E-flat Alto Saxophone. Composed by Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn (1809-1847). Arranged by Todd Stalter. Classical. Part. 1 pages. Alfred Music - Digital Sheet Music #00-PC-0015887_AX1. Published by Alfred Music - Digital Sheet Music
Although more famous for his incidental music to A Midsummer Night's Dream, Mendelssohn was commissioned by the King of Prussia to provide music for Racine's religious drama Athalie, which includes the War March of the Priests. The march tune draws its energy from a repeating triplet figure in the introduction, and features a nice legato contrasting section. A great opportunity to teach style and nuance! Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.885159 By Renee Hyche McKee. By Renee Hyche McKee. New Age,Praise & Worship,Sacred,Traditional,Wedding. Score. 28 pages. Renee H. McKee #491468. Published by Renee H. McKee (A0.885159). Classically-trained pianists are often asked to “play some quiet background music†which is non-invasive, that will support the event without bringing attention to the music itself, and can be brought to a graceful close quickly. “What to play?†is not the only challenge, but also, “What do I do if I run out of music before the event is done?†or, How can I bring a piece to a close if I'm told to stop playing before the piece is over?†“HELP! I can't improvise! I offer you a set of beautiful phrases that are uniquely purposed to fill these needs - and more. Peaceful Measures is a set of twelve four-measure, repeatable, interchangeable phrases with very little melodic distraction. Start with any phrase that suits your need, such as background music for a pastoral prayer. Repeat one phrase indefinitely or flow directly to any other. Skip around. Each phrase leads to all others, and all lead to your choice of two clearly labeled Endings. Because this download includes the seven most commonly used major keys, Peaceful Measures can also be used as vamping material until the song you are accompanying is ready to sing. Or use a phrase to extend a song in order to continue its mood. Print only the pages of the key you need now, or the whole set for quick referrals later. Explore their flexibility for other purposes, such as the passing of Communion for example: find your favorite phrases to repeat, then flow into the Ending that will serve the best timing. Need quiet music filler for an unknown length of time? Choose a phrase and repeat, then go to an Ending of your choice. Everything is written out for easy navigation and on-the-spot reading. The recording I have included is a series of phrases, some repeated, in F Major and uses Ending I. Pianists will discover even more settings for these versatile phrases! Not only are they great for worship services of any faith, they serve as background music for speeches, funeral prelude music, dedications of any kind, wedding filler music, civil ceremonies, personal prayer, and calming meditation music for groups large or small. For some, the most enjoyable thing is to just play them randomly and enjoy the calm they bring for yourself. It is my heart’s desire that these lovelies will serve you, the pianist, the one who is so often called upon to serve others. Blessings, - Renee PS I've included a bonus page that has an extended version of one of the phrases. Enjoy!

Grieg: Ase's Death from Peer Gynt Suite for Baritone Sax & Piano
Saxophone Baryton, Piano
Baritone Saxophone,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549534 Composed by Ed…
(+)
Baritone Saxophone,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549534 Composed by Edvard Grieg. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Concert,Contemporary,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. Score and part. 11 pages. Jmsgu3 #3505851. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549534). Duration: ca. 3:40, Score: 5 pages, solo part: 2 pages, piano part: 3 pages. Super-famous instantly recognizable tune, not very difficult - suitable for a recital, funeral or church meditation.Grieg Background In the first place, Edvard Grieg (1843 –1907) was a Norwegian composer as well as a concert pianist. As a matter of fact, most music historians consider him one of the foremost Romantic era composers. Consequently, his music is part of the international standard classical repertoire. Grieg moreover used Norwegian folk music in his own compositions. Consequently, he ushered Norwegian music to transnational consciousness. Furthermore, he forged a national musical identity for Norway. It is important to realize that he did this in a manner similar to Jean Sibelius in Finland, and Bedřich Smetana in Bohemia. Legacy Grieg is especially celebrated in the city of Bergen. For example, the city has erected numerous statues depicting Grieg. Specifically, the city has named a concert hall (Grieg Hall), a music school (Grieg Academy) and a professional choir (Edvard Grieg Kor) after him. As a matter of fact, there is also a museum located at his former home in Troldhaugen. Peer Gynt Suite No. 1 (Op. 46) Grieg wrote incidental music for the purpose of illustrating a play by Ibsen known as Peer Gynt. The play includes, in particular, the famous selection entitled, In the Hall of the Mountain King. In this composition, Grieg indeed depicts the exploits of the scoundrel, Peer Gynt. In one famous episode, for example, Peer steals a bride at her wedding. For this reason, the people chase him, but soon Peer falls, thereupon striking his skull on a boulder. He wakens forthwith in a highland bounded by angry gnomes. Consequently, the music of In the Hall of the Mountain King represents the mad gnomes taunting Peer. Therefore, each time the theme repeats it gets louder and faster. In the end, Peer surprisingly escapes from the mountain. Holberg Suite and Misc. Summary It must be remembered that Grieg originally wrote his Holberg Suite for the piano. In other words, he only later arranged it for strings. Further, Grieg composed by and large many songs with lyrics by famous writers such as Heine, Goethe, Ibsen, Hans Christian Andersen, Rudyard Kipling, and others. On balance, Norwegian pianist Eva Knardahl recorded altogether Grieg’s whole piano catalog on LP in 1980. These recordings were released again on CD in 2006. In any event, Grieg himself performed and recorded the bulk of these pieces toward the end of his life. Register for free lifetime revisions and updates at www.jamesguthrie.com.

