Le Cygne, or The Swan, is the penultimate movementof Camille Saint-Saëns? 1886 suite, Carnivalof the Animals. Most often played as a solo piece for cello with piano,the original version was scored for solo instrument and two pianos. It was the only movement for the Carnivalthat the composer allowed to be heard in public during his lifetime. Thisversion for Alto Saxophone with Pianoaccompaniment has been arranged to best suit the key and pitch of the soloinstrument. The pdf file contains both the piano accompaniment and the separatesolo part.

Musicians at an intermediate level and above willfind this ideal for formal and informal performances. The melody is expressiveand legato; the piano accompaniment is challenging in its constant semiquaverarpeggios. The overall performance time is around three minutes. This is my arrangement of Mozart's Sonata for 2 Pianos in D, K. 448, complete 3 movements, for 1 piano, 4 hands. Since it isn't so easy finding a hall or any place where there are 2 pianos laying around I decided to make my own arrangement of this marvelous composition for 1 piano, four hands. I tried to be faithful to the original music as much as possible. Each of the movements are also available separately as well. Enjoy.

This is my 2 piano arrangement of C.P.E. Bach's famous Solfeggietto (solfeggio) in C minor for the piano. I know there are other arrangements our there for 2 performers. Mine is just another addition.

The original piano part is based the the autograph manuscript with some edits. I hardly made any edits in dynamic markings or phrases. I will leave that up to the teacher and the performer. Enjoy.

Gathering Starflowers distils, in the form of a symphonic poem interspersed with narratives commenting on the story, elements of Günter Grass? 1969 novel - Local Anaesthetic - itself a powerful satirical polemic on the futility and wastefulness of war. In his novel, Grass has two of his characters, who lived through the 1939-1945 war as teenagers, continually relive it and relive major battles of the campaign in the East to overcome the Red Army and win Russia for the German Reich.

Gathering Starflowers is written to be performed as a melodrama. A 'drama with music'. The drama will be provided by a narrator who will read excerpts from Local Anaesthetic interspersed with dramatic dialogues from which the audience will learn a little about the main protagonists of Günter Grass? novel. The music, especially composed by Chris Gordon, is for two pianos.

Schumann Background
Robert Schumann (1810 ?1856) was a German composer and, moreover,a music critic. Music historians, as well as critics, generally agree that heis one of the greatest composers of the Romantic era. In the first place, Schumann was studying tobecome a lawyer. He quit law school, however, to pursue a career as a concert pianist. Be that as it may, he injured his hand andruined any chance of success as a virtuoso pianist. As a result, Schumann turnedhis musical attention to composing.

The Beginning of the End
In1848, Robert Schumann was in fact only 38 years old. Nevertheless, he wasalready weakening as a composer and conductor. His productivity, on thewhole, was slowing down. Furthermore, his conducting job at one of the world?soldest orchestras had come under great criticism.

Last Period
Schumannbecame inspired by the death of his friend Felix Mendelssohn theyear before. Similarly, he was stimulated by the Revolutions of 1848, andconsequently composed some of his most substantive works. It wasduring this last period of inspiration that he wrote his Scenes from Faust. Furthermore, he finishedthe Requiem for Mignon and the Introduction and Allegro for Piano & Orchestra. Next, he composed Scenes from the Forest forpiano.
