A short, easy piano intro leads into this exceptional rock ballad for younger bands. The carefully written solo melody in the alto saxophone part is supported by the delicately scored ensemble accompaniment. As the music develops, ensemble sections contrast nicely with the soloist. Our Time To Shine provides an excellent learning opportunity for your jazz band, focusing on lyricism, dynamic sensitivity, and musicality. Beautiful!

Somehow the creative mind of Kris Berg merged a Bartók Piano piece with the well-known Mister PC by John Coltrane. As it turns out, this is a merger where everybody wins! You must check out the amazing Saxophone soli that starts at measure 113...it's brilliant!

Just about everyone has heard the melody to Joshua Fought the Battle of Jericho, right? Arranger Mike Lewis took this traditional melody and scored it for the young band. With a rubato sax and piano intro, Mike moves his chart right into an easy swing feel. There are no individual improvised solos, just ensemble with some section work, with some nice parts for the trombones. Optional parts are included but this chart will sound full with reduced instrumentation. Easy ranges, accessible rhythms and the rubato ending can be as dramatic as you like. A very nice chart. (3:53).
