This suite was composed by Jan Van der Roost on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the ‘Koninklijke Sint Martinusfanfare’ (Royal Saint Martinus Fanfare Band) from Halle (Belgium). The composer was required to create a suite in three movements based on three images associated with the ‘Sint Martinusfanfare’ from the small town of Halle in the province of Brabant. The first movement (Andante Pomposo) describes Martin, a soldier in the Roman army. In Andante Moderato we see the image of Martin, who become a Christian and chooses to devote his life to God. In this movement, the composer was inspired by the Brabantine gothic art of the Sint Martinus Basilica in Halle. Thecontrast between the dark Basilica and the statue of Our Lady between the soaring pillars will vividly come to life for audiences of this descriptive piece. The final movement, Allegro Molto Vivace’, could have been an image for a frivolous peasant in the Halle carnival. In a triptych about St. Martin it is more fitting to refer to it as an apotheosis, the crown on the pastoral work of Martin, Bishop of Tours, Patron Saint of the Fanfare Band and the Basilica of Halle. Fantasy for Marimba was commissioned by the outstanding Japanese marimba player, Fumito Nunoya. Although it is written in concerto style, the piano not only accompanies the solo marimba but also plays an important part in the development of the work. The piece is written in four movements, played without a break: Allegro, Andante misterioso, Tempo rubato and Allegro energico. Also available for Marimbaphone and Piano. In Fantasy for Marimba neemt de marimbafoon als solo-instrument een centrale plaats in, maar ook de piano speelt een belangrijke rol. Het werk bestaat uit vier samenhangende delen: een Allegro, een Andante misterioso, een Tempo rubato en tot slot als hartstochtelijke finale een Allegro energico. Ook verkrijgbaar voor marimba en piano. In Fantasy for Marimba wird das Marimbaphon als Soloinstrument gewürdigt, aber auch das Blasorchester spielt eine wichtige Rolle. Das Werk besteht aus vier zusammenhängenden Sätzen: Es beginnt mit einem Allegro, in dem Marimbaphon und Orchester zwei Themen präsentieren, die im darauff olgenden Andante misterioso weiterentwickelt werden. Im dritten Satz, der mit Tempo rubato überschrieben ist, hat das Blasorchester eine Atempause“, während das Marimbaphon ein kadenzartiges Solo vorträgt. The composition ".The Fever Tree". in 2008 was commissioned by the Music Association of Central and Eastern Netherlands St.Willibrord as a gift to all its members on the occasion of the formation of a national music organization and the elimination of the music union for Central and Eastern Netherlands St.Willibrord. The fever tree is a controversial legend about St. Willibrord (658-739). The daughter of a pagan chieftain of Hoemannen that made the area around Heumen unsafe, was seriously ill. They feared for her life. The chief of the gang turned to predatory Willibrord, who same time in this region led mission. Willibrord commanded theman to repent and a headband of the girl to a certain special tree to hang. The desperate captain obeyed, and his daughter was a miraculous heal. Then came the anger of the Hoemannen against their leader, who in their eyes had committed treason by the group to convert. They abused themselves to him and killed him brutally. The daughter remained behind in great sorrow, comforted by Willibrord. The composition has the following scenes: - Andante moderato - the calling of Willibrord - Allegro moderato - Willibrord passes through the province of Brabant and try to people to repent - Vivace - Hoemannen terrorize the inhabitants of the area Heumen - Andante - the healing of the sick girl and the conversion of the centurion - Inquieto - the revenge of the Hoemannen - Adagio - elegy on the death of the chief De compositie 'The Fever Tree' (De koortsboom) werd in 2008 geschreven in opdracht van de Muziekbond Midden- en Oost Nederland St.Willibrord, als geschenk aan al haar leden bij gelegenheid van de vorming van één landelijke muziekorganisatieen de