Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.750785 Composed by E. T. Paull (1908). Arranged by Brendan Elliget MAGA 537. Contemporary. Score and parts. 115 pages. BJE Music #3567783. Published by BJE Music (A0.750785). The Home Coming March (1908) - Concert Band Score and Parts PDF Music by: ET Paull Of course, eventually, all the soldiers and sailors had to eventually come home from all the battles and Paull had that eventuality well covered also. The artwork on the front cover (of unknown origin) is one that is full of imagery that covers all aspects of the services, Army and Navy and is full of patriotic and familial ideals. The border lists all of the US States and the corner pictures depict aspects of homecoming. The main image is a parade of victory. Let's let Paull explain it all to us as he did on the inside cover. Why This Piece Of Music Was Named The Home Coming March Explanatory When the author had about completed the music of the present march, it occurred to him that it might be well to have suggestions made from a number of people, recommending a good name for same, for after all there is considerable in a name. He, therefore, had a special advertisement placed in several of the leading music Journals throughout the country, offering a prize of $10.00 in gold to anyone suggesting a name that would be accepted. Over three thousand names were sent in from all parts of the country, even from far away New Zealand and Australia, in which countries the author's marches are universal favorites. Included in the letters received was one from Mr. W. C. Bates, Secretary of the Sheffield Advertising Agency of New York and Chicago, in which he suggested the name The Home Coming March. After due consideration, this name was accepted, and the prize was awarded and paid to Mr. Bates, who stated that he was prompted to recommend this name on account of having been present during the impressive celebration of Old Home Week in Boston, Mass., last year. Probably no one idea is so universally dominant in the mind of the Human Race as that of home, or matters pertaining to home. The author believes that the name selected is one that will appeal to everyone; as the many pleasant associations with the words Home Coming are almost without limit. The title page of this march is without any exception the handsomest seen on a piece of music. The main body of the title pace represents a street scene, with buildings decorated and shows a handsome royal Arch of Welcome in the foreground, gaily decorated with flags, emblems, and bunting. A band is shown passing under the arch, leading a procession of the Home Guard, and thousands of people waving handkerchiefs, banners, flags, etc. Four smaller scenes also appear on the page, one representing the Home Coming of the soldier from war; another scene shows the Home Coming of the sailor boys embarking from their battleships; another scene represents the Home Coming reunion of the family and loved ones; the fourth scene represents the Home Coming of the father from work, where a little tot has been watching and waiting, and runs to meet him. The whole design of the title page is then surrounded by a border of differently designed medallions, on which appears the names of all the States of the Union, making without a doubt, the most unique and attractive title page ever conceived for a piece of music. One thing Paull mastered early in his career was the art of overstatement! Musically, this march is beginning to show the repetitiveness of many of Paull's works, especially evident as time passed. Once Paull found the formula (a fabulous cover and a playable, rousing march) that sold music, he stuck with it and was quite successful as a result. This arrangement is for Full Concert Band with the original optional piano part ( Not on the score). There are parts for Trombones 1 and 2 in TC and BC as well as parts of Euphonium in TC and BC. The MP3 was recorded with NotePerformer 3.Grade = 3.5 Duration =.

What are Calisthenics? You’ve all come across them in one form or another….mainly probably in caricatures of Victorian or Edwardian men in boldly striped sportswear lifting heavy weights or Victorian ladies elegantly waving their arms around(see photo) We found the idea of daily exercises in combination with utterly lovely tunes so intriguing that we decided to call our latest publication Calisthenics The music combines training of speed, thumb technique, interpretation. Short: another great fun and educational publication. The word calisthenics is derived from the Greek, kalos, beautiful; and sthenos, strength; the object of calisthenic exercises being to secure physical beauty by developing the limbs and muscles of the human frame, and making the joints flexible, thereby giving strength and power, and ensuring a graceful carriage, erect bearing, and freedom to the figure. In the words of the old Victorians: The highest refinement of that beauty is unattainable without splendour of activity and delicate strength. Exercise is now recognised to be as great a necessity in woman's education as in man's we are learning that many bodily defects and much of her weak health is attributable to the want of it; more especially in youth, when the frame is growing. Such exercises must, however, be carried out under a system; irregularly conducted, they do more harm than good. The constitution must be coaxed, not strained; the strength not unduly taxed, no over-fatigue ensuing; for exhaustion makes people look worn and old. The exertion must not be too violent, and the health and physical development of each pupil must be specially studied. Early morning or evening are the best times to select, but on no account immediately after a meal. The clothing should not be too warm, nor interfere in any way with the action of the limbs. A musical accompaniment will best preserve the necessary rhythm - the time, four or eight beats to a bar; failing this, the pupils should be taught to sing or count in concert, thereby keeping up their interest and zest. A castanet will, failing better means, help to mark the time with or without music. One of our aims is to revive these compositions and bring them to the attention of players and audiences.

Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522333 Composed by Unknown - traditional. Arranged by Paul A. Jorg. Christian,Spiritual,Traditional. Octavo. 4 pages. Paul A. Jorg #5869331. Published by Paul A. Jorg (A0.522333). This song is public domain, written in the 1850's, during a time - pre-civil war - when the nation was being torn apart. The writer calms his anxiety by holding on to God's promises. Here are some lyric notes: I am a poor, wayfaring stranger - Wayfaring: traveling especially on foot; peripatetic country preachers; a poor wayfaring stranger. Wandering through this world of woe - Matthew 18:7: Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to sin! Such things must come, but woe to the man through whom they come! And there's no sickness, toil or danger - John 11:4: When he heard this, Jesus said, This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God's glory so that God's Son may be glorified through it. Ecclesiastes 2:18-19: I hated all the things I had toiled for under the sun, because I must leave them to the one who comes after me. Acts 14:22: strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God, In that bright land to which I go - James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.I'm going home to see my Father - John 6:40 - For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. I'm only going over Jordan - Joshua 22:4: Now that the LORD your God has given your brothers rest as he promised, return to your homes in the land that Moses the servant of the LORD gave you on the other side of the Jordan. Yet though dark clouds will gather round me - 2 Corinthians 12:10: That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. I know my way is rough and steep - Psalm 16:11: You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. Proverbs 15:24: The path of life leads upward for the wise to keep him from going down to the grave. But beauteous fields lie just before me - Numbers 13:25: We arrived in the land you sent us to see, and it is indeed a magnificient country, a land flowing with milk and honey. Where God's redeemed their vigil's keep - Exodus12:42: Because the LORD kept vigil that night to bring them out of Egypt, on this night all the Israelites are to keep vigil to honor the LORD for the generations to come. I'm going home to see my mother - Mark 10:29-31: I tell you the truth, Jesus replied, no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age (homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields-and with them, persecutions.

Alto Voice,Vocal Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.784838 Composed by McCorkle, Dennis F. Broadway,Christian,Jewish,Musical/Show,Rock. 28 pages. DF McCorkle Music and eBook Publications #11767. Published by DF McCorkle Music and eBook Publications (A0.784838). CUT FROM SHOW: I Can See. The King, by Dennis McCorkle, is a contemporary pop-rock musical of the first two kings of Israel, Saul ben Kish and David ben Jesse and explores the contrasting lives and outcome of each man’s choices in life. [1 Samuel 28:7-18 - Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor. And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee. And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die? And Saul sware to her by Yahweh, saying, As Yahweh liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing. Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel. And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul. And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth. And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself. And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do. Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing Yahweh is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy? And Yahweh hath done to him, as he spake by me: for Yahweh hath rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and given it to thy neighbor, even to David: Because thou obeyedst not the voice of Yahweh, nor executedst his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath Yahweh done this thing unto thee this day. Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1008264 Composed by William Brenner. Contemporary. Score and parts. 80 pages. William Brenner #5370501. Published by William Brenner (A0.1008264). Halifax was devastated on 6 December 1917 when two ships collided in the city's harbour, one of them a munitions ship loaded with explosives bound for the battlefields of the First World War. What followed was one of the largest human-made explosions prior to the detonation of the first atomic bombs in 1945.(...)In early December, one of the merchant ships in port was the large, Norwegian vessel Imo, en route from Halifax to New York to pick up relief supplies (...) Another was the French munitions ship Mont-Blanc - filled with tons of benzol, the high explosive picric acid, TNT and gun cotton - arriving in Halifax to join a convoy across the ocean.