Instrumental Duet Guitar,Instrumental Duet,Voice - Level 4 - SKU: A0.923852 By George Shearing. By Hoagy Carmichael. Arranged by Steve William Lussing. Jazz. Score and parts. 5 pages. S. W. Lussing #3126013. Published by S. W. Lussing (A0.923852). Many venerable songs were written in the age before computers and midi synthesizers. A musical score or lead sheet was intended to be interpreted for style and tempo, and while some of those interpretations may not necessarily have been wrong, quite often they weren't always what the author intended, but face it, it's just plain hard to write music exactly in the way that the song is intended to be sung. Enter the computer age, and the ability for performers to understand that the interval of a note is an absolute time interval which puts the natural rhythm, or beat, of a musical arrangement at about 25% faster than a beat per second, which is why I arrange music to be performed at ~ 80 BPM, which means, approximately 80 beats per minute. That is not etched in stone, but it does represent the comfort zone to which the performer should subscribe when singing or playing a song. Contemporary jazz singers are, in my opinion, therefore obligated to re-arrange the songs that they intend to record, to avoid the embarrassment of getting it wrong. It happens. Timing is of the essence. Many of those old jazz classics are well served with a rewrite for the contemporary artist. The Nearness of You was written in 1938 by Hoagy Carmichael, with lyrics by Ned Washington, and was performed in the 1938 Paramount movie, Romance in the Dark, by Gladys Swarthout of the Metropolitan Opera. It has been recorded numerous times over the years, and it maintains its popularity today. The guitar chording for this arrangement is targeted toward the experienced and more advanced players, but I encourage the experienced intermediate level player to take up the challenge of learning to play this song. It will be a rewarding experience.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - SKU: A0.864794 Composed by Sam M. Lewis and Victor Young. Arranged by Dan Severino. Contemporary. Score. 6 pages. Piano Teacher Press #5216007. Published by Piano Teacher Press (A0.864794). Sam, You Made the Pants Too Long is a very humorous song about a tailor that made a client a perfect outfit except for one minor detail, ..... the pants were too long!! This song follows the pattern of a Recitative-Aria. The first dozen bars are rather declamatory exclaiming the problem. This story is immediately elaborated in the shuffle rhythm of the song. This arrangement tries to capture the humor and irony of the lyrics. A good performance will require a lot of wit and dynamism. The Recitative can be done very freely, but the Song (Aria) need to keep a steady rhythm with a lot of punch at the climax points. Play the middle section of the song in a more relaxed manner and in the final repetition of the main theme be your most expressive. End strong. This arrangement therefore has a lot of teaching value making students use their imagination in crafting a good interpretation and telling a story. Sam , You Made the Pants Too Long is a great novelty piece for a number that would especially stand out at a recital. It's also a great piece for a social gathering.

Published by Karen Wilson (A0.1269265). Alison Moyet sang this song in the key of A major. As we all know, she has a beautiful, low voice. I arranged it in A major, but we found all the parts were on the low side, so I therefore transposed it up a minor third (to C major). Obviously, it'll depend on your voices as to which key you decide upon. Good luck!

