Bei La Tyrolienne handelt es sich um die Tyrolienne des 19. Jahrhunderts aus Gioachino Rossinis vieraktiger, letzter Oper Guillaume Tell (Wilhelm Tell, 1829). Im Tyrolienne-Chor (Toi que l'oiseau ne suivrait pas, im dritten Akt, Szene 2, Nr. 15), der im Übrigen ohne Orchesterbegleitung auskommt, geben die Männerstimmen den Rhythmus vor, begleiten also die melodieführenden Frauenstimmen. Marie komponiert neben dem Thema drei Variationen, die er jeweils durch ein Tutti voneinander trennt.
