Harp SKU: UT.HS-231 Arranged by Sara Simari. Saddle stitching. Classical. Ut Orpheus #HS 231. Published by Ut Orpheus (UT.HS-231). ISBN 9790215324558. 9 x 12 inches. Tarascone; Tarantella Capuanese; Valzer; Polka di Vittorio; Tarantella Stiglianese
The history of the Viggianesi, strolling musicians, winds over a period of about four centuries and esprimeun ‘unicum’ musically and anthropologically. Heirs of a travelling musical tradition that from the late Middle Ages inhabited more than just the streets of the Kingdom of Sicily and Naples, the harpists of this extraordinary story made their first appearances as early as the end of the 1600s engaged in musical practices at shrines. Armed with an urgent need to make a living together with a strong musical inclination, adaptability and versatility, the groups of musicians, almost always belonging to the same family circle, became the promoters of the great Italian musical tradition (Southern in particular), and with their harps on their shoulders they became the identification symbol of a well-defined and limited area of Italy: the Agri Valley, in Basilicata. From the many documents examined, a very wide and varied musical repertoire emerges mixing the pastoral tradition with classical tradition (mainly opera, devotional music with songs from the cities (from the Neapolitan tradition to international production). The pastoral repertoire, the subject of this publication, consists of a strongly characterized native repertoire which the Viggianesi had consolidated in both public and private ritual occasions in their native land, even if performing in distant lands.

String quartet (2 violins, viola, cello) SKU: BA.BA10576-01 Composed by Bohuslav Martinu. Edited by Aleš Brezina. This edition: complete edition, urtext edition. Linen. The Bohuslav Martinu Complete Edition IV/3/2. Complete edition, Score, anthology. Baerenreiter Verlag #BA10576_01. Published by Baerenreiter Verlag (BA.BA10576-01). ISBN 9790260108363. 33.3 x 26 cm inches. Language: CS, Text Language: CZ. Preface: Brezina, Aleš. ThePetite Messe solennelleis the finest work of Rossini's late years. He composed it between 1863 and 1864 at the age of 71 as a commission for Countess Louise Pillet -Will for the consecration of her private chapel, where the work received its first performance in March 1864. Together with theStabat mater, the mass is one of the composer's mostimportant sacred works.
The unusual instrumentation with two pianos and harmonium is entirely in keeping with the Neapolitan keyboard tradition of the 18th century which was cultivated in France in Rossini's day. It forms a distinct contrast to the style of large-scale sacred compositions as written by, for example, Liszt and Bruckner. Rossini explained that he wrote the later orchestral version of the work dating from 1867 out of concern that if he did not do this, other composers might orchestrate the mass too heavily in later arrangements.

Solo voices, orchestra (2 Soprano Voice Solo, Mezzo-Soprano Voice Solo, 2 Alto Voice Solo, Bass Voice Solo, 2 Ob, 3V, Va, Bassi (Vc, double bass, bassoon, harpisc., Erzlaute)) SKU: BA.BA04077 Opera in three acts. Composed by George Frideric Handel. Edited by Fiona McLauchlan. This edition: complete edition, urtext edition. Linen. Halle Handel Edition (HHA) Serie II, Band 12. Version of the first performance 1723. Complete edition, Score. HWV 15. Baerenreiter Verlag #BA04077_00. Published by Baerenreiter Verlag (BA.BA04077). ISBN 9790006550067. 33 x 26 cm inches. Preface: McLauchlan, Fiona. Nicola Francesco Haym. Handel completed his opera “Ottone†in August 1722, but the first performance did not take place until January 1723 in the Haymarket Theatre, London; the composer had waited so long for the famous soprano Francesca Cuzzoni who he had in mind for the role of Teofane. “Ottone†was an immediate success from the beginning, not only for its top-class cast but also because of its formal and musical structure. It received numerous revivals until 1733. Stylistically, “Ottone†follows in the Neapolitan opera tradition with emotionally charged arias as the principal vehicles of expression, whilst the plot is carried forward in the secco recitatives. The dramatic action is interpreted and intensified through the choice of arias and keys. The vocal score is based on volume II/12 of the “Halle Handel Edition†(BA 4077), which contains the complete critical musical text of the opera for the first time.

| Guitar Works Guitar Ut Orpheus
Guitar SKU: UT.CH-111 Notturno - Napolitana - Roma. Composed by Fr...(+)
Guitar SKU: UT.CH-111 Notturno - Napolitana - Roma. Composed by Francesco Balilla Pratella. Edited by Maurizio Mazzoli. Saddle stitching. Classical. Ut Orpheus #CH 111. Published by Ut Orpheus (UT.CH-111). ISBN 9790215316317. 9 x 12 inches. The three original pieces for guitar Notturno, Napolitana (popolar songs) and Roma (March for guitar), together with three transcriptions, are included in a manuscript of 36 pages, noting in the frontispiece “Transcriptions and compositions of F. Balilla Pratella sent as a tribute to M.R. Brondi (1920)”. These compositions follow a traditional language, and, in the tonality and the alternating themes, are an expression of Pratella’s folkloric vein, with cantabile and melancholy melodies, with the exception of the march, that show some echoes of the nineteenth century guitar masters’ way of composing. There is a characteristic use of the quartine with no alternated thumb forefinger tremolo, that immediately recalls the plectrum orchestra so much used by Pratella in his youth. The discovery of these pieces – which happened accidentally and saved them from certain destruction – contributes to enhance that period of great guitarist turmoil preceding Segovia, establishing itself at the beginning of twentieth century in Italy with three compositions from an author that, along with the Bonaccorsi and Colacicchi, anticipated that current – already initiated by the Fara, Gabriel, Caravaglios – which was, in the following decades, to go by the name of ethnomusicology. $16.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 3 to 4 weeks | | |
