Published by Bo Ejeby Forlag - Digital (BJ.1418). 8.27 x 11.7 inches.Flight sought us out is a walking choral piece for three choirs SATB, based on a Swedish poem by Stig Dagerman, translated to English by Sven Smedberg. Initially published in 1953, the lyrics deal with a burning subject, and it is shaped musically by employing the choirs' positions and movements in relation to the natural acoustics of the room. The work was commissioned by the Naas Choral Festival in 2017, where it was premiered by local choirs conducted by Gunno Palmquist. A Swedish version, Flykten valde oss, is also available. Flight sought us out is well-suited to choirs at different levels. Choir I has the most difficult parts, while Choir III has the easiest. There is also a reduced version of the work for a SATB choir with a soloist or a small solo group in each part. BF Music #1073116. Published by BF Music (A0.1496596). I Was Only Nineteen, I Was Only 19 or A Walk in the Light Green is the most widely recognised song by Australian folk group Redgum. The song was released in March 1983 as a single, which hit number one for two weeks. This version has been created for Full Orchestra (with optional TTB or SAB choral parts). The piece should be easily playable by Intermediate level Full Orchestra. There are optional parts for English Horn, Clarinet 3, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone & Contra Bassoon. The piano part is important for the core rhythms section, as is the guitar. The Violin 1 parts does go into third position towards the end, but all other string parts stay in first position. The song itself is a first-person account of a typical Australian soldier's experience in the Vietnam War, from training at a military academy in Australia to first hand exposure to military operations and combat, and ultimately his return home disillusioned and suffering from both PTSD and, it is implied, the harmful effects of Agent Orange. This piece would work well at any ANZAC Day or Memorial Day event for the Armed services.

Initially published in 1953, the lyrics deal with a burning subject, and it is shaped musically by employing the choirs' positions and movements in relation to the natural acoustics of the room. The work was commissioned by the Naas Choral Festival in 2017, where it was premiered by local choirs conducted by Gunno Palmquist. A Swedish version, Flykten valde oss, is also available. Flight sought us out is well-suited to choirs at different levels. This is a reduced version of the work for one SATB choir with a soloist or a small solo group in each part. My personal preference is for this version; it paints a seashore picture that I can imagine, and I'm completely convinced by the romantic element!Musically speaking, I love the alternating 3 and 4 beat bars; they make me think of waves coming irregularly to the shore.Pronunciation notes: slight roll on all 'r' sounds; rye - 'ye' as in bye-bye; 'ch' as in loch, back of throat; 'll' is said H L - run them together 'hl'. Everything else is written phonetically.Translation: 1. Beside the sea grow red roses, and white lilies, and there lives my true love, sleeping all night and rising in the morning. 2. Down where the sea laps at the flat rock, we walked together, and spoke words of love; lilies grow there, and branches of rosemary.3. By the sea are blue pebbles, golden flowers, everything that's beautiful - and also my dearest sweetheart.