Dandelion Music Press #3106871. Published by Dandelion Music Press (A0.891216). If you are looking to lighten your concert, to program real music, or a piece with rapid text delivery satisfying to mid-level treble choirs and treble community choirs, bring this hilarious 3 minute piece to your outstanding accompanist-pianist and your developing ensemble. Debuted for choir during an educational outreach concert for children with families, Mozart's At the Window is also an effective selection or encore for a Mozart concert, or standing on its own. Piece features lots of vocal doubling and is fully supported by a pianistic reduction-- this piece shines with an amazing accompanist. The choral arranger writes: After getting absolutely sick of the inane music I'd been playing for my young children in the car, I was elated to discover Gunnar Madsen's CD I'm Growing featuring Mozart's At the Window. The kids were delighted with this funny song about some naughty kid, and my husband and I were delighted with the enormous improvement of musical quality in our vehicle. It was shortly thereafter that this choral arrangement was born.Gunnar writes: In my first music theory class in college, the teacher and the students were recalling the silly ways they'd been taught to remember classical melodies when they were young. One of them was for Mozart's 40th symphony (which I'd never heard) which consisted of Now Mozart's at the window - Let him in, Let him in, Let him in. What an ear-worm! For 25 years now I've dreamt of expanding that ditty into something more substantial, and now I'm proud to present the finished piece. I'm really going to get a kick of sending this one to my teacher! Also available in SATB voicingMusic abridged from W. A. Mozart's Symphony No.40 in G minor, K.550 IV. Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1158398 Composed by Dr. Daniel N. Thrower. 20th Century,Chamber,Classical,Historic,Patriotic. 18 pages. Https://gildedmusicpress.com/ #758679. Published by https://gildedmusicpress.com/ (A0.1158398). Composed to commemorate the 20th year of the 9-11 terrorist attacks. This somber, gorgeous piece of music draws tears when presented correctly, and is an extraordinarily important contribution to the brass quintet repertoire. The Jewish “feast†(or “appointed timeâ€) of trumpets, as outlined in Leviticus 23:24-25, prescribes the observance: “Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation. Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord.†According to the Jewish calendar, the feast of trumpets in 2001 coincided exactly with the 9-11 attacks, which could indeed be thought of as “an offering made by fire.†Effectively no servile work was done on that day throughout the attacked nation, and it has indeed become a somber type of “sabbath†to observe every year. It seemed extraordinarily appropriate—perhaps even requisite—that a somber composition with trumpets be composed for the 20th annual observance of the horrific attacks on American soil, as a “Memorial†to those lost that day, and those who since perished in the Global War on Terror. “Where were you when you first heard about the 9-11 attacks?†This common question is posed to those who were of age to comprehend what had happened in 2001. Personally, I had just listened to an emotional rendition of Maurice Ravel’s “Pavane to a Dead Princess.†Elements of that musical memory influenced this present work “Memorial.†Other sources of inspiration—whether intended or subconscious—include Samuel Barber’s heart-wrenching “Adagio for Strings,†Michael Kamen’s “Quintet†for brass, and John Williams’ “Hymn to the Fallen.†The harmonies are thick and often dissonant, including many suspensions. The players get little rest, symbolic of the constant state of alertness of a shocked nation after being so brutally attacked. Perhaps of greatest symbolic import is the fact that there are exactly 911 notes in this composition. Because of this, it is crucial that the percussion part be performed, and that great care be taken by all performers to refrain from altering the notes or rhythms in any way. A comment on the interpretation of notation: all long notes that are tied to a staccato note on the downbeat are to be held to the downbeat and gently released, not held over.

Published by Paul Taylor (A0.1296241). This tune, although light-hearted in spirit was banned by the British for creating fervor for Irish Nationalism. Wearing green indicated that a citizen was in support of the Irish rebellion. Many people did so and were hanged by the British authorities. Nowadays on St. Patrick's day, the wearing of the green seems to have lost its notoriety and is described as a safeguard to prevent leprechauns from seeing you, thereby making you immune to their pranks:).

Published by Kim Kirkman (A0.779671). This is a wonderful old comedy song. This is in C major - the high key for sopranosI have put in the first verse that Tessie sings, plus the spoken part. I have changed some of the words of the spoken part to update them.I have then constructed a third verse from other verses that Le Clerq wrote. To sing it exactly like Tessie please repeat first verse.Words:Verse:For years a fairy queen I've bin', For years I foiled the demon king. But alas, I'm getting on, The years have flown somehow,And I feel that Fairy Snowdrop isn't wanted now.Chorus One:Nobody loves a fairy when she's forty.Nobody loves a fairy when she's old.She may still have her magic power, But that is not enough,They like their bit of magic from a younger bit of fluff. When once your silver star has lost its glitter,And your tinsel looks like rust instead of gold.Your fairy days are ending when your wand has started bending.Noone loves a fairy when she's old.Spoken:T'was I who found the magic wand, I will not tell you where.T'was I who found young Tinkerbell, her head was full of airI’ve been a fairy of the flowers, and fairy daffodils,I’ve been a fairy of the wind, and suffer from it still! In certain covered valley hills I go down to the glenBeen loved by all the children and run after by the men. Huh!Noone could touch me at me splits, me splits were all the rage,Until the night woodman left his chopper on the stage, what a mess!Verse 2:Nobody loves a fairy when she's forty.Nobody loves a fairy when she's old.As far as I can see they try to push you off the map,When once your wand has withered and your wings refuse to flap. When you have lost your little fairy dimples,And the mothholes in your dress let in the cold,It seems that they would sooner listen to a blinkin' crooner,Noone loves a fai-y when she's old!