(...)The Imo was departing the harbour on the morning of 6 December 1917 (...) Imo had an experienced, local harbour pilot on board, William Hayes, who knew the navigation rules of the harbour. However, earlier encounters that morning with two inbound vessels moving towards Bedford Basin - both of which Imo had passed starboard-to-starboard - resulted in the unusual position that Imo now occupied, too far to the east (...) The Mont-Blanc had arrived outside Halifax the previous day and anchored overnight at the mouth of the harbour. On the morning of 6 December, the ship was cleared by harbour authorities to proceed toward Bedford Basin. Despite the Mont-Blanc's dangerous cargo, there was no special protocol for the passage of munitions ships in the harbour. Other ships such as the Imo were not ordered to hold their positions that morning until the Mont-Blanc had made safe passage through the port. Francis Mackey, Mont-Blanc's pilot, was guiding the ship inbound on the Dartmouth-side of the Narrows, when he encountered the Imo heading straight towards him in what he believed was Mont-Blanc's lane. Mackey would later maintain that the Imo was moving at an unsafe speed for such a large, unwieldly ship in the harbour, and also that incoming ships (in this case Mont-Blanc) had the right-of-way over outgoing vessels. Regardless of the accuracy of those claims, what is certain is that the Imo was sailing too far to the east, in what should have been Mont-Blanc's path. After a series of whistles and miscommunications between the officers and pilots on the two ships, and failed manoeuvres to avoid a collision, the Imo struck the starboard bow of the Mont-Blanc. After a few moments the two ships parted, leaving a gash in Mont-Blanc's hull and generating sparks that ignited volatile grains of dry picric acid, stored below its decks. (...) The Mont-Blanc exploded at 9:04:35 a.m., sending out a shock wave in all directions, followed by a tsunami that washed violently over the Halifax and Dartmouth shores. More than 2.5 square km of Richmond were totally levelled, either by the blast, the tsunami, or the structure fires caused when buildings collapsed inward on lanterns, stoves and furnaces.Homes, offices, churches, factories, vessels (including the Mont-Blanc), the railway station and freight yards - and hundreds of people in the immediate area - were obliterated. (...) Across Halifax, there were miraculous stories of survival. And equally, stories of tragedy. Many children were killed on their walk to school that morning, or blinded by flying glass. Those that survived the blast stumbled home, only to find their houses shattered, or their parents dead or wounded, among the wreckage. (...) Every year on 6 December, people gather above the Narrows to hear the ringing of the memorial's carillon bells, and to remember the victims of the disaster. www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/halifax-explosion

Grossmächtige Prinzessin (Zerbinetta, from So war es) from Ariadne auf Naxos - Accessible Accompani

Soprano voice,Vocal Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.799615 Composed by Richard Strauss. Arranged by Nicole Elyse DiPaolo. 20th Century,Romantic Period. 9 pages. Nicole Elyse DiPaolo #5022033. Published by Nicole Elyse DiPaolo (A0.799615). The first of its kind, and the sixth entry in Nicole Elyse DiPaolo's Accessible Accompaniments series of aria reductions, this is a genuinely playable and piano/vocal reduction of Grossmächtige Prinzessin, Zerbinetta's famous aria from Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos (second version, 1916). Please note that the version on this page is a cut beginning from So war es mit Pagliazzo and the complete aria, from rehearsal nos. 100-130, is available separately. Coloratura sopranos who love this aria no longer need to fear bringing it in for auditions, last-minute performing engagements, or other situations in which the pianist may have to sight-read from the chaotic and sometimes unplayable vocal score. Pianists may now enjoy playing this aria comfortably, without risking strain/injury.In addition to the current cut, one beginning at Noch glaub' ich is also available. To see previews of that section within the aria and a preview of the complete aria, please visit their respective SheetMusicPlus pages. All Accessible Accompaniments, including this one, boast several unique features:1. No reduction ever requires stretches of over an octave, not including bass notes meant to be held or fudged with the pedal (though octaves may also contain chord tones within them). This reduces the amount of rearranging that smaller-handed pianists must already do. Obviously, further reworkings are to be expected and pianists should feel free to add to or modify what I’ve provided.2. I’ve included less essential, but potentially desirable additional voices/passages in cue-size noteheads so that pianists can easily see them, but know that they are not necessary in a sink or swim accompanying situation. Presenting less essential material in cue-size noteheads also reduces visual clutter on the page.3. In addition to the composer’s markings, when needed, I have included hints on particular notes to bring out when the singer is likely to need them as a pitch anchor or when it is not obvious which line should be brought out within