Jubilate’s main theme comes from the Gregorian chant on the Psalm Jubliate Deo omnis terra. The work itself was inspired by the sacredhistory of the Waldkirch (a forest village) community, located on the Swiss/German boarder. Sergei Rachmaninoff (1873-1943) was a pianist and composer of international stature and one of the towering figures of early 20th century music. He left behind an ouvre consisting of some 170 works, many of which await discovery or are known only in forms far removed from the composer's intentions. Sergei Rachmaninoff : Critical Edition of the Complete Works (RCW), a project issued by Russian Music Publishing, is the first complete edition of Rachmaninoff 's music prepared in accordance with scholarly criteria while meeting the demands of performers. It catalogues, explores, and annotates every available musical, literary, and iconographic source on Rachmaninoff 's music. The RCW is published under the scholarly auspices of Dr. Valentin Antipov. The editorial standards of the RCW satisfy the most discerning criteria and are safeguarded by an Editorial Board of internationally acknowledged authorities in Rachmaninoff scholarship. Alexandre Rachmaninoff (1933-2012), the composer's grandson, has been retained as a special advisor. The RCW is furthermore realized in close cooperation with the Glinka State Central Museum of Musical Culture, which houses one of the most extensive collections of Rachmaninoff autographs worldwide. All sources are consulted for the first time and all compositions are presented in their authentic form with all existing versions from the composer.

This work was commissioned by Dr. Robert Oertli from Möhlin, Switzerland, and is based on an earlier composition called Spirit of the Sequoia. The piece is inspired by how the human spirit can gain from setbacks: we become stronger after adversity. Sparke used the Californian redwood tree as a metaphor for this basic idea. The remarkable life cycle of these amazing trees involves them dropping seeds to the ground, which require heat to open their shells and germinate; the seeds require destruction in order to procreate. This piece is particularly suitable for younger bands - one of the last wishes of the initial commissioner.Dit werk is geschreven in opdracht van dr. Robert Oertli uit het Zwitserse Möhlin. Het is een vereenvoudigde versie van een eerdere compositie: Spirit of the Sequoia. De muziek is ge nspireerd op de wijze waarop mensen hun voordeel doen met tegenslag vaak komen we er sterker uit. Sparke gebruikte de Californische sequoiaboom als metafoor voor dit basisidee. The piece describes how, come rain or shine, the lighthouse bids a safe journey to departing ships, guides them during their travels and eventually welcomes them home again. The music evokes many musical images - grand ships sailing by, white-capped waves, the deep blue of the ocean and the light of ‘sword cape†as it silently guides ships over the mysterious waters.Dieses Werk wurde von einem Leuchtturm mit dem Namen Schwert-Kap“ inspiriert, der in der Nähe des Marinestützpunkts von Japan steht. The Dutch patriottentijd (literally ‘Time of the Patriots’) was a period of political instability in the 1780s. The country was led by regents who were occupied with their own personal interests rather than dedicating themselves to the needs of the people. In this revolutionary period, the devoted republican Patriots were in conflict with the Orangists. A civil war followed, in which the Patriots were beaten and driven away by a Prussian army. This composition is an abstract piece inspired by the Patriots. The thematic material is based on the Dutch war song ‘Merck toch hoe sterck’. Its powerful minor melody, which has its origins in the Eighty Years’ War, isrecognizable throughout the work, presented in variations of constantly shifting character. De Nederlandse patriottentijd was een periode van politieke instabiliteit in de jaren tachtig van de 18e eeuw. Het land werd geleid door regenten die meer oog hadden voor hun eigenbelang dan dat ze zich sterk maakten voor de bevolking. In die revolutionaire periode stonden de vaderlandslievende, republikeinse patriotten recht tegenover de Oranjegezinden. Een burgeroorlog volgde, waarin de patriotten door een Pruisisch leger werden verslagen en verdreven. De compositie The Patriots is abstracte muziek, maar de patriotten vormen wel de inspiratiebron voor dit werk. Het thematische materiaal is gebaseerd op het geuzenlied ‘Merck toch hoe sterck’. As in all cantatas for St. Michael the chorale cantata Lord God, we praise thee all of us BWV 130 from 1724 is a magnificent composition. Not only in the opening chorus and the final chorale do the three trumpets and timpani play a role, but the first aria In hell the serpent, hot with hate is even accompanied solely by trumpets, timpani and continuo. The second aria, Thou, of cherubim the master, brings an unexpected contrast in which, besides the tenor and continuo, on a solo flute is heard. The original set of parts were separated from each other in the 19th century and today are scattered throughout the world. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's horn concertos: the Mozart expert Henrik Wiese edits the central work genre of Viennese classicism according to the current status of international Mozart research. Mozart wrote the Horn Concerto K. 417 - like the other works of this genre as well - for his horn-playing friend Joseph Leutgeb. The jokes which the composer made at Leutgeb's expense are wellknown. For example, he called the dedicatee a donkey in the autograph, and, as Henrik Wiese evidences in his preface, Mozart also occasionally enjoyed a bit of tomfoolery with the soloist in the musical text as well.Otherwise the editor's task was anything but amusing. The main source - the autograph score - is incomplete: missing are the close of Movement I as well as the entire slow middle movement. For these two sections, Wiese used a copy of the score from the archive of the publisher Johann Andre. The unusual circumstance that Mozart generally left the horn part almost unmarked recurs in the Concerto K. 417 and was deliberately maintained in the Urtext edition.with parts for horn in F and Eb major.

‘Grand March’ was composed in 1995 for the All Shizuoka Youth Band of Japan. The piece opens with a majestic fanfare. A superb-sounding march, with a commanding character, follows. The talent of this Japanese composer reveals itself in the distinctly lyrical character of the trio section, which contrasts wonderfully with the first lyrical themes of the score. This splendidly instrumented work successfully combines 20th-century musical language with the antique elements deriving from its theme - for example, in the first movement we immediately find an ancient Greek asymmetrical rhythm. The second movement takes us on an adventurous journey to those astonishing geological wonders, the Meteoras; the third movement presents a picture of the Delphic dancers, in its title the fourth movement indicates the form used in it, which preserves the unity between the thousands-of-years-old building and its contrasting environment, echoing to the music of the bouzouki. In the suite the composer expertly exploits the possibilities of instrumentation offered by the wind orchestra, this extremely effective work can be a rewarding concert piece for any ensemble. This 4-movement suite tells the story of the beautiful French town ‘Tulle’ that was built on seven hills, just like Rome and Lisbon. The composer depicts the history of the town, as well as important events such as the bloodbath during World War II, the fabric ‘tulle’ after which the town is named and the festive annual fair. Since Tulle is also known for the production of accordions, the composer added an ‘ad libitum’ accordion part.
