Following the immense success of his fi rst waltzes Émile Waldteufel decided to continue composing works only in this genre. As a result of this he was nicknamed ‘The French Strauss’. He composed more than 250 dances, the best-known being the waltzes Les patineurs (Ice Skaters), Estudiantina and España. España was composed in 1886, based on the famous 1883 rhapsody of the same name by Emmanuel Chabrier.

This three movement piano trio from Giselher Klebe’s late period of creativity originates from his estate. The composition’s appeal lies in the clear, restrained diction whilst at the same time a high intensity of expression is achieved. Two diverse slow outer movements with eruptive injections frame a lively middle movement. This work which has a duration of 20 minutes undoubtedly represents an impressive document of a musical style which we perceive today as the classical modern.

There are songbirds and birds whose bird calls are less than cantabile. In the garden of Rome's Villa Massimo, the one and the other birds (ucelli) and songbirds (ucelletti), inspired composer Manfred Trojahn to write this adventurous and very charming piece for bassoon solo. This is a valuable addition to the small repertoire for this fantastic instrument!ucelli e ucelletticaptivates with its vitality and musical richness.- An effective concertante piece- An addition to the more demanding repertoire- Practical page turns

Composed in 1876, Dvorákâ??s only piano concerto has been overshadowed by his other two concertos, for violin and violoncello, respectively. Performers and editors have often attempted to upgrade this pianistically unassuming work by adding stylisations of their own. Our Urtext edition revaluates the sources, frees the work from subsequent interventions and presents it to full advantage in its authentic form. The principal source of our new edition is the first complete print issued by the publisher Hainauer in 1883, which has been meticulously collated with the autograph. The anonymous original piano reduction is so full of mistakes that editor Robbert van Steijn decided instead to present the version by Karel Å olc.