A Clarinet,Bassoon,Cello,Double Bass,Flute,Horn,Oboe,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1358397 Composed by Juozas ŽileviÄius. Arranged by Kazys DaugÄ—la. 20th Century,Classical. 162 pages. Kazys Daugela #942837. Published by Kazys Daugela (A0.1358397). Juozas ŽileviÄius (1891–1985) was an organist, composer, educator, and researcher in the history of music. In 1919, when graduating from the Petrograd Conservatory, he composed Symphony in F minor, the first Lithuanian composition in this genre. Upon his return to Lithuania in 1920, ŽileviÄius worked in various musical life spheres of the young republic: he took part in the activities of the Society of Lithuanian Art Creators, contributed to the establishment of Kaunas Opera House, worked for several years as the head of the Art Department at the Ministry of Education, prepared the first music curricula for secondary schools and progymnasiums, conducted courses for music teachers, taught at music schools in Kaunas and KlaipÄ—da, published a musical periodical, and initiated the first Lithuanian Song Festival. Musicologist DanutÄ— PetrauskaitÄ— managed to bring copies of three-movement Nonet for strings and wind instruments from Chicago to Lithuania. ŽileviÄius started writing it in December 1924. The composition was apparently inspired by the Czech Nonet members, working at KlaipÄ—da School of Music, who had been invited by its director Stasys Å imkus from Prague. This was a lively and youthful group that gave concerts all over Lithuania. It amazed audiences with its high artistic level and set an example for students, encouraging them to form various ensembles. The repertoire of the Czech Nonet consisted mainly of works from the Classical and Romantic eras. There were few contemporary compositions, and therefore the Czech Nonet performers turned to composers with a request to write new works for them. They might have discussed the matter with ŽileviÄius with whom they maintained a close relationship, as they did later with Lithuanian composer Jeronimas KaÄinskas.ŽileviÄius finished writing Nonet on 15 November 1926. All three movements were based on the intonations of Lithuanian folk melodies. The first movement (Andante. Allegro moderato) imitatively developed the motifs of the song “Autumn will Comeâ€, while the second one (Andante cantabile) featured fragments of the song I Rode through the Woodâ€, and the third one (Allegro) of the song “Oh, you Bird Cherryâ€. The composition was written professionally, it should have been attractive and interesting for the performers, but, unfortunately, it was never performed. The reasons for this could have been various: disagreements between the director of  KlaipÄ—da Music School, Å imkus, and his deputy, ŽileviÄius, as well a the Czech teachers’ falling into disgrace and starting to resign from their teaching positions in the autumn of 1926. A few years later, ŽileviÄius also resigned from the school: in January 1929 he left for the USA and settled in Elizabeth, New Jersey, where he worked as a church organist. He also brought his Nonet from KlaipÄ—da, hoping that this work would be heard in America. To this end, he found transcribers who made instrumental parts from the score. As it turned out, there were few Lithuanian instrumentalists in the USA, and ŽileviÄius did not have close relations with Americans. Thus Nonet, which the composer regarded as one of his most successful compositions after his Symphony in F minor, sank into oblivion. Thanks to Kazys DaugÄ—la, an opportunity appeared to edit and digitise it after the sheet music of Nonet had arrived in Lithuania. This work reveals the origins of the Lithuanian musical culture, enriches the repertoire of chamber-instrumental ensembles, broadens music education curricula, inks the name of ŽileviÄius, the author of both the first Lithuanian symphony and of the first nonet, in the history of music, and contributes to the preservation and fostering of the Lithuanian musical heritage.by Prof. Dr. DanutÄ— PetrauskaitÄ—.