Specifically, the city has named a concert hall (Grieg Hall), a music school (Grieg Academy) and a professional choir (Edvard Grieg Kor) after him. As a matter of fact, there is also a museum located at his former home in Troldhaugen.Peer Gynt Suite No. 1 (Op. 46)Grieg wrote incidental music for the purpose of illustrating a play by Ibsen known as Peer Gynt. In the end, Peer surprisingly escapes from the mountain.Holberg Suite and Misc. SummaryIt must be remembered that Grieg originally wrote his Holberg Suite for the piano.

Piano,Soprano Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.528178 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Diego Marani. Classical,Concert,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 24 pages. Diego Marani #5045327. Published by Diego Marani (A0.528178). Beethoven’s two romances for violin are the closest of siblings: No. 2 is in F Major, while No. 1 is in G Major. Both were dedicated to the same violin virtuoso, Ignaz Schuppanzigh. Musically, No. 2 shares the stately pace and singing quality of No. 1, as well as its rondo structure, which allows Beethoven to repeat the theme with additional material at each iteration. Some listeners hear the melancholy of lost love in this romance’s languorous melody, while others hear a more philosophical musing, poetic and contemplative.Originally composed for violin and orchestra, this arrangement is a faithful transcription for soprano sax and piano and includes two different keys: F Major and Eb Major.

Three Ancient Capitals for Trombone and Piano

Piano,Tenor Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1502105 Composed by Keiko Takashima. Classical,Contest,Festival. Score and part. 27 pages. FOSTERMUSIC.JP Digital Publishing #1077976. Published by FOSTERMUSIC.JP Digital Publishing (A0.1502105). THREE ANCIENT CAPITALS was originally written for Trombone Quartet Zipang in 2007. It was published just after its premiere in December of that year, and I am very glad that it has been played by a number of trombone quartets since then. Following its publication, a female trombonist uttered, “Although quartet is fun, it would be also enjoyable if it was played solo, wouldn’t it? “ and this brought the opportunity for this “solo trombone version” to be born. The whole work consists of three pieces. They were written based on my impression of each place when I visited them. 1. Kamakura: In the Hydrangea Temple I visited Meigetsu-in Temple, which is well-known as “Hydrangea Temple,” on a rainy day in June. There I saw colorful beautiful hydrangeas in full bloom, struck by gentle rain. The motif which is repeated many times in the piece represents each hydrangea. 2. Nara: Consecration of the Great Buddda Among the Great Buddhas all over, Rushana-butsu in Todai-ji Temple in Nara, which is 16 meters tall, is the most famous.I imagined the solemn scene of the Consecration Mass of Great Buddha. 3. Kyoto: The Golden Pavilion in the Sunset It was toward dusk when I visited the Rokuon-ji Temple, known as “Temple of Golden Pavilion,” which was built by Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, the third shogun in the Muromachi period. It shined like gold in the light reflected by the setting sun.It was fun for me to arrange the trombone quartet into solo trombone with piano, and I chose every single note carefully while building the relationship between the trombone and piano. I hope the audience will enjoy a different experience from the original quartet. I hope this work, born by Zipangu Quartet, will be loved by more people beyond the frame of its original setting. Performance Time: 12’00” PROFILE: Keiko Takashima Keiko Takashima was born in Takamatsu, Kagawa in 1962 and grew up mainly in Hiroshima. She began taking piano lessons at the age of four and enjoyed chorus as a club activity in junior and senior high school. She started learning harmony and composition theory while she was in high school and enrolled in the composition department at Tokyo University of the Arts of Music in 1982. After graduation, in the wake of providing new arrangements of CHANSON JAPONAISE (YUYAKE-KOYAKE) and FANTASIE (WARABE-UTA) as encore pieces for the Paris Trombone Quartet for their first tour to Japan, she has written many works for trombone. Her repertoire for trombone quartet includes PASSEPIED, MEMORIES, SQUARE DANCE, THREE ANCIENT CAPITALS, THE INTERSECTION OF CROSSING PATHS, SONG OF HOMETOWN, JAPANESE FOUR SEASONS, DOGWOOD PRAYER, and BEYOND THE SANDY HILL. She also wrote for solo trombone and piano: FANTASY ON ITSUKI LULLABY, which is included in Mr. Michel Becquet’s solo album, as well as BREEZE IN THE HEARTS - BLOOM IN THE WORLD, IN THE QUIET OF THE NIGHT, and HEAR THE SPRING CALLING. Her choral works are TOKI-SOBA (for mixed chorus) based on Japanese comic storytelling, LOVE IN KYOTO (suite for female chorus, lyrics by Madoka Mayuzumi), and FLOWER TIDING (lyrics by Urara Takahashi). PIANO RECITAL STORY, a suite for piano, is also on sale at PTNA Musse.jp (a music delivery service on the Internet).Ms. Takashima also wrote the fanfares for the opening and closing ceremonies at the National Sports Festival, held in Hiroshima in 1998. She is a regular member of the the Piano Teachers’ National Association of Japan.*The YouTube sample is a performance of oboe d'amore for reference of the music.