the texture.4. All page turns have been carefully selected so as to result in the least possible disruption to the pianist when possible. When an inevitable page turn precedes a potentially surprising note or chord, I’ve included the next downbeat’s notes in cue-size stemless noteheads at the end of the preceding measure.5. When known, I’ve noted alternate cuts that singers might like to take within certain arias.6. In some cases I’ve modernized spelling conventions for easier readability (for example, by replacing ß with ss in German arias) and occasionally I've enharmonically respelled brief passages for greater clarity.About the Arranger: Praised as a sensitive pianist and outstanding accompanist who delivers powerful interpretations, Nicole Elyse DiPaolo enjoys a multifaceted career as a sought-after collaborative pianist, educational composer, arranger, coach, private teacher, and adjunct music professor. Currently based in the Cleveland area, Ms. DiPaolo has appeared as a concerto soloist with the Ambassador Chamber Players on multiple occasions and as a recitalist, collaborator, and presenter worldwide. Brass Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.791042 Composed by Walter Kent. Arranged by Kevin P Holdgate. Contemporary. Score and parts. 5 pages. Kevin P Holdgate #4967009. Published by Kevin P Holdgate (A0.791042). Versatile Brass Old Time CollectionThe song was written about a year after the Royal Air Force and German aircraft had been fighting over southern England, including the white cliffs of Dover, in the Battle of Britain. Nazi Germany had conquered much of Europe and in 1941 was still bombing Britain. With neither America nor the Soviet Union having yet joined the war, Britain was the only major power fighting the Axis powers in Europe (see The Darkest Hour). The American lyricist, Nat Burton, wrote his lyric unaware that the bluebird is not indigenous to Britain and asked Kent to set it to music. Notable phrases include Thumbs Up! which was an RAF and RCAF term for permission to go, and flying in those angry skies where the air war was taking place. The lyrics also looked towards a time when the war would be over and peace would rule over the iconic white cliffs, Britain's symbolic border with the European mainland. The song was made most famous by Vera Lynn and sung to troops during the war. It was a top ten hit in America for Kate Smith in 1942, and Glenn Miller recorded a version in November 1941.Jimmie Baker frequently performed it in Europe during the war, and the song was sung by the vocal group The King's Men on a 3 February 1942 episode of the Fibber McGee and Molly Show. Ray Eberle and Tex Beneke also included it in their repertoire. This is a simple arrangement of the song playable by all levels of ensemble.

Londonderry Air arranged for String Orchestra.<br> <br> A big band version of the song is used as the theme for The Danny Thomas Show (a.k.a. Make Room For Daddy).<br> <br> "Danny Boy" was used to represent Northern Ireland at the start of the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony, sung by a choir of children on the Giant’s Causeway.<br> <br> On November 25, 2014, the Vancouver Canucks used the song in honor of the recently deceased Pat Quinn, who played and worked in many executive capacities for the team.<br> <br> There are various theories as to the true meaning of "Danny Boy". Some listeners have interpreted the song to be a message from a parent to a son going off to war or leaving as part of the Irish diaspora.<br> <br> The 1918 version of the sheet music included alternative lyrics ("Eily Dear"), with the instructions that "when sung by a man, the words in italic should be used; the song then becomes "Eily Dear", so that "Danny Boy" is only to be sung by a lady". In spite of this, it is unclear whether this was Weatherly’s intent.<br> <br> Why the name Londonderry Air? Londonderry and Derry refer to the same place, a city in the north of Ireland, and also to the surrounding county. Supposedly the city of Derry was founded by St. Colmcille, although archaeological evidence shows that people were living there thousands of years earlier. There is an excellent museum in the city, which is worth a visit if you want to find out more. The name of the city was actually "Doire", corrupted to "Derry" by people who can’t pronounce Irish. It thought to derive from an Irish root meaning "oak tree".<br> <br> Moving quickly along in history, about a millenium later the government of England was having a difficult time colonizing Ireland because of the fierce and warlike clans living there, especially in the north of the country, Ulster. The monarchs of England, almost all of whom were notorious cheapskates, were continually looking about for ingenious ways to conquer places without actually having to put up the money themselves, or run the risk of unpopularity if they lost. In the case of Ireland, some of these schemes of the "Brish gummit" (as it is termed nowadays in Ulster) are still producing unfortunate long-term consequences.