The piano scores used for the original sheet music of these folk songs, hymns, and spirituals of the 1800’s were purposely made simple in order to sell as many copies as possible. The idea being that if someone in every family could read the most basic piano score, then the rest of the family could gather around the piano (usually an inexpensive upright) and sing along in the days before records, cassette tapes, CD’s, Radio, Television, iPods, YouTube etc. Nowadays, the few people who can sight-read at the piano are more musically literate, often being able to read and play classical compositions by Bach, Handel, Scarlatti, Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven. They, therefore, deserve more interesting and rewarding arrangements of these wonderful musical treasures of the 1800’s. Furthermore, since these arrangements for piano and voice can also be played as piano solos, the piano scores are designed to be of enjoyable musical interest on their own; that is, orchestrated for the piano as if they were sketches for an ensemble of instruments. These arrangements can also be considered theatrical improvisations on the original sheet music. Following the best improvisational guidelines, they are based on 1) the implications of the title; 2) the meaning and words of the lyrics; 3) the melody; & 4) the harmonic pattern. For example: Oh, Susanna! is obviously a humorous nonsense song and is therefore arranged to sound carefree, jaunty, and joyful. Also, since the singer refers to my banjo on my knee, the piano arrangement imitates the sound of a banjo as it is played for singing and dancing, strumming its rhythmic way through the simple harmonic changes. You can see and hear the music for most of these contemporary arrangements on Sheet Music Plus and some also on YouTube. And if you wish to play and/or sing along alone or with your friends or family, please do so. Happy time travel!!!

B-Flat Clarinet,Piano,Violin - Level 5 - SKU: A0.1208741 Composed by Adam Lenhart. Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival. 33 pages. Adam Lenhart #806841. Published by Adam Lenhart (A0.1208741). Introduction to The Rubáiyát of Omar KhayyámThe Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam is a Persian poetry collection first put together in 1460 in Shiraz.  It consists of quatrains, four-line poems, with a set of unconventional themes.  The poetry is irreligious and questions the afterlife and God's providence.  It shows keen awareness of the shortness of life and the finality of death. It advises therefore that every fleeting moment of every day should be savored, with wine, lovers and song. The combination of a serious philosophy of life and a carefree attitude has made the poetry popular for centuries.  In 1859, Edward FitzGerald brought out a loose English translation that took the world by storm.  It became the most beloved and widely known poem in the English language for decades until its popularity finally faded in the late twentieth century. Although they were attributed to the great mathematician and astronomer, Omar Khayyam (d. 1131), the poems were by many anonymous hands, and he was just a frame author, akin to Scheherezade in the Arabian Nights.- Dr. Juan Cole, Richard P. Mitchell Collegiate Professor of History at the University of MichiganAbout the CompositionTwo Scenes from The Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám explores and embodies two of the main themes that carry throughout the quatrains of the poem collection. In FitzGerald's translation, the quatrains follow a day to night cycle. The two movements reflect this by starting off with an abrupt wake up section and ending the piece with a nocturne.  The first movement, Wine, celebrates the camaraderie, joy and chaos that comes through the physical joy of being with friends. The clarinet, violin and piano interact in a conversational way, talking, laughing, and insulting one another in their own independent lines. The second movement is entitled Intimacy and explores the emotional joy of connecting with one another. The movement is set in a waltz style dance and draws influence from Chopin, Liszt and other romantic era composers. This is juxtaposed by youthful and energetic phrases so that the piece embodies all forms of love: young love, years of marriage and even friendship. Each movement has a sense of urgency and density which is present in the rubá'iyát as well, expressing to the reader that our time on Earth is so short and to make the most of each day.---------------------------Adam Lenhart (b. 2002) is a University of Michigan student of music theory, composition, voice and organ from Ottawa Lake, Michigan. He taught the kingdom of God on this earth Was as man sewing good seeds in fields with great care. Then, while sleeping at night, an enemy came And sowed the tares among the wheat in shame. Soon when the wheat grew, showing great promise, Tares also covered the space all around. Knowing the young roots were tender and new, Then the man, in great wisdom, approached his good ground. Let them both grow together. Harvest time waits. The tares and wheat then gathered to their fates. Now is the harvest. Gather together All the elect from the quarters of earth. A Major Scale across the full neck (to see how they all combine resulting in knowing the full neck)2. Blank scale chart to add in memorization and making alterations.Scales included:1. F Major2. C Major3. G Major4. D Major5. A MajorTips:1. There is a reason why it is not 12 or 24 scales. Since these scales are easy to move higher or lower, just these 5 Major will lead to all 24 major/minor keys throughout the entire fretboard. Therefore, making a C# Major scale chart is uneccessary, and if you are doing so, you may be over thinking music. Instead, it is better to ask yourself how do I play C major but 1 pitch higher and use previous work you have done to your advantage. 2. These scales do not end on the home note. This is a disadvantage in this way, however, knowing large portions of the scale neck in one position will allow you to play a key throughout the fretboard with no gaps in notes. In otherwords, learning one ocatave scales can have concise music theory, but it's impossible to know the scale in every part of the neck completely that way. Features:1. Color coding. Blue notes are home (tonic) notes. Red notes are away (dominant) notes. Simplifying harmony this much can often make you more creative not less since you are crafting the harmonies yourself. 2. Left hand fingerings added. Don't mistake these for fingering numbers.3. Letter names to aid in memorization.Notes:I realize that the hand written font doesn't look the most professional, however this is intentional. I tried making these in photo editors, but since every shape was perfect they were actually harder to memorize from (kind of living driving in a tunnel with no landmarks).