Instrumental Duet Alto Saxophone,Clarinet,Instrumental Duet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.587766 Composed by Scott Joplin. Arranged by David McKeown. 20th Century,Folk,Ragtime,Standards. Score and parts. 5 pages. David McKeown #4896843. Published by David McKeown (A0.587766). The most popular of Scott Joplin’s piano rags during his lifetime, The Maple Leaf Rag was published in 1899. Joplin lived for a while in Sedalia, Missouri and the Maple Leaf Club in that town is thought to have provided the name for this composition. It provided Joplin with a steady income for the rest of his life, and while he requested that it be played at his funeral, his wife refused as she felt it inappropriate. It was the first track on Joshua Rifkin’s famous 1970 revival recording of Joplin’s music and, never waning in popularity, it has featured in hundreds of films. This version for Clarinet and Alto Saxophone Duet includes all four sections of the original composition. The tempo in recorded versions varies widely between 72 and 126, so the marking of 92 is a suggestion only. The linked youtube performance is the Alto Saxophone version of this duet and the repeats are omitted for brevity.Musicians at an advanced intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. The overall performance time is around four minutes.Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with phrasing, syncopated rhythms and light articulation. Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.550709 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Christmas,Instructional,Standards. 68 pages. Jmsgu3 #4784649. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.550709). The Saxophone Christmas BookChristmas Reharmonizations by James M. Guthrie. The Saxophone Christmas Book is a collection of the 18 Most Famous Christmas Songs of all time with new and surprising harmony.FormatFirst of all, your sax choir can perform the Saxophone Christmas Book directly from the score. This is easy because each song is only two pages long, hence there are no page turns. Alternatively, this download includes a full set of parts. So various combinations are also possible: e.g. Soprano & Alto read from the score on one stand, while the Tenor & Bass uses the parts on a separate stand. The Saxophone Christmas Book is available in whatever format works best for your particular ensemble.PerformanceThis collection of the most famous 18 Christmas songs can be performed as a medley as written. Moreover, selected songs from the Saxophone Christmas Book could be chosen as the last verse of a hymn presentation. In this case, just play the usual arrangement from the hymnal for the first verses, then switch to this arrangement for the final verse. This adds a great deal of energy and unexpected adventure to your performance. Each song could be repeated depending upon the length of time required. This is a very versatile collection. Suitable for Christmas parties or receptions, church services, and receptions, nightclubs, and school presentations. Also, they are very easy to perform or even sight-read.MusicEach song in the Saxophone Christmas Book is adventurously reharmonized, but the melody always remains perfectly intact. This makes it easy for anyone to sing along. Moreover, the songs end properly in the correct key so as to add an element of familiarity and closure. Tempo markings occur at the beginning of each song, but you can adjust these to your liking. Articulations are carefully calculated to emphasize the characteristics of wind instruments.ContentsVeni, veni, Emmanuel (O Come, O Come, Emmanuel)Helmsley (Lo!
