted in Alexander the Great’s global military and exploratory exploits (334 - 323 BCE), the library symbolizes the ancient Greek ever expanding worldview, especially under the influence of Alexander and his tutor, Aristotle. Alexander died long before construction of the Ancient Museum and Library of Alexandria, but the concept of a universal library was uniquely his. The mixing of Hellenistic columns with Egyptian architecture and the housing of thousands of scrolls in Greek, Turkish, Babylonian, Egyptian and Hebrew, intensify the division of the library broadly into two large sections, one for eastern knowledge and one for western knowledge. In this musical score, typically western is the thematic concept (expressed most clearly in the chimes), the tonal, triadic-based harmony and sectional concept of form. The music’s sectional nature parallels the library’s different rooms, each containing their own genre of knowledge (history, mathematics, poetry, etc.) Evocative of eastern musical practices are the simultaneous layers of different rhythmic subdivisions, oriental modes, and florid lines in the xylophone and vibe parts. In this score, eastern musical procedures are expressed with instruments commonly found in the Western orchestra or wind band. The performers are encouraged to always emphasize the score’s contrasts. Passages for indefinitely pitched percussion featuring the song within the drums contrast with other passages of purely quantitative rhythm. Complexity in the interaction of parts contrast with simple rhythmic unison. Passages of thick harmony contrast with modal monophonic melodies accompanied only by indefinitely pitched sounds. Overall, there is a wide dynamic range. During long passages of gradually accruing energy, take care to not build dynamics too quickly, and during fortissimo passages, drums should be stroked in a manner that avoids excessive aggression. The rhythmic background of 16th notes must be consistent among all players so that interlocking rhythmic motifs are consistent. Often the tom-toms have melodic passages that imitate the shape of mallet or timpani melodies. Tune the drums for a warm, round sound and select mallets accordingly. Bar percussion players should apply a flowing legato to their passage work. Soft sections are intended to sound mysterious: be sure to use mallets that match that character. The composer assigns a performance level of difficult to this work. Performance time is 9:15. The composer, Dan Heslink, can be reached at dan@dheslink.com.

Euphonium,Piano - Level 3 - SKU: A0.549789 Composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Children,Christmas,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 11 pages. Jmsgu3 #3536985. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549789). Duration: ca 1:00 Score: 5 pages, Solo part: 2 pages, piano part: 3 pages. Short but fascinating Chinese Dance from the Nutcracker Suite. Program this for a recital encore or Christmas pageant. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Tchaikovsky is probably the most popular of the great composers in America. His music certainly appeals to musicians. Likewise, it appeals even to folks who don’t normally listen to serious music. This is probably because of his most noteworthy melodies. Above all, he writes with great emotion. This certainly makes a most noteworthy if not an unforgettable impact. Education First of all, He attended classes at the Russian Musical Society. Even more, He also attended the St. Petersburg Conservatory. There he studied music theory with Nikolai Zaremba. He also consequently studied composition with Anton Rubenstein. It seems like Rubenstein came under criticism from a group of Russian composers known as the Five. The Five The Five certainly rejected Western musical influences. They rather sought to use elements from Russian music. They furthermore wanted to use more exotic musical materials. Western Techniques More than other Russian composers, Tchaikovsky studied modern Western music. He certainly develops his music like the European masters. So, rather than repeating a motive, he moves to a new key. He then introduces a different theme in the new key. Hence, he maintained his independence from the Five. Even more, he became the first Russian composer of international stature. Influences Tchaikovsky was probably influenced in his ballet scoring by Léo Delibes. Richard Wagner influenced his symphonic writing. Tchaikovsky’s most famous works include the 1812 Overture, The Nutcracker Suite, and Swan Lake. Also famous are the Violin Concerto in D and the six symphonies. The greatest of the six symphonies may be No. 6, the Pathétique. Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71a The Nutcracker Suite is a ballet that was performed for the first time in December 1892 in St. Petersburg. To begin with, the original ballet failed to attract a positive reception. However, the ballet suite became probably one of the most popular of all of Tchaikovsky’s works. The ballet suite became even more famous since the 1960s. It is now performed all over the world particularly during the Christmas season. The song tells a folk tale of a cowboy who has a vision of red-eyed, steel-hooved cattle thundering across the sky, being chased by the spirits of damned cowboys. One warns him that if he does not change his ways, he will be doomed to join them, forever trying to catch the Devil's herd across these endless skies. The story has been linked with old European myths of the Wild Hunt and the Dutch/Flemish legend of the Buckriders, in which a supernatural group of hunters passes the narrator in wild pursuit.