opheffing van de muziekbond voor Midden- en Oost Nederland St.Willibrord. De koortsboom is een omstreden legende rond St. Willibrord (658-739). De dochter van de heidense hoofdman van de Hoemannen, diehet gebied rond Heumen onveilig maakten, was ernstig ziek. Men vreesde voor haar leven. De hoofdman van de roofzuchtige bende wende zich tot Willibrord, die in dezelfde tijd in deze streek missioneerde. Willibrord gebood deman zich te bekeren én een hoofdband van het meisje aan een bepaalde, bijzondere boom te hangen. De radeloze hoofdman gehoorzaamde en zijn dochter werd op wonderbaarlijke wijze genezen. Toen keerde de woede van de Hoemannen zichtegen hun leider, die in hun ogen verraad had gepleegd aan de groep door zich te bekeren. Ze vergrepen zich aan hem en vermoordden hem op gruwelijke wijze. De dochter bleef in grote droefheid achter, getroost door Willibrord.De compositie kent de volgende tableaus: - Andante moderato - de roeping van Willibrord - Allegro moderato - Willibrord trekt door het Brabantse land en tracht de bevolking te bekeren - Vivace - deHoemannen terroriseren de inwoners van het gebied rond Heumen - Andante - de genezing van het zieke meisje en de bekering van de hoofdman - Inquieto - de wraak van de Hoemannen - Adagio - treurzang over de doodvan de hoofdman.

As the title suggests, this piece comprises a set of variations on an original chorale,which is presented in the opening bars.The chorale uses the dark middle and lower sections of the band and is extended with minor variations until a pause leads to the first real variation, marked Vivo. This is in the form of a moto perpetuo. The second variation is a beautiful Andante introduced by a solo clarinet. Following a full band climax the final variation opens with quiet, nervous energy until its main theme is introduced.The chorale makes a brief appearance until the main theme reappears. This leads to a triumphant final augmented statement of the chorale theme, decorated by theflorid clarinet theme in the upper woodwinds. A dazzling new concert work. ‘Jubilant Prelude’ is an orchestration of the ‘Preludium over Psalm 150’ originally composed for organ by Toon Hagen. Since 1998 Toon Hagen has been organ-player of the ‘Grote or Sint Michaëlskerk’ in Zwolle (the Netherlands). He has written several ‘contemporary’ compositions for organ.‘Jubilant Prelude’ has a capricious character by the use of irregular measures and its many measure changes. The structure of the Prelude is that of a fugue and is based on motives from the psalm.After the first climax, which is both dynamic and harmonic, the theme in the Andante Jubiloso is clearly audible and it is alternated with erratic motifs. Tension increases until at last the psalm itself isheard in all its glory. The melody of the psalm sounds as a cantus firmus in tenor register, with motifs in ornamentation for saxophones, bugles and trumpets. The finale, like the prelude is capricious and vehement.The instrumentation for concert band was made by Wim Rouw. It is particularly colourful and has a surprising role for the percussion section. ‘Jubilant Prelude’ is een orkestbewerking van het oorspronkelijk voor orgel geschreven ‘Preludium over Psalm 150’ van de hand van Toon Hagen. Sinds 1998 is Toon Hagen als organist verbonden aan de Grote of Sint Michaëlskerk te Zwolle.Hij heeft meerdere ‘eigentijdse’ composities voor orgel op zijn naam staan.‘Jubilant Prelude’ krijgt door het gebruik van onregelmatige maatsoorten en vele maatwisselingen een grillig karakter.De opbouw van de Prelude is fugatisch,en is gebaseerd op motieven van de psalm.Na de eerste climax, dynamisch en harmonisch, is op het Andante Jubiloso het thema duidelijk hoorbaar, en wordt afgewisseld met grillige motieven. De spanning neemt toe totdat de psalmin volle glorie volgt. De melodie van de psalm klinkt als een cantus firmus in het tenor register, met een omspeling in saxofoons, bugels en trompetten.Het slot is net als het voorspel grillig en heftig.De instrumentatie voorharmonie orkest is van Wim Rouw. Deze is bijzonder kleurrijk met een verrassend gebruik van het slagwerk.