<br> <br> In 1608, King James I gave the city of Derry to the City of London corporation. I guess the deal could be summed up by saying that if the City of London could figure out a way to chase all the inhabitants out of Derry, they would be allowed to keep the loot, minus a percentage for the King of course. If they lost, well too bad. In celebration of this historic agreement, the name of Derry was officially changed to Londonderry. (For further information, check out the Northern Ireland Tourist Board’s History of Derry.)<br> <br> The linguistic outcome of all this today is that, if you think that King James’s deal with the City of London was a good idea, you call both the city and county "Londonderry". If you do, you are probably a supporter of the Unionist movement that seeks to keep Ulster a part of the United Kingdom. If you think it was a bad idea, you call both "Derry", and you are probably a supporter of the Irish Nationalist cause. Or you might just be someone who thinks it’s confusing for kings to be going around changing the names of places all the time for no good reason.<br> <br> You can find plenty of discussion about the political side of the question elsewhere, but here let’s look at the musical side. We have an air, collected in county Derry/Londonderry, and it doesn’t have a title. What do we call it?<br> <br> If you were a proper Victorian, there’s no way you were going to call it the Londonderry Air, much less the Derry Air, because of the improper sentiments that these titles might suggest. My parents tell me that in their youth in Australia, it was usually called the Air from County Derry. (This would, I suppose, support Winston Churchill’s theory that Australia was inhabited by "convicts and Irishmen".)<br> <br> My mother also sends the following information, referring to an arrangement of the tune by the Australian composer Percy Grainger:<br> <br> Just another note about Danny Boy, that I grew up in Australia believing to be the Air from County Derry. We were looking through some LP’s last night (back to vinyl yet!) and found a Mercury Wing Classical Favorites stereo LP SRW18060, COUNTRY GARDENS and other favorites by Percy Grainger {played by} Eastman-Rochester Pops, Frederick Fennell, conducting. The cover notes included the following: "Irish Tune from County Derry was harmonised in memory of Irish childhood friends in Australia." Considered by many to be Grainger’s masterpiece of harmonization, the tune was collected many years ago by Miss Jane Ross of New Town, Limavady, Ireland. Grainger has set it for many instrumental combinations. So there’s another variant on the name for it. It doesn’t say who wrote the notes, but the bits in quotes for each of the works on the record are Grainger’s original comments.<br> <br> The references to Londonderry Air that I’ve seen don’t go back any earlier than the late 1930s. For example, the Glenn Miller Orchestra recorded Danny Boy (Londonderry Air) in February 1940. Bing Crosby’s version was recorded in July 1941 (reference). (So many different things I could check up on!) Londonderry was an important American naval base during WWII, but the US hadn’t come into the war in 1940.<br> <br> Need an anthem fast? They are ALL in my store! All my anthem arrangements are also available for Orchestra, Recorders, Saxophones, Wind, Brass and Flexible band. If you need an anthem urgently for an instrumentation not in my store, let me know via e-mail, and I will arrange it for you FOC if possible! keithterrett@gmail.com<br> <br> Contact Publisher Related Scores

String Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1183534 Composed by Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de St. Georges. Arranged by Robert Debbaut. Classical,Contest,Festival,Historic,Multicultural,World. 28 pages. ROBERT DEBBAUT #783207. Published by ROBERT DEBBAUT (A0.1183534). How is it that one can be born a slave in French colonial Guadeloupe and rise to be among Paris’ musical giants, to become a colonel in the French Army as well as the frequent dinner guest of princes and potentates? The story of Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, is surely an interesting one, even the stuff of which movies are made.Joseph Bologne’s father, Georges Bologne de Saint-Georges was a French planter. Saint-Georges was the name of his plantation. He impregnated Anne, the Senegalese slave of his wife, who bore him a son in 1745. Uncharacteristic of many of these sort of relationships he acknowledged the child was his and gave him his family name. When he was seven Bologne’s father took him to Paris for his education, enrolling him in a boarding school. Two years later he and the child’s mother returned to France and set up housekeeping as a family in Paris’ Saint-Germain-des-Prés district. At age thirteen Joseph’s father enrolled him in the Royal Technical Academy of Fencing and Swordsmanship. He quickly became the finest swordsman in the academy, perhaps in all of Paris. Upon graduation he was made an Officer of the King’s Bodyguard and a chevalier (an honorary knighthood). He went on to serve tours of duty in the French Army during the Seven Years War (1756-1763) and later after the French Revolution, where he was Colonel and