Bob has created an absolutely thrilling 12 minute work, inspired by his Celtic roots (Towednack is a small area in Cornwall, England). The Celtic influence is heard in the triple-meter settings and the interlude which reflects back on a Riverdance style of music. Tenor sax is featured. Very much in the genre of his Metheny/Mays charts of the past. Commissioned by Riverside Community College (CA) Performed at the August, 1999 Kenton Sounds concert in Los Angeles. No w.w. doubles. The CD on which this piece is recorded is Towednack, Bob Curnow and the SWR Big Band (available from Sierra Music). 5-4-4-4 (opt. vibes and aux. perc.).

London Eye is an incredibly large rotating wheel situated on the South Bank of the River Thames. This movement depicts a 'flight' on this riverside wheel, at the top of which the panoramic view of London is breathtaking and the expanse of the music is a suitable depiction of that view.

This piece is the second movement of Nigel Hess' New London Pictures which represents elements of London in the 21st Century.

American composer and woodwind performer Mike Curtis is equally comfortable in classical, jazz, and ethnic settings. He has toured the world as a klezmer clarinetist, played bassoon with symphonies and opera companies, and recorded on sax with jazz greats Charlie Rouse and Anthony Braxton. His compositions show the influence of those experiences and more. A Week in Plasencia was written following Mike’s 2015 trip to the International Clarinet Association festival in Madrid. After a week in the City that Never Sleeps, Mike sought an unknown, tranquil, provincial alternative. Sunny Plasencia, a riverside town at the foot of the Sierra de Gredos, came to reveal itself as a magical font of beauty, history, and inspiration. Wes Montgomery's contribution to the world of jazz guitar is quite unique. His poetic art of building a solo, his octave-style solo technique, as well as his chordal-melodic statement revolutionized jazz guitar playing. Wes also showed this innovative insight with the guitar as an unaccompanied instrument. This folio contains the only two solo recordings he produced for Riverside: Mi Cosa, an original composition, was not released with the original LP, it was added to the CD re-issue as a bonus track under the title, Unidentified Solo Guitar; and While We're Are Young by Alec Wilder, released on So Much Guitar.