Das Andante in G-Dur KV 501 wurde von Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart ursprünglich für Klavier zu vier Händen geschrieben. Dizzy Stratford nahm die bezaubernde, leichte Melodie und setzte sie in ein etwas moderneres, aber ebenso leichtes und reizvolles Stück für Blasorchester um, in dem tiefe und hohe Register gleichermaßen zum Zug kommen. C’est de Salzbourg l’enchanteresse, ville natale du grand Mozart, que Dizzy Stratford s’est laissé inspirer pour rendre hommage au génie musical autrichien. La courbe mélodique basée sur le célèbre Andante en Sol Majeur de Mozart est superbe, et fl ne travers plusieurs pupitres de la formation. Le fond orchestral est éthéré et délicat.

The 'Admiral Spirit' is the pride of the Navy. The ship is at sea, there is no wind, the sun is shining. The crew are busy piloting the ship into port in prime condition. The admiral himself will inspect the vessel. The first movement (Allegro Con Spirito) gives musical expression to the majestic ship and its toiling crew. In the second movement (Andante), the ship sails into port. It has been polished and technically everything is in order. The admiral will be proud when he inspects the ship. Third movement (Allegro Molto): the captain and his crew are nervous (modulations) while working at the 'finishing touch'. The Navy Band is ready to receive the admiral !. Hemay be proud of his flagship. De bemanning van het marineschip Admiral Spirit is druk bezig om het schip in optimale conditie de haven binnen te loodsen, de admiraal gaat namelijk het schip zelf inspecteren. In het eerste deel (Allegro con spirito) horen we een verklanking van het majestueuze schip en de zwoegende bemanning. Hoe beeldend zijn de emmertjes water welke overboord gaan (trombones). In het tweede deel (Andante) vaart het schip de haven binnen. Het schip is gepoetst en technisch is alles in orde. Derde deel (Allegro molto): De kapitein en zijn bemanning zijn nerveus (modulaties) en er wordt aan de finishing touch gewerkt. De Navy Band staat klaar om de admiraal te ontvangen! De admiraal kan trots zijn op het vlaggenschip. Een schitterend speelwerk voor de lagere afdelingen! Dit werk is opgenomen in het Klein repertorium, harmonie - 5e divisie Gobelin Music Publications.

Schubert's 5th Symphony is sunny, Viennese, scored originally for small classical orchestra and positively effervesces with ideas. Stuart Johnson has taken the theme from the 2nd movement - Andante con moto - and brought this gem within the reach of technically less advanced players without diminishing the musical quality. Schubert's delightful 5th Symphony in Bb Major, written in 1816, is a miniature, perhaps consciously avoiding comparison with Beethoven's Fifth, written just 10 years earlier. Bleak Forest is a piece for smaller concert bands and offers the musicians above all space to improve their sound and their effect playing. The technical requirements are therefore deliberately kept low. With this piece, the composer won the VLAMO International Composition Contest 2022. Thematically, the work is influenced by the composer's childhood memories. In his hometown there was a dark and mysterious forest, that seemed to the children in the small village to be magical. Without a reasonable explanation, every trip into the woods was exciting and somewhat terrifying. There were tales of dangerous animals, which can be heard at the beginning of the piece, as well as magical beasts. The magic of the forest is depicted musically from bar 70 in the andante section. The snapping of the fingers represents single raindrops. From bar 99 onwards, we hear the trek home, with the occasional moments of trepidation as the children spook each other with their fanciful tales. In the end, though, we arrive safely at home because after all, magical beasts only exist in fairy tales dont they? Andreas Ziegelbäck studied music education at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, and history at the Paris Lodron Universität, Salzburg. In addition to his studies, he trained in ensemble conducting for wind orchestra with conductor and composer Thomas Doss. It was Doss who sparked Ziegelbäck's interest in composing. In 2021, Andreas Ziegelbäck completed his composition studies with Johannes Maria Staud. In 2020, he took part in a brass band composition masterclass in Bern with Oliver Waespi, followed by a premiere by the Swiss Army Brass Band.