commander of an all-Black regiment of the Revolutionary Army. All this in spite of the fact that French law forbade him, a man of African heritage, to become a citizen, to retain his father’s royal title of “Gentleman of the King’s Chamber,†or to marry outside his class. There is limited information about Bologne’s musical training, but he was obviously so well-skilled that Italian violinist-composer Antonio Lolli (1725-1802) wrote two violin concertos for him and French composer François-Joseph Gossec (1734-1829) dedicated his set of String Trios, Op. 9 to Bologne. Lolli may have worked with him on violin technique and Gossec composition, but this may be apocryphal. Bologne played in Gossec’s orchestra, and was later both leader and conductor of the group. As a composer Joseph Bologne was quite prolific, composing six operas, fourteen violin concertos, four symphonies concertantes, and numerous chamber works and songs. His Six String Quartets, Op. 1, Nos. 1-6 date from 1770-1771 and were published by the Paris publishing house of Jean-Georges Sieber (1738-1822) in 1773 (There are a total of 18 quartets: Six Quartets “au goût du jour†[up-to-date] from 1779 and the Opus 14 set of six which date from 1785). The Opus 1 quartets are dedicated to Anne Louis Alexandre de Montmorency (1724-1812), 7th Prince of Robeck (Robecq) and Grand Duke of Spain. The Opus 1 quartets all display a similarity to the Italian opera overtures from earlier in the Eighteenth Century (often called “sinfoniaâ€) in that they have an overall “A-B-A†form with the ‘A’ sections being robust allegros and all ‘B’ sections marked “rondo.†As such, in arranging them for string orchestra it seemed quite natural to rename them “overtures.†Certain liberties were taken by the arranger in order to maintain the integrity of the classic Rondo formula. All six have been arranged in this manner for string orchestra. They vary in length from twelve to almost twenty minutes. If you wish to obtain parts, write to debbaut@gmail.com and pay $42 via venmo or $40 via personal check and they will be sent to you in pdf format.

Wie Du warst (Octavian's Aria) from Der Rosenkavalier - Accessible Accompaniments Edition
Alto Voice,Vocal Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.799612 Composed by Richa…
(+)
Alto Voice,Vocal Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.799612 Composed by Richard Strauss. Arranged by Nicole Elyse DiPaolo. 20th Century,Romantic Period. 6 pages. Nicole Elyse DiPaolo #5022023. Published by Nicole Elyse DiPaolo (A0.799612). The first of its kind, and the third entry in Nicole Elyse DiPaolo's Accessible Accompaniments series of aria reductions, this is a genuinely playable and piano/vocal reduction of Wie Du warst, Octavian's famous aria from Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier (1911). Mezzos who love this aria no longer need to fear bringing it in for auditions, last-minute performing engagements, or other situations in which the pianist may have to sight-read from the chaotic and unplayable vocal score. Pianists may now enjoy playing this aria comfortably, without risking strain/injury. This edition also includes a two-measure recomposed ending four measures after rehearsal 25, making this edition a great choice for concert and audition situations in which another singer isn't available to sing the Marschallin's lines. Published by Sandra Milliken (A0.774723). Brisbane Ladies, sometimes known as Augathella Station, is an Australian folk song based on an English naval song titled Spanish Ladies. The song probably dates from the time of the War of the First Coalition (1793-96) when the Royal Navy carried supplies to Spain in support of that country’s resistance to revolutionary France. It then probably gained further popularity during the later Peninsular War when British soldiers were transported to Spain to assist rebels fighting against the French occupation by the forces of Napoleon.Spanish Ladies is a tale of British naval personnel sailing north from Spain and along the English Channel to their home port. Due to its popularity, several variants of Spanish Ladies later appeared in various parts of the world. American whalers sang a version called Yankee Whalermen. In Newfoundland it appeared as We’ll Rant and We’ll Roar. Special lyrics were written to the tune for the Bluenose, a famous Canadian sailing ship plying out of Nova Scotia. In Australia, around 1880, another set of lyrics appeared, written by Saul Mendelsohn who was a storekeeper in the small Queensland town of Nanango. Brisbane Ladies tells about the drovers who bring the herds of cattle overland from western Queensland to the markets in Brisbane. There the drovers spend most of their money and time with the ladies before setting out for home in search of the next herd of cattle for market. The places mentioned in Brisbane Ladies are mostly small towns along the stock route that stretched some 750 kilometres north-west of Brisbane towards the small town of Augathella, on the banks of the Warrego River. Augathella, at that time, marked the convergence of three major bullock tracks from Morven, Tambo and Charleville.