This is a companion to my earlier volume Chording to the Dance Masters which presented 44 of my favourite Renaissance Dance band tunes and arranged them as a single melody line with chords derived from the original harmony lines. In this volume I have reunited 22 of the pieces with the lower parts in the score, so that with more collaborators, the fullness of the original arrangement can be heard. The chords are still present, so if the ensemble is short handed, and lines are missing, the arrangements will still work. What is more, by contrasting the melody and chords with the full scoring, it should be possible to work some light and shade into performances. You can hear all the pieces and their chords on YouTube together with contemporary art and historical background material:https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYRWH2nycMkMoIoEYEMVPa_EXY6NVDpNSAs a help to those less confident in playing harmony lines, I have provided links to playlists of videos online for each part of each piece. You will hear the selected line on its own with chords and percussion, with the melody line added on repeats. The final repeat includes the other harmony lines, but the featured line is slightly louder in the mix. The performance starts with a percussion beat introduction to set the tempo.Who were the Publishers and the Dance Masters? What did they do? Sometime around the 1500s, the popularity of dance music exploded in Europe. Dance Masters were collecting chansons and dance tunes from courts and rural parts and were teaching these to new audiences, spreading their arrangements and reflecting the performance styles of the areas from which they had collected the tunes. Publishers were able to take these tunes that were becoming known across the regions and nations and spread them even more widely, thanks to technological innovations in music printing which made it quicker and therefore cheaper to produce collections of these dances in four or more parts. These publishers were often highly accomplished composers in their own right, who were both able to provide distinctive harmony lines and compose new tunes in the style of their sources, feeding the courts with enduring tunes. Composers and printers of this time would often use note values that are double the length of those we would be used to seeing today, and so to make this version more readable, breves have become semibreves or whole notes, semibreves have become minims or half notes and so on. Working with this publication For those just starting out in Early Music, the volume is an ideal introduction, since the ensemble can build from a soloist with accompaniment with the chords alone, and parts can be added in as additional musicians become available. Instrumentation for these pieces was not specified in the original prints. The range of each part is quite limited, and though the harmonies may seem strange at times, key signatures are kind to the less experienced musician. If enthusiasm takes hold, then reproductions of early music instruments are sold by some very talented makers, as well as coming up on auction sites. Otherwise, it is possible to put together a fairly convincing ensemble with recorders, violins, a cello and mandolins, bouzoukis, flutes or guitars and gradually introduce the authentic instruments as they become available.

Ginny's House of Music #4362443. Published by Ginny's House of Music (A0.889815). *Bethlehem Angel and The First Noel This is a very beautifully flowing presentation which includes both an original work by this composer entitled Bethlehem Angel and an arrangement of The First Noel. It includes scriptures and lyrics. It was written for flute, guitar, voice, and piano accompaniment on Intermediate Level.  It is based on the scriptures Luke 2: 8-11 --- And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord and Matthew 2:1-10 ---- Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Judea, art not the least among the princes of Judea: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel. Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also. When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.Â

