J. S. Bach's massive work, The Art of Fugue, is a summation of his powers as a composer of contrapuntal music. Each fugue is a masterpiece in its own right. Number Two is a four-voice fugue that uses the direct form of the theme (as in Number One) but with a swinging feel due to the French style dotted eighth – sixteenth rhythm.