Flute,Piano - Level 5 - SKU: A0.1287662 By James Strauss. By Richard Strauss. Arranged by James Strauss. 20th Century,Chamber,Contemporary,Jewish,Sacred. Score and part. 31 pages. James Strauss #878687. Published by James Strauss (A0.1287662). Strauss and the Dance of the Seven VeilsThe Dance of the Seven Veils is a performance by Salome before King Herod Antipas, depicted in modern stage productions, literature, and visual arts. This dance is an elaboration of the New Testament story of the Feast of Herod and the execution of John the Baptist. While the New Testament does not give the dance a name, the title Dance of the Seven Veils originated from the 1893 English translation of Oscar Wilde's French play, Salome, which included the stage direction Salome dances the dance of the seven veils. Richard Strauss also incorporated the dance into his opera Salome in 1905.The concept of Salome's dance involving seven veils can be traced back to Wilde's play, where he was influenced by earlier French writers who portrayed Salome as a symbol of female lust. Wilde envisioned the dance as an act of unveiling, symbolizing the revealing of Salome's true self. He drew inspiration from Gustave Flaubert's story Herodias, in which Salome performs a hand dance to please Antipas. Wilde initially intended to follow Flaubert's version but later changed his approach. The idea of the dance being associated with veils can be linked to the popularity of veil dances during that time, which were westernized interpretations of Middle Eastern dance styles. Notably, the dancer Loïe Fuller was known for her veil dances. Wilde's play did not provide a detailed description of the dance, but it is commonly assumed to involve a series of veils being removed, symbolizing the process of unveiling oneself.Strauss's operatic adaptation of Salome also includes the Dance of the Seven Veils. Although the dance remains unnamed in the music, Salome's sexual fascination with John the Baptist seems to motivate her request, while Herod appears pleased. The visual interpretation of this scene can vary depending on the production, with some emphasizing its eroticism. Strauss specified that the dance should be thoroughly decent, as if it were being done on a prayer mat, but some performances have portrayed it in a more explicit manner.James Strauss's choice to program well-known orchestral pieces for the flute and piano stems from the technical challenges they present, both instrumentally and interpretatively. It allows the flautist to explore different timbres and a romantic style of playing, inspired by Orchestral mass sustained phrases and intense vibrato found in this repertoire. Transcribing orchestral pieces for the flute presents certain difficulties, such as playing loudly and with a full tone in the lower register or producing high notes that gradually fade away. Despite these challenges, the purpose is to challenge the flute's traditional role and explore its expressive capabilities through this repertoire.

Oboe Solo - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1018903 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 2 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6064741. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018903). Programme Notes: Mornings are powerful and evocative moments. The chorus of birds, one species after another, unite in a wild and genuine polyphony while the dew and mist evaporate upon the rising of the sun, encouraging goosebumps and shivers from an open window, tempered or exhilarated by a cup of coffee. Have you ever actively witnessed the sun’s sultry and intense ascension from the cradle of the horizon? That is what this piece, Aubade, or dawn song, is about. An aubade is the twin of a night-time serenade; an aubade is a love song originating amongst the medieval Provençal troubadours, depicting the morning departure between two lovers. A song for the slow cosmic percolation of a late summer morning. On a personal level, the composer is reminded of his own experiences, camping in Northern Canada, a simpler and less demanding time. This piece formally begins the series I composed during the Covid-19 quarantine conditions of 2020, to serve as potential contemporary preludes for each of Ludwig van Beethoven’s nine symphonies--his two hundred and fiftieth anniversary was this year!--though they can all stand on their own on any program. The connection in this case is with his first symphony; I envisioned, once my piece concludes, his beautiful drawn-out chords presenting themselves--the dawn of his special genius.About the Composer:Programme Notes: It is said that the darkest hour of the night comes just before the dawn. – Thomas Fuller Mornings are powerful and evocative moments. Pagliuca-Mena. Jazz. Score and Parts. 