A Virgin Most Pure is an English traditional carol that appeared in Davies Gilbert's A Collection of Ancient Christmas Carols, with the Tunes to which they were formerly sung in the West of England (London, 1822). The first verse and refrain are as follows:A virgin most pure, as the prophets do tell, / Hath brought forth a baby, as it hath befell; / To be our Redeemer from death, hell, and sin, / Which Adam's transgression had wrapped us in.[Refrain] Aye, and therefore be merry; / Rejoice, and be you merry; / Set sorrow aside; / Christ Jesus our Saviour was born on this tide. The tune is built upon the Mixolydian scale (seventh mode), having the same sequence of tones and semitones as a major scale but with a lowered seventh degree. In this arrangement, the occasional addition of the flat seventh to the tonic chord and its use as a leading tone in some harmonic progressions emphasizes the modal quality of the tune.©Copyright 2013 Todd Marchand / ConSpiritoMusic. Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1466171 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Darrell Goforth. Baroque. 32 pages. Darrell Harrison Goforth #1044794. Published by Darrell Harrison Goforth (A0.1466171). J. S. Bach's work, The Goldberg Variations, BWV 988 are here arranged for Woodwind Quintet.Originally written for Johann Gottlieg Goldberg, the Goldberg Variations were originally published in 1741 and may have been initially performed publically by Herr Gottlieb. This work consists of an Aria and 30 variations. I have included in this effort the Aria and Variations 1 through 5. I will publish therest of the variations at a later date. I think it sounds rather interesting for this ensemble and I hope you enjoy playing it.The cover portrait, as you may have noticed, is not of either Bach or Goldberg. It is, rather, of a little known younger brother of Johann Sebastian named Robert Feliux Bach. Bob was neither a composer or musician, but was known as a champion mouser in Hamburg. As always, comments an suggestions are always welcome at darrell.goforth2@gmail,com.

String Trio Cello,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1461717 By Jvke. By Jacob Lawson and Zachary Lawson. Arranged by Sarah Cellobat Chaffee. Contemporary,Pop,Singer/Songwriter,Wedding. 10 pages. Sarah Cellobat Chaffee #1040465. Published by Sarah Cellobat Chaffee (A0.1461717). *INSTRUMENTATION: VIOLIN, VIOLA, CELLO*Jacob Dodge Lawson, better known to fans around the world as JVKE, is a singer-songwriter and pianist who began releasing his self-produced music while stuck at home during pandemic lockdowns. Audiences around the world were soon captivated by his ethereal voice, unconventional song constructions, and virtuosic piano skills; his song Golden Hour became his first Billboard hit and kickstarted his career as a touring and award-winning artist. Along with Golden Hour, his debut EP included another breakthrough hit, This Is What Falling In Love Feels Like, which has also become a widely played and platinum-certified song. So it's no wonder people have been requesting it for strings! This Cellobat arrangement for your violin/viola/cello trio was originally written for a wedding ceremony, but it will also be great for prelude, cocktail hour, receptions, parties, and more. Maintaining the quirky energy, wall-of-sound approach, and signature string lines of the original, this one is sure to be lots of fun to play! Rated advanced-intermediate for a few tricky rhythms, tempo changes, and a few high notes in the violin part (up to 5th position); this won't be too difficult to put together, but will probably warrant a run-through before performing.Sarah “Cellobat” Chaffee is an in-demand acoustic & electric cellist and string arranger. You may have seen her onstage with legendary rock band Aerosmith as the cellist for their “Deuces Are Wild” residency, playing more than 50 sold-out shows with the Bad Boys from Boston; she is also the principal cellist for the Raiders House Band, playing for a crowd of 60,000 at all of the team's home games. Mixed choir (SATB) a cappella - SKU: S9.Q7182 Composed by Viktor Ullmann. This edition: choral score. Schott Choral Music. Downloadable, Choral score. Duration 5 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q7182. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q7182). Hebrew.Viktor Ullmann composed his choral arrangements of Hebrew, Yiddish and Chassidic songs in the ghetto of Theresienstadt in 1943/1944. In the function of “Head of the Studio for New Musicâ€, Ullmann made a significant contribution to the so-called “leisure activities†in the ghetto. The works were evidently intended for the repertoire of the various choirs at Theresienstadt, including children’s choirs such as the Karel Vrbas Youth Choir in which Ullmann’s son Max also sang. There is no evidence to confirm that Ullmann’s choral works were actually performed in Theresienstadt, for example in one of the frequent concerts given by Rafael Schächter’s choir of up to a hundred voices (cf. Milan Kuna, Musik an der Grenze des Lebens, 21998. p.313). The German translations below first appeared in the song book Makkabi-Liederbuch published in Berlin in 1930 (2nd edition 1935) which was available to Viktor Ullmann as a source for the melodies and text orthography for his choral arrangements in Theresienstadt.
