Soloists, speakers, mixed choir (SATB) and combo (Score) - easy SKU: HL.49006394 Eine satirische Chor-Revue in 10 Abteilungen. Composed by Pete Seeger. This edition: Saddle stitching. Sheet music. Edition Schott. Classical. Vocal score (also full score). 40 pages. Duration 30'. Schott Music #ED 6524. Published by Schott Music (HL.49006394). ISBN 9790001069380. $38.00 - See more - Buy online

Upper Voices (EQUAL VOICES) - Grade 3 SKU: HL.50511768 For female choir. Composed by Miklos Kocsar. EMB. Choral Works (Contemporary Hungarian). Vocal/choral score. Editio Musica Budapest #Z14461. Published by Editio Musica Budapest (HL.50511768). ISBN 9790080144619. A/4 inches. Latin. Miklos Kocsar. Hungary has a thousand-year-old tradition of reverence for the Virgin Mary. In the course of the centuries the Church has found more and more occasions for the celebration of Mary. The greatest is the celebration of Mary?s assumption into heaven, which coincides with the anniversary of the death of Saint Stephen, on August 15. The texts of these choral works originate from various supplicatory prayers from the office, vocal texts and hymns. The six choral works don?t form a cycle, since the texts are associated with different liturgies. The choruses: Regina caeli ? antiphon for Easter, Sub tuum praesidium ? antiphon, Maria Mater gratiae ? short hymn, Ave Regina caelorum ? antiphon for Lent, Ave maris stella ? Hymn to Mary, Virgo parens Christi benedicta ? responsorium, can be sung singly or in any combination. $11.95 - See more - Buy online

Concert Band - Grade 2 SKU: HL.50499274 Using melodies from the Linus 18th-century dance collection for concert band. Composed by Laszlo Zempleni. EMB. Band Music. Softcover. 20 pages. Duration 3:00. The second half of the 18th century, for the people of East Central Europe, was the time of the awakening of national consciousness. The leading force in the Hungarian enlightenment, the lesser nobility, also regarded as important the national character of the country's culture. A valuable kind of national music was the Hungarian dance music that flourished in the 18th century. The greater part of the repertoire naturally perpetuates the 'Hungarian-style' pieces from the previous centuries (appearing in foreign collections too described as hungaricus, ungaresca, saltus hungaricus or Ungarischer Tanz), but beside these we can encounter contemporary European dances and entertaining instrumental pieces in almost every style. The majority of the sources are collections compiled by non-professional musicians and intendedfor private music-making. In this work the composer uses melodies from the 18th-century Linus dance collection, in trioform, with harmonies and bass appropriate to that period. The musical fabric is rich in counterparts, the sound is mademore colourful with many kinds of percussion instruments. The register and rhythmic simplicity of the parts make thepieces easily playable even by music school pupils.

Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 6 SKU: BT.DHP-1002209-010 Composed by Jan V...(+)
Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 6 SKU: BT.DHP-1002209-010 Composed by Jan Van der Roost. Sovereign Series. Concert Piece. Set (Score & Parts). Composed 2000. De Haske Publications #DHP 1002209-010. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1002209-010). Sinfonia Hungarica is a three-movement symphony that depicts the history of Hungary. All three movements were inspired by historical key figures, wars, and other important events from this country. This symphony is a celebration of Hungary’s millennium in 2001.The final movement is named after ISTVAN, the King who introduced Christianity into Hungary and who was crowned by Pope Silvestro II on January 1, 1001. A rather solemn start leads to another war-like passage, ending with some loud crashes. This symbolizes the fact that the body of the pagan Koppany was cut into four pieces, and sent to the four castles of the country as an example. After a quiet, almost religiousintermezzo, the National Hymn of Hungary is introduced. This broad “grandioso†ending also has a symbolic meaning: after ten centuries, Hungary has many reasons to look back on the past with pride, and to look forward to the future with optimism and confidence.

$314.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 4 to 6 weeks

$314.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 4 to 6 weeks

Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1002207-010). Sinfonia Hungarica is a three-movement symphony that depicts the history of Hungary. All three movements were inspired by historical key figures, wars, and other important events from this country. This symphony is a celebration of Hungary’s millennium in 2001.ATTILA, King of the Huns, often named “The scourge of God,†is the central figure of the first movement, mainly characterized by fear, threat, aggression, and cruelty. Attila’s brother, Buda, however, has a more heroic theme, while his beloved wife, Rika, has a lyrical melody. The exciting ending of this opening movement illustrates the dreaded speed of Attila’s troops: they pursued their victims and killed them all!

$314.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Supported by a major commissioning award from the Serge Koussevitzky Music Foundation in the Library of Congress, my Chinese Folk Dance Suite is written for violin solo and orchestra, and premiered by The Women's Philharmonic with violin soloist Terrie Baune, conducted by Apo Hsu, on March 10, 2001, at Yerba Buena Center For the Arts Theater in San Francisco. Inspired by various Chinese traditional folk dances, I've composed three movements in the suite: 1) Lion Dance. Traditionally, people dance with richly decorated hand made lions, accompanied by percussion ensemble, to celebrate happy occasions and major festivals throughout the country. In the composition, I use Chinese drum and other percussion instruments in the background, to form a dynamic and rhythmic texture responding to the solo part, which imitates the tunes played on the suona (traditional Chinese trumpet). The pitch materials came from traditional Guangdong Music tune and Chaozhou Music tune ; 2) YangKo. Originated in northern China, it's a major folk dance form in mass performance popularized in the country. In YangKo performance, people always play rhythmic patterns on the drums hung around their waists while singing and dancing. In my second movement, I have imagined a warm scene of YangKo dancing in distance. The solo violin plays a sweet and gracious melodic line while all members in the orchestra sing the non-pitch syllables in different layers as the soft background, to imitate the percussion sound which produces the ever going pulse. 3) Muqam. It is a large scale traditional music and dance form from Uygur nationality in Xinjiang province, originated in the 15th century. In my third movement, I keep the meter of seven eight and the melodic style of Muqam music. The fiery dancing gesture cumulates the sustained climax section at the end of the work, after a colorful violin cadenza in both improvisational singing style and polyphonic writing with woven lines. Scored for 2 flutes (2nd doubling piccolo), 2 oboes, 2 clarinets in Bb, 2 bassoons, 4 French horns in F, 2 trumpets in Bb, 3 trombones, percussion 1 (3 congas, low tom-tom, temple block, paddle castanets), percussion 2 (snare drum, 6 small Beijing opera gong, 12 big Beijing opera gong, crotales, tambourine), percussion 3 (suspended cymbal, a pair of 6 Chinese cymbals, bass drum), solo violin, violins I, violins II, violas, cellos and double basses. Duration is about 16 minutes. The work is recorded on Bis [CD-1352] and released in 2003, performed by Cho-Liang Lin and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, cond. by Lan Shui. Reduction for B-flat soprano saxophone and piano by Wong Tak Chiu (2017) and edited by Chen Yi (2018) The second movement YangKo is premiered by Dr. Wong and Korak Lerpibulchai at the Singapore Saxophone Symposium on 8/13/2017. The American premiere of the saxophone and piano reduction version of Chinese Folk Dance Suite is given by Chi Him Chik and Hao Yin at the Society for American Music National Conference in Kansas City, MO on 3/2/2018. $26.99 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 24 hours - In Stock
