Both of these versions inspired Peter Kleine Schaars in his arrangement of Relight My Fire for concert band. This piece was written to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the Takayama Wind Orchestra, who also commissioned it. The historic city of Takayama draws numerous visitors from home and abroad, not just to see its well-preserved old houses and buildings but also because every year several historic processions take place, with beautiful floats. When these ride through the city, age-old melodies are heard played on wooden flutes, accompanied by muted drums. This image is evoked at the beginning of the work, followed by an archaic sounding melody in a typically Japanese pentatonic sequence, that develops throughout. In this challenging piece Eastern and Western influences alternate,creating a sensational and overwhelming musical effect! Dit werk is geschreven ter gelegenheid van het vijftigjarig bestaan van het Takayama Wind Orchestra, dat tevens de opdrachtgever was. Ognuno vi trover quindi il proprio tornaconto poiché l’accento è posto sull’aspetto visivo e decisamente grafico delle scale. In breve, poche chiacchiere e schemi a profusione! Ma attenzione, non si tratta di schemi qualsiasi. In effetti vi sono presentati esattamente come appaiono sulla tastiera della chitarra quando suonate, rispettando cioè la prospettiva e l’angolo di vista, la larghezza dei tasti, lo spessore dellecorde, i segnatasti, il posizionamento delle dita, ecc. Utile, vero? Prenderete perciò confidenza con le scale da conoscere assolutamente, ossia la scala maggiore, la scala minore (naturale), la pentatonica maggiore, la pentatonica minore e la scala blues. Troverete quindi in questo metodo tutti gli schemi di queste scale essenziali su tutta la tastiera (dalle corde a vuoto fino al 22esimo tasto) e per tutte le tonalit (ce ne sono 12 per scala). Nientemeno! Come lo indica chiaramente il titolo, questo metodo, che si rivolge sia ai principianti che ai bassisti esperti, è interamente dedicato all’uso del plettro per suonare il basso. Questa tecnica, a lungo riservata ai chitarristi, ha visto la sua pratica svilupparsi notevolmente negli ultimi decenni presso bassisti di tutti i generi. A tal punto che oggi è considerata tanto importante quanto il colpo appoggiato. Molti bassisti utilizzano in effetti il plettro per via del suono specifico che genera. Inoltre permette una precisione maggiore, in particolare quando si suona ad alta velocit . Comincerete perciò con l’imparare a tenere il plettro nel miglior modo possibile, nonché aposizionare la mano al meglio sul basso. Potrete poi affrontare i vostri primi esercizi tecnici sulle corde a vuoto prima di groovare musicalmente sugli arpeggi e sulle scale. Studierete ovviamente le diverse tecniche relative alla mano destra (pennata alternata, divisione ritmica) prima di combinarle con quelle della mano sinistra (ghost notes, hammer-on, pull-off). Il tutto tramite numerose linee di basso e tanti grooves, a suddivisione sia binaria che ternaria, in diversi stili musicali. Un bel programma! I video (mp4) presentano tramite l’immagine tutti gli esempi, esercizi e grooves per aiutarvi a superare le relative difficolt tecniche. Quest’opera ha lo scopo di farvi lavorare sul controllo dei quattro arti quando suonate la batteria. In effetti solo un perfetto controllo dei quattro arti (mano destra, mano sinistra, piede destro, piede sinistro) permetter al batterista di avere accesso a tutti i tipi di grooves, breaks o assoli di qualsiasi stile musicale. Il che rende il lavoro qui proposto fondamentale. Diviso in due parti, questo metodo affronta sia il controllo orizzontale (superiore e inferiore) che il controllo verticale (sinistra e destra), i quali permettono di collegare mani e piedi e quindi capire meglio le numerose combinazioni ritmiche che la batteria propone. Ma invece di concatenarenumerosi esercizi tecnici l’uno dopo l’altro, senza distinguerne lo scopo musicale, questo metodo si focalizza sulla pratica, con un lavoro specifico su dei grooves e breaks di diversi stili. Ogni parte inizia quindi con alcuni esercizi preparatori indispensabili, prima di affrontare le applicazioni puramente musicali da suonare sui playalongs. Per ogni applicazione musicale, troverete 5 registrazioni diverse sul CD MP3 allegato, distribuite nel modo seguente: la batteria da sola, a velocit normale poi ridotta, la stessa parte di batteria suonata però sulla sua base musicale ed infine la sola base musicale, prima a velocit normale, poi ridotta... per permettere ad ognuno d’imparare e di suonare secondo il proprio ritmo, il proprio livello e le proprie capacit .
