Charles Gounod composed this Requiem under the impact of the death of his four-year-old grandson, Maurice. According to information handed down, while finishing the details of this work he was overtaken by death. It was published posthumously in various constellations by his pupil, Henri Busser, but the only complete version from the pen of Gounod is the version for large orchestra, which is published here for the first time in a critical edition. Gounod's Requiem, unlike many contemporary settings of the Mass of the Dead, is not characterized by darkness and terror. Rather, with all of its trepidation - expressed through a marked chromaticism - an atmosphere of hopeful expectation, of trust in the grace and equity of the divine judge predominates. This confidence finds its expression in the choice of the fundamental key of C major, which is rather unusual for a requiem. The work was given an impressive performance on the occasion of the first anniversary of Gounod's death in the Parisian church of Sainte-Madeleine under the direction of Gabriel Fauré and it was highly acclaimed by the contemporary press. The cantata Ich habe meine Zuversicht BWV 188 comes from the so-called Picander cycle and was written for the 21st Sunday after Trinity in 1728 or 1729. There are some particular problems associated with its transmission. The original set of parts was lost, and the manuscript score only survives in fragmentary form. Probably as early as the 18th century the score was divided up into numerous separate parts in order to make more money, or to be able to provide as many Bach relics as possible for posterity. The first movement, an instrumental sinfonia, is missing apart from the final bars. We simply know that this sinfonia is based on the 3rd movement of the Harpsichord Concerto BWV 1052 in D minor and that instead of the harpsichord, an obbligato organ was envisaged. Its successful reconstruction by the baroque specialist and organist Pieter Dirksen now makes it possible to perform the cantata again complete with the introductory sinfonia. Composé entre 1830 et 1831, ce Nocturne en mi bémol majeur de Frédéric Chopin est le morceau favori de tous les jeunes pianistes. Chopin y adopte le ton de la confidence et développe le thème principal de manière fort expressive, sans renier ses influences directement issues de l’art du bel canto. Ce thème subira trois variations ornementales, entrecoupées de ritournelles de transition. La coda, très prenante, apporte le climax émotionnel de l’œuvre avant de glisser lentement vers un pianissimo à la fois doux et serein.