46 pages. Soundnotation #4251133750706. Published by Soundnotation (2S.4251133750706). La Cabra Mocha (Full Score) is a Gaita de Furro. Because it belongs to the folklore of Zulia, its origin remains unclear and a dispute over the authorship of the composition currently revolves around Pradelio Hernandez and Jesus Lozano. Although its date of origin is considered equally indefinable for the same reason, its official appearance can be narrowed down to the middle of the 20th century. Probably it's much older, but due to the technological improvements of music recording, the piece became popular only later. La Cabra Mocha is a musical jewel that tells the story of a nation who has a wisdom and finds in music the way to express itself. The history of its transculturation is remarkable, although it also carries contradictions, depending on the way of representing. Sometimes its imposed stereotypes are accepted by society due to a lack of self-knowledge, which ultimately leads to a change of identity, where some elements are transfigured and others are replaced. Arranging a Gaita de Furro for youth orchestra makes sense for the following reasons: First and foremost, the self-knowledge of a society should start from the childhood and should be cultivated and carried on from generation to generation, thereby conserved. Moreover, a lack of a pedagogical act, thus a pedagogical repertoire, is one of the main causes for the ignorance of Venezuelan music. Another important aspect is the transformation or adaptation as a process of maintaining Venezuelan musical culture. Many children already present the intention of the composition by drawing their attention to the formation of the orchestra, which represents a globally unified language as a network of distribution and which is locally independent. Wherever the composition is played - each orchestra will be able to maintain the quality and expressiveness of the piece without hiding its identity. The piece opens with a fanfare introduction of the Cabra Mocha, followed by a drum roll, which reminds of the drummer's traditional reputation and introduces the theme whose chorus is represented by the tutti and its verses by the soli. The first variation consists of a two-bar rhythm and major tonality, full of wit and cunning. The following variation is an Adagio with a three-part rhythm in minor. Then the timpani return to initiate the theme, this time shortened by its Reprise, which finally leads to a polyphonic Codetta. On an interpretative level, the return of variation can be compared with the return of education and thus, to a certain extent, improvisation. This is a very striking factor of traditional music, which is represented as a fitting metaphor in the form of harmonic and rhythmic reference within the composition. Introduccion, Tema y Variaciones sobre la Cabra Mocha was composed in the last weeks of 2012 and won the first prize in the composition competition for the Youth Orchestra of Zulia, which was awarded by the Venezuelan Orchestra in its first edition in 2013. At the beginning of 2014 Silvano Pagliuca-Mena made a small revision of the piece. Silvano Antonio Pagliuca Mena was born on 10 May 1991 in Maracaibo, Venezuela. Despite his Italian and Spanish roots, he has always remained true to his love for the music of his homeland, which is why his compositions always carry Venezuelan impressions, but also influences like academic western music, jazz and popular music.

Score and parts. 23 pages. Jmsgu3 #3536083. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549785). Mozart's Romanze from Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, K. 525 for Piano Trio (Violin, Cello and Piano). Duration: ca. 7:00. Score: 11 pages. Violin: 4 pages, Cello: 2 pages, piano: 4 pages. This is one of the most beloved works in all of Mozart's catalog making it a strong choice for a recital, meditation, nightclub, church or wedding reception. Eine kleine Nachtmusik Eine kleine Nachtmusik is also at the same time known as Serenade No. 13. Indeed, we find it listed in the Köchel Catalog as K. 525. With this in mind, Mozart composed the piece by all means in 1787 probably as a commission. To clarify, the title translates as a little night-music. Mozart originally scored the work in particular for an ensemble of two violins, viola, and cello with double bass (optional). In modern times the work is certainly usually performed by string orchestras, though it is often in fact performed by a string quartet – with or without double bass. Publication A point often overlooked is that the name of the work derives from the entry Mozart made in his private journal. He wrote: Eine kleine Nacht-Musik. This explains that Mozart was probably not naming the piece, but only entering a record that he had completed it. Nevertheless, the work was published by and large in 1827. It had been sold to the publisher for the most part in 1799 by Mozart's widow Constanze. Nowadays, it is on balance extensively performed and recorded. Some critics ultimately claim that it is the most popular of all Mozart's works. Early Years Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 – 1791), was a productive and significant Austrian classical composer. Mozart displayed unusual musical capability from his earliest childhood. It seems like he was already capable on keyboard and violin at the age of two. He started composing at age five and performed before European royalty. Middle Period At 17, Mozart was working as a musician at the Salzburg Royal court but grew agitated from boredom and traveled to search for a more interesting job. While visiting Vienna in 1781, he was summarily dismissed from his Salzburg job. Nevertheless, he decided to stay in the capital (Vienna), where he achieved much fame but little economic haven. Throughout his concluding years in the Capital, he composed many of his most famous works: symphonies, operas, and concertos. Final Period The conditions surrounding his death have been much the subject of much conjecture and mythology. He composed more than 600 works, many recognized as highpoints of symphonic, chamber, concertante, choral and operatic. He is among the most everlastingly popular of classical composers, and his impact is substantial on succeeding Western art music.