My Mother had some sad news to give me. Dad was very ill. My whole life flashed before me. My parents were always 200% supportive of all my artistic endeavors. None of my success would have been possible but for my Dad and Mom. My memories of my Dad and my Mom flooded my mind like a deluge. When I heard the news about how gravely ill he was I thought to myself that so often we give thanks, honor, or show our love when it is too late. Who wants to be that person? I was finally in the unique position to show my gratitude and love to my parents in the most special way that I could - through music from my heart and soul. I got the courage to look deeply within and then I began to write what was to become the first and second songs, respectively Tears from My Eyes: Remember Your Feelings and Tears from My Eyes: Reflection and Contemplation on my Tears from My Eyes: Songs from my Soul album. You will now be able to do just the same for your loved ones with this new music. Your intermediate level to advanced students and even professional musicians should find this to be a welcomed piece to learn and master. It looks deceptively simple but the learning and challenge comes from two smaller sub-ensembles playing together in their own collective units legato con moto while playing together as a whole music ensemble Everyone will enjoy and bathe in the beautiful harmonies that will resonate when the entire music ensemble begins to listen to each while playing together as a group. Your musicians will hone their skills in playing together with just the right balance that this song requires. Your musicians will also hone their skills for subdividing and maintaining an inner beat that is in sync with your conducting because there is no percussion and the notes are freely flowing on and off the down beat yet not sounding heavily syncopated when performed. When will you know when you have achieved the right balance and flow of the music? You will know when, because you will hear it and feel it when it comes into place. But I can help you with all of this with what I have to offer you today. I share with you now the final and 5th movement to Tears from my Eyes - Onward and Upward (for String Orchestra). This particular was created and produced after the Songs from My Soul album was sent for distribution. So, this song has yet to be officially released. All five movements will be released as an album Mourning in the Rain. This 5th movement Onward and Upward has a decisive emotional resolution and conviction in its pathos. The dynamics reflect accordingly ranging from mf to fff indicative of overcoming adversity and grief. Imagine overcoming despair, rising out of grief and depression and finally seeing the light of day - to join the ranks of the living and re-embracing life once again.Contact info: Tito AbeledaVisionary Quest Recordshttps://www.visionaryquestrecordsEmail: tito@visionaryquestrecords.comFollow Tito on Social Media:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/titoabeledaTwitter: https://twitter.com/titoabeledaInsta.

Large Ensemble Cello,Clarinet,Flute,Piano,Piccolo,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.841258 Composed by Chris Gordon. 20th Century. Score and parts. 39 pages. Cool Wind Music Digital #3056419. Published by Cool Wind Music Digital (A0.841258). Full set of parts: Please contact Chris Gordon at the email address on the first page of music for details.IF NOT NOW, WHEN? If Not Now, When? gets its title from the novel by Primo Levi, the Italian author who both survived life in Auschwitz and fought the continued German military presence in Italy with the Resistance after the Italian surrender to the Allies in September 1943. Levi meant that revolution and the overthrow of tyranny should never be 'put off until tomorrow'. If you believe you are on the side of right, then 'seize the day'- tomorrow may be too late. The inspiration for INNW? grew from research I was doing into an early song by Alban Berg called An Leukon which Berg wrote in 1907 while a student of Arnold Schoenberg. In delving into the kind of world which Berg inhabited in the Vienna of 100 years ago, I was fascinated by the café culture* which played a pivotal role in the lives of most artists: not only composers, but also writers, painters, architects and journalists. They swirled around the fashionable 'watering holes' sucking up current thoughts and ideas, high on Viennese coffee, cigar smoke and idealism! I envisaged a play which tried to encapsulate all this and wrote a few scenes with characters such as Schoenberg, Berg, Webern, Steuermann, Pisk, Kraus, Gropius and Altenberg heatedly discussing music, art and poetry over large cups of milky coffee. This grew into the framework for INNW? which, to paraphrase Pirandello's play about characters seeking an author, is a 'play without words in several scenes'. The piece is organised into 8 short movements or 'scenes' showing the 'Schoenberg cirle' sharing their radical and daring ideas and the shock or delight (or both simultaneously) with which those ideas are greeted. The first, which happens to be the longest, is rooted in conventional tonality. It begins with a fanfare in D flat major ('aux armes, citoyens!'), then seeks a 'freer' tonality by means of the 'emancipation of the semitone' only to capitulate in the central section and, finally, to 'fall back to earth' by winding down in G sharp minor. These 'scenes' are not meant to represent particular composers. They are, however, meant to represent the kinds of directions in which music could progress, given the 'breakdown' or 'stretching to its limits' of traditional harmony which had occurred in the previous 10 to 20 years. So many ways forward were promulgated, with one after another extraordinary, and often unexpected, futuristic musical panoramas glimpsed momentarily. My aim is to demonstrate which directions they decided they could head in having cleared the 'overgrown' path before them. * I even discovered that, around this time, in the Café Central, a certain Leon (Lev) Bronstein, otherwise known as Leon Trotsky, banished by the Okhrana (Imperial secrect police) from his native Russia, would spend all day in a back room playing chess. How delicious, I thought, if Schoenberg had ever brushed passed Trotsky or, indeed, had ever spoken to him: the one planning political and the other musical revolution!

Score. 2 pages. Servant Song Music and Ministry #649158. Published by Servant Song Music and Ministry (A0.1044425). I wrote this reconciliation hymn back in 2016, when elders from the Blood Tribe, Metis, Piikani, and Siksika nations of Southern Alberta led the Reconciliation Week events at Medicine Hat College, in Medicine Hat, Alberta. They invited me to write and teach this hymn as part of the sessions at MHC, where I was (then) the ecumenical Chaplain. It has been an honour to participate in this annual tradition of indigenous leaders sharing their distinctive cultural practices, traditions, and values with the public in Medicine Hat (and the surrounding communities) for a decade, now. During the session I was asked to assist with, the Elders were sharing the Seven Grandfathers' Teachings, and so I included these core values into the lyrics of the hymn. The work in Medicine Hat started with expressions of lament and support from a group of local churches and the Medicine Hat College Chaplaincy program while the Truth and Reconciliation Commission was crossing the country. We quickly realized that many non-indigenous Canadians genuinely wanted to learn more about their First Nations, Metis, and Inuit neighbours. Seeing an urgent need for greater awareness about the intergenerational damage that was done by the Indian Residential School system here in Canada, and also identifying these Reconciliation events as a way to decrease racist stereotypes and assumptions about indigenous peoples, we decided to continue offering an annual reconciliation session, which grew, year by year. A decade later, I'm delighted to have seen deeper, healthier relationships being built between indigenous and non-indigenous people. Musically, this hymn loosely imitates the style of the French Canadian Voyageurs, the folk melodies of the 18th and 19th centuries. The lyrics incorporate the Seven Grandfathers' Teachings. This core ethical framework has many different versions, but many First Nations communities have adopted these teachings in some form. (I've heard Elders say that Respect must come first, because it is the foundation that we build on, but for this particular group at Medicine Hat College, Humility was first on the list). I have Metis ancestry myself, and as an adult, I have researched the long-hidden genealogical and cultural treasures of my family tree. Whether you are an indigenous person looking to support other indigenous Christian composers, or whether you are a non-indigenous person who is trying to broaden the repertoire of your congregation, We Must Learn to Walk Together is an upbeat, hope-filled hymn that sings about reconciliation as if it is not only possible in the distant future - but also achievable today, using the concrete steps suggested by the lyrics. The indigenous wisdom of the Seven Grandfathers' Teachings lines up beautifully with the teachings of Christ. Musically, this hymn is highly accessible for congregational singing; the range is moderate and the rhythms provide musical interest without becoming overly complex; to hear the guitar version and melody line of the hymn being played and sung by the composer, please go to the following YouTube link: https://youtu.be/3DpkFCLxgEs. The musical format of the hymn alternates between the chorus and three verses. The piece takes roughly 3:30 to perform. This hymn has been transcribed in the key of C Major, so it is as easy as possible for church accompanists to play and for congregations to sing; guitarists are invited to play in the key of A Major and simply capo 3. Guitar chords are included. I hope and pray that this hymn for reconciliation will help you, your congregation, and the wider community to think about, pray for, and enact the calls to action of the Canadian Truth and Reconciliation Commission in new and deeper ways this year.
